Did he just ask me that?
Did he use to be a freaking member of One Direction?
He couldn't have just asked me if he could kiss me. Especially now of all times.
As I stood there thinking the same thing over and over again I realized Archer was staring at me.
He was waiting for an answer. So, I took a deep breath and gave him one.
"You do realize that the couple who make out in the scary movie always end up dead right?"
Archer let out a short laugh and a mischievous grin formed on his lips.
"So you consider us a couple after just one day, huh? Why Gemma, this is all... so sudden." He said dramatically.
I rolled my eyes at him.
"Did you really just ask me that?" I shook my head when Archer opened his mouth to answer. "Never mind don't answer that. Look, there's something you should probably know that..." I hesitated thinking about what I was just about to say and then decided against it.
I'd rather take it to my grave.
"Never mind."
Archer frowned at that. "Don't do that. I hate when people do that. What were you about to say?"
I shook my head and looked anywhere but at him. "Nothing."
"Gemma."
"Archer." I said, copying his tone but still not looking at him.
"What were you about to say?" He repeated but this time slower, like I had a hard time understanding him the first time.
I huffed in annoyance.
"Ihaven'tkissedanybodybefore." I mumbled quickly.
"What?"
I groaned in frustration.
"I said, I haven't kissed anybody before. There, are you happy now?"
There was no way I was going to look at him now.
I'd be turning nineteen next year if I survived this little shabang that is, and I still hadn't had my first kiss. I'd only had one boyfriend before and sure I had kissed him, but it was only a brief peck on the lips or cheek. He who shall not be named wanted to take it a lot further than what I was ready for and I ended up breaking up with him before things got too carried away between us.
Archer was probably rethinking the whole let me kiss you thing now. I couldn't say that I really blamed him either.
"Gemma look at me." Archer said.
I shook my head. "Why so you can laugh in my face? No thanks."
"I'd never laugh at you...well I probably would, but not about this."
I couldn't help the small smile that formed on my lips.
"Can't you take anything seriously?" I asked, finally gaining the courage to look at him. "We're literally knocking on death's door here."
Archer smirked and shrugged.
"Sure I can, when the situation calls for it."
"And this situation doesn't call for it?" I asked.
Archer pretended to be in deep thought for a few seconds before shaking his head.
"No, I can't say that it does."
"You're impossible." I said through a small nervous laugh.
"Quit trying to change the subject. So, you've never kissed anyone at all? Boy? Girl? Dog? Pillow?"
I shot him a look before answering.
"No, I haven't."
"Hmm... we're going to have to fix that." His voice had taken on that low tone again that had my heart ready to leap out of my chest.
"But first things first." I frowned at Archer as he began to move his hands around and the handcuffs kept clanking against the metal pole.
"What are-"
Before I could finish asking him what he was doing Archer held his hands up and I stared in shock as the handcuffs hung loosely from his finger.
"How did you do that?" I asked still staring at the handcuffs.
Archer waved a little pink bobby pin in front of my face.
"I took this back from Dylan before we split up."
"Huh, who knew you had it in you to actually use that tiny brain of yours." I teased.
Archer rolled his eyes then shoved the bobby pin back in his pocket.
"Ha. Ha. You're hilarious. Now I'm pretty sure we have unfinished business." He said stepping closer, eliminating the small space that had been created between us while he was undoing his handcuffs.
"Um... I'm pretty sure it can wait." I said smiling nervously and trying to step around him. "We should go get Dylan and get out of here." Before I could take another step Archer had grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to him.
"I don't care if the fucking world was ending, if this is my last and only chance to kiss you then I'm going to take advantage of it."
I swallowed hard, my mouth suddenly dry.
"Well, who says I want to kiss you anyway?" I asked.
Who was I kidding? Archer and I both knew that I wanted to kiss him right now. Yes I admit it, go ahead and sign my name to the list. I admit defeat. I couldn't help it.
"So you're saying you don't want to kiss me?" He asked his voice low.
My breath caught in my throat as he reached his hand out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear and then let his hand linger on my cheek.
"N-no?" I said, but it came out as more of a question.
"I think you're lying."
"I'm not."
"Prove it."
"How am I supposed-" But before I could finish my sentence Archer had leaned in and pressed his lips against mine.
My eyes widened in shock and my thoughts were along the lines of Oh my gosh Archer Daniels is kissing me! Ha! Suck it Avery! And then Sure, we're probably about to be turned into human shish kebabs at any moment, but screw it.
My eyes soon fluttered close and I completely forgot about our current situation. You know, the one where we were probably about to die at the hands of a maniac. I reached up and wrapped one arm around his neck pulling him closer and using the other to run my fingers through his hair. He made a sound at the back of his throat that sounded like a cross between a moan and a groan. Either way it had me wanting to turn into a puddle.
The way his lips moved against mine felt amazing and when he traced my bottom lip with his tongue I had a small heart attack. Keep in mind this was my first kiss and I had no idea what I was doing so I just kind of went with the flow and prayed that I didn't end up biting him.
When his hands gripped my hips pulling me against him I knew I had to at least be doing something right and when his tongue entered my mouth I'm pretty sure fireworks exploded in my mouth. It was either that or he had eaten pop rocks.
When I finally pulled away, not because I wanted to, but because my stupid lungs needed air, we were both breathing hard and I'm pretty sure most of it had nothing to do with the fact that we actually needed air.
Archer rested his forehead against mine for a second and closed his eyes.
"So, that happened." I whispered to myself.
"Hmm." Archer hummed, opening his eyes again.
"So how was that for your first kiss?" He asked.
What was that?
Did I see nervousness on his face?
"Unforgettable." I breathed out. I was beginning to understand more and more why girls fell at this guy's feet. His kisses were the equivalent to finding extra french fries at the bottom of your bag.
Romantic, I know.
"Unforgettable good or unforgettable bad?" He still actually looked a little nervous.
I smiled up at him. "Definitely good."
Relief washed over his face. "Good cause I plan on doing it a lot more from now on."
Before I could say anything Archer grabbed my hand and started dragging me toward the subway car exit but as soon as we reached it the door slid shut.
Archer frowned and let go of my hand so he could try and forcefully push the door open.
It didn't work.
Archer hurried over to the side exit and got the same result.
My heart was starting to race again.
We were trapped.
All of sudden the doors that connected and led to the other riding cars opened all at once and I was able to see straight down, all the way to the front of the train.
What I saw made my stomach drop.
"Archer look." I said my voice small.
Archer turned around with a frown as he looked at me, probably wondering why I sounded the way I did. Then his eyes followed my gaze to the front of the train and I could see the color drain from his face.
"Shit."
The subway train was on fire and the flames were quickly making their way towards the back.
Towards us.
