"I can't wait until the day I get to poke and probe you for hours." I grumbled at my best friend through the mirror.
"That probably won't be for another ten years." Jess replied with a sigh. "Plus, you're going to shock Nathan so much that he's going to have heart failure." Jess giggled like it was cute when in reality it was a horrible thing that could happen and it only made her seem more like a masochist.
"Hey, Sky's already stressed out enough, you don't need to put these horrific scenarios in her head!" Ella chided as she walked in with a plate of cookies and quickly shut the door behind her.
"The only reason I'm stressed is because of all the pain you guys are putting me through. Like why can't I just walk down the aisle in my white onesie and get it over with? Nathan even has a matching one!" I shook my head, then reached out for my cookies I had ordered.
"What are those?" Jess squealed as her hand that was somewhere lost in my hair froze.
"None of your business." I mumbled through the mouthful of delicious chocolate chip cookies I had quickly stuffed in my mouth.
"You brought her COOKIES!?" Jess screamed at Ella, causing me to shrink back in my chair.
If this was how she acted as a bridesmaid, I'd be terrified to see the day when Tyler finally manned up and proposed to her.
Yes that's right. My brother and my best friend had a thing. They were so deeply in love but also so deeply stupid to realize it.
"She blackmailed me into doing it!" Ella defensively pointed at me. "Plus, it's her special day, she should be able to eat whatever she wants."
I shot her a grateful smile, which was quickly wiped off as Jess' hand somehow escaped from the forest that was my hair and darted forward for my beloveds.
"NO!" I screamed, getting out of my seat and running across the room with the plate safely cradled in my arms and away from the big bad Jess monster.
"Skylar put those cookies down right now!" Jess ordered, stomping her foot for emphasis.
I simply stuffed another one into my mouth and gave her a sugary smile. Pun intended.
Jess gasped at my actions while Ella slowly backed away to a safe corner.
"Skylar the idiot MacCallum, you can't have those!" Jess spoke in a calmer tone. She was still yelling, but it was calm for her.
"Why not?" I yelled back, while bringing my third cookie to my mouth.
"Because it will make you bloated! We barely got you into that size zero dress and I'm not going to throw away all those crunches and squats we did leading up to this day for some stupid cookies!"
I gasped. "It's okay, she didn't mean it." I whispered to my babies. My head shot back up to glare at the monster trying to come between my cookies and I.
It had been tough. Jess would stop by each day just to make sure I hadn't stocked up my kitchen with a single trace of dessert or anything fattening. She was like my own personal trainer. Except she was also the spawn of Satan at the same time. She had taken my wedding into her own hands, along with the help of Ella, making sure everything would be perfected. I adored the girl for all she had done to make today perfect for me, but I at least deserved a few cookies after having endured her merciless boot camp.
Just as I was about to tell her she could stick some celery up her behind, the door burst open and a frantic Tyler strode in.
"What the hell is going on!? You were supposed to be downstairs two minutes ago!" Tyler yelled at me. He looked between the cookies in my arms and the fuming Jess, and it didn't even take more than five seconds for him to understand what was going on.
He let out a frustrated sigh. "I can't believe I'm letting this two year old get married." He muttered under his breath, before walking over to Jess who instantly relaxed at his touch.
I fake gagged at that.
"Hey, why don't you go downstairs and tell Landon he won't be needing to track down Skylar and that we'll be there in five minutes." He spoke in a soothing voice. "I got it from here."
She looked like she was about to argue, but after a silent conversation between the two lovebirds, her shoulders sagged and she left, but not before glaring at me.
I blew her a kiss and flinched when she faked a sprint towards me.
Tyler then shot Ella a look, and then approached me cautiously. "You know Nathan's probably hyperventilating thinking that you did a runner." He stated.
My face softened and I felt a pang of guilt as I realized he was probably right.
"And you can have all the cookies in the world after this." He added.
I looked down at my feet which weren't visible under the heavy white material of my dress.
"So hand over the plate and let Ella fix you up so you can marry the guy who you wanted to marry so badly." Tyler held out a hand. "That is what you want, right?"
My head shot up and I handed over the plate without any hesitance. "Yeah, of course I do. Oh my God, Ella hurry up. We're so late!" I yelled, running over to the vanity set up in the small room and plopping down in the chair.
I turned expectantly when she didn't come immediately to see her looking at Tyler in confusion.
"I think she had a short mental breakdown from all the stress, but it's over now." Tyler explained to Ella, who nodded slowly.
I was too worried to tell Tyler that he was the crazy one so I just got up and dragged Ella towards the chair and sat back down, shoving random bottles and clips in her hands.
"Hurry up and make me look beautiful!" I yelled.
Ella shook her head and chuckled, before quickly getting to work.
"I'll be downstairs waiting." Tyler said, walking to the door. "And Sky?"
I looked up at him to see him stopped halfway out the door with a glint in his eye.
"You're already beautiful." He smiled sincerely at me and my heart softened. Before I could run up to him to inspect his eyes of tears and hug him, he was gone.
I looked back in the mirror to see Ella had quickly transformed my hair from the half up-do Jess had left it in, into a beautiful, elegant bun with a few curled strands hanging out by my face. It was a mix of braids and curls all in a bun, and it looked perfect.
"You look stunning." Ella breathed out, admiring her's and Jess' work.
I stared back in the mirror and couldn't help but appreciate their work. They hadn't done too much, but that was what I loved about it. I still looked like Skylar. They had put on a deep shade of elegant pink lipstick on my plump lips, adding some bright color to my otherwise light make-up which consisted of eye-liner and some powder. My medium brown hair hung loosely in that elegant bun, the few curled strands framing my face well, and my slightly tanned skin was exposed on my neck and chest, before the beautiful white dress started out with a sweetheart neckline with tiny sparkles embedded at the top, and wrapped around my torso, before it erupted into a big poof at my bellybutton, the organza material fluffing out until it touched the floor, making a swishing noise whenever I walked. I truly did feel beautiful this day, but still not quite as beautiful as I felt when Nathan looked at me.
"And now, the final touch." Ella grinned excitedly, slowly and carefully lowering a weightless veil over my head, without so much as rustling a single strand of my hair.
"Okay now lets go before Nathan dies waiting!" Ella snapped us out of our admiring and I quickly stood up with her as we made it as fast as we could to the door; well, as fast as we possibly could without ripping the beautiful dress.
"Final--" Tyler cut himself off as his eyes landed on me, and slowly, a proud smile took over his face.
"Wow." My eyes snapped to Landon who was also admiring me with a proud smirk. "We did good Ty."
"Yeah we did." Tyler agreed, throwing his arm over Landon's shoulder and pulling him into his side.
Ella and Jess shared a look of horror mixed with amusement while I started mumbling the lyrics to Bromance.
Not too soon, Tyler and Landon joined in, and then before we knew it, all five of us were singing the Bromance song.
"I LOVE YOU, IN THE MOST HETEROSEXUAL WAY!" We all basically screamed, Tyler and Landon gripping each other while belting their hearts out.
"Um guys, Nathan's about to lose himself and Max told me to tell you to hurry up." Dustin appeared through the doors and looked up at us all.
The sad thing was, he didn't even appear to look surprised.
"And Landon?" Dustin looked up at him. Although it had been a year since I first met him, he still had to tilt his head way back in order to see us all properly.
"Yeah?" Landon looked down at him with a smile.
"Aren't you supposed to be in there standing next to Max?" He asked, hooking his thumb back in the direction of the doors which led to the wedding hall. I really did hope these doors were sound proof.
"Oh shit!" My idiot of a best friend swore, before sprinting off down the hallway. "I said ship!" He yelled over his shoulder, before disappearing from around the corner, heading to the backdoor.
"And L.S? You look like a magical queen, Nathan's going to be so excited." Dusting grinned up at me, causing my heart to melt at the kid.
I was so glad he got to be the ring-bearer. "Thanks kid. Now don't make me cry and ruin my makeup." I ordered, smiling jokingly yet feeling my emotions start to rise to the surface.
"Be strong like Simba!" Dustin then yelled in encouragement, causing me to laugh off the nerves and avert another breakdown.
"Okay, ready?" Tyler stared at me, offering his elbow.
"Too bad because we don't have time for that gushy 'I'm so proud of my little sister' moment and Jess will have my head if I make that black stuff on your face run so let's go get you married!" He yelled all in one breath, grabbing my hand and placing it in the crook of his elbow, before Jess and Ella ripped open the doors right in front of us which would lead me to the love of my life.
The first thing that my eyes landed on was not the long white carpet sprawled out for me, nor the dozens of people who had abruptly turned in their chairs to stare at me, nor was it the beautiful decor of the building. No. My eyes instantly landed on the most beautiful human being ever and my breath was caught. His eyes had a mixture of relief and admiration as they connected with mine, and I tried to send him an apology through my eyes, but soon got distracted checking him out.
He looked absolutely charmingly handsome in his black tuxedo, fitting him well enough to show off his strong build, but not too much to outline every chiseled muscle. That was just for me. His messy dark hair had been styled neatly into a small quiff, complimenting his defined jawline and angular, sexy face. I had to restrain my hand from going up to my mouth to check for drool.
Once I was done eating him with my eyes, I was soon entrapped by those stunning emerald eyes and before I knew it, Tyler was letting me go and I was facing the guy who was my world. I stepped up to stand in front of him and he ever so delicately lifted the veil from my face, his eyes taking in my face.
"Wow." He breathed out, causing my heart to beat faster.
We continued staring into each others' eyes and not once did we look away. Not even when we heard the wailing sobs of Ella and Jess while the sermon talked on.
I could not hear a word he was saying even if I tried, because the sound of my erratically beating heart and the intensity and passion between Nathan and I was all too distracting to make a single word out from the balding fat man.
"Do you, Nathan MacCallum, take Skylar Westbrook as your truly wedded wife?" The man's voice somehow managed to reach the both of us as we turned to look at him staring expectantly at Nathan.
Nathan turned back to face me and I couldn't help but bite my lip in anticipation.
"I do." He answered.
My stomach exploded into butterflies and I felt my cheeks hurt from the gigantic smile on my face. Those two words made me want to jump into his arms and kiss the living daylights out of him. But of course I had to wait because we weren't done yet.
"And do you, Skylar Westbrook, take Nathan MacCallum as your truly wedded husband?" I could feel the man's gaze on me, but I could not tear my eyes away from the love of my life.
"I do." I replied without hesitation, causing a smile to break out onto Nathan's face which mirrored mine.
"I now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." The man said his last words with a smile and we didn't have to be asked twice.
Nathan stepped forward, taking my hands in his and tilted his head down, his striking green eyes burning with so much love and emotion, probably mirroring mine.
I tilted my head up slightly, and ever so slowly and gently, yet so sweetly and passionately, we locked lips and sealed the deal.
We could hear the erupted cheers from all around us, yet we still continued on. Our lips gradually moving faster in a truly enchanting kiss. My hands rested on his chest while his hands delicately held my face. Then somehow, without breaking the kiss, my charming romantic boyfriend dipped me back, holding me securely in his arms as I squeaked in surprise, my lips smiling against his.
He pulled away from me after our magical kiss then and lifted me back up.
"I absolutely, madly and truly love you Skylar MacCallum." Nathan breathed out, causing my stomach to flutter.
"And I just as much crazily, honestly and immensely love you Nathan MacCallum." I answered back with passion embedded in each word, before a smirk took over my face. "My sexy kidnapper." I whispered.
He pulled me closer and in an instant we were kissing again, and I could feel the smile on his lips as we eliminated any space between us.
"Okay kids that's enough, unless you want to be paying the therapy bills for Dustin once his traumatic experience is over." Tyler's stern voice interrupted our moment and made us snap back to the now, where cheers and weeps could be heard from all around. Yet we still somehow managed to keep our gazes unwavering from each other.
"Oh shut up Tyler! It's their wedding day, let them rejoice!" I heard Jess' voice reprimand my sour brother.
Nathan let out an annoyed sigh and I just giggled at his discomfort, although I also didn't really appreciate our new company.
"Why would I need therapy? I'm mature and have gotten over cooties. And plus, I've seen Nathan and Skylar kiss lots of time, this is nothing compared to that." Dustin's little voice spoke up.
Jess and Ella seemed to find that cute and let out giggles.
Nathan pulled me closer into him and whispered in my ear "So we have two options. We can either stay here and listen to these idiots blabber on. Or, we could escape through the back door and not have to deal with any crying relatives or cameras flashing in our faces and continue this someplace quiet."
"Wait what!? Nathan you did what in front of our little brother!?" Max's loud voice thundered, interrupting the soft voice of Nathan.
"I like the latter. Except, how are we going to escape? It's kind of hard not to miss a girl walking around in a huge snowball." I whispered back into his ear, both of us completely ignoring the arguments and comments in front of us.
"Princess, don't you know?" Nathan gave me a mock hurt look. "I always have a plan." He whispered in my ear, his warm breath making me shiver.
Then, two seconds later, the lights shut off and the room was filled with darkness and screams of the ladies and Landon.
"Let's go." I heard Nathan's voice say in a hush, before grabbing me and carrying me bridal style, literally, off to who knows where.
I felt the adrenaline and excitement kick in and welcomed the familiar feeling with open arms. The fact that I was marrying and tying myself to this guy for the rest of our lives didn't frighten me. Instead, it brought crazy butterflies, cardiovascular failure, shots of adrenaline and above all, love. This guy was my definition of love. He taught me how to love, he accepted all my love, and he gave me all of his love. It was a beautiful thing, really. And I could not wait to get started on our new adventure filled with tears, laughs, smirks, stolen kisses, and passion.
And lots of babies.
