Thanks for waiting so long for my slow ass! Now here's more of the dorks doing more inappropriate things at inappropriate times.

We stared at the fireworks and smoke through my shattered window for a few moments before the sound of sirens snapped Shawn back to reality. He gripped my shoulders and spun me around to face him.

"What the hell did you do?" He hissed. "How did you know this was going to happen?"

I snapped back to reality too. "Before that, I need to check on my mom!" I exclaimed in concern, scrambling up to get out of Shawn's grip on my shoulders.

"Are you trying to get out of this?" He hissed, only tightening his grip.

I shook my head. "No, I'm not. I'll explain right after I check on her- something just fucking blew up!" I said fretfully. When Shawn still wouldn't budge his grip, I took a shaky breath to calm down. "Would you rather she come in here and notice that the window is broken and that there's a damn brick on the floor?" I reasoned.

Shawn glared thoughtfully for a moment before releasing me. "...Alright." He said reluctantly.

I nodded and quickly exited my room, walking down the hall to my mom's. I slowly opened the door and see that the lights were turned off. I padded over towards her bed quietly to see if she was there. I heard soft snores coming from a bundle of covers on the right side.

"Is she there?" Shawn whispered from the door.

I walked back quietly to meet him. "Yeah, she can sleep through about anything; apparently even explosions." I said in relief. Now we'd have time to talk and hide the brick before she woke up... The shattered window was a different story.

"Good." Shawn said, grabbing my hand and dragging me back to my bedroom. He forced me to sit by him on the mattress by my bed. "Now, let's get back to your room and have you explain what the fuck happened when I was gone."

I swallowed. "... Smiles forced me to do the skype without you." I admitted.

Shawn's eyes widened in surprise before he narrowed them angrily at me. "You should have waited for me despite his threats! What did he say, that he'd kill your family?" He asked furiously.

"Well judging from that explosion outside, he would easily have been able to." I argued, motioning my head towards the window. Like he had any right to talk; he threatened to kill my family and friends all the fucking time!

"Jake, just talking to him is dangerous." Shawn said. "Now what the hell happened? Do you know why he wanted to talk to you alone?" He asked worriedly.

"I think that he wanted to assess me without you there to interfere, though I don't know why. He asked me questions about how he did the murder-"

"Did he grade you?" Shawn interrupted anxiously. How did he know that!?

I nodded. "...Yeah."

He paled, and there was a moment of tense silence before he asked: "What did you get?"

"Seven and a half."

"Thank God" He sighed loudly in relief. "Holy fuck, hardly anyone gets higher than a five or six with that guy. Thank God." He said, pulled me into a tight embrace.

I frowned. "How do you know-"

Shawn interrupted again. "Holy fuck, fucking thank God for your smart-ass cute head." He said, pulling back to grip the sides of my head affectionately.

I batted his hands away. "Shawn, who the hell even is that posh-ass guy?" I asked.

Shawn's smile faded. "Someone I used to know." He said ominously. I waited for him to continue, but he didn't, getting lost in his thoughts instead.

I cleared my throat. "Care to continue?" I asked.

He stared at me for a moment and then sighed in exasperation. "Fine, I guess nothing can get worse by telling you. Him and I used to be business partners; we worked as sort of hit men for people who just wanted others gone, without caring how we did it as long as it couldn't be traced back to them."

"That explains where your money comes from." I muttered, trying to ignore how fucked up that was.

He nodded. "That's why I did it, so that I could get money, and while I was at it, choose more people to be cards. But Miles, or at least that's what he went by back then, got other people involved. He'd turn it into a game, asking people questions, grading them, and if they did badly, killing them. But that wasn't all; he had higher goals to become a crime lord or some shit, which I didn't want anything to do with. After almost a year of working together, he got enough money and connections that he could start getting into the narcotics game. He tried to coerce me into joining him, and after I refused enough times, he tried blackmailing me. He even went as far as threatening my family, which I just ignored."

"You didn't care about your damn family?" I asked in shock.

Shawn shrugged. "Sure I did, but not enough to get blackmailed into joining a drug ring. Besides, he just blew up their cars and houses, planted drugs on some, and lightly injured others; nobody died. He knew that if he actually killed them, I'd kill him. Moving forward, the point where he slipped up was after I had just fallen in love with you. When he started threatening you... I sort of snapped. I stabbed him four times in the stomach and pushed him out of a window. He saw that as a betrayal, which is why he's trying to get pay back." He finished.

I sat in shocked silence; attempting to absorb the information he just gave me. "You threw him out a fucking window!? But he looked great!" I finally exclaimed, failing completely at taking in the proper information.

Shawn's eyes darkened in irritation. "You didn't happen to do something else on that Skype with him, did you? I mean, with how great he looks." He asked. Fuck, I shouldn't have pulled the pin on that grenade.

"Don't worry Shawn, you're still the prettiest." I said sarcastically.

"Damn right I'm the fucking prettiest." He grumbled.

I tried processing the information again. "So... you were a hitman? As a teen?"

"Nobody suspects kids." He said with a shrug. Yeah, and that wasn't the only... adult thing he'd done either.

I thought for a moment. "... Did you two ever...?" I trailed off hesitantly.

"Fuck no! You couldn't have paid me to touch that sleazy bastard!" He protested loudly.

I held up my hands in surrender. "Sorry, sorry, I was just wondering." I said. "I mean, it's not too farfetched, right?" I asked, trying to justify my first question.

Shawn looked me in the eye. "I might have slept around in the past, but trust me, now I'm completely Jakesexual."

I frowned. "...Right." I said uncomfortably. "...So, uh, what now?" I asked in an attempt to move to a different subject.

"Find out what the hell he blew up." Shawn replied, standing up.

I stood up next to him. "Let's see if the news has covered anything yet." I suggested.

"Right." Shawn agreed, stepping towards the door.

"Oh, and Shawn?" I called. He stopped and turned to look at me. "...Thanks for telling me about your life and shit." I said awkwardly, avoiding eye contact.

He looked surprised for a moment, then smiled genuinely. "You're welcome Jakey." He said.

After we stood in awkward silence for a long enough, I cleared my throat uncomfortably. "Alright, let's go downstairs." I said, walking towards the door.

Shawn's arm stopped me from going any further. "Wait a minute, you can't expect me to let you go with just that." He chuckled.

"Actually, that's exactly what I expect." I snapped back. Couldn't I just thank him without him trying to jump me!?

He scoffed. "Sorry Jake, but this is the perfect opportunity to collect the first part of our new deal, don't you think?" He asked, stepping forward until I was forced back against a wall.

I blanched. He wanted me to kiss him voluntarily. Augh, why the fucking hell did I make that dumb deal in the first place!?... Ugh, obviously because he threatened to kill someone, as per usual. I pushed against his chest. "Come one Shawn, something just got blown up- it's not the time for this!" I protested.

"I disagree, I think it's the perfect time for this." He said, hardly budging despite my pushing.

"Can't I just thank you without you trying to make out with me!?" I exclaimed, frustrated.

"Nope." He replied simply with a smug grin on his face. What a fucking dick!

I took a deep breath to calm myself. If I didn't do it, then we wouldn't be able to move on to more important things, like whatever Smiles fucking blew up. All I needed to do was touch my lips to his, that was all. It was no big deal, it wasn't like kissing was a symbol of affection, and it wasn't like he was a fucking killer, and it wasn't like- Oh, what the fuck, it was messed up shit no matter how I tried to put it! I then realized that Shawn was smirking at my troubled expression. I glared at him. "You're a fucking sadist, you know that?"

His smirk expanded. "Only for you, Jakey." He crooned, leaning closer. "It isn't that hard, just touch your lips to mine and it'll be over."

"Easy for you to say." I sighed. After a few moments of awkwardly trying to avoid eye contact, I groaned. "Fucking fine! Just stop looking giving me fucking bedroom eyes!"

"Well we are technically in a-" I cut Shawn's smart-assery off by giving him a really quick chaste peck on the lips.

"There, now let's watch the damn news." I grumbled. I was trying to sound cool and nonchalant, but I knew that my face was probably bright red.

Shawn blinked in surprise. "That didn't fucking count! I wasn't expecting it!" He objected.

"Bullshit! You've been waiting for me to do it for the last couple minutes!" I countered. I then noticed a small amount of color on Shawn's cheeks. "Are... are you fucking blushing?"

He glared at me in response. "You caught me off guard." He said. When he noticed my likely red face, he smirked. "And you're one to talk; your face looks like a fucking tomato... a cute fucking tomato." He growled, pulling my cheek roughly.

I slapped his hand away. "Let's go watch the news!" I said loudly, walking out of my room door. Shawn followed.

When we reached the living room, Shawn and I took a seat on the couch across from the TV. I picked up the remote from the coffee table and flipped the channel to the local news.

"-Authorities are still trying to determine the source of the explosion- but the fireworks above suggest that this was an act of terrorism." A female news anchor announced seriously. "This school has also been subjected to a recent series of murders. And while the authorities originally believed the sole culprit was a former student named Kyle Wolice, who was guilty of the murder of Teresa Reese, this explosion proves that there could be another mastermind behind these attacks. Which leaves the sinister questions of; who did it? How many are there? Is this the work of a terrorist group? Is it safe to remain-"

Shawn turned the television off. I glanced over at him to see that he was wearing a thoughtful expression. I, on the other hand, was shocked beyond belief; Smiles blew up the entire fucking high school?! And, as if it was even a surprise by now, I was directly connected to it?!

"Jake, what did he say to you exactly? Before he set off the explosions?" Shawn asked inquisitively.

"Uh... 'enjoy the fireworks'." I replied. I thought for a moment. "Other than to send us a message and show how cool he was, why do you think that he decided to blow it up?" I asked.

Shawn scoffed. "That's just it, I think that was the only reason. That flashy bastard would blow up a fire hydrant if he thought it'd make him look badass. The school was just... a bigger and more... impressive target. It also directly affects our daily lives so I guess that's a plus for him too." Shawn explained.

"Oh yeah, we can't go to school now..." I muttered, apparently not connecting the dots between a blown up school and not having to go to school.

Shawn groaned. "I changed my school schedule for nothing!" He griped. Of course that was what he was most concerned about.

"...What the hell do we do now?" I asked. "I mean concerning Smiles- we're obviously not going back to school anytime soon."

"Well, we can stop calling him 'Smiles' for one thing." Shawn grumbled irritably. "Why the hell do you have to give everyone nicknames anyways?" He asked angrily. Damn, what the hell was with his relentless campaign against nicknames?

I gave him a deadpan look. "What, you want your old nickname of Shitty Shawn back or something?" I asked.

Shawn frowned in annoyance. "No, just don't give other people nicknames." He demanded.

"Okay then, what's Smile's real name?" I asked in exasperation.

"Bobby." Shawn replied. That classy guy's name was Bobby? Fuckin Bobby?

"... Yeah, I'm going to keep calling him Smiles." I said. Did every damn murderer have an unfitting and nonthreatening name?

Shawn glowered at me silently. Was he ever going to let this the fuck go!?

"His name is unfitting as hell! Who the hell would be scared of a murderer called Bobby anyways? Or Jade!? At least Shawn doesn't sound like a damn redneck or jewel!" I vented in frustration.

Shawn smirked proudly. "You think my name is fitting?" He asked, tone almost egotistical. Did his ego need to be stroked all the time?

"Sure." I replied. "Now, what's the plan with Smiles?" I prodded. We needed to get back on the topic of our lives being in danger and our school getting blown up.

"Find him. Break and enter. Kill him. Be out of danger." He stated. "Oh, and make sweet love afterwards." He added nonchalantly. Wow... what a concise and foolproof plan.

"Alright, how do we find him?" I asked doubtfully.

"I know some people that owe me a few favors whom I can ask. Also, with how big he's apparently gotten in the crime game, he shouldn't be too hard to find as long as we get the right leads." Shawn explained.

Huh, so he did seem to know what he was talking about. "Okay, then what do we do once we find him?" I asked.

"Like I said; I'll break into wherever he lives, and then brutally slaughter him." He said.

Okay, maybe that part was a bit more unplanned... "Doesn't he have body guards or something? And a security system? And won't he be waiting for you?" I berated.

"Hm, probably, but it's nothing I haven't dealt with before." He replied.

"Uh, okay, but isn't he the one with some sort of elaborate plan right now? It sounds pretty fucking stupid to just run in and try to kill him." I pointed out. Smiles even talked about how me staying alive was going to force him to bend his plans, which meant he already had a plan. "He seems to be bent on revenge, so maybe a bit more caution is needed." I said.

Shawn thought a moment. "Alright, good point. What's your suggestion?" He asked.

I blinked in surprise. Wow, he'd never really asked for my opinion before- especially when it came to life-and-death-situations. "If he has some sort of plan, we might want to figure it out first before we come up with our plan." I said. I was also against killing Smiles, but I figured that was better to discuss another time.

Shawn nodded. "And because you scored over a seven, we don't have to worry about you being killed before then." He mused. After small silence, he cracked a smile. " Jake, I'm really glad that I met you." He sighed sincerely.

Whoa, that came out of nowhere. "Uh, thanks." I said monotonously.

After an awkwardly long silence, Shawn spoke up again. "Why don't we go back to your room and try and get at least a bit of sleep tonight." He suggested.

"Y-yeah, sounds good." I said, getting up from the couch. Shawn headed up first. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion; what the hell was that? That whole exchange seemed pretty out of character for both us. Now that I thought about, in the past few days we'd had some pretty out of character exchanges... Like we were actually beginning to mutually trust and confide in each other or some shit. I shuddered; that was too fucking weird. Maybe I was just super tired and overthinking things. Yeah...that had to be it.
