“This could be so easy and pain free if you just open up and tell me what you know darling.” Rob sighed dramatically; the tone of his voice however told me he was enjoying this.

I gritted my teeth as I fought against the rope around my wrists, knowing there was no hope of me escaping the hold but I had to try anyway. After Rob realised I was not going to be able to shoot my best friend, he took me Jace and Chris into another room of the building where he tied me to a chair and Chris and Jace against two poles in the room either side of me. The room was quite big and pretty bare, telling me that it was designed specifically for this reason.

Holding people hostage.

Holly had been taken into another room, crying all the way there. I hated myself for not being able to pull that trigger, but I just could not find it in me. She was my best friend, and she made a stupid choice. A choice that makes me want to pummel her to the ground, but still.

“Since we are going to be in here a while, could you get one of your dogs to fetch me a drink?” I ask with a sweet smile to my face “Vodka and coke? Hold the coke.”

Rob rolled his tongue against his front teeth, showing me he was annoyed. A trait he shared with his son. His eyes bore into me for a little while before he looked like he had made a decision, and a slow smile creeped onto his face.

“Sure.” he finally spoke to my surprise. He turned to one of the guys dressed in black “You heard the lady, go fetch.”

I furred my brows as the guy dressed in black nodded and left the room following his master’s orders. Chris and Jace looked just as confused as I was, whereas Rob looked...excited?

“What’s your master plan, spitting in my drink?” I quiz, cocking a brow.

Rob chuckles “That is no way a host should treat his guests.” He slips his hands into his pocket “Then again, I’m more of the ‘I’ll-be-a-good-host-when-you-tell-me-what-I-want’ kind of guy.”

“Oh, you want something?” I asked sounding completely clueless.

“I want-” he began loudly, the anger getting the best of him for a split second before he stopped himself and smiled, his voice now calm and composed like it normally was “I want to know where the firm is, and I want to know who runs it. I want to know everything about the agency that has tried to interfere with my business.”

“And I want to share a weekend cabin with Matthew McConaughey and have sex on a hammock, but I’m not getting that either.” I replied, ignoring Jace’s curious raised eyebrow as he took in the ‘sex on a hammock’ part of that sentence. That would be the only thing he caught on to.

No doubt I’ve just given him ideas for the future. That is if we have a future and don’t die tonight.

Rob’s jaw clenched and he forced a smile, trying to keep up his relaxed posture but I could tell he was getting irritated with the mocking now. He took his hand out of his pocket and I kept my face relaxed as I saw the blade in his hand.

He gave me a more genuine smirk now, before shaking the knife in my face and tutting “Sarcasm is something that cuts deep darling.”

He pressed the knife against my upper arm and slid it across my skin, causing me to almost bite my tongue off as I clenched my teeth together to hold in my scream. I was not going to give the bastard the satisfaction.

“Get the fuck away from her now!” Jace screams echoed around the room and both he and Chris were clearly struggling against their restraints, and having about as much luck as I did.

Rob ignored the screams of the two boys and kept his attention on me, even when the guy in black walked into the room a few seconds later holding a cup of clear liquid which I’m guessing is my drink order.

I swallow the pain down.

“Finally, the service around here is appalling.” I give him another sweet smile, making sure the sarcasm is clear in my voice. I don’t care how much it hurts; if the guy can’t take getting mocked then I’m using that against him.

He lets out an exaggerated sigh before taking the glass off his minion “Sarcasm also stings a bit.”

He pours the glass over the fresh cut causing my eyes to almost pop out of my skull as my skin feels like it is being scorched. You’d think since this is the second time this has happened to me today, the pain wouldn’t be as bad. Well, you’re wrong.

I clamped my mouth shut but I couldn’t help the strangled scream that came out of the back of my throat which muffled Jace and Chris’s screams and threats towards Rob.

“Ooops, clumsy me.” Rob says, the sarcasm dripping out of his own voice. A hint of a smile was at the corner of his mouth. He was actually enjoying this. “So, ready to open up yet darling?”

My breath is heavy as the pain of the vodka in the cut is still soaring through my body. I lift my eyes to look at him, and if looks could kill I would have ganked the bastard by now “Bite me.”

He sighs again, long and hard “You’re just making this harder on yourself.”

I shake my head, my breath hard “No Rob, you’re making this harder on yourself. Because as soon as I get out of these ropes, I will beat you so bad you will be praying for me to kill you.”

He cocks his head as he takes in my words and casually takes a cigar out of the inside of his jacket. He pops it in his mouth, taking out a Zippo lighter and flicking it so the flame lit the cigar. He takes a long drag, looking as if he is thinking my words over before blowing the smoke out.

“That is an interesting theory...” He ponders out loud, looking deep in though. He suddenly shrugs and shakes his head “...Or I could just keep torturing you until you beg for me to end you’re foul pathetic life.”

He pressed his cigar on my thigh, the pain of the burn making my body thrash instinctively as I try to escape, but with no luck. My teeth grit together and I scrunch my closed, digging my nails in my palms as seconds go by and he is still pressing the lit cigar to my skin.

“DAD!” Jace’s voice cuts through everything that is going on, and I think the shock of hearing Jace say that word made Rob freeze on the spot. The cigar was removed from my skin, and I took a deep breath as if I was surfacing from water. I could feel the sweat trickling down my forehead and I raised my head, my eyes blurring and looked over at a furious Jace who was looking at me with so much worry in his eyes it was a little overwhelming.

Rob was staring at his son, the shock clear on his face. He let out a stunned laugh “I thought I’d never hear you say that again.”

Jace was clenching his jaw, and because I knew him so well I could tell he was sickened by the man he was looking at. He just wanted Rob to stop, and even though I knew it made his skin crawl to call him dad, he had to do it, for me.

“Stop.” Jace ordered, but at the same time it sounded like a plea “Stop hurting her.” Jace forced his face to soften, and even though my skin was still burning I felt my stomach flip as I looked at the desperation in Jace’s eyes “Please dad. Stop.”

For a split second, through the blurriness of my tears, I actually saw a hint of sympathy in Rob’s eyes.

But that only lasted for a second.

“Sorry son, I’m a business man.” Rob informed him, his tone cold as usual “And my methods get results.”

The fury in Jace’s eyes flared at Rob’s words, and pretty soon we were back to Jace shouting profanities at his father that shocked even me.

In the midst of the death threats Jace was throwing at his father, I spotted something in the corner of my eye and turned to look at the door. The two men in black stood guard, but it was the small red dot that flashed faintly on the other side of the glass that caught my attention. My eyes narrowed as I studied the little red light closer, and suddenly a small smile crept to my lips as I realised what the red light was.

I suddenly found my shoulders shaking slightly, a slow chuckle building at the back of my throat which gradually got louder and louder. This earned all eyes on me now, Chris, Rob and Jace all staring at me like I was a complete and utter nut job which to be honest sort of made me laugh louder.

“Not exactly the reaction I wanted...” Rob muttered to himself as he furred his brows at me.

I composed myself a little, my shoulders still slightly shaking from laughter “Okay Rob, you want to know something about the agency?”

Rob’s eyes sparkled with excitement and smugness “Finally, she’s co-operating.”

A smile was on my lips and I found myself pressing them together to stop the laughter coming out again “One thing you need to know about the agency is that we like the theatrics.” Rob looked confused, so I carried on speaking as I counted down in my head “We like things to be dramatic, and explosives add a lot of drama into the mix” A small smirk spread on my lips as the countdown ended in my head “Boom!”

As I said that, the explosives that were set up on the other side of the entrance door went off, causing the two guards by the door to be blown away into tiny pieces, while Rob ran to the far end of the room along with 3 of his bodyguards.

I met Chris’s eyes, and he gave me a little smirk as he realised what was going on.

After the explosion ended, the smoke around the door started to fade away and two figures walked through it, one was holding a machine gun while the other had a machete in his hand.

“Evening lovers.” Connor greets everyone as he steps into the room, casually holding the machine gun by his side as he flashes everyone a big grin.

“Who the hell are they?!” Rob yells furiously to his body guards, pissed that they had managed to even get in the building “What the hell are they doing here?!”

“Sorry to just drop in like this, but I figured since you felt comfortable enough to break into our house and pinch our friends we could just make ourselves at home here.” Drake answers with a bitter smile on his face, the fury clear in his eyes.

“So what? You little boys come here to rescue your friends and get revenge for the mess we made in your house?” Rob laughs spitefully, obviously finding the whole situation hilarious but still making sure to hide behind his bodyguards.

Drake and Conner turn to look at each other, looking like they were remembering something that caused both of them to look even more pissed than I thought was possible. They both turn to glare at Rob.

“That reminds me...” Drake lifts the machete in his hands and points at Rob “...when you lot broke in, you broke the Xbox.” I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at just how serious he said it, sounding like he had just said Rob had shot his only born child. A nasty snarl appeared on Drake’s lips “You don’t just break a guy’s Xbox and walk away.”

“ You may not understand what an Xbox means to a man since back in your day they were still rubbing two stick together and throwing rocks in ponds in order to make their own fun. " Connor slings the machine gun in his hand over his shoulder, looking just as serious as his partner "But you have just made this personal Mr Dixon. So basically, It is on like donkey kong bitch.”
