NATHAN'S POV
I smiled one last time at Sky and Dustin before walking down the hall to the elevator.
I wasn't sure if it was the safest decision to leave my kidnapee alone in my apartment for two days with my eight year old brother, but I had no other choice. I couldn't miss this. I usually had one of the guards babysit him but ever since one of them raised a hand at Dustin, I didn't trust anyone else, so I had stopped going. But Skylar was someone who I trusted with Dustin...
I just prayed that she didn't try any more stints to escape while I was away. It ached my heart keeping her prisoner but I'd rather be watching over her myself than be having her locked up in the basement storage room.
The elevator doors opened to the parking floor revealing Alv-- Ryland, standing there against the wall, his arms crossed.
After being with her for almost three days straight, that girl had my thoughts invaded. She may be crazy, but she never failed to amuse me.
"Finally." Ryland muttered, pushing himself off the wall and walking off.
I despised that sniveling bastard. If he didn't own a whole army of men and hold so much control over me, I wouldn't hesitate on snapping his short little neck in a second...
I took in a deep breath before following his short figure to the black SUV parked at the very end of the parking lot.
I was in for one hell of a trip, one without Skylar there to make me laugh this time. She was the only person that had made me laugh a certain way in a long time, when she was supposed to be scared of me. It sounded selfish and stupid, but I sort of wished that I could keep her with me for a while. She made me feel more alive in a way. It got lonely here and although I had an amazing younger brother around, I didn't mind Skylar and the way she made me feel. Her touch, her laugh, her weird outbursts and behaviors... God I'm starting to sound like a love sick puppy.
"We're here." Ryland grumbled, interrupting my thoughts. I looked out the window to see the large airport approaching us.
Staring up at the busy building, I reminded myself of the reason I was going. That was enough to make me step out of the car and gather my luggage from the back with Ryland.
We then wordlessly made our way into the airport, Ryland's men following closely behind. I noticed as soon as I walked in, every female in sight turned their head my way as if expecting the president to walk right in. I ignored it at first, but soon I saw some ladies starting to make their way towards me with raunchy smirks.
Now I really wish Sky was here, she would knock out all of them...but I knew she'd only do it for herself, not over me. But nonetheless, I smirked at the thought, following Ryland to the check-in line as soon as I saw him start to walk away. I wasn't getting left alone with all those females...
SKYLAR'S POV
"Alright off to bed now!" I said, getting out of the fort that had been built by Dustin and I. We had tried to get Max to join in on our fun, but apparently he'd rather write a twelve page essay for some assignment he had for college.
I switched off the TV and walked Dustin to his room.
"Goodnight Dustin." I said softly after tucking him in.
"Night LS!" He smiled back and turned to his side, closing his eyes and dozing off slowly.
I sat there for a while, making sure he wasn't faking and silently dying out of awe. I finally got up and went back to the living room, planning on watching some chick-flicks.
It was only nine o'clock and I had nothing to do tomorrow, other than being kidnapped. Max had already said he'd drop Dustin off to school so I could sleep in, which was great.
As I walked back into the living room I found Max sprawled out on the couch with some basketball game on.
"Aren't you supposed to be working on your essay?" I asked him, standing in front of the television with my hands on my hips. God I felt like a mother, tucking in little boys and scolding college boys...
"It's already done." He said in a dry tone.
"But..." I trailed off, trying to find a good excuse for him to get off the couch and let me watch What A Girl Wants or Sydney White.
If it wasn't apparent enough, I loved any movie with Amanda Bynes. Even if she screwed up her life, got dimple piercings, and was becoming the next Lindsey Lohan.
"Yes, move your butt out of the way." He said with an annoyed sigh, leaning right and trying to watch his game.
I rolled my eyes at his lame pun. "Look, I've been working my butt off since this morning so I would really appreciate it if you moved your butt off of the couch and let me sit there and watch my movie." I crossed my arms as I glared at him.
He instantly glared back. "Work? You've been doing nothing but building forts and watching Disney movies. I'm the one who's been working and I deserve to sit here. Oh and don't forget, this is my house so I can do whatever the hell I want." He sat back with a victory smirk.
He was starting to sound a bit like Alvin...
"I don't care, I'm watching my movie." I said stubbornly.
"Okay." He shrugged.
I stared at him in surprise. "Okay?"
"Okay." He repeated.
"Cool..." I trailed off.
I stared at him for a long time.
He finally acknowledged my burning gaze and raised a brow.
"Well?" I asked. "Aren't you gonna move?"
"Why would I move? This is the most intense game I've ever seen." He mumbled.
I turned to watch the screen. It looked like one team was beating the other by a land-slide.
"In the past five minutes." He added with a smirk.
I scolded myself for letting myself fall for that.
"You said I could watch my movie." I said, leveling a steady gaze with him. My tone was slightly growing louder and I was nearing my limit of composure.
"I know. What's your point?" He asked with a raised brow.
I swear I'll shave that brow off in his sleep if he does that one more time.
"My point is that you haven't gotten your lazy ass up off of the couch yet!" I yelled in frustration. "Why are you still sitting here!" I added, losing any control I had been grasping onto now.
"I'm not stopping you from watching your movie." He shrugged at me.
I was about to yell back at him, before I shut my mouth and turned to the TV.
He had a point. All I had to do was switch the TV to Netflix. And as for my spot on the couch, I had a better idea...
I hid my evil grin and walked over to the TV. I switched it off and slowly turned to see what he'd do.
My brows raised in surprise as he was just sitting there with a bored look, watching me.
I guess he got the message then.
I switched on my kidnapper's Apple TV, it didn't surprise me he had one, and went to the Netflix app. I took my time typing in the name of the movie and when it popped up, I clicked on it and turned to the couch.
Now for the grand finale...
I walked up to the edge of the couch, turned, then jumped about two feet in the air before crashing my butt down onto his unsuspecting torso.
I expected him to yell at me or push me off, but was again surprised when I got no reaction. Was he dead?
I slightly turned my head to see him staring at me with an amused expression instead of instantly getting up like I had hoped.
I groaned in frustration, causing him to let out a small chuckle.
I finally sighed in frustration, standing up and taking a seat on the uncomfortable ground.
Inhumane asshole...
"What movie is this?" He asked as the first scene rolled in.
"One of the best movies ever." I said distractedly.
"I didn't know they had a movie called that." He said sarcastically.
I ignored him and watched as Amanda Bynes appeared for her first scene. I held back a squeal.
"What movie is this?" He repeated his question, this time louder.
I shot him a quick glare before ignoring him again.
There was silence finally, then I heard some shuffling around.
I slightly jumped as I felt his presence right behind my shoulder which was leaning against the bottom of the couch.
He brought his mouth to my ear and whispered, creeping me out slightly.
"Are you gonna tell me the name of the movie or am I going to have to torture you?" He threatened.
"Torture me?" I retorted. Was he in on the whole kidnapping plan with Alvin and Nathan too?
"Yes torture you." He confirmed, a small smirk present in his tone.
"Please. If I can knock out Nathan, I'm pretty sure I can knock out his own-" I started.
"You knocked out Nathan!?" Max interrupted, surprise and shock in his voice as he sat up now.
Oops. I probably shouldn't have told him. Nathan would surely kill me...
"What? Are you for real? No!" I nervously giggled, but it came out sounding more like a high pitched impression of a dying frog.
"Is it true?" He asked excitedly, staring at me with a look of approval.
Screw what Nathan would do to me, I wasn't passing up the appraisal by a bench-pressing college guy for punching my own kidnapper.
"Yeah." I said casually now.
"I think we're gonna be great friends." He smiled down at me.
I returned the smile. Another friend!
"So what movie is this?" He asked me.
I decided to tell him, since he had complimented me on knocking out his brother. "What a girl wants." I told him, turning back around and facing the screen.
It was on the scene where Daphne was about to meet Ian in that hotel.
"This is so cli-" He started.
"If you don't wanna watch then go away." I shushed him without turning away from the screen.
"Calm down it's just-" He had the nerve to talk again.
"SHUT UP!" I yelled, shooting him a glare then turning back to the screen.
There was silence and I relaxed back into my uncomfortable spot on the ground.
After a few moments of him silent and me watching the movie intently, I heard small snickers escaping from him behind me.
He was laughing?
His whole family except for Dustin were crackheads.
I ignored him and stared in awe as Ian flirted with Daphne. My dreamy smile turned into a glare as Max's snickers became loud bursts of laughter.
I abruptly stood up and turned to face him, crossing my arms. I silently stood there, giving him a flaming glare. When he finally noticed he quickly shut up.
"I swear to god if you don't shut up I will cut your fricking balls off with a light-saber." I threatened him in a steady tone, my fists shaking at my sides.
He just stared back with wide eyes. When he didn't give me a smart-ass retort, I mentally smirked at my threatening skills.
I sighed and sat down on the couch, this time making sure to grab his legs and roughly throw them off my half of the couch before I sat down at last.
I continued watching my movie peacefully after. I almost forgot that Max was still here until I switched off the TV as the credits rolled in and turned around.
He was sat on the edge of the couch, eyes still glued to the screen and his elbows were resting on his knees, hands clasped together in the middle. His soft blond hair was slightly ruffled up in a cute way.
"Are you gonna stop staring or am I going to have to file a report to the police for sexual-" he started, facing me with a smirk.
"Five." I cut him off.
"What?" He gave me a confused look.
"Four." I replied, causing his brows to furrow.
"Why are you-"
"Three." I continued, watching his smile slowly wear off.
His eyes suddenly widened. "No wait! Skylar I-"
"Two." I gave him a wicked grin.
"But-" he frantically tried again.
"One." I said quietly. There was a small moment of dead silence, before all hell broke loose.
NATHAN'S POV
I snapped my eyes open and jumped slightly, getting ready to hit the fucker who woke me.
"Relax, we're here." I turned to my right to see Ryland standing in the aisle with our luggage in his hands.
I noticed we were the only ones left on the plane.
Trudging up now, I exited the plane.
The rest of the journey was spent in silence and me anxiously awaiting on what was to come.
I stepped out of the car as we stopped in front of the building. It hadn't changed much. The paint was now more visibly peeling off of the walls and the grass surrounding it had grown a lot taller. I hated what was on the other side, but unfortunately someone who I loved was confined there.
I followed Ryland through the doors and we walked down the long narrow corridor which was poorly lit.
I nervously ran a hand through my hair as we stopped in front of the black windowless door guarded by two buff men who quickly moved to open the door once they saw Ryland.
This was it...
SKYLAR'S POV
I fell back onto the floor at the same time as Max, both of us breathing heavily.
I was so exhausted I knew it was impossible to get up now.
"I." I turned my head to Max's panting voice.
"So." Pant. "Kicked." Pant. "Your ass." Pant.
I shot him a glare. "Says the one that's so out of shape." I replied, without any breaks.
"Please, you weren't even running it was more like trying to catch a dying old turtle." He rolled his eyes, his breathing back to normal now.
"Then why'd it take you so long to catch me?" I asked with a small smirk.
"Oh! You wanna go for round two?" He asked, pushing himself up on one elbow.
"No!" I all but screamed. No way in hell was I going through that again... How he found all my ticklish spots, was beyond my knowledge.
"That's what I thought." He said with a smirk, collapsing back onto the floor.
We lay in silence for a while, staring up at the ceiling. I yawned loudly and stretched my arms. "Max?" I asked softly, my eyelids drooping like molasses.
"Mhmm?" He replied, sounding like he was also on the verge of dozing off.
"You're pretty cool." I said with a small smile.
"You're not too bad yourself." He said with a matching smile in his voice.
"But I will get my revenge." Was the last thing I said before finally dozing off right there on the hard floor which felt like a king-sized double mattress at the moment.
I think I just made a new best friend. The thought suddenly reminded me of Landon. I felt a small tear roll down my cheek as I finally blacked out.
