My house was too small for everyone. I was now responsible for three more lives. Josephine and Adeline were playing on the floor while Joseph watched them awkwardly. I handed Elliot and Bastian each a cup of herbal tea.

"I will be right back, ok?" I smoothed down Elliot's hair. She was shaking. I glanced towards the kids and Josephine smiled up at me. She was doing a good job distracting Adeline. "Hey, Elliot, honey." She looks up at me. "Everything will be ok now. You are safe here." She wraps her arms around me and starts to cry again. I hugged her back, remembering how it had felt for her whole village to turn their backs on her. "Don't worry, nothing like that will happen again."

"I wanna learn how to control my magic, Mariposa." She lets go and looks up at me. Her tear stained face broke my heart.

"And you will." I stated. "I will teach you with Josephine." I motion to the little girl. "And, eventually, Adeline will discover her magic too and when that happens I will teach her as well."

"What about me?" Bastian asks as he grips the cup of tea.

"Seth will train you to be strong. You will use weapons and hunt." I smiled at him as a weight seemed to lift off his shoulders. "Everyone will learn something and everyone will be able to help."

"Alright." He mumbles. I pat his head and walk out of the house. Seth trails close behind me like a shadow.

"What are you going to do, Mariposa?" He leans against the side wall of our house. I turn to him slowly.

"Well, my first idea was to go and murder everyone that hurt that poor family and go back to the village where I found Josephine and Joseph and burn it to the ground." He doesn't even flinch at my words. "Instead, I have decided to create a house for them to use."

"That drained your energy last time." He grunted.

"Well, last time I hadn't rested in two weeks or something. This time I am well rested and powerful." He just nods at my words and watches me warily. I place my hand flat against a tree. Seth comes to stand next to me. The ground shakes slightly as the walls form around us just like last time.

"Tell me about when you were caught." Seth says. He was staring at me with worry and sadness sparked up inside of me. "What got you caught?"

"In my village every woman was taught the basics of medicine." I decided that was a good way to start my story. "Although, it was considered against the will of the king to study women's bodies. So, this made childbirth difficult. Well, I had created a paste that dries like a skin to stop patients from bleeding out. Bertha, our village nurse, often called on me, but this last time it had been her daughter, Samantha, dying because of childbirth." Tears welled up in my eyes and I took a shaky breath. "When I was called to the scene every woman of the village was there. I tried to forget who the girl was and treat her like a stranger. Then, my paste didn't work. We had no way to save her. I was afraid that I would lose her when my powers sparked out. I didn't even know I had healing powers yet, but it saved her life."

"So, the women of the village tattled on you?" He looked at me with horror. "Right after you saved someone?"

"Not quite." Tears started to fall down my face. "Samantha's husband ran out of the tent and tattled on me. The women stared at me. Some of them helped in my capture but what I remember the best is Bertha asking me what I had done..." I pause with a startled gasp. "Bertha!"

"What?"

"Bertha's a witch!" The house completely forms and I spin to Seth. "Bertha was a witch that's why she helped me back up when my father pushed me. That's why she always watched me closely!"

"So, what will you do with that information?" He was smiling at me.

"We have to go to my hometown!"

"We?"

"Me and you." I smiled up at him. "In a month from today, you and I will go back to my hometown. During this month I will train the girls and help Elliot with her trauma so she can be happy. During this month you will train the boys and hunt. Towards the end of this month you and I will go into the town on the beach and gather supplies that they can use while we are not here." I smiled up at Seth. "Then we will go on a short trip, we will talk to Bertha and Samantha and see if they want to join us. Then we can ask them about any other witches they may know."

"I think this is the first time I have seen you look this excited, Mariposa." We exit the newly created house.

"Bertha was there when I fell, Seth. That makes her a person of honor." I look up at the man. "She helped an accused witch when no one else would. If I can have a woman like that back in my life I will be glad." We paused in front of the door of my house.

"Why do you want me to go with you?"

"Because, if I have to choose anyone to be my fake husband I would want it to be you, Seth." I looked at him. He wasn't that pressed clean man I had met. He looked more rugged, he looked a little more crazy.

I liked that.
