As soon as I learned magic existed in this world, I had way too many questions. Grandma Gina tried to answer as many as she could but said that the knowledge of magic was mostly for nobles. She sat me in her lap as she sat in her rocking chair in front of the fire. The other kids sat around us as she told us a story that had been passed down to her by her grandmother.

"This nation is made of four great kingdoms. Luminara, Azurethra, Harmonia, and Flourisha. Hundreds of years ago, the four kingdoms were at constant war. They let their pride take over and almost destroyed each other. When they were at their weakest, they were attacked by an army of demons. The demons were underlings of a dark lord, and his only purpose was to kill all the humans and take command of the world.

The four kings decided to set their pride aside and worked together to drive the dark lord away. Our Goddess Freya blessed the four kings for being able to come together at once. She blessed them with powerful magic to rebuild their fallen kingdoms. The king of Luminara was blessed with fire, Azuretha was blessed with water, Harmonia was blessed with wind, and finally, Flourisha was blessed with earth.

The four kings used their blessings to strengthen their kingdoms and protect their people. As years went on, the descendants of the four kings were also born with blessings. After hundreds of years, their bloodlines have grown, and the number of people with blessings has expanded everywhere. While nobles possess the strongest blessings, common folks can also be granted blessings.

That is why we worship the goddess. She still keeps an eye on us and protects us from danger. We give all we have to her as our savior."

The old woman's story sounded like a fairytale, but this story was known by the people as a history story. The start of the four great kingdoms.

When I reached the age of five, I started sneaking out of the house to visit the forest. I made sure not to get caught by Grandma Gina. Turned out that the little cub that had saved me from those bandits never left my side. He stayed close to the house on the edge of the woods. After the first time I saw him, I started sneaking out to go see him. He had grown very large in the five years I hadn't seen him. While I was still a small child, he was a full-grown lion bigger than any lion I had seen in picture books in my past life. He had large white wings on his back that he could hide if he wanted to. His paws were huge and could probably crush me if he stepped on me.

He seemed to be attached to me and would stay by my side every time I went into the forest. I decided to name him Alaska, and he seemed quite happy with the name. After I had named him a glowing crown crest formed on his forehead before fading away. After that, we could feel each other's emotions and feelings. I could tell where he was even from a distance so I could tell if he was close even if I was at home. It turned out that he was an intelligent and rare species, and he had acknowledged me as his owner. He could even use water magic.

Alaska had started teaching me magic, and since we had formed a magical contract, it was easy for me to tell what he wanted me to do. He started by placing his forehead against mine and letting me feel his magic flowing into my body. I was able to recognize my magic thanks to his. The warmth that I always felt lingered in my body from the woman I had met before, was in this body. It felt so similar to Alaska's magic.

He showed me how he controlled his magic and had me copy him. At first, I only used water magic, believing the stories that a person could only have one blessing, but I learned by accident that water was not my only gift. I could use all four elements with ease, and I seemed to have a large magic supply. I was curious if I could wield other magic as well so Alaska and I had experimented. He showed me how to use my magic to hide my presence and search my surroundings. He even helped me learn how to use my magic to strengthen my own body so that I could throw a heavy punch and run faster than a horse.

Alaska had become my closest friend and even my teacher. He knew things most humans probably wouldn't know, so I knew he wasn't a normal magical lion. The only thing that mattered to me was that he cared about me and wanted to protect me. He even would leave animals he hunted at the orphanage for the kids to eat. I also tried to help with the garden. Using earth magic, I could help the vegetables grow faster and larger than before.

The small village that the orphanage was in had mostly farmers and a few stores. Although there was a large city close by, so many travelers passed by and sometimes stayed the night in the inn. Lily was very careful not to tell anyone she had magic since nobody in her village could use magic. She was known by the villagers as a wonderer. She would wander around the forest alone, looking for new things. It was her story to keep her magic lessons a secret. She had decided that when she was old enough, she would leave the small village and travel all over the world. She badly wanted to see all four kingdoms and promised herself that one day she would see everything.
