So in the duration of time Jace has taken to go to the hospital toilet to pee, I had already managed to take out the dealer doctor and 3 hospital porters that tried to protect him. All 4 corpses were currently stashed in a cleaning cupboard, waiting for the janitor to find them and probably have a tiny heart seizure as he did.

Jace had walked off while we were trailing the hospital hallways, claiming he needed to ‘shake the anaconda.’ Nice to know his self esteem is anything but low.

I gripped onto the handle of the duffle bag that was on my back, gritting my teeth as I scanned the hallway and peeked into the rooms to see if there was any sign of Jace. He had been gone for about half an hour now. Either he had fallen down the toilet, or the idiot had got himself killed.

It was amazing how little the doctors and nurses noticed me as I walked through the hospital. They were clearly so caught up in their own lives and work they didn’t think it was the slightest bit suspicious that a little blonde girl with a clattering duffle bag on her back was wondering frantically around the hospital.

As I peeked into one of the rooms, hoping to see Jace inside it, I felt someone push me so I went stumbling into the room. My agent instincts completely took over, and in one swift movement I swung the duffle bag around to hit the guy in the head, which would cause some damage considering it had quite a few heavy guns in there. The guy ducked the bag with agility, and stood straight back up holding his hands in defence.

“Woah, Woah Chill Faith It’s me!” Jace exclaimed rapidly, obviously not wanting to be knocked out.

I narrowed my eyes at him and my body relaxed slightly once I realised the person pushing me into the room was not out to kill me.

“Where the hell have you been?” I hissed “No man has ever taken that long to pee!” My eyes widened as I finally looked him up and down and realised what he was wearing. “What the hell are you doing playing dress up?!”

He grinned boyishly, and lifted the white overcoat while glancing at it and shrugging “Oh, this old thing?”

I still had been unable to close my mouth as I stare him over in disbelief. He was wearing a doctor’s uniform. Blue top and pants, along with white shoes and a white overcoat. He really pushed the boat out to complete his look, he even had a stethoscope slung around his shoulders.

“Where did you get that?”

The grin was almost tattooed to his face “I may have found it in someone’s locker. That’s why I took so long.”

I looked at him suspiciously “How exactly did you get in the locker?”

He shrugged “Picked the lock.”

“You know how to pick locks?” I ask in disbelief, but I couldn’t help cocking my eyebrow as I was slightly impressed with his action. He really was impressing me today, even the way he ducked from the duffle bag a few minutes ago was remarkable considering the only training in that type of thing he gets is a cheap membership to a gym and drunken bar fights.

“Like I said yesterday, I fell into a bad crowd. For a few years I spend my time going on joy rides with stolen cars, drinking a crate of beer every night and robbing houses just so we could afford to pay for the beer. I may have picked up a few things along the way.” He explained.

I actually didn’t have a reply as I took his words in. He really did go downhill in the last 3 years. When I had last seen him he was a cocky little asshole who liked to play pranks and womanise girls, but he was never a criminal. Clearly things change.

“Care to explain why you are playing doctors and nurses?” I humour, wanting to change the topic of his off the rail behaviour. Mostly because I didn’t want to ask the question that would explain what caused him to go off the rails in the first place.

His serious expression turned lighter, and a slight smile tugged on his mouth “Well I figured that two teenagers walking around the hospital would look a tad suspicious. So I thought if I dressed up like a dashing doctor I would blend in and no one would think any differently.”

I nodded my head, realising what he has said wasn’t actually a bad plan. He had gone for the undercover approach, which was always a winner. Of course, the cocky asshole had to ruin his good idea by adding “And plus dressing up has always been fun. Especially when it involves role-playing and a blonde who needs a full physical examination...if you know what I mean.” He wagged his brows suggestively, smirking.

I closed my eyes and rubbed my forehead, taking a deep breath to calm myself down. My eyes snapped back open and towards the door when I heard it open, and in stepped a nurse. She looked a little surprised to see us both in here, but as soon as she spotted Jace’s doctor uniform she relaxed and smiled at him, a little flirtatiously may I point out. Guess everyone really does love a man in uniform. I have to agree with her though; even I couldn’t help but spot just how fine Jace looks in a doctor’s uniform.

“Hello doctor...” she trailed off, hinting for Jace to tell her his name. I had to bite my lip from laughing as he looked behind him, thinking she was talking to someone else. He glanced back at her confused then he suddenly realised he was meant to be the doctor she was referring to and his mouth formed into an O.

“Ohh, yeah that’s me. I’m a doctor.” He announced and I shook my head. Thank god I was here because on a real undercover mission, he would be made after about 3 minutes. He grinned at her turning on the infamous playboy charm of his as he noticed her glance at him suspiciously, and oh boy did it work wonders because as soon as he did she blushed slightly and I swear she giggled. I mean actually giggled. Like 13 year old school girl who sounded more like a shrew than an actual girl. I scowled in disgust, but she was too busy blushing to notice. Jace however did notice, and his face turned slightly amused as he did. “I’m Doctor...Solo.”

I looked at him like he was an idiot at the random name. She smiled again, looking at him like...well a whore really.

“Do you have a first name?” She asked, tilting her head to the side and scanning his body with her eyes. My eyes widened as I realised she was full on flirting with him while I was in the room. Jesus, people really have no shame these days.

Jace’s eyes panicked slightly as he struggled to find a good fake name “...Van?”

The snort of laughter that escaped my mouth was unstoppable “Van Solo?”

He turned his eyes and glared at me, and I bit my bottom lip to hold down the hysteria “Yes, my name is Van Solo. It’s an old family name.” He informed me whilst clenching his jaw, lying more fluently now.

I nodded my head slowly “Riiiight. Tell me Doctor Solo, by any chance did you and your family come from a galaxy far far away? ” I mock, trying to keep a serious face even though the glares Jace is shooting me right now make me want to roll around the floor and laugh until I pass out.

He ignored my remark, and turned his head back to the nurse “Is there anything I can help you with nurse...”

“Lauren, my names Lauren.” She smiled at him seductively “And yeah actually there is a patient down the hall who needs to see a doctor. Would you come down?”

Jace’s mouth falls open as the panic rushed through his face at the thought of actually having to be a doctor while he wears the uniform “I...cant right now. I’m on lunch.” He quickly blurts out, and for a slight second Lauren looks at him in horror, before recovering and turning her face back to the normal slutty expression.

“It is really quiet urgent.” She insists, and Jace gulps causing his Adams apple to bob noticeably from how uneasy he was.

I sigh and realise the idiot needs help before he gets called an imposter and the police have to be rung. I turn my head to Lauren “He can’t right now; he’s already with a patient.” I lie fluently, having been so used to spilling out lies for 3 years now I barely have to think about it anymore. Jace breathes a sigh of relief.

Unfortunately the prying bitch won’t take the hint and leave “I don’t see any patient?” I notice her tone is a lot colder towards me than it is towards Jace, and I can instantly tell she likes me just about as much as I like her. I also notice her glance at me while thinking deeply, like she is trying to figure something out.

“You’re looking at her now!” Jace suddenly butts in, pointing at me. I turn my head and widen my eyes at him warningly. This was not what I intended to happen. Pretending Jace was my doctor really was not something I wanted to happen. He gives me a look that says ‘go with it’ and I grit my teeth together.

“Yes. I am his patient.” I force out.

She nods slightly, but I can’t help but notice the suspicion in her eyes, which only made me more suspicious of her. We were looking for two nurses who were dealers as well, and the nosiness off this one was really starting to stand out...

The room is quiet, and I realise Lauren is waiting for Jace to do some sort of check over on me in order to prove his point. Jace also comes to this realisation and swings into actor mode.

“Okay Miss, would you like to hop on the seat and I’ll check you over?” he asks me his voice smooth as he slips into his doctor persona easily. I try and hide the scowl as I follow his orders and sit on the long examination chair thing they have in the room, my feet barely touching the ground now as I prop myself up. Jace turns to Lauren “Lauren could you grab me an otoscope so I can begin the examination? Then you can go back to the other patient.”

She quickly relaxes a little at the professional language Jace uses, and my mouth falls slightly in shock. She walks over to a few of the draws and begins looking through to find the octoscope of whatever it is that Jace has just asked for.

“Did you just make that up?” I whisper to him.

“No.” I raise my brows questioningly, before he rolls his eyes and finally admits “I watch ER okay.”

I bite my lip to stop my laughter, and Lauren hands him the little metal object.

“Thank you, could you also find me the blood pressure monitor?” he quickly asks, and she wonders off to the draws to find it.

He turns to me, and an amused expression lights up his face as he lifts the metal object to my mouth “Open wide...” he humours, smirking so I know exactly the thoughts that are running through his head. My suspicions are confirmed when he mumbles “Not the first time I’ve said that to you.”

My leg kicks out automatically and I hit him in the shin causing him to curse under his breath from the pain. I smile innocently “At least you don’t have to check my reflexes now...Doctor.”

He glares at me, rubbing his leg but I can see the humour in his eyes “Are you going to open your mouth so I can insert my tool into it?” he carries on attempting to piss me off, the dirty smirk never leaving his lips.

“Probably be bigger than anything else you’ve ever inserted in my mouth...” I mutter under my breath, but from the amused grin on his face I can tell he heard me. He lowers his head closer, placing his hands on the seat either side of my thighs.

“Never had any complaints before...” his breath tickles my face, and I actually find myself biting my lip at the feel “...especially from you.”

My breathing becomes a little heavier, and I notice his lips part slightly as he realises just how close he is to my lips. I swear people just live to interrupt these moments, because at that time Lauren’s voice cuts through snapping us back to reality.

“I can’t seem to find it, just give me a minute.” She calls over her shoulder, making us both come out of our little trance. My eyes avert from Jace and land on the nurse, narrowing as I spot her slip something out of the pocket of her nurse’s uniform. I tilt my head to the side to get a better look, and realise it is a pager. She quickly presses a button, obviously trying to do it on the sly and not have anyone see her. My eyes turn cold as I realise we have just found nurse dealer number 1.

“Nurse?” I call out to her, and she snaps her head to me while slipping the pager back in her pocket, thinking I have not spotted it “Could you get me a glass of water, my mouth feels a little dry?”

She looks a little apprehensive, before nodding and walking over to the water dispenser. Jace looks at me questioningly.

“Step out of the way when she walks over.” I order him quietly, and his confusion is still clear as he has no idea what is going on.

Lauren walks over and hands me the glass of water, and I take it from her with a big fake smile.

“Thanks Lauren.” My sweetest voice comes out, before I lift the cup and throw it in her face as a distraction. She lets out a little yelp and begins to wipe the water away from her eyes, which gives me enough time to lift my leg and kick her straight in the stomach sending her flying back to the tray full of doctor equipment which will come extremely handy in a few minutes.
