Explaining all the things that had happened to Seth had taken a while but he stood by my side as I explained to Bertha and some of the older women everything that had taken place. Many women had dropped to their knees and started praising me... their goddess.
Now, Seth and I sat on the porch of our house watching Leon running around and playing with wooden swords with Joseph. I was gripping Seth's hand so tightly as I thought about everything that had happened, yet I was happy as I watched Tobias smile at his wife and daughters as they strolled past, waving at us.
There were going to be so many things we were going to have to get used to. Starting with the fact that my eyes were now permanently lavender.
"Are you sure the new eye color doesn't throw you off?" I asked as I looked at Seth, he smiled at me with that lopsided smile of his. His memories had unlocked at around the same time my powers had and it was strange.
"No, it looks more like you." He said gently.
"Mommy!" I turned to see Josephine running towards me, hand in hand with Adeline. "Can we feed Hazel these apples that Elliot bought at the market?!"
"Of course you can." I said with a happy smile at the two girls. Sally, my gecko, was perched on Josephine's shoulder. He was a little traitor deciding to spend the better part of his time with her than with me, probably because I had left him with her on all of the trips I had taken.
"Butterfly?" I turned, my face flushing with happiness when I heard the nickname. "Will you take a walk down to the beach with me?"
"I'd be happy to." I say as he stands and reaches out a hand. "I would never pass up the opportunity to be alone with you, Seth." He smiled at that as I took his hand.
He led me down to the beach. The rough calluses of his palm gave me a sense of comfort as the smell of salty water grew stronger. There was no one else on the beach as there typically wasn't.
We started traveling down the length of the beach at a slow pace, enjoying each other's company when his hand slipped from mine. I turned and while I turned I watched him sink down to one knee. He pulled a small box out his pocket.
"Mariposa?"
"Yes?" I breathed out with a sigh as he opened the box, revealing a beautiful silver ring that was covered with small lavender diamonds. He grabbed my left hand and brought it to his lips. My stomach did a flip as I stared at him.
"Will you marry me?"
"Yes!" I shouted and he chuckled. He pulled the ring out of the box and I saw that it had something engraved on the inside. He slid the ring onto my ring finger and stood, pulling me into a long, passionate kiss.
"What does the inside of the ring say?" I ask, kind of breathlessly as he pulls away.
"To the next adventure, together." I nodded at his words even as an ominous shiver coursed down my spine.
"Together."
