Bringing the baby home caused an uproar. Elliot wanted to hold her, Josephine wanted to hold her, Adeline wanted to hold her, the boys were scared to hold her. They were rushing me with questions.

"Mari, I don't think I am old enough to take care of a baby by myself." Elliot was fidgeting now that everyone had calmed down. We were sitting on the couches in front of the stone fireplace.

"Don't worry," I reassure her, "I will be taking the baby with me on my trip this time." She lets out a sigh of relief. The baby was now staring at everything with wide eyes. I gave her a mashed up liquid made out of tree nuts that was as close to milk as I could get. It should give her the needed nutrients.

"When are you leaving?" Bastian asks. He was eating some of the leftover meat. "How long will you be gone?"

"A little over two weeks. We will leave tomorrow." They all stared at me as they processed this. "The sooner we leave the better. I already delayed it enough to train the growing witches so that no accidents would happen while I am away. A month is a long time, a lot can happen." I stare into the baby's shining blue eyes.

"Alright." Bastian grumbles. He needed to eat more. He was getting too thin.

"I will be leaving before any of you wake up." I tack on. "This way it will be like starting a day all on your own. I believe in you guys." They grumbled and I led Joseph and Josephine to their room and tucked them in. When I came down stairs the other three kids were still there instead of in their own house.

"Can you tuck me in too, Mari?" Adeline asks me. I lift her up.

"Of course I can." I walk out of my house with Bastian and Elliot tailing me. I lower Adeline into her bed and she giggles. She had her sister's midnight hair. She was so cute. "Goodnight, Adeline." I give her a kiss on the forehead.

"Goodnight, Mariposa." She gives me a kiss on the cheek and then falls asleep, snoring softly.

I turn to her older siblings. "Do you want me to tuck you guys in too?" I ask with a small laugh as we walk out of the toddler's room. The baby was sleeping soundly in my arms. "What's on your mind?" I ask the two as I take a seat on their couch.

"When did you discover your powers, Mari?" Elliot asks. She avoids my gaze. A glass cup appears in my hand and cold water fills it. I take a sip.

"Three months ago, give or take." Bastian takes in a sharp inhale. I smirk. "I know, for only having powers for a short period of time, I am strong." They both nod. "The important thing is that I will never hurt you two." I smiled gently and they softened. "I haven't found my true limit yet. When I do, I will let you know."

"Will my powers be like yours?" Elliot grumbles.

"No." Her head snaps up in attention. "I don't know why but your powers progress much slower than mine did. It's the same way for Josephine. Her powers in animating the dead grow just as fast as mine and just the same with your fire. The thing is that it is just the powers relating to that. My hypothesis is that each witch's bloodline has a main power." I rock the baby in my arms. "So, Adeline will have the same powers as you and any women sharing your blood will as well."

"What about the men?" Bastian asks. "There really isn't any such thing as a male witch right?" They were smart. It made me smile.

"That's the thing." I look up at the children. "You might not have magic but you have some sort of tolerance to fire, right?" He nods. "Elliot, have you noticed how your magic and emotions spike around Seth?"

"Yes?"

"I think he is a witch's descendant and that there is a small trace of magic in every single man birthed from a witch." I stand up. "I can't wait to see what Joseph's odd thing will be." I smile. "Well, kiddos, I gotta get packing."

"Ok!" They waved me off with a smile even as they considered this new information. The more informed they are, the stronger they will become. Whatever I learn has to be passed to the other witches. Knowledge is power.
