She screamed looking her brother in the eyes. At the sight of the Liliana Kingsley, every man lowered his sword and took a few steps back but did not put them away. Taking a slow look around to make sure no one would attack and provoke the beast. Lily slowly turned to face the still-snarling wolf. Giving her a gentle smile. Lily slowly focused her mana towards the beast to calm her down. No one said a word as they watched the duke's daughter staring directly into the eyes of a beast and not saying anything. They almost looked like they were communicating. The crowd was even more in shock when they watched the wolf hide her teeth and sit down. Since she was calm now Lily took the chance to get a good look at her calm state. She looked familiar somehow. Like a lightbulb going off in her head. Lily's smile grew as she walked closer to the wolf.
"By any chance, have you lost two little balls of fur?"
At her words, Wolf's head perked up as she began to make intense eye contact and her tail started wagging. Giggling Lily bravely put her hand on her snout and she began to scratch behind her ears.
"Awww, you poor thing. You aren't a wild beast. You're just a mother looking for your children. You probably saw the weapons and began to panic, but you still didn't attack anyone. You're such a good girl aren't you."
The wolf began to happily lick the girl's face as she finally found someone who could help her. She didn't want to be around people, but her children wandered off and she had no choice but to seek them out herself.
"Come follow me, I'll bring you to your kids."
Lily turned around as she began to walk back toward the tea house. The only problem was that there was now a crowd around them. Clearing her throat Lily announced.
"The issue is being resolved, you may all go about your business as usual. I'm very sorry for the disturbance." With a kind smile, Lily walked through the crowd as they parted for her. The wolf followed behind and her brother behind her. He was still confused about the earlier events just like everyone else here.
The very image of a wild magical beast following his sister around like a loyal lap dog had him looking up at her in amazement. She was truly something out of this world. The way she spoke and acted was different from anyone else he knew. Her behavior towards nobles and politics confused him because even though she was smart enough to do well in them. She would simply say they didn't interest her and read about magic and herbs instead.
Although his sister was thin and frail-looking, she was strong enough that a powerful magical beast purred under her touch. It scared him sometimes to wonder just what his sister was capable of if she put her mind to it. Her familiars alone could cause enough havoc, but Lily herself was a different story.
He grew up with her and would often tease her like a brother should. Sometimes when he would go too far and Lily would get mad, small storms of mana would swirl around her. Whether it be wind water or fire. Of course, he didn't blame her for mana outbreaks. He out of everyone knew that Lily had too much mana.
She had to constantly use her mana somehow to give her some relief but if she stopped using it all together she would get tingly and wouldn't be able to sleep. She explained it to him once as a terrifying feeling. She told him it made her feel invincible like nothing could touch her. Having too much mana inside her would make her attitude slightly change to annoyed and cocky. Like the mana was overwhelming her body and trying to provoke her to use it.
She had come up with ways to prevent such accidents from happening. She used her magic daily for anything she could. Constantly using it helps keep her magic calm. As long as she was using it, it wouldn't try to provoke her and she would be in a clear enough mind to use magic correctly.
Lily used her magic often to change the design of the gardens on the duke's estate. One day you might see roses, the next lavender, and a few days later it would be sunflowers. Of course, everyone loved getting to see the garden changing often. They started calling it the enchanted garden and most had no idea how it happened.
She also kept up large healthy gardens that she used her magic to grow and water daily. She said they would taste sweeter if they were still grown slowly with care. Her magic still quickened the process of them growing. Fruit trees and different kinds of vegetables. She gave some to the kitchen but donated most of them to orphanages and churches. Although she never delivered them herself.
Due to the weekly visits of free food to every orphanage and church, Lily had unconsciously became the most important benefactor to them and they spread her name with kind words and gratitude. No one knew it was because Lily needed to keep finding creative ways to use her magic to keep it tame and she didn't want the food to go to waste. Although her kind heart did buy warm blankets and clothes for the orphanages she herself grew up in one and felt some sort of kinship to them.
As long as she could use her magic freely and stay calm she was fine. In fact, she was perfect. Such a sweet and innocent look on her face and actions. She treated everyone with respect and gained theirs in doing so. Alex watched his sister walk with the large beast as he made a silent oath to protect his sister from anything. He wouldn't be able to breathe in a world without her.
