But for some reason that even he didn’t know of, the Emperor was instead very invested in his young son; even if there were more children born after, he was still less attentive towards them than him.

More than ten years went by, conflicts started to arouse in court, feuds amongst brothers appeared, times were changing; and yet only Ye Shuo continued to remain the same.

Nobody could expect that, the new Emperor would pass away three years after he took the throne, only leaving behind his one and only child as heir. With painstaking efforts and great difficulty, Ye Shuo finally supported his brother’s only child to the throne; however, he only took away his attention for a moment and just like that, the child was gone.

Seeing how the Ninth Prince after becoming the Emperor continued with his out of sorts behaviour, everyone including the Imperial Tutor had already made preparations to be annexed by the two countries around them.

What they didn’t expect was after a year, the country was still stable.

Three years went by, the common people no longer suffered from any hunger.

After five years, natural disasters started to appear, Ye Shuo took the oppurtunity to send out troops, and then annihilated the two countries.

Looking at this unified territory before them, the courtiers couldn’t believe their eyes.

Who would’ve thought that in Ye Shuo’s previous life, he was actually a genius.

Review: The summary is exactly the 1st part storyline. Each chapter is really long, it takes me 1-2 weeks to finish reading this novel (it's also because I read it on off). I really like how ML's character is deep. There's reason he is afraid of losing his loved one. He keep grieving when he lost his brothers. In the end he need to kill his own nephew. ML complicated feeling is really shown in the story. I cried a lot at the 1st part. Near the end when ML already become emperor, it got bored a little bit. It's because the result is as expected. And it seems the author want to wrap it up, the story become more descriptive like a summary of events. ML married a jianghu woman. His wife knew that ML is actually fragile inside, he easily got hurt when he lost his loved one. He want to stay away from the palace because he knows his brother will kill each other for the throne. He didn't want to see it so he tried to distancing himself. In the end the crown prince suicide, partly because of ML. Not really clear in mtl but it seems the crown prince took wrong path because he is afraid the emperor will abandon him. ML advise him to trust the emperor. But ML letters seems got swapped by 2nd prince. Hence the crown prince felt cornered and suicide. ML took in his nephew the crown prince son. The former crown princess moved to ML territory. Next emperor is ML's 6th brother who live with ML since childhood. He become sickly due to overwork. In the end he died early and make ML as regent. His child is 10 yo and become emperor. ML nephew from the former crown prince tried to kill the 10 yo emperor. ML got angry and disappointed with him. He kill the nephew. Then ML become the emperor. He plan to conquer the other 2 nations. The old minister never believe it and choose to keep peace. Then ML make them retired. He use his own people who he taught with modern knowledge such as mathematic etc. ML took 7 cities from Beiting which is famous with their military power. He then conquer Chen kingdom. The old minister then tried hard to keep their health so they can see ML unite the kingdom. In his 7th year, ML defeat Beiting and unite all kingdom. He got 3 daughters. Then ML plan to make his daughter as emperor. Slowly he make woman become official. Then he allowed woman household. In the end, ML 7th prince make small moves to train the 3 daughters. The 7th prince still want to fight for the throne but he knows he can't win ML. So he accept his fate becoming the princesses whet stone. He suicide and kill his own son after he lost. I skipped the extras because I got bored at the end. It seems about the deads in underworld.
