I pulled back into the driveway after an agonizing ten-minute drive home from Stabucks; Shawn was going to be furious. Beyond furious. I parked the car and took the key out of the ignition, remaining in the car for a bit.
I half expected Shawn to kick the door down and drag me out of the car. When he didn't, I started getting anxious. He had to know I was back, so that probably meant that he was waiting for me to come inside...
I took a shaky breath and stepped out of the car, locking it. I tensed up as I neared the front door, waiting any second for Shawn to throw it open and yank me inside. Again, nothing; it was like he wasn't even there.
I shifted my hand from the door to the doorknob, trying to decide whether I should knock or just open it. Well, it was my house, so I guess it made more sense to try and open the door. I slowly brought my hand down and turned the knob; it was unlocked. With a deep breath I opened the door and stepped inside.
The room looked exactly the way it did when I left, except for the fact that all the lights were turned off and the chair I broke was cleaned up... Also, more importantly, where the fuck was Shawn?
"Shawn-Holy shit!" I yelped, Shawn suddenly coming from behind me and grappling my hoodie in his fist, pushing me up against and forcing my back onto the dining table. He'd been waiting behind the door for me!
"Where the fuck were you!?" He yelled furiously (as I expected).
"I-uh...Sh-Shawn why don't we have a calm-" I stammered, getting interrupted by Shawn slamming his hand down hard next to my head, making me flinch.
"We'll have a calm godamn conversation after you tell me where you were and what you did." Shawn gritted out threateningly, his blue eyes filled with barely controlled rage.
I knew that if I just suddenly said that I was having a chat with Spike in Starbucks, everything would just get worse. I needed to calm Shawn down first! "Shawn you seriously need to calm down first." I said. Because he was only going to freak out more after I told him.
Shawn sneered at me. "I'll calm the fuck down after you give a me an explanation on why you ran away, stole my car, avoided all my questions, searched 'what foods make you poop' on your phone, and where the fuck you were." He ordered.
I swallowed uneasily. "I... I was at Starbucks." I admitted.
A confused frown crossed Shawn's face before he narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Who were you meeting there?" He asked deeply.
I broke eye contact with Shawn. "The person who called this morning." I muttered.
Shawn looked perplexed again. "Matt? Why would..." He smiled darkly. "Oh, not Matt; meaning you lied." He suddenly gripped my jaw with his free hand. "I really hope Las Vegas' life was worth this Jake." He crooned cruelly.
"I didn't lie to you!" I protested in a panic.
Shawn's grip on my jaw tightened. "You said Matt called. He obviously didn't; it's no use trying to keep on lying about it." He said with a chilling smile.
"Wait! I never lied to you- I lied to my mom! You just happened to be in the same room! You can listen to the whole morning through your bugs anyways- I made sure that I never lied to you!" I yelled defensively. I wasn't about to let Las Vegas get murdered because I was trying to catch a murderer!
Shawn's eyes widened. "You clever fucking bitch; you really thought this shit out, didn't you?" He seethed. "Who would you have gone through so much trouble to meet?" He asked.
I opened my mouth try and tell him to calm down again before Shawn interrupted me.
"And if the next word that comes out of your kissable little mouth isn't the name of who you saw, I'll take that as an invitation to kill someone you know." Shawn threatened, pushing by back further into the table.
Fuck. I bit my lip tensely, forced to keep eye contact with Shawn because of his grip on my jaw. I inhaled deeply. "...Spike." I murmured faintly.
"Louder." Shawn demanded, not hearing me the first time.
"Spike!" I yelled. Shawn froze in shock, his grip on my jaw falling. I had to say something before Shawn started freaking out! "B-but I had a good reason to go, he-AUGH!"
Shawn roughly yanked me from the table dragged me across the room to the couch, shoving me on it face first. Before I could sit up, Shawn climbed over me, pinning my legs against the couch with his, brooding over me.
I opened my mouth to ask what he was doing but froze when I felt something wet on my neck. Was he... kissing my neck? "Shawn?" I said anxiously.
Shawn bit my neck hard. "Shut up." He said before pushing my head aside to get better access to my neck.
My panic morphed into dread when I felt his hand go up my shirt. "Wait!" I yelped, moving to scramble away from Shawn. No way was he about to feel me up!
Shawn gripped my shoulder to keep me from escaping. "Why should I?" He challenged darkly.
I thought a moment. "B-because of this!" I said, unzipping my hoodie and shakily thrusting the folder into Shawn's face. He was about to feel it anyways if he kept going up, but I was sure he'd think I was hiding it from him if I didn't tell him myself.
Shawn removed his hand from my stomach and sat, sitting on my back. I heard paper rustling behind for a few moments before Shawn sighed. "You dumb little shit- you should have told me right away when he called." Shawn grumbled angrily.
"That wouldn't have worked." I mumbled, still a shaken. If Shawn had kept going... nothing would had ever been the same.
There was a moment of silence. "I wasn't going to go all the way..." Shawn said sheepishly, noticing my discomfort.
"Oh yeah?" I said doubtfully.
Shawn suddenly flipped me onto my back. "Yeah, if I do you- no, when I do you, you're going to be begging me for my dick." He said seriously, staring me in the eyes sincerely. "I won't except anything less."
I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be relieved by that or highly disturbed. "Just... please don't do that again." I said, clutching the side of my neck that he bit.
"Alright." Shawn said, giving me a reassuring smile. "Sorry, I was pissed off..." He said, and then frowned. "Actually, I'm still pissed off. What the fuck were you thinking!?"
"I was thinking that we find out who the killer is so we can solve our problem." I contended.
"By meeting with another killer!?" Shawn screamed incredulously.
I bit my lip. "...I guess?"
Shawn took a deep breath to calm himself, but yelled at me again anyways. "Jake, are you fucking nuts!? What if something happened!? What if he was planning something!? We agreed that I was going to stay here so that I could protect you- not so you could steal my car so you can go on a coffee date with tool of a punk who's threatened to kill you!" He rambled.
"I swear, I was cautious the entire time. I mean it's pretty unlikely that he'd do something to me in the middle of a crowded Starbucks while fatally injured, right?" I said, trying to calm him down.
"You made it so that I couldn't reach you even if something bad happened! You-"
"I stole your favorite car, I know! And I'm sorry! But isn't it pretty damn important that I got that folder!?" I asked.
"Not when you put yourself at risk like that you dumbass! And-" Shawn's angry expression faded and he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Wait, how did you know that's my favorite car?"
"...Spike told me." I said hesitantly, already knowing Shawn wouldn't like it.
He glared at me again and narrowed his eyes. "What else did you two chat about?" He asked, suspiciously.
"Nothing really important." I said truthfully. We just talked a bit and then he gave me the folder... and that was it. But I knew that Shawn had a tendency to go ballistic over the simplest things, so I didn't really want to talk about it.
"If you don't tell me everything that you remember from your conversation in five seconds I'll kill the first bastard that I see outside. And don't think I won't; I'm pretty fucking pissed off." Shawn threatened. "Five... four..."
"Uh, I came in, Spike laughed at me because I had the handcuff. I asked him why he was helping me, and he said it's because I saved his life twice from your crazy ass. He called me an idiot, we argued. He offered to run away with me. He gave me the file, then told me to get out of town after hearing about the ace. Then he yelled that I was a dense idiotic fuck, and then left." I listed quickly. "And that's basically it! Nothing seriously important other than the folder-"
"Wait a second." Shawn interjected, staring at me in shock. "He offered to run away with you?" He asked.
"There was no way that I'd go with him." I said, trying to calm Shawn down before he lost it.
"You dense hot piece of ass! It's the fact that he even asked that's the problem!" Shawn yelled. "That ass hole was trying to take you from me." He muttered furiously.
"Uh... he backed off after I said no..." I said carefully. Seriously, what the hell was the big deal?
"He wanted to marry you!" Shawn yelled as if it were obvious.
"What!?" I yelled in alarm.
"Maybe not right away, but all you'd need to do is drive to Las Vegas, then..." Shawn glared at me. "I can buy a ring just as fancy as he can!"
"I never said you couldn't!" I yelled. "And he wasn't even dangerous! It was a stupid offer and I refused. You think the guy could have done anything even if he wanted to? He was injured!"
"He broke into my max security cellar and kidnapped you- while pretty damn injured." Shawn pointed out. "But he didn't even have to kidnap you this time. He just had to claim he knew information and you came running." He seethed.
"I-I know, but I'm serious when I say that I was careful." I insisted.
Shawn looked at me doubtfully. "Jake, you may be cute and fucking crafty, but you don't know danger until it hits you in the face- which is often."
I frowned and thought for a moment. "Name one time that I 'didn't know danger'." I demanded. I always knew from the start that every killer I came across was bad news...
Shawn deadpanned. "...You do know that you have your hot and sexy killer of a stalker straddling you in the middle of your own living room, right?"
"Oh..." I said, tearing my thoughts away from out conversation long enough to realize that I was lying back on the couch with Shawn sitting lightly on my waist. "Get the fuck off me!" I demanded, struggling to sit up and push him off. "Besides, you said yourself that my life wasn't in danger with you." I said through gritted teeth, struggling with Shawn to throw him off.
Shawn suddenly grabbed my shoulders and pushed me onto my back again, leaning over me. He smiled suggestively. "I never said anything about your virginity." He crooned.
I felt a blush go across my face. "Get the fuck off me." I repeated.
"You know, you're really sexy when you blush." Shawn stated, running a thumb across my cheek.
I flinched away. "Get off." I ground out.
"Or else what?" Shawn asked playfully.
"...I...uh..." I stammered. Fuck, I couldn't really do much... why the hell did he have so much control, over my damn life!? I couldn't even lie! "Or else I'll get increasingly irritated at you." I sighed indignantly.
Shawn snorted out a laugh. "Even though you're normally pissed at me on an hourly basis?"
"I'll poison your food with prune juice." I tried again.
"Oh, I flung that shit on the sidewalk as soon as you left." He said.
Well, I was all out of ideas. "Shawn, please get off me." I sighed.
He sighed. "Alright, alright. Just one more thing."
I stiffened when I heard something click. Looking to the side, I saw that Shawn had handcuffed my hand to his. "What the hell Shawn!?" I yelled, futilely trying to yank the handcuff off.
Shawn eased himself off of me and took a seat besides me. "Well, I need to keep tabs on you somehow. Since if I can't even go to the damn bathroom without you running off." He said bitterly.
"Shawn, this is ridiculous!" I protested.
"You're lucky that I'm even letting you off with this much. And don't worry, we'll take it off before your mom gets home." Shawn insured me.
"Alright." I sighed in defeat. A couple of hours wouldn't be that bad, right? And I did sort of deserve it.
Shawn smirked cruelly. "Hope you don't have to go to the bathroom any time soon."
"... Are you trying to get back at me?" I asked, trying to ignore the fact that I already sort of needed to pee.
"Yup." Shawn said, sending me a grin.
