"S-So...can anyone...t-tell m-me what they know a-about the First H-Holy war b-before we start...?" Mrs. Loli asked the class.
No one raised their hands to answer her.
Apparently, our class didn't have "that one smart kid" who always raised their hand whenever the teacher asked a question.
Of course, the boys and I were very smart, but we weren't the type to answer a teacher's question and make a name for ourselves in a class when we already had so much attention.
I expected Mrs. Loli to just pretend like she never asked the question and to simply move on from the subject, but before she could, the twins raised both of their hands at the same time.
Those twins were kind of creepy.
They were able to predict each other's movements with such startling accuracy that it almost felt that they could read each other's minds.
In fact...it felt that they were able to read anyone's mind, including mine.
But that would be impossible...since it was something that they weren't able to do in the game from what I remember.
Maybe they had...good intuition?
But something about them still felt a little off to me.
"Ah, t-thank you...Please, g-go ahead..." Mrs. Loli sighed in relief when she realized that someone was willing to answer her question.
"The First Holy War was against Macrog, the land of demons..." Min started as he stared at Mrs. Loli deeply.
"...and the one who was able to end the war and challenge the all-powerful and wicked demon lord, Escaliantor I, was the first hero, Rosewald," concluded Lin as he also stared deeply into our teacher.
Wait...
"Th-That is a-absolutely correct...You a-answered exactly h-how I would h-have answered this q-question as well," Mrs. Loli chuckled softly.
If my suspicion that they could read minds was true...
Couldn't they just read the teacher's mind to answer the question?!?!?!
That would not be fair on so many different levels.
Imagine how many students would love the ability to read their teachers' minds...
"T-The war b-began because t-the demons from Macrog terrorized t-the citizens of Silverbell. According to history books, all t-the d-demons of t-the past h-had a w-wicked nature," Mrs. Loli started.
It sounded like something out of a fairy tale.
A wicked demon lord gets killed by a righteous hero.
It's been overused.
"Because of this...the honorable and kind king of Silverbell of that time...enlisted the aid of a prophet...who foretold the birth...of a powerful hero..." Mrs. Loli started to speak slowly in order to get rid of her stutter.
The first hero...
His fate was sealed from the start...I wonder how he felt about that.
"On the first day of the year...January 1...at the exact moment when the clock struck...12:00 AM...a healthy boy was born...in the village of Greenwood...the place in which our school...Greenwood Academy...was named after."
Suddenly struck with a question, I raised my hand.
"Where is Greenwood Village now?" I asked Mrs. Loli.
As a student of Sir Maddy, I was forced to memorize the location and names of every single village, town, and city in all of Silverbell.
But...I didn't remember a village named 'Greenwood' at all.
"No one knows exactly why...but it was destroyed during the First Holy War. It is mainly...believed that...Greenwood was raided by enemy demons...who despised the first hero," Mrs. Loli answered with her stutter almost completely gone at this point.
"Thank you, Mrs. Loli," I said politely.
Dang...that must've sucked for the first hero...
I heard the classroom door open and saw Grey walk in.
For some reason...Grey was acting a little strange.
"Hey...are you alright? You don't look so good right now..." I whispered to Grey with worry once he reached his seat near us.
"I'm...fine...milady. Is the lesson over...yet?" Grey asked me with a strange look in his eyes.
"No...it isn't. Why?" I asked for an explanation.
"No reason...Let's just listen to Mrs. Loli, for now, milady," Grey said as he looked to Mrs. Loli with a bit of worry(?)
Grey was acting...a bit strange...
"The first hero...was special...He was the only person...to have 'copy magic' among Silverbell. Today...'copy magic'...is known as the first hero's unique...magic," Mrs. Loli continued.
Copy magic...?
According to my list of magical attributes...I was supposed to be able to use copy magic too...
...But since I'm the only person in the entire country who can use it right now...there's no one to teach me how to use it.
"I wonder...how the first hero was able to figure out how to use copy magic...He must've been like me, right? There was no one to teach him either..." I muttered under my breath.
"Are you still struggling with your copy magic, milady...?" Grey asked with a smirk as he turned to face me, ignoring pieces of the lecture in the process.
"Ugh...Yeah, I am. Copy magic is literally impossible. How does anyone expect me to just know how to do it?!" I grumbled.
"Watching you suffer from something that should be so easy is quite hilarious, milady," Grey chuckled with a scary grin as he laughed at my inability to use copy magic.
"Are you kidding me?! What gives you the right to say that copy magic is easy?! I'm willing to bet my right to rule Silverbell as the future crown princess that you wouldn't be able to do any better than me!!" I gritted through my teeth.
"You shouldn't bet your right to rule in a gamble that you are sure to lose," Grey laughed as he watched me grow angrier.
"Why am I even arguing with you in the first place!?" I groaned.
"Yes...Why are you arguing with me, milady?" Grey teasingly shot my own question back to me.
"...I swear that one day I'll show you that I can easily use copy magic..." I mumbled underneath my breath.
"Well...Perhaps I could give you advice, milady. Who knows...Maybe I would be able to help you," Grey smirked at me.
"You think you could help me, Grey?! Even Sir Maddy had no clue about copy magic. The only one who would be able to teach me would be the first hero. But in case you haven't realized, HE IS DEAD," I said clearly.
"What would you say if I told you that the first hero was still alive...?" Grey asked me with curiosity in his eyes.
"I would probably tell you to go check yourself out in a mental hospital," I replied automatically.
"I see...I guess it would be quite difficult to believe. The hero died thousands of years ago after all..." Grey smiled with emotion behind his eyes that I couldn't describe with words.
"You are seriously acting a lot stranger than usual today. Are you sure you're alright???" I asked.
"I've never been truly 'fine,' milady. But..." Grey was going to say before his voice trailed off.
"Hmm...?"
"It's nothing, milady. Anyway, I'll offer you some tips for your copy magic...if you give me something of equal value...of course...."
I shuddered.
Striking a deal with Grey was like striking a deal with the devil.
"Hmm...I don't know whether your 'tips' will actually be helpful or not..." I murmured with suspicion in my voice.
"I promise you, milady, that it will be worth it in the end..." Grey said with an untrustable dark smile.
"How about...if you give me some pointers on the weekend when we're out of school and I admit that they're actually helpful...I'll do one favor for you," I said slowly.
Before Grey replied to me, he gave a small dark chuckle that sent shivers down my spine.
"Well then...it's a deal, milady," Grey smiled.
I sighed and quickly looked away from Grey.
His sadistic nature was too much.
"Let's...just listen to Mrs. Loli's lecture...okay?" I muttered.
Mrs. Loli was continuing her story of the first hero.
"The first hero was raised...harshly by his village...with hatred and cruelty. He was neglected by...his peers...and had absolutely no one...who cared for him. His life before being sent off to the holy war...was tragic," Mrs. Loli explained.
I could feel Grey stiffen near me.
I wonder why.
"The villagers believed that Rosewald was cursed. Hero Rosewald...did not care for his village...even after it was destroyed...for these reasons," Mrs. Loli continued.
Well, it made sense.
Why would the hero care about his hometown anyway?
I would've ditched them for treating me harshly too.
"But the kind king of the past...King Scarlos...took Rosewald away from the grasp of the village...and treated him like his own son...while raising and training him...for the war..."
Grey was muttering something under his breath that I couldn't hear.
I think I heard him say a few curse words though...
"The hero...was very talented. Once he was strong...enough to challenge 1,000 royal magic- knights...on his own...he was sent off to battle. The war was hard...on the first hero."
Saying that the war was "hard" was an understatement.
After all, it was a war against all of Macrog's armies.
And the only person who fought for humans was the first hero.
That's right.
Basically, the first hero had to destroy all of Macrog's armies by himself.
All of Silverbell's armies didn't help him...at all.
Instead, they stayed back in the country to defend the people.
Welp.
It must've sucked for the first hero.
"After years of fighting...the first hero was able...to take the head of the...cruel hearted demon king...and save all of Silverbell from the harsh cruelties of...Macrog. He was celebrated...as a hero."
Everybody knows who the first hero is.
You'd have to be living under a rock to not know who he was.
"In the end...he married the princess of the country at the time...Princess Katherine...and lived happily to the end of his days..."
Yep.
The hero married the nation's most beautiful princess.
This whole story was incredibly cliche and overused.
I can't believe it actually happened.
"Me...marry that disgusting trash...? I killed her before I died...I never married that pig..." Grey murmured underneath is breath.
Grey was acting extremely weird.
It was scary.
Actually...right now...I could feel Grey radiate an aura...that was scarier than any other aura I had ever seen him radiate.
"However...the first hero hated attention and power...so he lived quietly and humbly...on his own with his wife...Princess Katherine...far away from the capital. Thus...he made no public appearance after the war..." Mrs. Loli continued.
The first hero sounded kind of like me.
I hated social events because everyone was so fake.
Luckily, my father whole-heartedly agreed with my wishes to not go to any parties.
I think he said something about social parties having too many "scary beasts of men."
Even until the day...I have no idea who my father is referring to when he talks about these "beasts."
Did noble men enjoy having exotic pets?
"Rosewald was found...peacefully dead...on his bed after a check-up from King Scarlos. The first hero...had joyfully lived...with the love of his life...Princess Kath-" Mrs. Loli was about to conclude before Grey slammed his fists on his table.
"Check over this lesson of yours...It's full of the wrong information," Grey muttered as he stared daggers at Mrs. Loli.
Grey looked...weird.
"W-What...? I h-have studied t-this topic many t-times, so t-there is no way I made a mistake," Mrs. Loli replied with surprise as her stutter came back.
"No...Everything you said...it doesn't match..." Grey murmured without yelling.
"E-Everything must be t-true...It h-has been r-recorded this way for millenniums..." Mrs. Loli responded.
"What if it was recorded wrong...? No...it was definitely recorded wrong..."
"P-Please...Everything i-is not w-wrong. T-That would b-be impossible."
"The king sent him off on a single-man war against an entire nation. The king stole him away from his home...his warm family...his lover. Your lecture...Is this how everyone remembers the first hero? Is this what...people think...?" Grey said with pain.
"I-Impossible. K-King S-Scarlos t-treated R-Rosewald as a son...Everything about t-the First Holy War was ch-checked over by him to e-ensure everything w-was recorded c-correctly..."
"Ah...I see...I should've known...Even after that life...I still have to suffer the consequences on my own..." Grey said in a broken voice.
I had never seen Grey act like this before.
He was cruel...confident...and never showed weakness.
And, yet, right now, he looked like a broken doll.
Why...?
Why did he look so conflicted?!
He looked sick.
As if he were on the verge of throwing up from disgust.
"I'm sorry for causing such a scene, milady. It seems that I still feel a bit ill. I will head to the infirmary once more to request an absence for my next class. I will see you soon," Grey said monotonously without looking me in the eye.
I wanted to reach out my hand to stop Grey from leaving and question him for what was wrong, but I was stopped by Florence who just shook his head.
Today was so weird.
There were so many things I didn't understand that were all happening to me at once.
And the day wasn't even halfway over yet.
Eventually class ended, and I was able to let out a small sigh of relief.
After Grey talked back to the teacher, there was a strong tension in the class that wouldn't go away.
"How did you think the class went?" I asked Florence and Ace, who were still sitting next to me.
"I wonder what happened to that servant of yours...Grey doesn't seem to be in his regular mindset today. Maybe one of his torture subjects escaped?" Florence replied sarcastically.
"Something about our lesson must've upset Grey. Perhaps he knows something that we don't," Ace replied to me in a more logical way than Florence.
"Perhaps...I'll talk to him later. I think he needs time to cool his head a bit. He probably doesn't want to see any of us anyway..." I muttered.
"Well then...It is time for lunch. Let's go to a nearby restaurant or cafe to test out the local food before our next classes," Ace said while attempting to cheer me up.
His attempts in making me feel better succeeded.
I was hungry.
After such a stressful day with the twins, their teddy bear, classroom drama, and Grey...
...my stomach was sending me some alert signals.
"The cow is hungry, Lin," I heard Min say behind me.
"She is very simple-minded, Min," Lin also said behind me.
I turned around quickly in an attempt to give them a surprise punch to the face.
But they were able to predict my hits before they landed and easily dodged.
How were they able to guess that I wanted to punch them...?!
"The cow has become violent, Lin," Min said to his twin.
"Maybe we should try to escape, Min," Lin looked to Min.
I gave the two of them the sharpest glare I could muster.
"I'm going to kill you two," I inwardly implied from my expression.
"...Nevermind. Death is inevitable. Running is useless. Goodbye, world. Goodbye, Sin. We loved you," the twins began to mutter their last lines at the same time as they hugged the teddy bear together.
I cracked my knuckles.
At least they knew I wasn't afraid to beat them up.
"Let's ignore these two, Lia. We only have an hour for lunch. Let's get going before lunch ends and we have to go to our third class on an empty stomach," Florence sighed.
"No," both Lin and Min said at once.
"Huh? Why?" Florence asked them.
"We want to mess with the cow," the two responded.
"...Do you two understand what you are saying...?" Florence's expression suddenly changed as the words left his mouth.
"Yes," they both responded without fear.
"You want...to mess with my toy...?" Florence asked a different question as his tone was suddenly changing.
"Yes," the twins said again.
Florence stayed quiet as he gave the two twins a good stare in the face.
Were...there sparks flying?
Finally, Florence spoke.
"That means...you two are just like me! Let's be good friends! Once Grey gets back to his normal self, we can all have some real fun," Florence suddenly brightened as if he just found himself some new partners in crime.
Huh...???
What the heck were these boys talking about?!
I didn't want to understand them.
"Yes, sir!" the two twins nodded along with Florence as if they were his henchmen.
"But remember...that the only person in the world who is my little toy's fiance...is me. Don't let all of our future fun get to your heads...okay?" Florence asked sweetly with poison behind his eyes.
The twins paused for a long time before answering.
"...We shall see what the future holds," the twins smiled as they gave each other a side glance.
"Hah. That's fine...You guys don't have a chance against me either way. We're already engaged after all," Florence chuckled.
Ace gave a small cough at Florence's statement but didn't elaborate any further.
Was Ace sick?
"Hehe...He's interesting too, Lin," Min chuckled.
"Everyone around her is interesting," Lin agreed.
"I wonder why..." they both said as they turned to stare at me.
Shivers went down my spine as I watched them stare at me.
My immediate thought was to run away, but before I could, each of the two twins looped their arms around each of my arms, locking me in between them.
"Kidnapping attempt #1. Mission start," Lin and Min chuckled.
"W-Wait! What?! Florence! Ace! Help me!! They're planning on kidnapping me," I yelled at them.
But Florence and Ace simply sighed and shrugged it off.
"I'll make sure you stay safe from far away. You should have fun with your strange friends. They seem to be very persistent," Ace smiled at me as he waved goodbye.
"Wait! ACEEEEE!!!" I screamed as the twins dragged me out of the room to a different empty one.
Darn it.
If I could, I would've used my strength to break their flimsy arms to pieces...
But then I would get sued by these two rich boys.
And...as the future crown princess...getting sued at school...would be absolutely unacceptable.
Once we reached a quiet area, the twins plopped me on the floor and squatted to the ground to stare at me closely in the face.
"Sin...What do you think...?" Min asked the teddy bear in his arms.
"Will she be able to..." Lin continued before his voice trailed off.
I could see Sin stretch his plushy limbs with a groan.
"Ugh...You f--king fools should let go of me first. What are you two?! Sh-theads?! Or maybe...D--kheads?!" Sin asked them as if everything should've been completely obvious.
The twins did as he asked and placed him gently on the ground while carefully making sure that his stuffing wouldn't spill out from the various holes in his body.
"Oi. B-tch. It's only been a few moments and now I have to listen to your sh-tty voice again. Shouldn't you be giving me a f--king apology?!" Sin asked haughtily as he crossed his plushy arms underneath his pink bow.
"It seems you have grown quite cocky since we've last met so you must've forgotten how powerful I am..." I murmured as I raised my pointer finger threateningly to Sin.
"...Well...f--k."
"Heh. Maybe I should just tickle you here and..." I murmured as I gave a small poke to Sin's teddy bear armpit.
"STOP! Wait. I didn't bring you here for you to give me a f--king tickling session! I brought you here so you could fix my f--king torn-up body," Sin yelled as he held his arms in defense.
"...Huh?" I asked Sin with confusion.
"Are you f--king blind, b-tch?! Just look at me," Sin groaned as he used his plushy arms to point at his missing leg and all of his tears.
"Wait...I don't understand. You want me to sew on another leg for you??? Why me?! Ask a professional stitcher to do it," I yelled in confusion.
"Do you think we haven't tried the f--king obvious sh-t?! How dumb do you think we f--king are?! I mean...these two d--ks aren't the sharpest tools in the f--king shed, but they aren't retarded," Sin said as he pointed at the twins behind him.
"Sin insulted us again, Lin," Min sighed.
"It kind of hurts, Min," Lin also sighed.
"Oh...shut the f--k up or else you'll be hearing a lot more than just some sh-t coming out of my mouth later," Sin rolled his eyes.
I sighed.
This conversation was confusing me and I was hungry.
When was this going to end???
"Get to the point, please...What do you want me to do...?" I asked them politely in hopes that I could leave soon.
"You...have some of that f--king legendary magic, right?! That creation magic or whatever those f--king idiots call it...you have it, right?!" Sin asked me loudly as he looked at me with shining button eyes.
For someone who was cussing quite a lot...he was acting just like an excited puppy.
But...
How did they know that I had creation magic?!?!
I purposely kept that hidden during magic class!
"Well...Yes, I do have creation magic...Why do you need it?" I asked them with suspicion in my words.
"You're going to make me a grand-spanking new f--king leg so I can walk again!" Sin exclaimed as if it was an honor for me to help him.
"...And why should I do that...? I'm not even sure if it would work or not! Obviously, ordinary methods to get you a new working leg didn't work. So why are you so confident with my magic?!" I yelled.
"Just as how destruction magic...is the magic of death..." Min began.
"Creation magic...is the magic of life..." Lin continued.
"So...we want you to breathe life into another leg for Sin...please," Lin and Min begged me as they stared at me with hope.
I felt bad.
To be honest, I didn't think that it would work even if I tried.
But all three of them looked so hopeful that it would hurt me to refuse them.
"I'll...I'll try...But only if Sin says 'the magic word' to me," I forced a smile as I turned to Sin.
"What?! What's the f--king magic word?! I don't need any sh-tty magic words. I need your f--king creation magic! DO IT NOW!" Sin ordered me impolitely.
"What do you say when you're asking someone for a favor?" I asked to tease Sin.
"Hmm...I normally say something along the lines of: 'DO IT NOW, B-TCH!'" Sin screeched.
"Say the magic word first...and then maybe I'll consider doing it..."
"Ah...f--k no."
"The. Magic. Word."
"F--k no, b-tch."
"I can't hear you~"
"Do you wanna die, b-tch? 'Cuz I'll f--king kill you..."
"Lalala~ What did you say? I can't hear you properly~" I sang.
"UGH. FINE, B-TCH!"
"Hmm?"
"P. L. E. A. S. E."
"Say it nicely."
"PLEASEEE!!!!"
"That wasn't nice enough."
"PLEASE."
"Say it even nicer."
"..."
"You have one more chance. Don't mess up."
"...please, ma'am..." Sin finally let out.
Heh.
That was worth it.
"Alright, then~ I guess if you were willing to beg me that much...I'll be generous enough to use my legendary creation magic to make you a new leg...okay?" I teased Sin with a laugh.
"...I swear that I'll f--king murder you in your sleep one day, b-tch...You better watch your f--king back..." Sin began to mutter under his breath.
"Hmm? Sorry, I couldn't hear you. Could you say that again?" I asked with a chuckle.
"...It was nothing...Just start!!!!" Sin groaned with frustration.
"Alright, I will," I sighed.
Using a good portion of my mana, I created fabric and cotton, intertwining them to become an acceptable form for Sin's leg.
Then, I poured in a bit more of my mana into every crevice of the leg to ensure that the leg would be "magical" enough for Sin to be satisfied.
Finally, I intertwined the new leg onto Sin's body, ending my magic spell.
To be honest, I think I did a great job while making the leg.
...It was too bad that the leg wouldn't be able to move anyway.
I braced myself for their disappointment.
"Sin...How does it feel?" Min asked with anticipation.
"Can you walk?" Lin asked with hope.
We all stared at Sin while watching his every movement.
"I...I can't move the leg..." Sin murmured as his head drooped.
I think I could physically see Lin and Min's hearts falling out of their chests when they heard Sin speak.
...Everything happened the way I expected it too.
There was just no way that my creation magic would be able to create a movable leg for Sin.
My creation magic was only able to create things that I "understood" completely.
I did not understand how Sin could move.
Therefore, my leg for him wouldn't be able to do anything.
It was simple but...
...very sad.
"JUST KIDDING, D--KHEADS!!!! I CAN F--KING STAND NOW!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!" Sin screamed as he suddenly hopped up onto his feet, which led him to fall over into a faceplant.
Wait.
It worked?!
What?!?!?!?!
Excuse me?!?!?!
But my creation magic isn't supposed to do things like that!!!!
"Sin...lied...?" Min murmured.
"He can stand now...?" Lin asked with his eyes slowly widening.
"AND SOON I'LL BE ABLE TO F--KING RUN, BABY!!! THE SH-TTY WORLD BETTER BE READY FOR THE F--KING DAY THAT I, SIN, WILL TAKE OVER!!!" Sin screamed in excitement.
"Wait...I don't understand how...This shouldn't be possible..." I murmured to myself.
"HAHAHA!!! YOU D--KHEADS ACTUALLY BELIEVED ME WHEN I SAID IT DIDN'T WORK!!! FOOLS!!!" Sin yelled as he slapped his new plush leg.
"Sin...you can walk again...?" Min asked to reassure himself.
"You can move freely now...?" Lin also asked with a hopeful expression on his face.
Sin simply nodded his head with a huge amount of pride as if he was the one who did all of the work to get that leg of his.
Suddenly, the twins turned to face me.
"Sin, I want to keep her," Min said as he stared at me.
"Me too, Sin," Lin also said as he stared at me as well.
"Huh?! What does that mean?! You can't 'keep' me! I'm not a pet dog. I need to be able to go home!" I yelled at them as I tried to scoot away.
Both of the twins were surrounding me.
"We'll give you all the money and riches you'll ever want..." Lin and Min offered.
"No...I have some good friends and family that I need to get back too..." I declined them automatically.
They could offer me the world...but I would never give away my freedom to them.
That would never be worth it in the end.
"You...don't want our money...either...? But we need to pay you back for Sin's leg!! How about...100,000,000 gold coins??" both of the twins said at the same time.
A H-HUNDRED MILLION GOLD COINS???
Were they insane?!?!?!
That was way too much for a small favor!!!
I could live forever off of that money without ever worrying about it running out no matter how much I use it!!!!!!!!!!
"ABSOLUTELY NOT," I screeched as I stopped them.
Were these two the compulsive spender types?!?!
No way should anyone be able to give away that much money as a thank you gift!!!
Is it because they were hidden characters of the game that they were able to do things like this?!?!?!
If I accept their money, imagine all the people who would try to rob or manipulate me!!!
Imagine how much debt I would owe these twins!!
This was way too ridiculous!!
I don't need that much money!!
"You...won't...take our money...? Why...? Why not...? Your thoughts don't make sense to us..." they asked with clearly confused expressions on their faces.
"You d--kheads are so f--king stupid. It's obviously because she ain't the f--king same as any old girl you'd find on the f--king street," Sin sighed as he watched the twins talk to me.
"Oh yeah...She isn't the same as other girls...She's from a strange place called 'Earth' after all," Lin and Min said as they turned to face me.
I was just about to respond to them casually before I finally understood the meaning behind their words.
My face immediately paled.
And at that moment, all I could think was...
...They knew that I had reincarnated.

A/N: Ahem.

Who knows?
Anyway, the next chapter will be...the twins' special chapter!
It's been a while since I've written a special...so I may be a little rusty...but we'll see if I do okay or not later on...
