PLEASE READ!!!!

So I forgot to mention that the setting is present time. It's going to be a little different compared to now. Like how the weapons are going to be far more advanced then how weapons are now. Sorry, I meant to put this in the story but it kind of just slipped my mind. Aaaaanyways..... enjoy!

“We’re here.” A voice says.

I look up and out of the car window. I see large tents all around the base camp. I see men running in formation. I see others practicing with the newest weapons. I see soldiers getting check-ups from the doctor. It’s all very different.

“What do you think?” A voice asks.

I turn to look at Officer Russell. He looks at me worriedly. Almost as if he’s afraid I’m going to back down. I give him a smile to reassure him. His face relaxes a little.

“It’s definitely different. I’m more nervous to meet my team than anything else.” I say, shyly.

He nods as he indicates that he understands. I found out that there are 4 other people that the military was searching for. I was the last one to be found. Together, we made a group of 5 people that were very skilled compared to the average person. One of them leads the group but apparently they are having trouble controlling them. It was apparently hard to convince them to join the military. Our team is supposed to train and take on secret missions. We do the most dangerous work. We will do many different missions, whether it’s being a spy or staying in the shadows and watching all the other men’s backs during a battle.

Officer Russell gets out of the car. I do the same and follow him to a smaller green tent that’s a little farther away from all the other tents. I get many looks from men on the way to the tent. It’s not surprising. The military has never had a girl in their camps before. I guess they really need me. It’s going to be hard for me here. The training won’t be bad but the abuse will be. Officer Russell stops just outside the tent and then turns to me.

“Please don’t take anything they say serious. They are just a little angry that they have to work with a girl.” He looks off to the side and whispers, “They think girls should just stay home and cook for the men.” He looks at me again.

I smirk. I hate sexists. I hate them so much. I am one of those girls who want to be treated equally. I knew this was going to be hard but it’s going to be really hard if my own teammates won’t even work with me.

“Don’t worry, Officer Russell.” I walk past him and into the tent. “I know how to play well with others.”

As soon as I walk in, I see 4 heads look at me. One of them immediately groans. I turn to his direction and glare at him.

“Great, she’s here.” He glares back at me.

“Nice welcome.” I say.

One of the men comes up to me and takes my hand. He kneels down and kisses my hand.

“Welcome my lovely lady.” He peers up at me and winks at me.

I roll my eyes.

“I see we have a player.” I say.

He frowns and stands back up. He pushes a piece of hair from my face and behind my ear.

“I am no such thing. I just believe every woman deserves a proper welcoming.” He says, simply.

I pull away from him and bump into Officer Russell behind me. He starts to laugh.

“Don’t worry. They don’t bite. The man in front of you is Tristan Woods.” He says.

He walks in and goes to the boy that gave me such a rude welcome. Officer Russell pats the man’s shoulder and looks at me.

“This man over here is Brock O’Malley. Don’t let him get to you. He’s harmless.” Harmless my ass.

Officer Russell moves to the back of the tent to another man in the corner with computers all around him and other high tech things.

“This secluded man over here is Alex Grey. He’s a tech wiz and will be very helpful in your future missions.” The boy looks at me and then quickly looks away. Cute!

Officer Russell then goes to the boy on his bed. Before he can introduce him, the boy yells something the same time I do.

“Annalisa!”

“Jacks!”

“What the hell are you doing here?” He hisses.

“What does it look like, Sherlock?” I smirk.

“And I thought I told you to stop calling me Jacks.” He glares at me.

“But it’s my nickname for you.” I say.

“This is exactly why I hate it.” He says.

I smirk.

“Too bad. The nicknames staying.” I say.

“The hell it is!” He jumps off his bed and lunges at me. I quickly dodge and he falls to the ground. He gets up quickly and attacks me again. This time he pulls out a knife and swings at me with it. I admit, the kid had some moves. That was his specialty. He was good with weaponry. He can take any weapon, undo it all and put it back together. He can even make a totally different kind of weapon if he wanted to. He’s a good one for these missions. I dodge again as the knife tries to penetrate my skin once again. The only problem is, Jacks can only fight like a normal soldier. He could never win against me with combat. Before Jacks can attempt another attack, Officer Russell intervenes and takes the knife from Jacks. Jacks redirects his anger towards Officer Russell.

“What the hell old man?” He says, angrily.

Officer Russell smiles a very scary smile.

“I thought I’ve told you before boy, that I’m only 25 years old.” He says.

Jacks cringes at the smile just pouts. He walks back to his bed and just lies down and grumbles some more. Officer Russell turns back to me and smiles a genuine smile.

“Well, it seems you have met everyone. Your first day of training starts tomorrow. I will come get you in the morning.” He turns and leaves.

I look at the guys one more time and then I go to the last bunk in the tent. I lie down right away and close my eyes. After a few moments, I feel the bed dip a little. I open my eyes to Tristan. He just keeps staring at me.

“What?” I snap.

“So you are the one that Jackson keeps talking about. His rival.” He says.

I smirk.

“I wouldn’t call myself his rival. He’s still got a long way to go.” I say.

Jacks jumps off his bed and runs over to me.

“Nuh-uh. We are evenly matched.” He says.

I look at him.

“Jacks, you can’t even fight me on your own. You always needed help and even then, you guys lost.” I say.

Now I know I sound bitchy but this kid has been a pain in my ass ever since we met. I usually like kids but he’s not technically a kid. He’s only 2 years younger than me and acts like an 8 year old. Cassy is more mature than he is.

“That’s only because my brother was even worse than me.” He says.

“Stop whining.” A voice says.

I turn my head to Brock. He just glares at all of us.

“Thank you.” I say.

“Shut up.” He said.

“Now Brock, that’s not how you treat a lady.” Tristan says.

“Well, seems someone thinks they’re the Big O around here.” I smirk at my little nickname for him.

I can almost see the daggers coming out of his eyes as he looks at me.

“Well I am the leader of this group. Learn to respect your commanding officer.” He says.

“Officer Big O. Got it.” I salute to him.

I hear a few snickers coming from everyone else. Brock gets up and comes over and pulls my collar up. He leans closely to me.

“Listen up toots. I am the leader of this group. This means you have to listen to me. What I say goes. I am not someone to mess with. I came here to end this war and that is exactly what I’m going to do. I just want to get this over with and never have to see your face again.” He let’s go of my collar and goes back to his bed and lies down.

“Well Big O,” I start. He flinches. “I think everyone here is someone that no one would want to mess with so don’t let that leadership crap go to your head. We’re just as good as you.” I pause. “Some even better” I whisper.

He looks at me sharply and I just smile. I get back on my bed and just look up at the tent. Jacks goes back to his bed and starts working with his guns. Tristan looks at me for a moment and then finally realizes that I want some time alone. He goes back to his bunk and I hear knives hitting a dart board. Most likely, he’s hitting the bull’s-eye every time. I look at a bracelet that Cassy made for me before I left. I kiss it. I will be back Cassy. I’ll end this war for you. I promise.
