"Okay so according to this map, Hana's room should be..." I trailed off as I walked a few steps ahead, the large map that Nathan had drawn open in my hands. The rest of the boys followed closely behind as we tried to locate Hana's exact room.

"Here." I said, coming to a stop on the roof.

"Seems about right." Max agreed.

"Boys, let's get to it." I grinned evilly, causing them all to roll their eyes. Tyler handed Max the power tool thing, before all the boys bent down and turned the tool on. It let out a loud buzz and they wasted no time in bringing it down and beginning to saw it open.

We all stood waiting anxiously, a safe distance away from being seen through the hole. Once Max had cut open a hole large enough to fit two bodies through, the cement roof fell heavily down but luckily didn't hit anyone. He turned off the tool and stepped back, all of us looking down the hole cautiously.

The light from outside poured into the dark room, showing a small single bed in a lonely room.

I stepped forward warily. "Nathan?" I whispered into the hole.

At first there was nothing, and I became worried. But then there was the sound of shuffling and I saw Nathan's head appear from under the bed.

I sighed in relief as I watched him crawl out, pulling out a young girl after him whom I guessed was Hana. She really did follow up on the attractive genes in Nathan's family, even though she was only thirteen. She had dark blonde hair that was in a messy braid and her green eyes looked stunningly sharp. You could tell she had been through a lot from her hollow looking eyes and the slight frown etched into her features.

"We thought you guys were Ryland's men." Nathan whispered up at us, before shaking his head knowingly at me.

"You scared us Nathan. Don't ever leave like that again." Max said to Nathan seriously. It was one of those very rare moments where you remembered that Max was Nathan's older brother. I could see the worry shining through Max's eyes and held back a small smile.

"Hana." Max whispered once his eyes landed on the quiet girl at Nathan's side.

"Come on! Let's leave before they catch us!" Tyler ordered, before throwing a bunch of rope down the hole for Nathan and Hana to climb up through.

"Wait! What about my--" Cody started to say worriedly.

"Brother? I picked him up on the way here." Nathan shot Cody a small grin, before disappearing from our vision and coming back with a boy who looked to be about fifteen. He also had blonde hair and blue eyes, his features similar to Cody's.

"Danny!" Cody cried out as he rushed over closer to the edge.

"Cody?" Danny spoke in surprise and relief as his eyes lit up.

"Come on guys, you can all rejoice once we get the hell out of here!" Tyler yelled at us again, looking around nervously.

Nathan nodded in agreement, before motioning for Danny to climb up the rope.

He did as told and soon enough, Cody was pulling him out the rest of the way before hugging his younger brother. I almost cried at the look on their faces. I also didn't miss the small tear trailing down Cody's cheek.

Next, Nathan guided Hana up the rope. We all watched as she effortlessly pulled herself ten feet up by the rope and stepped out in a swift motion.

"Hana." Max breathed out, staring at his sister in awe, before rushing to her and pulling her in a hug. We all silently watched as the thirteen year old stood there motionless and expressionless. It kind of scared me.

I averted my gaze to Nathan just as he lifted himself out of the hole and stepped out.

"So what now captain?" I went over to him and asked as he pulled the rope out of the gaping hole.

"Captain? I like that." Nathan shot me a cheesy grin which I rolled my eyes to.

"I mean how are we getting out?" I asked him with a raised brow.

"Lucky for you, I planned ahead and called an old friend for some help. They should be here soon." Nathan said with a secretive look.

Before I could ask him who, the sound of a helicopter above caused us all to freeze and look up.

"Holy cow..." Landon and Max muttered in awe at the same time.

I gasped as the chopper came near and the pilot's face came into view. I would remember those sharp, fox like features anywhere. She had left a lasting impression on me anyways.

"But Nathan, isn't that--" I started to say in a panic.

"The girl who tried to shoot us the day we went out and got a tree?" Nathan finished for me with a smug look. "Well I told you she was just a rival gang leader. When I told her that I wasn't a part of it anymore and wanted to bring Ryland down, she agreed to help." Nathan said with a small grin.

"But she held you at gunpoint..." I trailed off pathetically. I just didn't see how he could easily forgive someone who had almost popped his head off just like that and gain their trust.

Nathan chuckled at me. "That's just business sweetheart, nothing personal." He said, just as the chopper dropped down a rope ladder, hovering above us.

"Everyone get on quickly! The cops will be here in no time!" Nathan ordered everyone.

Nathan made sure to get everyone on before him.

The chopper was almost full, just Hana, Nathan, and I left on the ground.

"Hana." Nathan said simply, gesturing for his little sister to climb the ladder first.

"Nathan." She spat back, her voice coming out surprisingly cold and bitter. I stared at her in surprise, turning to see Nathan with the same expression on.

Before any of us could say anything, the small blonde girl suddenly lashed out at me with her foot. Luckily, I managed to step back and out of the way just as her foot sliced the air in front of me, mere inches away from my nose.

"Hana!" Nathan yelled, looking unsure whether to engage or not.

He suddenly sprang into action when he saw her bring her fist up, about to punch me.

I flinched as her fist came closer but opened my eyes to see Nathan holding her arms down behind her.

"What the hell was that!?" He spat out angrily to his sister, roughly pushing her towards the ladder now.

I saw an evil glint in her eye and got an idea of what she was about to do.

"Nathan!" I cried out, just as she brought her head back forcefully. Luckily, my cry to him had caused him to turn his head in my direction, so his nose didn't take the hit.

Nathan's hold on her slightly loosened, and before we knew it, Hana had escaped Nathan's grasp and was heading for the door.

"Nathan." I said in panic, motioning at her attempts to get back in the building.

"Get her." He ordered, a hot fire burning in his eyes. I knew not to argue with that, so I started sprinting after her.

I was just a few feet away when she ripped open the door and started yelling out.

Just as I reached her and the door, about five guards came running out. With guns.

I froze in my tracks and didn't realize they were dragging me inside the building until I felt something jab my back, causing me to stumble forward. I twisted my neck to see a guard with a gun poking into my back behind me.

I desperately looked around for Nathan and my heart sped up as I saw him currently wrestling some guy, trying to get away. He suddenly knocked out one of the guards, leaving only two.

He suddenly turned up to the helicopter that was still above us. "Go! Get out of here!" He yelled up at the fox-like girl that had held him at gunpoint once. I realized he was trying to save the rest, not wanting them to get caught.

I watched the chopper rise up and retreat, but couldn't see anyone inside because of the closed doors and the dark tinted windows.

I turned back to Nathan desperately and my breathing hitched when I saw a guard raise his gun to Nathan as he was busy trying to beat up the other guard.

Before I could open my mouth to scream, a loud bang caused everything to slow down. I watched in horror as Nathan went down slowly, looking down at his wound in shock. My stomach dropped. No.

Glancing at the distracted guard behind me, I escaped from his hold and burst into sprint to where Nathan was on the ground.

"Nathan!" I cried, now noticing the tears coming down my face.

I dropped to his side and took in his leg. There was a stain of blood slowly growing and soaking the spot where he got shot on his dark pants. I sucked in a breath. Immediately I moved closer and brought his torso up so he was sitting up now, leaning against my legs.

"It's just a graze princess. Don't worry about me." Nathan said, trying to sound calm, but his voice came out pained. "Get out of here while you can." He added, looking up at the helicopter which was still lingering around.

I looked up from his wound as he clenched his teeth in pain. "Are you stupid? I am not leaving you you idiot! We need to get you help!" I yelled at him, now looking around me at the four guards surrounding us with their guns ready. I looked up at the helicopter and made eye contact with the foxy girl. I motioned for her to leave, and we shared a long look. She gave me a small nod then, before flying away. How she managed to do that without the guys yelling at her to go back was an impressive mystery to me.

"Someone help him! He works under Ryland! Why are you just standing there?" I cried out to the shocked guards surrounding us.

They all remained silent.

I found Hana standing off to the side, watching it all with her face masked.

"Please, you have to help him." I spoke to her, lowering my voice and giving her a pleading look. "He's your brother. He loves you Hana." I added as I saw her slowly start to crack.

She gave me a scowl suddenly. "Don't call me that." She snapped in an icy tone, before turning around and starting to walk away.

"Wait! You can't just let him just bleed to death!" I cried out to her as I glanced down at Nathan. His eyes were currently squeezed shut in pain. It really hurt me to see him suffer like this, and it pained me even more knowing I couldn't do anything to help him.

I placed my hand gently on his cheek, causing his eyes to open. He tried to give me a small smile to comfort me, but it came out looking like a grimace.

"You're gonna be alright." I promised him, trying to keep my voice from cracking.

I looked up and was surprised when I saw Hana standing over us, looking down at Nathan. I caught a concerned expression just as she placed her cold mask over her face again.

"Bring them both down to the basement and lock 'em up. And get a first-aid kit for his leg." Her voice came out emotionless as she turned and left.

I let out a sigh of relief. So she wasn't that far gone to not care about her own brother...

The guards started to move towards us but before they could touch us, I quickly wrapped Nathan's arm around my shoulder and stood up, slightly wobbling at first, then using all my strength to keep us both up.

I looked up to see a dark haired guard staring at me. When he caught my gaze, he grunted, before turning and leading the way out.

"Move your ass." A gruff voice came out from behind, causing me to start making my way back into the dark building.

"Skylar." Nathan's quiet voice called out to me.

I turned to see him looking down at me intensely. "What's wrong?" My brows furrowed in concern. "Does it hurt really bad? Don't worry, we'll fix it up soon. Just hang in there." I whispered to him as we walked down a poorly lit hall.

I heard him let out a small laugh, surprising me. "As long as you're by my side, I'm perfectly fine." He said, shooting me a beautiful smile.

I shook my head at him. "You're really crazy." I told him.

He just shook his head, before adding. "And I'm sorry for trying to push you away. This is the last thing I'd want, but you give me strength Sky. Thank you for sticking with me."

"Always. Don't forget that." I replied, feeling tears come to my eyes.

"I love you." Nathan said, before wincing in pain as we started stepping down the staircase.

I shot him a concerned look but he waved it off.

"I love you too." I said back.

Before he could reply, a gruff voice cut us off from behind. "Please save the corny lines for later before we kill you."

My eyes widened in panic as I looked up at Nathan who was glaring straight ahead.

His gaze caught mine and he shook his head, trying to reassure me that he was just kidding.

The rest of the walk to wherever we were going was spent in silence.

Finally we reached a door, located in a dark, cold basement. Without warning, the guard who had been leading us ripped open the door and shoved us inside. I quickly caught my balance and went to steady Nathan who winced in pain as he put his weight on his bad leg.

Glaring at the guard who was at the door, I asked "The first-aid kit?"

The buff man just grunted at me, before stepping away so a different guard came into view.

The new guard stepped in and chucked a first-aid kit at us, nearly getting a head-shot on me had I not ducked.

Before I could yell at the dude, the door slammed shut, leaving us in silence. This room was thankfully lit and wasn't dark like the rest of this building. It was a small, windowless square room with white walls surrounding us. The ground was surprisingly carpeted.

Spotting a small, single bed in the corner, I started walking Nathan over there, picking up the first-aid kit on the way.

"Here, I can do it." Nathan said as he took a seat, reaching for the kit.

"No, I got it. You rest." I ordered, pushing him back gently so he was leaning against the upright pillow.

"Yes ma'am." Nathan said in an amused tone, shooting me a wink.

I rolled my eyes. He had just been shot and yet he still had the ability to act like this.

I took a seat at the edge of the bed, facing his injured leg. Pulling open the kit, I found a pair of tweezers. Pulling them out, I turned to face Nathan.

"I'm supposed to pull out the bullet first right?" I asked him, slightly unsure. My only experience in first-aid care was from movies.

Nathan nodded. "Skylar, you don't have to do it. Here just let me." Nathan spoke up, rising up to reach for my tweezers, before wincing in pain as his leg shifted.

"Nathan, this is no time to be Batman. Just let me treat you because this time, you're the damsel in distress and I'm the amazing hero." I scolded him, before moving closer to his leg and gently placing my hand on his calf right above his wound.

"But--" Nathan started to protest, but I shot him a look that said I wasn't in the mood to argue so he reluctantly shut up.

"Fine. Have fun digging around inside my bloody leg looking for a bullet." Nathan rolled his eyes.

"I will." I stated, before moving the tweezers near the open wound.

"That's messed up." Nathan commented with disgust.

I decided to ignore him.

"No really, what kind of person enjoys digging around inside someone's body?" Nathan added.

I clenched my teeth.

"Well aside from serial killers. Wait, does that mean you're a..." Nathan trailed off in horror.

I heaved a frustrated sigh, before putting the tweezers down and turning to stare at Nathan flatly.

He gave me an innocent look, feigning surprise.

"You would really make this a whole lot easier if you didn't open your mouth for the next ten minutes." I stated flatly, crossing my arms.

"How am I supposed to breath?" Nathan asked me with a stupid smirk.

"Through your nose you idiot." I retorted, giving him an are-you-serious look.

"But I can't, because you just take my breath aw--" Nathan started to say with a dreamy look before I cut him off.

"You know what? Screw taking this gently and cautiously. If I accidentally make your leg worse, then so be it." I declared, before grabbing the tweezers and shoving them inside his wound.

Nathan let out a surprised cry of pain as I felt the metallic bullet and grabbed it with the tweezers and pulled it out.

"Got it!" I yelled in victory, holding up the gold bullet coated in blood, before tossing it to the side.

Next, I grabbed a cloth and some disinfectant from the kit. I found a small container of water in it and dumped it over the cloth, before wiping away all of the blood that was on Nathan's leg.

Then, without warning, I sprayed the disinfectant over his wound, causing him to hiss in pain, cursing under his breath.

Tossing the bottle to the side, I found a needle and some thread in the kit.

"Wait Skylar, I don't trust you with that needle." Nathan said warily, still looking pained.

"Really? Well then I guess this is some sort of trust test. It's pretty healthy for our relationship to do this right?" I asked him with a fake smile, before threading the needle and moving to his leg.

This time, I didn't jump into action without any care. I knew this was supposed to be painful and I didn't want to make it any more than necessary.

Taking a deep breath, I dug the needle in lightly and slowly into his skin, and continued to stitch up his leg.

I was surprised at how quick it took to get all stitched up and smiled slightly to myself at my work.

I turned to Nathan who had surprisingly stayed quiet and calm during the stitches.

"That wasn't too bad now was it?" I asked him with a smug look.

"Actually, yes it was. It was extremely painful." Nathan admitted.

I narrowed my eyes at him, before widening them when I realized he was serious.

"Then why didn't you tell me?" I asked him, feeling guilty and bad.

"Because I didn't want to make you feel pressured and freak you out." Nathan told me with a small smile.

"Oh." Was all I said as I realized his sweet gesture. "You're an idiot." I shook my head at him with a small smile.

"But I'm your favorite idiot." Nathan told me with a cheesy grin.

I laughed at that. "I love you." I stated, looking over his handsome face.

"I love you too Sky." Nathan smiled back at me. "And I'm sorry." He added, looking at me intensely.

"For what?" I asked.

"You know what. For being a total self-centered jerk." Nathan said to me with a small frown.

"Nathan, it's not--" I started to say but he cut me off.

"Wait just let me give you a proper apology. I owe you that much." He said to me, reaching out and taking my hand in his.

"I should have discussed you not being a part in this with you. You were right, I have no right to make decisions like these for you. I mean, you are a pretty stubborn girlfriend and I should have known better." He shot me a grin.

I smacked him with my free hand.

"But I just wanted to keep you safe and keep you out of this mess. When Tyler and Landon took so long in agreeing to this plan and you being involved, I was obviously on the same page as them. I believed in your plan Sky, but how could you expect me to put you in harm's way when I'd already done that? And when I love you?" Nathan sighed, running a hand through his hair. "But I was too stupid to realize that in truth I was only pushing you away and hurting us both." He said to me with a sad smile. "And you mean the world to me. I can't let you go that easily, even if I have to risk your safety." Nathan told me with a genuine, handsome smile.

I found myself smiling back and squeezed his hand. "I understand. I'm sure if I was the sexy kidnapper trained with a black belt and you were my cute little captive, I'd feel the same urge to protect you." I admitted. "I get why you did what you did, but let's not keep these things from each other in the future, okay?" I gave him a smile.

"Never again." Nathan promised, before taking my hand in his and placing a gentle kiss on it.

"You're perfect." I stated, moving closer to him and wrapping my arms around him.

"No, I'm just a deranged kidnapper who somehow got lucky enough to meet you." Nathan said back with a chuckle, squeezing me tightly.

Just as I started to pull away, Nathan held me tighter and suddenly we were falling backwards, Nathan landing on the soft mattress underneath with me on top.

"Nathan!" I cried out, struggling to push myself back up. He just held me in place, his grip tight.

"Stop struggling princess." Nathan whispered, causing me to stop trying to get away and stare into his mesmerizing green eyes.

I wanted to stay like this and enjoy the moment. I wanted to stay with him forever and never leave his arms because I was happy.

But I couldn't. At least, not at this very moment.

"'We can enjoy moments like these later. Right now we need a plan." I told Nathan in a strict tone.

He groaned. "You ruin all the fun baby." He pouted at me, making me want to kiss him. But I used all my willpower to not. We could do that once we had won.

I simply shot Nathan a flat look, causing him to sigh, before letting me go. I got off of him and stood up, watching as he sat up and moved to sit against the wall.

"So here's what I've planned so far." Nathan started off, going straight into commando mode.

I smiled at him, admiring how he had already formed something in the past thirty minutes we had been in here.

He caught the look I was giving him and smirked back. "Stop staring at me like you want to jump my bones right now. You're the one who stopped that from happening so listen to my plan now." Nathan scolded me with a smug look.

Why did I love him again?
