I dragged along the black tiled floor, trying to resist Tom’s strong pull.

I turned around, and pushed at his face, “Tom seriously stop! I can’t swim good please!” He laughed, and held me at the edge of the pool.

He’s not exactly tall, but he’s taller than me. He looked down at me, his blue eyes twinkling with enjoyment. I can see my reflection in his eyes. I look paler than usual, and my black hair is a mess from wrestling with him. I frowned, “Please, please, Tom this is this is low, even for you. You know I can’t swim!” I whispered roughly to him.

He gripped my arms harder, and smirked, “Sorry guys she’s got this special ointment…” he trailed, waving a hand in the air.

Everyone started to laugh, and I thumped him hard on the chest. I expected him to back up, but he just stayed there. Jesus if I can’t move that lanky piece of crap than I need to start working out! I backed away from the pool, and noticed Tom was staring at his chest, where I had hit him.

I didn’t wait for his response; I ran away from the pool, and leaned against the wall by the exit. I wiped sweat from my eyes, and waited for my breath to catch up to me. I sat down on the floor, and watched everyone having fun, and swimming feeling nothing but jealousy.

When I was little, my Dad took me fishing on the boat with a few of his friends. I always loved seeing the fish we caught and putting them in the cooler. I would have my little floaters on my arms, a life vest, and swim shoes, and I would have a blast playing with the fishes. Of course we always let them go at the end of the day, and I would be extremely upset. I always named them, and made up stories about them. My Dad told me I use to wave at them when he threw them in the water.

One day my Dad and his friends were inside the boat, because of a storm that was coming, and I had fallen asleep on the couch. I woke up; thinking one of the fishes was dead. When I hurried onto the deck, the boat smashed into a huge wave, and my feet went sliding down the boat. I fell over the boat, into the water. I had no floaters on, a swim vest, and I never learned to swim.

I threw my arms up, attempting to stay above the waves, and called out to my Dad. I started to sink into the water, my eyes still open. My body became stiff, and I was almost at peace for a moment. I looked up at the surface at the water, my eyes unaffected by the salt. I could see a light at the surface, and the movements of the currents. I saw a dark shadow cover the light, and hand’s grabbed at my little body. I was brought to the surface. I remember seeing the sunset, and then I blacked out. I woke up and my Dad told me one of his friends had heard me scream, and dived into the water to save me.

He never did tell me which friend.

After what seemed like forever, I finally swung my legs over the lounge chair, and stared at the pool. I can do this, this is easy! Everyone can swim, even dogs. I walked slowly to the edge of the pool, and looked into the water. I dipped my toe into it, to feel a warm temperature. I shivered, because of how cold the air is. I leaned over, to see my reflection. A dark, shadowed face appeared next to me. I screamed, and lifted my head up.

“Tom! What the heck!” I yelled, pushing my hair from my face. My heart continued to pound in my chest.

“What?” He said innocently, with a chuckle, “I saw you in here, and I figured I’d say ‘Hi.’”

I crossed my arms over me chest, “Go play with someone else.”

He took a step closer, and I took one back instinctively, “No.”

“Why?”

Tom shrugged, and continued walking towards me, “So why don’t you like swimming?” He said casually, turning to the pool. I watched his skinny back muscles move, and he pretended to kick something in the water. He’s a twig really.

‘I don’t know, I just don’t like the feeling of the water,” I lied, biting my lip.

Please go away!

He leaned into me, looked behind him at the door to the house, and then back at me as if to tell me a secret. I stayed where I was, unable to move from nervousness. “You make it too easy,” he whispered.

“W-what?” I stuttered, my eyes wide. He bit his lip and rose his eyebrows to his hair, and turned to face the pool.

“He’s coming to get you,” he sang.

I swallowed a lump in my throat, and backed up. “Tom stop it, your scaring me.”

He smiled to himself, and lifted his head to mine, “How easy, I just found you sitting all alone here, waiting for someone to just—“he waved his hand in the air and mouthed “kill you.”

Tom turned to me and started to walk towards me, “Want to go for a dip?” he asked playfully, walking faster to me. I curved the corner of the pool, nearing the diving board, "You are such and idiot.”

“Huh?” I asked quickly, trying to distract him. All I need is to run at the right moment.

“Tom was clearly drunk in the beginning of the party. Do I seem drunk to you?” He questioned, and I whirled my head from the pool, to his face. What is he talking about? He winked with his left eye, and it turned green, "just borrowing his body image for a bit. You like?"

Oh my God.

He snickered, and I opened my mouth to scream. Nothing came out. I touched my throat, and turned to run. A hand grabbed at my arm, and 'Tom' lifted me easily onto the diving board. I threw my body up, kicking my legs out. He turned me to face him, his one eye back to a crystal blue.

“I think you forgot your floaters again, cupcake.”

“Why are you doing this to me?” I shouted, feelings tears ready to fall.

People started to come into the pool area, screaming and jumped into the pool. I whirled around, thankful more people were here.

I gave ‘Tom’ in front of me a friendly smile, “Now what are you going to do? There’s people around!” I whispered.

“She’s getting dunked!” A guy yelled.

‘Tom’ grinned, showing a mouthful of fangs. My breath hitched, “I’m going in with you of course.”

“Please don’t—“

He pushed me off the diving board, and I crashed into the water. I moved my arms quickly, getting to the surface, and stupidly looked at the diving board. He did a back flip off of it, landing gracefully in the water. I tried to swim at the wall of the pool, but something brushed at my feet making me stop. “Help!” I called out to a girl by the pool. She glanced in my direction, and then continued talking to her friends, as if she didn’t see me. I reached the wall, and tried to pull myself up. Someone grabbed at my feet, and I was forcefully pulled back under.

I opened my eyes, to see a dark figure pulling me deeper into the water. I was easily pushed against the bottom of the pool, like a rock is sitting on my chest. I can feel to strong hands holding my shoulders down. I closed my eyes, and kicked my legs out, and tried to push him off of me. Bubbles escaped from my mouth, as I screamed. I let out all my oxygen but a few.

Don’t fight me honey, it will make it will make this harder for you.

I opened my eyes; too see a shadowed face inches from mine. I grabbed onto his clothed head, making him let go of me. Now I’m on top of him, and we are slightly floating to the surface. I can see his black hair escaping from his hood. I lifted my legs up to my stomach, kicked him in the crotch, to kick up into the surface. He let out a yelp under the water. I took a huge breath of oxygen, “Help!” I bit out, struggling to shred water.

Someone dove into the water, and grabbed me around the waist. I shrieked, and a red floating device, was placed by me. I grabbed onto it, and was pulled to the wall. The lifeguard swam to the shallow end, a hand around my waist. I stood up in the four foot deep shallow end, feeling like a kid. People stopped talking, and turned their attention to me.

I wiped my hair from my face, and looked to the lifeguard. His eyes are slanted like an Asians, and his skin is tan, and muscled. I thanked him, and hurried to the steps. I shakily got out of the pool, a man came over to me, and gave me a towel. They gave me a weird look, and pulled me to the house, “Your ok, nobody’s going to hurt you,” he assured me, as pulled me into the house. I finally stopped shaking, and looked at his face. Light grey eyes stared back at me, with a mess of light blonde hair.

I pushed away from him, instantly getting a bad feeling.

“Faith! What’s up babe!” Marcy’s voice slurred loudly.

Going into the supply closet once again, I managed to get my costume back on, over my wet bathing suit. I’m sitting on a black leather couch in Nicole’s living room, sipping some soda. I’m definitely the designated driver tonight.

I laughed, “Nothing, do you know it’s only 10:30?” I questioned, knowing she would have no idea.

She sat back on the leather couch, mimicking my lazy position. She hummed to the loud music from the speakers, set up all around the house, ignoring my question. Her head rolled to the side, and she looked up at me, “I made out with George!” She blurted, sticking her tongue out, and staring crossed eyed at it.

Not again.

“Marcy you guys broke up!” I scolded, “You have to stop doing that at parties. He cheated on you!”

She knit her brows together, “Faith, you’re just jealous because I have all the guys, and you have shit. You don’t even enjoy yourself anymore!” she bit out angrily, sitting up.

That’s a new one.

“Wow you know me so well; at least I don’t sleep with everyone I meet!” I shouted over the raising music, standing up.

“You’re the whore! Look what you are wearing!” Marcy screamed, standing up wobbly.

She’s not an angry drunk.

“He’s coming!” Marcy sang, putting her chin to her chest, and looking up at me creepily.

People stormed into the room, and started dancing around me, “Faith! Faith! Faith! Faith!”

I looked around, trying to find a familiar face. I don’t even know these people! Someone grabbed at my hair, and I whirled around to see a blond guy, with some nice abs.

“Come with me! Before it's too late!” He shouted over the music. His eyes are a stormy grey, and his hair is shaggy, over his forehead; the guy who tried to comfort me before.

I stared at him, and shook my head no. He grabbed my hand, and pulled me out of the room, to the front door, “You don’t belong here Faith! Come with me and you will be safe!” He screamed over the music.

Rough hands grabbed at my arm, and I was pulled behind someone. My heartbeat went in my ears, and my eyes became droopy. The song changed to loud scream music, and I got chills. How do you go from a dance song to screaming one? A pain shot in my stomach, once again. It’s been bothering me all night.

Something is very wrong.

I stared at the large guy in front of me, with a back t-shirt on, and a black skaters hat over his head. Staring at his back, I felt something drop in the pit of my stomach.

“Get the hell off of my property, John. And put a shirt on you tool,” he growled at the blond guy, whose name is apparently John.

John started to chant something quietly, and put his hand up to the guy in front of me, his voice raising. The guy in the black t-shirt took a step back, and then flew against the wall to my right. He let out a grunt, and hissed loudly like an animal. I tried to make out his face, but it’s completely shadowed. His arms stayed lock to the sides, his head back in an unnatural position.

John grabbed my hand and pulled me outside. A bright light flashed into my face.

I blacked out.
