Don't know why I'm that specific....ANYWAYS, I know this chapter is a bit confusing I'll probably fix it ALOT. Comment and tell me if you understood it so I have an idea of how confusing this chapter really was. XDD
I can't wait to put two certain songs to the side that I always listen to when I write this book....but no..that's for my favorite chapter coming up... ;) BUT HEY...the song to the right sounds FAMILIAR...

It’s funny how knowing your loved ones life is in danger makes you do things you normally wouldn’t.
“GET A MOVE ON! C’MON!” I kicked the back of the taxi driver’s seat that seemed to be sleeping at the light.
“I’m tryin’ here!” he yelled back and slammed his foot onto the gas.
“Please, if you can, go faster!”
“I’m trying, Miss, we’re getting stuck in traffic,” he muttered dryly, taking a sip of his diet coke and checking his phone messages at the same time.
I groaned and smacked my head against the seat. After Marcy had texted me I literally disintegrated through the floors of the building I was running so fast. I actually managed to text her while I practically fell down the 80 flights of stairs,
What do they look like? What happened?
She responded rapidly with,
Faith! So scared. I no you rnt believe this but I don think it person! They wer levitating of the ground and had fang and I can’t breathe here! Asthma!!!
As I read over the text down the stairwell, I interpreted it to be. Faith! I’m so scared! I know you aren’t going to believe this, but I don’t think it’s human! They were levitating off the ground and had fangs! I can’t breathe in here! My asthma!!!
Asthma.
She was going to have an asthma attack if I didn’t get there soon. Marcy had suffered from a fatal case of asthma growing up, so bad that she was hospitalized for a month straight because she couldn’t breathe. As she got older, her lungs got stronger and she barely had any use of her inhaler.
A break in would surely bring back her horrifying attacks. When I reached the bottom of the stairwell I ran down the street, waved down a taxi, jumped in the car, told them where to go and floor it, then texted her back.
You’re going to be fine! Deep breaths, Marcy, deep breaths. Everything is fine! The police will be there soon. I will be there soon. Which closet are you in so I can find you???
She replied a few moments later.
Yur room in clost. It in the room with me I can hear it. Faith if I don’t make it, u r my sister 4 life and I love u! Tell my parents I’m srry 4 ignorin them & love them mor then life.
I’m in your room in the closet. It’s in the room with me I can hear it. Faith, if I don’t make it, you’re my sister for life and I love you! Tell my parent’s I’m sorry for ignoring them and I love them more than life itself.
I fought the urge to break down and cry in the taxi. I couldn’t lose Marcy at a time like this, I just couldn’t. She was all I had right now. The only person I could really confide in and hadn’t yet because I was scared.
Scared what he would do to her.
“Forget this,” I growled. “I threw money at the driver, threw the door open and then threw myself out of the car.
With bare feet, I began to weave hurriedly through people on the crowded sidewalk shoving and pushing my way past large stores and pretzel stands. As I reached a cross walk I didn’t even check for cars, just ran right through.
Three more blocks to go. You can do this!
I heaved moist air in and out from my lungs as I continued to my destination, pumping my arms to gain momentum. My feet would undoubtedly have numerous sores and rocks wedged into the skin of my foot. Tears began to flow down my face in pain and time ticked on slower with every step I took. I started to see the outline of my apartment.
As well as an ambulance.
Forgetting about all the pain I was enduring I tore through yet another busy crosswalk, jumped over a small woman tying her shoe and shoved the door to the apartment buildings open.
Without even a second glance, I went into the elevator.
The doors closed as I pressed the 70th floor. Anticipation stirred in my body and sweat began to drop down the back of my shirt and around the edges of my hairline. What if my best friend since child-hood was dead? What if Death killed her? What if I find her body? What if the intruder is still in the house? Where are the police?
There was only one thing to do at a time like this.
Pray.
“Lord, please hear my prayer, anyone hear my prayer, please let my friend be alive. Please, please let her be alive. Please let her be alive I’ll do anything,” I muttered out loud, fidgeting when another ‘ding’ of the elevator echoed in the room, overpowering the music of the small machine. “I beg you, please help me. I know I haven’t been very religious lately and I’ve been cursing and avoiding my parents but…please help me. I’ll change. I’ll do—“
The doors abruptly opened to my floor. Slightly stunned that I would already have to get into my attack-mode, I took a shake breath to calm my nerves before I ran down the hallway with my damaged feet.
I swallowed a piece of what seemed like cardboard lodged in my throat once I reached my apartment door. My clammy hand grasped the knob of the door and I slowly edged the door open to reveal my dimly lit house.
I closed the door gently behind me, my heart in my throat. With a simple sweep of the eyes I saw that all of the window blinds had been pulled down so that a single window shown through the house, igniting millions of shadows.
I fought the urge to scream when I was completely inside the apartment, and the door slammed shut.
“Fear not, Faith Williams, I am not an intruder,” a voice smoothly addressed from behind me, “Although, the reason of our meeting is rather…unfortunate.”
“Get the hell out of my house,” I growled. With clenched fists I slowly turned around to face the speaker. “Who the heck are you? Where’s Marcy?” I asked, trying to restrain myself from drooling over the gorgeous person in front of me. He was tall, not taller than Death’s massive height, but was easily around six two. His hair was a dark blonde and his eyes, his eyes I could see were a light grey, even in the poor lighting. Most probably would have screamed as they met their intruder, but as soon as I locked eyes with the one in front of me I knew he meant me no harm. His eyes were friendly, readable, and held a great amount of intelligence.
As I took in his features I felt as if I had met that man before.
“You can call me John,” he answered almost immediately after that thought. “We’ve met before at one of your… adolescent assemblages.” After seeing my confused look he added, “The man with the hood might have cursed me out a few times?”
I blinked, recalling nothing of what he was saying.
He threw his arms up. “I had no shirt on and my wings were most likely fully exposed.”
After raking his t-shirt covered muscled chest the memory of John standing shirtless seeped into my brain. “I remember you! Wow—wait what did you say?”
John took a step closer to me, revealing his intense features to the light. “No time for questions, Faith Williams. I’m an Angel sent from Heaven to speak personally to you about your encounters with…” He cleared his throat as if unable to complete the end of that sentence and put his hands on his hips.
“An Angel,” I said dryly, shaking my head in disbelief. “You guys just don’t give me room to breath, do you?” I cleared my throat as he had before. “Before I answer any questions about…him…I want to know where Marcy is.”
“She’s asleep in her room,” John replied. The sentence seemed to run out of his mouth as if he felt I was wasting his time.
“But she was texting me before, was that you?”
He shook his head, casually flipping his blonde hair to the side when a blonde strand of hair fell out of place. “No. I stay away from any devices that submit themselves to radiation and or have annoying music.”
John took a step forward and tilted his head towards the ceiling. “There is a great evil in here. I sensed it the moment I walked into this house. Your friend, Marcy was asleep on the couch. She becomes in almost a coma when she sleeps, I must say.”
Whoa Buddy, you just crossed a fine line. Nobody watches my friend sleep!
I took a careful step back. “So basically you broke into my house...then creeped on my friend while she was sleeping?” "I don't creep, I lurk." His expression grew serious. “I knocked first. It was only instinctual to enter your home after I heard the scratching on your door.”
My stomach slowly drifted downwards. “Scratching?” I asked. “What do you mean, scratching?”
He clapped once. The lights turned on.
John’s features under even more lighting this time practically scared they were so flawless—so—inhuman.
I suddenly realized his eyes were glued to my front door. I followed his gaze to see long, deep scratches in the wood of the door, as if something was trying to--
“I checked Marcy’s fingers to see if she was possibly possessed by some sort of…evil,” John mumbled as he squatted down and ran his hand over the gashes in the wall.
“Evil?” I asked softly. “What do you mean, like demons?”
John motioned me over to the counter. “I’ll tell you if I have time. Have a seat. I’ve been surprising the pain in your foot but you are still bleeding.”
I nodded, too freaked out to glance at the messed up foot below me. I limped over to one of the stools on the counter and carefully sat on it, my eyes glued on John the whole time.
“How many times have you met with Azrael?” His grey eyes fixed onto mine for a moment. “Or does is he just sticking with ‘Daniel’ now?” Maybe even Asesino, the Spanish word for killer? Always creative with his names, always rebellious.”
I tried to speak calmly during the odd conversation. I was talking to an Angel, the things with massive wings that lived in Heaven….
“You mean…Death? How is Daniel a creative name?”
“This is a waste of time.” John shook his head as if remembering other names Death had made up for himself. “Daniel means ‘God is my Jungle’. It’s just a sarcastic reference I presume, since he hates all light Angels, including God, equally.”
“Why?”
“Thousands of years ago, God damned him to earth for being so in love with himself that he put himself before his job as a Guardian,” he explained simply and made a ‘duh’ gesture with his hands. “His real name is Azrael, but the last time a living creature called him that, it was one of his own brother’s, Michael. He’s blind now. Anyways, the Devil was also sentenced to an eternity on this torturous planet you humans call Earth. Although their jobs on helping lost souls continue, they are still evil at heart and still kill for fun. ”
He stopped right at that awkward cliff hanger.
John watched me carefully under his dark grey eyes. “I starting to wonder if you’re blinded yet,” he said curiously.
I smacked my hands on the table and stood up on my cut up feet. “Well, fascinating story, John, now please leave my house.
He suddenly gave me a cold stare. “Where is his cloak?
I froze. “What do you mean?” He gave me a long look before he stood up to his full height. “You will be accepted into our protection, if you simply show me where his cloak is. You see, you are quite special, Faith William, extremely valuable to our kind so I am giving you that option. His cloak is like his basketball and he's a basketball player. Without his basketball, the guy can't even manage a sip of water. He's useless to me--are you even listening?"
He snapped his fingers in my face.
We locked eyes.
We stood there for the longest moment, staring at eachother with determination. I found it hard to swallow as I replied, “Really.”
The air started to become thick and humid, the lights flickered a few times.
“Yes. Now stay still while I fiddle through your memories.” John calmly took a step around the counter to me and firmly grasped my shoulder.
A horrible feeling spread through my body as he did so. His hand radiated a heat so burning hot that I fought the urge to cry out. “Good girl, stay still.” The friendly vibe John once had had completely melted away and his features seemed more distorted—even less human.“Hmm,” he said curiously, his voice morphing into one that was deep. I realized the instant he talked it sounded strangely familiar. But not so familiar that I had heard it recently, no, but I knew it was familiar.
“Damnit,” he growled under his breath and slid his hand around my throat. “I should have known he would do something so cruel to you.” His eyes flashed in the bright light, changing into a light blue and then quickly flashed back to grey. “Death is no good for you, little one. He will eat you alive with the amount of innocence you hold. I see he’s already meeting with you tonight, Death?”
I managed a nod.
“I'll make you a deal. A simple trade and I’ll rid you of him forever. You can live a normal life, one with a decent husband and a nice home.” He made a thoughtful look. “Maybe you’re have tons of babies and be a lawyer or something. Not to mention Marcy and your family will be safe.”
I narrowed my eyes. “I somehow don’t believe you.”
The man in front of me was no longer John, although his face remained the same. It was as if a mask was slipped over his face—revealing his true identity. “Death?” I choked out, wondering if it was him all along.
He shook his head. “No. I’m not Death.”
“Then who—“
“Call me Timmy.”
“Is that really your name?"
"No." "Then you're not...?“
"No, I'm not John. Obviously, John likes to 'hug it out' and shit. I just needed someone to look like for an hour."
"Wait--"
He cut me off with his hand, his grey gaze locked on something behind me. His mouth lifted into a wide grin. “Just fantastic,” he muttered in almost a hiss. “That’s just hysterical.”
The man released his hold on my throat and gently pushed me aside as he faced what he was looking at. “Oh this is just priceless. Let me guess, you’re going to try and protect her? I wasn’t even going to do anything to her, dumbass.”
My mouth gapped open as I took in the new character in the room, one with absolutely no clothes on except for a body-tight cloth. It looked as if a figure was beneath its material, perfectly sculpted in a shadowed version of a tall, muscular man, and yet it wasn’t a man at all…
The cloak?
Death?
“I’m leaving and I’m going to kick your ass when I see you,” the blonde-haired man I had once thought was John spoke to the figure. He slowly backed away from me, his eyes locked on the shadowed figure with each step.
The black-covered figure was silent, its head adjusting its tilt--following the blonde haired man walked calmly towards the front door.
The door slammed after him.
The black-covered figure then glanced at me and took a step forward. Before I could react, it waved at me, turned, and changed into a black puddle of cloak on the floor.
Maybe I was use to all of this. Maybe I was use to strange things happening to me, Angels and Demons watching my every move, Marcy being ‘put to sleep’ by yet another mysterious man pretending to be someone else, or maybe I didn’t react the way I should have because I was just down-right tired and thought I was dreaming.
All I know was my initial reaction of a muscular man with a body suit on that strangely desinigrated into a cloak on the floor shouldn’t have been me walking over to the damn thing that lay on the floor, picking it up, sniffing it, and then saying, “How the hell did this turn black again?”
