While the duke and dutchess were talking in private. Alexander had brought Lily to the main garden just like he was asked to.
He brought her over to a gazebo with a foundation beside it and lively bushes and trees all around them.
"This should be a good spot," Alexander said while looking around at the garden.
"This garden is so big!" Lily looked around at her surroundings in amazement.
"So Father said you have familiars? What kind do you have?" The boy couldn't help his excitement as he asked. Familiars were a well-known subject, but not many magic users were lucky enough to make contracts for themselves. His first thought was maybe birds or something small enough she could hide in her dress. Her face lit up as she remembered that Arthur asked her to introduce them to his son.
"They are very big and beautiful, but you have to promise you won't freak out, ok?"
Offended that this little girl thought she was going to freak him out just by showing him her familiars. The boy rolled his eyes and just looked at her expectingly. She sighed in defeat as she called out to her lively familiars.
"Alaska, Drago, you can come down now!" The girl shouted up at the sky, which made the boy look up just as two giant monsters landed right beside the girl. His eyes went wide as he looked at a large cat with wings and a large black dragon that looked like he had a crown on his head due to his horns. He took a few steps back and automatically reached for the sword strapped to his hip. His hand froze on the handle as he watched the two beasts start to nuzzle their heads against the girl's body.
"Calm down. We just saw each other outside of town." Lilly giggled as her familiars acted like puppies at her touch. Alaska's fur was tickling her ears when she finally looked back up to the boy who had one hand on his sword, but his eyes looked like they would pop out of his head.
"Alaska, Drago, this is Alexander. Please be nice to him." The two creatures looked at the human boy that quickly released his grip on his sword. They bowed their heads in respect and went back to rubbing their heads on their master.
"How did you make contracts with a dragon and a winged lion?" Alexander desperately wanted to touch them, but he could feel the power they emitted and was cautious to walk any closer.
"Alaska found me when I was new at the orphanage and stayed close to me ever since. I found Drago in a cave when he was still an egg, I hatched him myself with my magic."
She noticed that he was reluctant to move closer but that his eyes said otherwise. "You know you can pet them. They won't hurt you."
At the girls' words, he took a few cautious steps forward before he was standing in front of Drago. He held up his hand but couldn't move it any further. Lily used her link to the creature to ask him to move closer so that he could be touched. At her command, the dragon moved his head to the boy's hand so that he could feel his scales. Lily giggled at the boy's freaked-out expression when her dragon moved only a little.
"Would you like to ride him?"
"Ride? I don't think I could, I mean, he's your familiar, not mine."
"Don't worry about it. Drago is very good at flying with me on his back, so I don't think it would be a problem if you rode him."
After much convincing that it would be safe, the boy slowly climbed on Dragos's back as Lily got settled on Alaska.
"Alright guys, remember to hide your presence so that we don't freak people out. Let's stay around the estate, ok?" The creatures made sounds of approval as they started to flap their wings.
They soared through the air in circles above the duke's estate. At first, Alexander held on for dear life like he was afraid to fall. He slowly relaxed and even held his arms out in the air, enjoying the gentle breeze. They could see all the maids and guards walking around outside. Nobody had any idea that two powerful creatures were flying right over their heads.
"This is amazing!" The boy shouted. He had heard stories of people riding on the backs of dragons, but he had never even dreamed he would get the chance one day. He looked over at the small girl riding on the large lion in amazement. Although he was young, he started to understand why his father brought home this small-looking commoner.
They heard their names being called as they looked down to see the duke and his wife walking around the garden looking for them. He called out to his father and mother as he waved his hand in the air. When the couple looked up to the sky, they saw their son floating in the air, and the duchess almost passed out from shock. Lily giggled as she knew that Drago was invisible right now and that the boy looked like he was just floating in the air. She sent a command to her familiars to slowly land by the duke and to show their presence when they were close enough to the ground. As soon as they landed, the boy jumped off the dragon and ran up to his parents.
"Mother! Father! I got to ride a dragon!"
Lily walked up to the couple and bowed her head apologeticly.
"I'm sorry if we scared you."
Arthur just laughed and patted his son on the head.
"I will admit I was shocked. Do you think I could ride him as well?" Lily giggled at the duke as she nodded her head in agreement.
"It's good for them to stretch their wings, and I think practicing with other riders would be good for them in the long run." She then turned to her familiars as she introduced the dutchess to them. This ended in Gabriella asking if she could ride Alaska.
