The fair around them went soundless, so quiet that Raghad had to move her head left to right to make certain if tribesmen were still around them. The visitors did not pay attention to the trading, their eyes did not gaze at the striking garments that gleamed under the winter sun. They stared ahead, no, not at Faris who, by Allah, was a sight to behold, but rather towards an individual who dared to cause a commotion in Faris's presence.

Raghad made an attempt to stand beside her spouse, but Faris pushed her behind him yet once again. She surveyed as the man, Abdulaziz who had once accused Badr of being a murderer the one to kill his brother Ali, being held by two other tribesmen. Just like the small crowd around them, Raghad was incapable of comprehending the man's unfathomable actions.

Unexpectedly, the man was unshackled from the tribesmen's hold, with that he marched like a beast towards Faris and drew out his sword. Raghad gasped and unconsciously spread her fingers on the rigid muscles of his back to fortify her heart. Why was this man foolish enough to strike at Faris? What had caused him to make his way to Faris, the leader of this tribe, her spouse with blood red eyes?

Those vicious eyes did not glower at Faris, they looked at something beyond him. Those eyes reminded her of death, of frozen blood on a moonless night and those eyes glared at her. In a blink of an eye, the man leaped forward like a hungry wolf ready to tear limbs apart. One moment she stood behind Faris the other a force so swift and powerful pushed at her abdomen with such might that Raghad fell back on her hands with a speed that her veil fell leaving her face bare to the world and tiny stones ripped her skin.

With a gasp, she looked up in time to see that Faris was the one who had pushed her to shield her from the sword that made its way to her. Raghad watched entranced, as if the man before her had uttered a spell on her, a spell that captivated her, stole her breath and sealed it in a glass jar. Ya Allah, if words could do justice if her eyes could write what she witnessed. Faris stood before the sword that was meant for her without terror, without a moment's hesitation.

He possessed the speed of a serpent, it baffled her that a man so tall, so broad could move with such elegance with such lethal beauty. Raghad understood that moment as to why he was entitled the knight of knights. Faris dodged the blade without any difficulty, she saw it in Faris's movements that he endeavored to not slaughter Abdulaziz. Every time Abdulaziz lifted his sword the knight would move or push him back with his large hands.

"What on earth is the matter with you?" Demanded a cold voice, a voice Raghad knew would melt her insides if it was directed towards her.

"If you, ya Sheikh do not wish to avenge my brother then I will kill her. I will kill the Rashideen." Abdulaziz barked causing a loud gasp to hiss pass her lips and she sprang to her feet.

"If you do not halt this moment, by Allah, you shall regret it." Faris threatened as he held Abdulaziz's wrist in a vicious grip. The man pushed at Faris's chest, but it was in vain. "You believe you can execute her? You think I will permit you a moment to breathe once your sword pierces her skin?" Faris growled in a low voice that only she and Abdulaziz could hear.

"Her traitor of a brother took mine from me. You ponder ya Faris that I shall hold back merely because you stand before me?" Abdulaziz hissed trying to boot Faris in the abdominal.

Faris lifted the elbow of his left hand and struck Abdulaziz in the face. Raghad swallowed as the man jerked back as blood spluttered from his broken nose. Without wasting another moment Faris charged forward, the wind twirled his robe as he snatched the sword from Abdulaziz's hand and threw it away, livid. "You have traversed past your boundaries, Abdulaziz. How dare you raise your voice in front of your sheikh? How dare you lift that sword in front of Faris? You ponder committing this will bring Ali back?"

"Yes, it will bring him back," Faris shook his head at the reply. "I do not care who stands before me. I will terminate her. By Allah, I will."

"Very well," abruptly Faris let go of Abdulaziz's hand. "Proceed, kill the Rashideen." His large hand then seized the man by the neck and with a swift movement, Abdulaziz fell next to Raghad's feet. Her blood turned cold when her unwanted spouse drew out his own sword and flung it so that the weapon landed next to Abdulaziz with a loud thud.

The bride took a step back shell-shocked. Her wide eyes gaped at her spouse as if he was a specter. He permitted the man to slit her throat and savor her blood for a crime she was not accountable for. She knew Faris was ruthless, but this was barbaric. The bride's fingers enfolded around the fabric of her gown and she took another step back quivering.

"Rise, Abdulaziz. I have provided you with what you desire. You yearned to avenge Ali, now rise, grab my sword and eliminate the Rashideen." Faris roared, petrifying the crowd. The knights around them took a step closer to Faris when they heard those words. The men were muddled as to how their leader could mutter such foul verdicts.

The pebble stones beneath Raghad's feet trembled. They wished to rise and wail their agony that Faris's monstrous words had triggered. It was then for the first time since Raghad was named Faris's spouse did the mighty sun permit the clouds to shield its eyes from the beast it thought to be human. The wind ceased, it stopped wholly as if it didn't exist as if it lived inside Raghad's lungs, deprived of air.

"Rise!" Faris bellowed and took a step forward causing a single drop of tear to trickle down Raghad's eye. She had seen men yell, she had seen Badr bark his orders to his knights, but this, by Allah, was the most horrifying sound she had ever heard. Faris's voice, that deep rumble clotted her blood in her veins. It sounded like a lion who had just lifted his massive head to display its supremacy, a lion Raghad dreaded, a lion who an hour ago had caused her heart to flutter.

When the man did not move Faris marched up to them, bend down and swathed his lean, sturdy fingers around Abdulaziz's kandoora and elevated him up ruthlessly. "Look at the Rashideen," his other hand clutched the prisoner's chin and tilted it towards Raghad. "She stands before you, grasp your sword and drive it through her heart. Avenge Ali." He snarled, his voice leisurely, ominous. The knight stepped back then thrust his sword in his hands, waiting for Abdulaziz to make a move.

Before seconds could tick before the wind could breathe Abdulaziz hauled up Faris's sword and with a roar, he moved the weapon towards Raghad at a lightning speed. Her doe-like eyes did not stare into Abdulaziz's incensed ones, those petrified eyes looked into dark, gloomy ones. Raghad should have shrieked, she should have moved away from the blade that was inches away from her waiting to savor her blood. But, she did not.

A searing pain shot through her left shoulder and Raghad doubled over in agony. However, soon her crumbling world held its final pieces as the imp in front of her vanished. An awful crunching sound caused her to lift her eyes to see Faris throw the man on the ground and torment Abdulaziz in a way no men in this tribe had ever envisioned. She watched as the knight's large fist connected with Abdulaziz's jaw and blood oozed from the wounds.

"You come here, in my tribe stand before me and you dare to test me?" The animal in front of her shouted. His headdress fell the hair that brushed against his shoulders swayed with every blow he targeted towards the sinner. "My tribe. My men. My woman!"

Suddenly men from the crowd brave enough charged in and held Faris, the knight of knights, by the shoulders. However, they failed when Faris turned his head to glare at them for a few seconds then resumed his torture. "Shiekh, ya Sheikh stop you are killing him." A familiar voice yelled but Raghad paid no heed to it at all for what she saw that moment was a man ravenous for blood. If she thought she was terrified of him before she did not know if she could breathe in front of him ever again.

"Faris, ya Faris stop." Another familiar voice barked followed by Adel's form who held Faris by the torso and with inhuman strength pulled him off the unconscious Abdulaziz. "Take the fool away before Faris kills him." His next words were targeted to the other two who had attempted to tame Faris as Adel dragged the brute a few feet away.

Raghad thought he would free himself from Adel's clutch and charge towards Abdulaziz again, however, Faris took a deep breath shut his eyes and turned his back to her and the unconscious man. Her cold fingers drenched themselves in her warm blood snaking through the lines of her skin painting it. The pain that coursed through her veins was clouded from the tremor she had witnessed, her damp wide eyes fluttered as she gaped at Faris. Raghad's naïve heart wanted him to guide her, to soothe her, to rebuke her but the man merely spoke with Adel in a harsh voice. His words did not reach her, and her trembling heart wept for she was isolated, befuddled and afraid.

Raghad took a step towards Faris who did not face her, she needed to see those inky eyes to drink in his strength as he was the only familiar face in this tribe but to her astonishment, he shook his head and stormed away. Another warm tear cascaded down her right eye as the bride stood there, cold and bleeding while she watched his form disappear leaving her to the cruel world.

Out of nowhere, a tender touch draped around her shoulders, Raghad sniffed and looked to her right. A sob sounded from her lips when Shouq's eyes clashed with hers and Raghad's defensive wall shattered leaving her defeated and alone.
