Chapter 16
I stared into Royce's eyes for a long time, before I was able to speak.
"The Light Moon pack needs our help?" I asked somewhat astonished. One thing I knew for sure about The Light Moon Pack was that they never asked for help. This had to be serious.
"Yes, they claim that they are in danger with not enough protectors to defend the pack."
"But why would they ask our pack?" I questioned aloud.
"We have been in peace with the Light Moon pack for more than 15 years. As you know, Knox and his parents used to live with our pack before he got moved up to Alpha at the Light Moon Pack. I think they asked us because they know that they can trust in our pack." He said prideful.
"Right." I said simply.
"Hazel. You don't have to go, I just want to give you an option." He mumbled.
Thing was, I did want to go. I wanted to put my training to good use, I just didn't want to see all the people I left behind.
"Would there be a lot of contact with the Alpha?" I asked, Royce immediately catching onto what I actually meant.
"I don't think there has to be a ton. Maybe just the beginning instructions, then you can just get into a routine. No socializing is needed." He stated, I let out a sigh of relief.
"Who else would be going?" I questioned.
"Archer Keating, Porter Yates, John Louis, and Kara Lynn." He smiled at me, seeing the smile that showed on my face when he said Archers name.
"Alright, I'll go." I stated, not as confident in myself as I hoped. "Is that all Royce?"
"Yea, you'll do great. Car leaves tonight at 8:00." He replied.
"Wow, thanks for giving me earlier notice." I said with sarcasm laced in my words.
"Sorry! I was nervous to ask." He said sheepishly.
I laughed,"If that's it, I think I'll go start packing." I said and walked out of the room and headed straight downstairs. I got to the commons room and...
"Hazel!!" I turned to see the black haired ten year old girl skipping towards me.
"Hey Molly!" I said hugging her."What are you doing down here? Aren't you grounded?" I asked with an arched eyebrow.
"Nothing..." She said looking at her feet with a smirk on her face.
"Oh is that why the TV is on?" I said laughing.
"nooo. I was looking for Archer." She said stumbling over her words.
"Sure, you were." I said with a chuckle."I have actually got to talk to Archer, do you want to come with me?"
"Sure." She said in her timid voice and followed me to Archers room. She knocked on the door and yelled,"ARCHER! ITS YOUR SISTER!"
I just laughed as I opened the door to find him looking toward the door, with a suitcase on his bed.
"Hey babe." He said walking over and giving me a kiss on my lips."Hey sis" He leaned down and gave her a kiss on her cheek.
"Hi brotho!" She said and immediately went to his laptop which is always on his desk.
"So Archer....you never told me about the Light Moon pack." I said getting to the point.
He looked down at his feet, embarrassed, and put a hand on his neck."Yeah, Alpha didn't want me to say anything about it. What did you decide to do?" He questioned, looking into my eyes.
"I decided to go, I think knowing that you would be there will help me." I said truthfully.
He pulled me into a hug."I love you. Think of it this way, haven't your parents and friends been nagging you to visit? Now you can go see them, but have an excuse not to be around them all the time." He said smiling.
"I love you too! I never thought of it that way, it's a blessing in disguise!" I evilly smiled.
The first time I wrote my parents a letter was about 3 months after I left. By then I decided that they deserved to hear from me and know that I was OK. I didn't tell them where I was, because I knew that if I did, they would come searching for me. We write at least one letter to each other every month and in every single letter, my dad and mom are both begging for me to come visit. I haven't wanted too because obviously I didn't want to see anyone from my old pack.
Same with my friends. I wrote each one individually and they all begged me to come visit. After about a year I fell out of contact with them.
Going on this mission would get my visit to them out of the way and with how busy I would be, I wouldn't have to hang out with them all the time.
"You're a genius Archer!" I said kissing him,"I'm gonna go pack." I said turning around.
"I'll come to your room when I'm done packing!" I heard Archer yell as I shut his door.
I walked to my room and pulled my black large suitcase out from under my bed and set it on top of my bed.
I packed tons of undies and bras, all my workout clothes including sport bras, and some jeans and t shirts. Also my hygiene products. It didn't take me too long, so by the time I ended packing it was 6:00pm.
I thought that I should go say my goodbyes. I walked to Elzas room and knocked on her door.
"Come in!" I heard her yell.
I walked through and found Elza and Bella sprawling on Elzas bed reading fashion magazines, of course.
"Hey guys." I said sitting on her desk chair.
"Hey Hazel." They both said in unison.
"So I guess you decided to go?" Elza said looking up from her mag.
"How the hell did you know about this?" My facial emotion shocked.
"I knew about it too." Bella cut it.
"We knew because Royce told us. He said to help you out if you needed it. Obviously you made your decision on your own." Elza said
"Then yes, I did decide to go." I stated.
"Are you sure you want too?" Bella asked, concern clear in her voice and face.
"Of course I'm sure. My family has been begging me to visit so it all works out." I said.
"No I mean, what about Knox?" Bella said bluntly,"What about your pains? They aren't as bad anymore because you haven't seen him in two years. What will happen when you see him again?"
"Bella, don't worry. The separation is complete. He can't hurt me anymore, plus I am happily with Archer." I said my voice wavering a bit.
Bella took a long breathe and closed her eyes,"Alright, you'll do great." She said sure of herself.
We talked for a while more and then I decided I had to leave.
I walked over to them and gave each a hug.
"I don't know how long I'll be gone, but I'll call you whenever I can." I said sadly.
"Love you Hazel. Good luck!" Elza said.
"I love you guys too. See you later." I said walking out the door, trying to keep the tears from overflowing.
I then walked up to the kitchen and found Jane, cooking something that involved chocolate.
"Jane! Can I get some of your creations tonight?" I whined.
"Of course sweetie. I heard that you decided to go, I'm so proud of you." Jane smiled sweetly. Jane had basically been a mother figure for me since I have been here. She means a lot to me.
"Thanks Jane. I'm actually kinda excited, once I get over the nervous part."
"You'll do amazing. You are one of the best protectors of all time, I swear." She smiled and pulled out a truffle that she had made and handed it to me.
I popped it in my mouth and melted. "This is amazing!" I moaned.
"Oh hunny, I know it is." She said with a sassy accent. "Oh, it's 7:45. I think you better go. I love you." She said pulling me into a hug.
"I love you too Jane, wonderful truffles!" I said and walked back downstairs to grab my suitcase.
I felt a hand grab onto mine and followed the arm up the meet Archers dark eyes.
"Ready babe?"
"Yea, I am."
With that we walked to the driveway after I grabbed my suitcase.
Alpha Royce and Beta Blake were standing by a big black car. Along with them, stood Porter, John, and Kara.
I had never really acquainted with Kara but with her light brown medium length hair and blue eyes, she seemed friendly enough.
"Alright everyone! Thank you all for going, the Light Moon pack has expressed a lot of gratitude to us and you for going." Royce said,"They don't know who is coming, so you will have to introduce yourself to the Alpha and Beta." He said looking directly at me. Crap.
"Good luck everyone! We don't know how long you will be there for, but we will keep contact and would appreciate some updates from you." Beta Blake said.
"Alrighty, see you guys later!" Royce said as we all hopped in the car.
I sat between Archer and John, while Porter sat by Kara. We all got comfortable by the time we made it to the end of our boundary line.
"Guys I am so excited!" I all but screamed. A huge rush had come over my body in a matter of minutes out of nowhere. I don't know why I was so excited.
"Calm down Hazel, I wouldn't be too excited if I were you. When we have to prove our skills, you will just look like a little fly next to me, therefore leading to huge amounts of embarrassment." John said cockily.
"Oh puh-lease! Try it going the other way around!" I smacked his arm.
That was mostly what most of the car ride consisted of. We couldn't get there fast enough.
