“I don’t know how you badass assassins do things, but standing in an empty hospital car park doesn’t really seem like a thrilling adventure.” Jace commented dryly as he stared around the empty car park, only the other patients and visitors cars filled it and a few ambulances that were surrounding us.

It was the day we went to the hospital to track down the drug dealers that were stashed here, blending in just like a normal people. If it wasn’t for the tips we had gotten, we could have been looking for a needle in a haystack. It could be anyone, the secretaries, nurses, doctors, patients. You name it; it could have been a possibility.

But due to our very handy way of acquiring information (using a pair of pliers in creative ways certainly loosens people up to start sharing what they know) we knew who we were targeting. There were the 3 nurses that we knew for sure were dealing, one doctor and a paramedic. As for their little back up team, also in the hospital to make sure the dealers had protection if anything went wrong, we were clueless as to how many of them there were. Guess we would find that our when the time came.

This should be fun.

I slipped my hands in my leather jacket, pulling it closer around my body as I stared at Jace, who was clearly bored. He had been excited all morning as well as nervous about going with us to do this job and waiting in a car park for half an hour was not the adrenaline rush he had hoped for. Chris was keeping look out for the target to come out, and I gave Jace an amused grin as I leaned my back against the ambulance that we were all hiding behind and waiting. I raised my knee and placed the bottom of my foot against the ambulance, looking completely relaxed as I couldn’t help the amusement in my face.

“What were you expecting, helicopter explosions and Chinese men doing martial arts off an ambulance?” I ask him. He doesn’t reply straight away as he looked a little dazed. I notice his eyes were not on my face, but he was staring at the way I was leaning back against the ambulance.

The grin spread over my lips as I pressed my back against the ambulance, slipping my hand out of my leather jacket and pressing my palm against the cold surface behind me. I moved my hips slightly, biting my bottom lip and letting out a breath that resembled a moan “Jace?”

He licked his lips, and I had to bite back the laughter. He was full on getting turned on as I pressed my back against the ambulance? That boy has issues. I couldn’t help but notice how much I was enjoying this though, as I traced my fingers from my thigh up to my hips slowly, teasing him and mocking him with every movement. From the lustful look on his face, it was working. Again, I had to bite back laughter. This really was too easy. Having this hold over a man, Jace especially, was certainly entertaining. As his immoral eyes bore into my every movement, I suddenly felt myself getting a little turned on just from the look he was giving me.

“He’s here!” Chris called out suddenly, and I had to admit I forgot he was here. Wow, guess I got a bit carried away with that. Jace snapped out of whatever trance he was in, looking up and around to Chris abruptly at the interruption of his voice.

“Whose here?” Jace questions, looking back around to me and I notice a slight flush at his cheeks as he spots my knowing grin, telling him I knew exactly what he was picturing a minute ago.

“Target number 1.” I simply replied, pushing myself off the ambulance and walking past him. His eyes followed my every move, and as I brushed past him our eyes met and I actually felt a shiver run down my back at his gaze. I shook my head, snapping out of it and told myself I was on a mission. This came first, don’t let anything distract you. Especially not Jace.

I stood next to Chris, bending forward slightly as I too spotted the paramedic who was sat in the smoking area of the car park alone. He was clueless that we were here, watching him. I also noticed the two cameras that were pointing at his direction on the wall, meaning we could not just shoot him there and then.

“We need to find a way to get him behind this ambulance, or the camera is going to snap this whole thing up.” I inform Chris, who nods in agreement. I notice Jace next to me now, also peeking at the clueless paramedic who took another puff of his cigarette.

“Why don’t you just call him over?” Jace asks.

“He’s a dealer Jace, he knows better than to go into a dark corner of a car park when 3 strangers call him over.”

He nods in agreement “Fair point.”

“So we need a subtle way to get him over, one that would not strike alarm in him...” Chris drifts off, thinking over our options. I too am thinking about something we could do, but every conclusion I come to ends in me just walking over and shooting him. Fair enough the police couldn’t touch us, but we really couldn’t rub it in their face. As much as I would love to.

“I got it!” Jace almost yells, making me jump a little and take a step back. Chris and I turn to look at him, brows furred as we waited to hear his solution. Instead of using words to explain his plan, Jace takes two steps forward so he is directly in front of Chris and before I could process what is going on Jace punches Chris in the gut with an almighty force, causing him to buckle over at the sudden loss of oxygen. He begins to cough and splutter, the blow obviously knocking the breath entirely out of him.

My mouth is hanging open and I find it hard to process what just happened. Jace turns and walks forward so he is no longer behind the ambulance we were hiding behind, clear so the paramedic could see him but not far enough for the camera to spot him.

“HELP, COME QUICK MY FRIEND IS HAVING AN ASHTMA ATTACK!” Jace calls out in a panic, and I peak my eyes around to see the paramedic instantly respond to Jace and drop his cigarette, getting into work mode and running over.

I turn to Jace who looks at me with a smug smirk as he grabs his collar and flicks it out, showing me just how proud of his idea he was “And that ladies, it’s how it’s done.”

I raise my brows, impressed by his quick decision and action. To my utter surprise, he had done well and got results. The paramedic was running behind the ambulance, and in about 6 seconds he would be out of shot of the cameras.

I step backwards so my back is against the edge of the ambulance, waiting for the paramedic to run around “I’m impressed Dixon, maybe you won’t be a burden through this mission.”

His lip tugs “You have such a way to shower me with compliments.”

A smirk spreads on my lips, and I see the paramedic run around so he is about 4 feet away from me, not having spotted me yet and just focusing his eyes on Chris.

“Do you have his inhaler?” The paramedic asks Jace instantly as he stares over at Chris, who is still trying to catch his breath from the blow to the stomach. Jesus, that must had been quite some punch.

Jace shrugged, and then looked amused “Sorry, did I say asthma attack? I meant to say my friend has gone into labour.”

I snort silently at his comment, as the paramedic looks back at Chris, who is clearly a man coughing with a red face, then back at Jace thinking he just got punkd by some bratty teenager.

“Do you think wasting a paramedic’s time if funny?” The man asks angrily.

“Extremely.” Jace replies.

I reach into the pocket of my jacket, aiming for my knife to end this fool so we could go inside and carry on with the other dealers. Total wipe-out was in store for the day, as well as hopefully getting the drug lords name, or even postcode. Hell a strand of hair that belonged to him would have been a godsend right now; we had nothing to indicate who the hell he was or where he was at.

The dealer had ears like a hawk, because as soon as I slid my hand against the leather, he immediately turned and his eyes grew wide as he realised straight away what was going on. He went straight into fight mode, and his fist came flying to my face, which I ducked instantly and he ended up hitting the side of the ambulance. While I was crouched down I sent a sharp jab to his abdomen, knocking the air out if him. I grabbed his shoulder both hands and kneed him hard in the stomach, before face slamming him into the side of the ambulance. He recovered quickly, twisted and kicked me hard in the stomach.

I drew back catching my breath so I was now by the door of the ambulance. He dived at me again, and I gripped the back of his head as I dodge him and smashed his head through the ambulance window, before yanking his head back by his hair, opening the ambulance door. I placed his head inside the door, and with almighty strength slammed the door with his head still there multiple times until his body went limp.

Target eliminated.

I opened the ambulance door fully, and turned to Jace. He had seen me kill a lot of people by now, but he still looked amazed at what I had just done. I could see he was impressed from his cocked eyebrow, but I could also see something else in his face. Was it distress?

“Need the help of a strong man right now, but you’re going to have to do.” I gestured for Jace to come over and help me lift the paramedic’s body into the front of the ambulance. He nodded and walked over, single headedly picking the guy up with just the material of his uniform and tossing him in the ambulance like he was a feather. I shut the door, and gave him an amazed look.

“You’ve obviously been abusing your gym membership.” I comment on his strength, and he smiles proudly, before lifting his arm and kissing his bicep. I laugh at him “remind me to challenge you to an arm wrestle when we get home.”

He snorts “Darling your pistols are nothing compared to these guns.”

I raise my eyebrows at his challenge “Oh later tonight it’s on like donkey kong.”

He grins at me, and once again he does that thing where he makes it seem like everything else around us just wasn’t there, it was just us two sharing a moment like we did 3 years ago, just our gazes locked with each other. I took in his playful smile, and got lost in it.

Once again, Chris interrupted the moment “Next time you come up with one of your glorious plans, let’s talk about it first!” he breathes out painfully, still rubbing his stomach from the pain.

Our eyes snap away from each other and we stare at Chris. Jace’s face turns amused, before he shrugged casually “We needed a plan and fast.”

“You could have just told me and I would have faked it! No need to give me internal bleeding!” Chris whined. I snorted with laughter.

“I wanted to go for authenticity.” Jace countered, still trying to fight the amused look on his face “It worked didn’t it?”

Chris glared at Jace, but I could see the humour in his eyes. They were like school boys fighting playfully. Amazing how two people can become friends in such a short space of time.

“Anyway, can we please get inside? We still have some nurses, doctors and secretary to kill.” I interrupt, getting back to the mission at hand “Chop chop, no time to waste ladies.”

**

“Right, I’m going to take the 3rd and 4th floor where the doctor and two of the nurses are. You can take the first two floors where the secretary and the other nurses are.” I inform Chris as we looked at the cameras of the hospital. We had found the security room where the 3 or 4 dozen tiny screens showed almost every inch of the hospital. We had spotted the doctor who was handling what looked like more than just prescription medicine already.

“Did you really have to kill this guy?” Jace asks from behind us, looking at the lifeless security guy who was staring up at the ceiling stone cold while blood was pouring out of his head.

“Jace, judging by the automatic weapon that is stashed in the locker behind him, he was more than just a security guard of the hospital.” I quickly inform him. I don’t turn, but I can hear the locker opening behind me as Jace follows up on my accusation.

“Jesus woman, do you have x-ray vision?” Jace almost shrieks as he must have landed his eyes on the machine gun I saw in the locker when we walked in. The security guard was a back up for the dealers, keeping an eye on things down here and making sure any tapes of them being caught selling their supplies conveniently went mission or didn’t record properly. Smart on the drug lord’s part.

“Right, so we have to lead them to some place where we can off them without drawing too much attention.” Chris continues ironing every part of the plan out, and I nod in agreement. I stand up straight, and from the corner of my eye I notice Jace pick up the machine gun staring at it in fascination.

“Call of Duty really did you no justice...” Jace mutters, talking to the gun in admiration. I had to bite my lip to stop the laugh that I wanted to let out.

Chris stands to his feet and glances at the cameras once more before his eyes land on me, and we exchange a look to say the plan is in motion. After years of working together, we have established just how well we do work together.

“Good luck buttercup, I’ll find you once I’ve cleaned house on my floors.” Chris grins, and I nod. He then remembers Jace in the room, and we both look at him while he is still trailing his fingers over the machine gun, looking like he is in love with the automatic weapon in his hand. I swear he is looking at that gun like it was a hot naked woman in his arms.

Chris turns to me “You can take him.”

I snap my eyes to him, and just as I’m about to protest I close my mouth, realising it was probably for the best. We couldn’t leave Jace here alone, knowing him he would somehow fall and impale himself on one of the buttons on the control panel of the security cameras. And plus, I knew him. I would know how to handle him.

Chris turns to the dashboard, pressing a few buttons and not before long he has disabled every single camera in the hospital so that none of our actions will be recorded. He turns and gives me another quick grin, before turning and walking out of the security room, throwing two of his fingers over his shoulder while shouting ‘Peace!’ as he exits.

I shake my head, and then walk over to Jace. I basically have to pry the machine gun away from his arms, and he looks at me and pouts when I do. His eyes were almost begging why i had taken away his toy.

“...before you shoot yourself.” I explain slowly, like I was talking to a child “Anyway, your with me. Keep up, don’t draw too much attention to yourself and if you see someone who looks like they might try and kill you, get in there first.”

“Wow, your pep talks are inspiring.” He comments sarcastically. I nod my head towards the machine gun in my hand.

“I’m holding an automatic weapon. I wouldn’t use sarcasm against me right now.” I tell him sweetly, and again the asshole grins at my threat, finding it amusing. I shake my head in annoyance. I reach into the locker, grabbing the security guards duffle bag and tipping it upside down to empty it out, before placing the machine gun into it and zipping it up. I fling the bag over my shoulder and gesture for Jace to follow me “C’mon idiot, let’s go kill some dealers.”

“Will there be Chinese men doing martial arts and a helicopter exploding as we make our great escape once were done?” Jace asks from behind me, and I could basically hear his smirk as he threw my own words back at me teasingly.

I debated on hurting him, justifying that we were in a hospital so he could get the medical help he needed once I was done.

So why the hell was i trying not to smile?
