I open my eyes but quickly close it back because it is too bright. I blink a couple of time adjusting to the brightness. Once my eyes are adjusted I look around and all I see around me is white and I seem to be on a bed. I tried to lift my head but immediately fell back on the bed. My head felt like it was hit with a hammer. My head is pounding moreover I am having a headache. I look around as much as I could and figured out that I am in a hospital. I mentally slap myself in the face of course I am in the hospital the whole white color should have given it away.

Then I heard the door opening so I turn my head in the direction of the door. It is a guy that is about middle age with brown hair and kind face who I am guessing is a doctor because he is wearing a white lab coat. He look up from his clipboard to me and see that I am awake he smiles brightly at me. "You're awake Miss Collins. That's good" he said while jotting something down on the clipboard. "Where am I? Why am I here? What happened to me?" I ask him anxiously. "One question at a time" he said while he raises his hand in a surrender manner. He seems to be the laid back type of doctor and not the strict doctors that follow the rules 100% which I am grateful to have him other than the strict doctors.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when he introduces himself. "My name is Dr. Anthony Stark but you can call me Tony. I will be your doctor until you are discharged from the hospital. You were brought here at Madeline Hospital two days ago. You were brought here unconscious because of an injury at the back of your head and a couple of bruises and scraps but fortunately it was not a serious injury. You were able to heal with a bit of rest" he explained. No wonder my head feels like it got it by a hammer but I could not remember what happen for me to get all this injury. The last thing I remember was I just finish working at my office and was about to go to Scar's house after that it is all blank. He must have seen my confused face because he explained further.

"I am guessing you do not remember what happen to you before you were brought here" he said and I nodded telling him he is right. "I am not surprise with a blow to your head like the one you got I am surprise you did not get amnesia you got lucky" he said in a cheerful voice.

I paled.

I could have had amnesia and forgotten everything about myself moreover the people I care about. I sent a prayer of thanks to the gods for not making me have amnesia. The Doctor or should I say Tony continued his explanation. "You apparently got kidnapped by someone and tortured though not as bad as your friend who is still unconscious moreover nearly died but was brought here in time to save her" he said in a somewhat relief tone. Scar I thought and there were flashes of images in my head about what happened that I forgot. I gasp when I remember most of it. My head is pounding and hurting remembering something.

I am clutching my head when Tony see that I am in pain he quickly went to my side and ask me to take the pill that is in his hand with a glass of water that was at the bedside table. I took the pills and swallow it all in one gulp with a mouthful of water. After a few minutes later my headache slowly disappears and I am able to focus again. "Are you okay?" Tony asks in a worried tone. I just nodded not able to speak properly yet. "That is good. I know you have more questions and there is a police officer here that will explain everything that had happened and also asks you a few questions. He will answer your entire question. I will call him now if you want" he asks. "Yes" I muttered my voice still not fully recover. "Okay. Wait for a few minutes while I call him to come here" he said while walking to door. Once he got out of the room he closed the door behind him.

Once he close the door I started trying to remember everything starting from the last thing I recall and what happened next but it is frustratingly fuzzy. I am only able to recall a few images of Scar getting tortured by some guy wearing black clothes anything other than that is fuzzy and I get a migraine trying to remember so I stop trying for now seeing as it will be useless and wait for the police officer to arrive. He will know some of the answer to my questions. A few tears escape my eyes when I remembered what Tony told me about Scar nearly dying and would have died if the ambulance got to the hospital a few minutes later. I only had to wait for a few more minutes when the police officer arrive knocking on the door asking for permission to come in which I said yes for him to come in. Once he has my permission to come in he open the door and greeted me with a warm smile and a good afternoon.

I look at him closely because he looks really familiar but I could not place where I have met him before. Then I think back to my collage days then I remember how I know him. "Aren't you-" he interrupted me he must have seen on my expression that I remembered him. "Yes I am Tobais Scarlett's ex boyfriend from college" he said it all very calmly. I just gawk at him. I know that they separated on a mutual agreement but there has to be some sort of resentment because it was Scar who wanted to break up with him but there was no ounce of resentment in his voice. I never did understand why she broke up with him. He was a nice good looking guy not much of a romantic but he did not forget any occasion like her birthday, and their anniversary. Scar was very vague with her answer as to why she wanted to break it of with him. She just told me that she did not feel the sparks with him anymore and that she was certain they were not destine to be together, that they should meet knew people.

He just patiently waited as I got out of my shock of meeting my best friend's ex boyfriend to start talking. "I know it is shocking to meet me here but I need to know how much you remember about you and Scarlett's kidnapping" he ask me in a professional voice. I manage to tell him everything that I remember right down to how Scar got tortured. A shiver went down my spine when I was describing what they did to Scar. I cried half way through recalling what happened. Tobais was very patient with me and waited until I calm down then ask me to continue so I did. By the time I finish explaining to him what happen he is just nodding his head and writing something on his notepad.

"Well now that you have answered my question I believe you have some questions to ask me?" he asks me expectantly. Again I nodded my head. "I will try to answer your questions but the questions that are confidential unfortunately I will not be able to answer. I am sorry" he explained. For the hundredth time to day I nodded my head in understanding. "Okay then fire away" with a bit if humor in his voice that caught me of guard a little bit because he was so serious since he first started talking. "Okay. When did the police find Scar and I?" is my first question for him because I want to know how long I was unconscious for. "We found you guys on the night of 25th of February which was two days ago" he answered checking his watch. Okay I was not unconscious for long. Then I ask my second question "how did the police saved us". He hesitated a little bit and answered vaguely. "All you need to know is that we got you and Scar out safely and that Marcus is within our custody". Okay I guess that was a confidential answer.

Then I ask him my last question the one I have been dying to know. "How did the police find the location?" as far as I know all mine and Scar's electronic gadgets that could have a tracking device were taken and destroyed. "Ah! You can thank Scarlett for that" he smiles. I look at him with a confused face. How is Scar involved in the police finding out the location? He laughs which made his face look much younger and answered my unspoken question. "It was her brilliant idea to put a small tracking device behind your ear that is not noticeable unless you know it is there" he explains with a little smirk on his face. My jaw drop I could not believe it so I quickly check at the back of my ear to see if I can feel anything. Apparently what he said was true because I can feel this very little bump behind my ear and if I did not know about it I would not have notice it.

I am speechless how did Scar put this tracking device on me without me knowing about it. Now that I am thinking about it when we were still kidnapped she was calm and told me that not all hope is lost. This must have what she was talking about. I voice out my question to him. "Scarlett said that she put it on you when you were asleep" he answered. "But why did Scar have to do that. If she told me about it then I would have put it on. Was she scared that I would make a fuss about wearing it?" I said to Tobias. Tobais shook his head. "No. It is not that she is afraid you would not put it on. She does not want you know about the tracking device because she knows if you get kidnapped they will torture you until you answered their question truthfully. So incase they ask you if you have any tracking device on your body you would not know anything and they would not find out about the tracking device" he explain further.

Again my jaw drop. I could not believe Scar thought so far ahead for my sake. A few tears escape my eyes. I truly am lucky to have a friend like her who thinks so much about my safety that she would have done just about anything to keep me safe. Then I remember that Tobais is still with me so I look at him and ask "Did she come to talk to you about this?" He shook his head again "No she talked to my partner Daniel. He is the one who told me all this". "So Scar does not know about you being a police officer" I ask him. "No" he answered briefly. "Okay. I did not know wanted to be a police officer I thought you wanted to be an engineer" I said trying to change the subject so it would not be awkward between us.

"Yes I did want to be an engineer but when I took the course it felt boring for me so I switch. A friend of mine told me to try being a police that it is fun so I tried it. I found out I like saving innocent people from danger so I decided to stick to this career" he explain to me truthfully. Wow I thought he really is a nice guy. You can not find many guys like him nowadays. I wonder...

"I am sorry if this is personal but are in a relationship right now?" I ask curious to know. He stiffened a bit then relaxes. "No I am not in a relationship right now. I do not really have the time to go dating as I am quite busy with my job" he said without emotion. His carefree attitude gone I must have hit a nerve. "Sorry I should not have asked you about that. It was inconsiderate of me" I apologies to him hoping he would be a little less tense. It worked his shoulder relax. "It is okay. It is just I get a bit lonely sometime I guess" he told me with a hint of sadness in his voice. "We can hang out when ever you're free or feeling lonely. You know as friends" I offer him. He thought about it for a moment then he smiles genuinely at me. "I would like that" his voice does not have anymore sadness.

"Can I ask you another personal question? You do not have to answer if you do not want to. I am just curious to know" I told him quickly. He hesitated while thinking about something. After a moment he nodded his head allowing me to ask my question. "Do you still have feelings for Scarlett" I ask in one breath looking at him anticipating his answer. I so wanted to know if he still has feelings for Scar and if he does I can help hook them up again. He is seriously a good candidate for a boyfriend and Scar needs some boy attention in her life. He seems to be caught of guard with the question. He had that deer caught in a headlight look on his face. I was giddy this could mean he still harbour some feelings for Scar even though it has been years since they last saw each other. This is good news I can totally exploit this. "I-" he was about to answer when he got interrupted by a knock on the door.

I cleared my throat and said "who is it?" "It is me Tony your doctor I have some good news may I come in?" Tony asks. I look at Tobais and he gave a nod so I told Tony that he could come in. Tony opens the door and when he sees Tobais he said "I hope I did not interrupt anything". "No it is okay you did not interrupt anything important" I reassure him. "What is the good news you were saying just now" I got straight to the point of why he is here. "Oh yes! The good news. I thought you would like to know because it concerns your friend Miss Scarlett Jones that was admitted here with you" he explains. My heart thudded in my chest and I saw from the corner of my eyes that Tobais whole body stiffen when Tony said Scar's name. "Did something happen to her" I ask worried. He must have seen my worried face and quickly assured me. "It is okay. Nothing bad happen to her. The opposite actually she is responding well with what medicine we gave her and she is awake right now asking for to see you".

I wanted to update this chapter yesterday because I manage to finish it yesterday but the internet at my dad's house has a low signal. I can use Facebook and YouTube but when I tried wattpad it wouldn't work. I nearly smack my computer in frustration.

Anyway I hope you enjoy reading this chapter and the next one will be updated either on Sunday of next weekend. It depends if I am going anywhere this weekend.
