Chapter 18: Reunion

Scarlett P.O.V

I'm still in shock when I see her face properly as I have been trying to look for her these past month and now she just suddenly appeared in front of me when I least expected it. Sapphire also looks at me with surprise when she recognize me and look like a deer caught in headlights.

"Wh-where have you been?" I ask her, my voice shaking a little from the emotion that is going through me right now after seeing my missing sister after all these years. She just looks at me for a few seconds before she whispers "Scarlett?" "Of course it's me. Who else could I be?" I told her. She just look so shock and honestly she looks a bit scared to see me, like she does not want to meet me.

I look at her waiting for her to answer my question. After a few seconds of silence she said, "you have grown taller than the last time I saw you." "Of course I grew taller it's been years since the last time you saw me," I said trying to keep the anger from my voice. Her face turns sad when I said that and she apologize to me saying, "I know it was wrong of me to just run away from home all those years ago, but I wanted so badly to see the world before I got married."

"But you did get married then got a divorce," I told her. Her face got even sadder when I mention about her getting married. "Lets not talk here. Come and have a drink with me," she said after she looks around as people were looking at us as we are just standing at the same place without moving, so I agree and after we paid for everything, we went to this small coffee shop that was not that far from the grocery store. After enter the coffee shop we choose to seat down at the back of the shop, as it is more quite and peaceful to talk. As a bonus the sofas are very comfortable to sit and relax on.

Once everything is settle and we ordered our drinks I confront her. "Ok. There is nobody else to hear. Explain." She took a deep breath before she began to speak. "I don't know what you guys went through after I ran away and I want you to know that I'm very sorry for causing our parents and you pain." "Then why have you never tried to even contact us all these years," you could hear the hurt in my voice when I spoke. "Believe me. I wanted to but my fear of what mom and dad would say stop me from contacting you guys."

"Fine but you could have contacted me! I would not have told mom about where you are," I countered her. "I don't now. I guess I was to occupied with my marriage and-" I cut her off, "yes your marriage with the famous Ricardo Giovanni." She looks at me with a shock expression. "H-how did you know?" she stammered. "It's a small world and believe it or not your ex-husband is now my boss," I told her.

"Wow! It is a small world. But how do you know that I was married to him? He didn't tell you did he?" she ask with a hint of guilt and sorrow in a her voice. I just look at her weirdly. "No. Of course he didn't tell I found out myself when I check on the Internet about him and to imagine my surprise your name popped up. So I did a little more research and voila! I found and article about you were married to him for about a year then you divorce him for some reason."

Her face just showed sadness and guilt. I was just about to ask her when she asks, "How is he doing right now?" "He's doing good I guess. I don't much because he's has a cold attitude with everyone so its hard to get know him," I answered. "Yes, he does have a cold attitude but deep inside he is a very caring and loving man," she said with a longing sigh.

"Do you still love him?" I ask her. That question has been on my mind since I discovered about their divorce. I look at her expectantly. She looks very troubled but she said, "I-I do still love him but-" she paused. "But what?" I ask her. She looks away from me and suddenly her eyes widened. A look of terror crossing her eyes and as fast as she could she got up grabbing her things dropping a couple of bucks on the table before she said "I'm so sorry! But I need to leave now. Here give me your number."

I just numbly write my number on a tissue paper and Sapphire quickly grabs it. She hugs me and whisper in my ear. "Take care of yourself. I will contact you later and don't tell Ricardo you ever saw me ok." After that she quickly walked away before I could regain my senses.

I just stood there for a minute before I shook my head and groan. I can't believe I just let her walk away like that! After all the searching I did to find her and when I found her in the most unlikely place, I just let her walk away before asking her where she lives and if she is doing ok.

Furthermore, I don't get why she looked so terrified when she saw the clock like she was not suppose to be late for something.

As I thought about it I put also put some cash on the table, grabbing the grocery before walking out of the café, thanking the waitress for her service. As I walk I thought about why she didn't want me to tell my boss that I met her, not that my boss wants to know anyways, as he has threaten me that if I talk about her again to him I will get suspended from work with no pay.

I keep mulling over this as I drive home. Also, I'm confused with what she said. If she still loves him then why divorce him. I can tell my her expression that she still genuinely loves him. I just thought about it until I reach home. I park the car in front of the house the got out of the car making two round trip from the boot of the car to the front door of the house to carry all of the shopping bags.

Once, that is done I switch off the engine and lock the car before making my way to the front door and entering the house and locking it once I'm inside. "I'm home!" I said loudly so that Bethany would know that I'm home. I didn't hear a reply so I just shrugged, she must still be sleeping or engrossed with a programmed in the TV. I put the house and car keys in bowl that is near the door before grabbing all the grocery bags and carrying them to the kitchen to put them where they belong.

It took several minutes before everything was done. I check the clock on the wall and its already time for lunch so I decided to make macaroni and cheese as that is one of my all time favorite food. So got everything that I need before heating the stove. I hum a song that is stuck in my head since I heard it in the car while cooking.

Once all the cooking is done, I set the table for two, and then I walk to the living room as I can hear noises coming from there.

I was not surprise when I see Bethany laying sprawled on the couch watching the TV. I shook my head and loudly told her that lunch is ready so that she can hear me over the noise of the TV. I chuckle when she jumped when I spoke as she is was to engrossed with the TV that she didn't even hear me when I enter the living room. She looks at me sheepishly before getting off the couch and walking to the kitchen. "Thank you for the meal," she said before she eats her food.

I just nodded at her and began to eat my portion of the macaroni. We eat in comfortable silence until Bethany broke the silence with a question. "So what's bothering you on this lovely afternoon." I look at her. I don't know how but she always know when something is bothering me or if I'm upset about something. I smile thinking I how lucky I am to find a friend like her.

"Oh. Its just that something happened when I went shopping for grocery," I replied. The expression she gave me was quite funny that I laugh. "I know something happened but what happened to make you troubled like this," she said. I took a deep breath before I told her, "You will never believe it." "Try me," she challenged. "I met Sapphire when I was looking for vegetables," I told her and to my surprise she choke with her food. I quickly went to her and pat her backs to help her and gave her water once she finishes coughing.

"Are you ok?" I ask her. "Yeah I'm fine but you seriously met your sister today while doing grocery shopping of all things," she replied. I nodded, "I was surprised to. I could not believe my eyes! I thought I was seeing things but when I call my sister's name, the women look up and she was my sister. She didn't look that much different then she did a few years ago. She's just skinnier now compared to before."

"Damn. Then what happen?" she ask eagerly. "Nothing much we talk for a bit until she suddenly had to leave and ask me for my number and told not to tell my boss that I met her before she rush out of the café. I was so shock that I couldn't tell her to wait for a bit. I didn't even get to ask her all the question that I have been meaning to ask her if I got the chance to see her again," I groan to Bethany.

"It's ok. She has your number doesn't she?" Bethany asks. I just nodded my head. "Then I'm she will contact you sooner or later," she assured me. I am not sure if she will ever contact me even though she said she will but I just agree with what Bethany said and continue eating my macaroni until its finish before walking to the sink and washing the plates and utensils.

"Ok! Why not we have a marathon of twilight. I'm sure you need something to do to get rid of your troubles for today and just relax," she suggests. I thought about it for a few seconds and just nod my head as I needed to relax and I have been meaning to watch twilight for a while now. Bethany squeal and got out of her chair running to the living room to no doubt get everything ready for our movie marathon. I just sighed grab her plate and utensils, putting them in the sink to wash it, and then I walk to the living room sitting down on the couch besides Bethany as I wait for the movie to start.

Ricardo P.O.V

I am nervously getting ready for one of the most important day of my life, which is my wedding day. I can't believe I found someone that loves me for who I am and not what I can give to them. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever met and her kindness just makes her beauty even more stunning.

With her long hair as red as blood, her lips as pink as blossom leaf, her smooth fair skin, and my most favorite part about her is her vibrant green eyes, that lights up whenever she is happy or surprise about something. That's why I love to surprise her a lot. She also loves it when I surprise her with little gifts that she uses it to decorate our house.

Before I know it, it is time for me to stand at the altar. I look at myself for the last time in the mirror and after I'm satisfied with how I look, I made my way to the altar. I mess with my tie a bit, as I'm nervous, waiting for my future bride to arrive. "Stop messing the tie. You're going to mess it up," my best friend whisper to me.

I stop touching my tie and put my hands behind trying to control my nervousness. My best friend who is also my best man for my wedding chuckle as before I never thought I would fall in love with anybody and now I'm nervously fidgeting waiting for my bride to arrive. "I never thought this day would arrive. You're one lucky bastard to find someone as kind and gorgeous as her to love and marry you," Andre my best friend whisper to me. I just nodded my head at him as I know how lucky I am to get someone as rare as Sapphire.

To distract my self from being nervous, I look around me at all the flowers that decorate this small church. Our wedding is a small one as it consists of family members and friends only and Sapphire's family is not here as she told me she ran away from home and does not want her parents to know where she is. I did not agree with her but she begged me not to let her parents know so I follow her wish.

As I was thinking about that I heard the music start to indicate that the bride have arrive. I held my breath when I see Sapphire walk down the aisle. She looks breathtaking in her pure white wedding dress that is fitting at her upper body but flowing once it reach her hips and dragging behind her as she walk. Her face is covered with a thin veil that just make her face to be mysteries a bit.

She seriously just took my breath away and as she got closer I can see her eyes watering with unshed tears, that it made me want to cry with joy too but I hold it in as I know if I cry she would definitely cry and that will ruin her makeup.

I held out my left hand when she reaches me at the end of the aisle and she put her small and delicate hands in mine. I wrap my big hand around her small hand and lift her up to the altar to stand in front of the priest.

Everything was a blur for me as I see no one but Sapphire until the priest asks for our vows did I came back to reality.

I took a deep breath before I speak my vows. "From the first day I met you, I somehow knew in my gut that you would be someone precious to me. And I guess I was right since I am now getting married to you. You have shown me what love is and how to love someone. Before you came into my life, I was nothing but a person who is very distant from people and very lonely. But know my life is brighter because you bring light and meaning to my life. You are the most important to me and I will love and cherish you until we draw our last breath."

As I said the last words she started to cry a little. I just smile softly at her while the priest asks her for her vows. Like me she took a deep breath before she began.

"I never thought that I would fall in love so soon but as I got to know you behind the wall you built around yourself, I fell for you. I didn't realize this before but I have been searching for something when I came to the big city and when I met you did I realize that I found what I was searching for. I love you with everything that I am and I will continue to love you until death do us part."

After she finishes her vows a couple of tears escape my eyes, and I just stared at her trying to convey my love towards her with my eyes. I only broke our staring when the priest pronounces us husband and wife and that I can kiss the bride. Finally I thought as I open her thin veil that was covering her face and lower my face to hers and kiss her lips as people clap.

After a minute of kissing her I led her down form the altar and guide her down the aisle to get to the car that will take us to the reception at the hotel that I booked. That whole reception has been like a wonderful dream for me. I did nothing but dance and spend my time with my wife.

I still get so happy every time I think about her being my wife. We enjoy our time laughing with our friends and getting well wishes from my family. Cutting the huge cake is hilarious because as soon as Sapphire cut the cake she shoves the cake to my surprise mouth and covers my face with cake. I guess my face must have been very funny, as Sapphire is laughing so hard that she is clutching her stomach and did not realize that I grab a handful of cake and rub it in her face.

She blinks shock and now it's my turn to laugh at her expression. And that led to us having a cake fight until we were both a mess and our friends' laughs at us while taking pictures. I just smile at them when they take the pictures, as I couldn't be happier right now.

I'm brought out my memory by the sound of a car honking outside of the café that I was relaxing and having a latte. I check the time and it is already so late so I got out of the comfortable chair while grabbing my wallet from my pocket and taking out money and put on the table with the tips before I walk out of the café.

I took a deep breath of fresh air as I walk to my car. As soon as I'm inside the car I drove home. I let out a sigh when I finally reach home and park the car at the garage before switching of the engine and getting out of the car locking it before I enter the house. I am tired today so I decided to eat dinner that go to bed early as I have an important meeting tomorrow morning.

So with that in mind I walk to the kitchen and see that my dinner is already prepared and is ready to eat. I silently thank my maid who comes here everyday to cook my meals and clean the house and usually leaves the house before I get back from work so I only see her in the mornings.

I groan when I smell the aroma of the delicious lasagna that is on the kitchen counter. Without wasting time I quickly grab the fork and knife before I start to eat. The maid makes the most delicious food other than my mother. I was lucky when I got her when I went looking for a maid. I finish the food in no time. After I finish I brought the plate and fork and knife to the sink and washing everything before I walk to the living room to check if everything is in order.

Once I'm satisfied that everything is in place I walk to my room and went straight to the bathroom to have a quick shower before I go to sleep. I felt refresh after showering and brushing my teeth and was about to sit on my queen size bed when I heard the house phone ringing.

I frown, who would call me at this time. I thought about ignoring it but the person who is calling is very persistent as they keep calling. So with a heavy sigh I got out of bed and trudge to the phone, picking it up on the third ring. "What is it!" I snapped to the person on the phone.

"P-please yo-you need to h-help me!" the voice of a panicked women replied and I could have sworn she sounds so familiar until she pleaded "Rick please I need your help."

Everything in me froze when she called me that as only one person in this whole world calls me by that nickname.
