NICOLE'S POV

''Caity, we've got to escape,''I told her.Caity nodded her head. With that, we started planning.

After an hour, we finally planned of how to escape. Caity told me that there was a window, but it was covered with soil and mud. And to get rid of it, 2 people must be working together. All was planned well. We were ready to go. Being here for a long time, Caity knew that her father stayed in his lab for 45 minutes before going out to do other stuff.Since there was a clock on the wall, we knew the time. And as we heard the footsteps going futhur and furthur away from us, we knew that he was going somewhere outside his lab.

Caity and I were sitting on the cold hard floor, our backs facing each other as we tried to untie the ropes.

''1,2,3...Pull!''

I held onto the rope that held Caity's hands together. I mustered all my strength, trying to work out the knots, and after what felt like an eternity, we finally untied each other's ropes. Then, we undid the knots on our feet.

''Caity,come on! Hurry!'' I shouted.

However, Caity was having trouble untying the knot. I rushed over to her and untied the knots. My heart felt as though it was going to explode.

I helped her up as she ran as quickly as possible,leading me towards the dirt-covered ''window''. My breath became heavier as Caity and I used out finger nails to dig the soil out, dirtying our fingernails in the process. Phew'', I heaved a sigh of relief when I realised that the dirt wasnt too hard. Or else, it would take forever to get that out.We did our best, digging continuosly even though my muscles were aching. This was our only chance to escape. We can't afford to stop.

After a long time, our efforts were paid off. The dirt has been dug out. I unlockd the latch and with Caity's help, we opened the window. I peered down. We were on the second floor.

''Caity, you go first.'' I instructed her.

She hesitated as she peered down the window.''B..but, I..I have a phobia o..of heights.''she stammered as tears sprung to her eyes.

I patted her shoulder. Her head was hung low as she sobbed.

''Caity,look at me.''

Caity sniffed, before looking into my eyes.

''U have to believe in yourself. You can do it.''

Caity shook her head, while she kept muttering that she couldn't do it.

Time was running out. I frantically jumped out off the window and saw Caity peering down at me.

''Caity, come on. I will catch you.'' I promised her, as I held my arms up. Since Caity was much smaller in size compared to me, I could easily catch her.

''u..U promise..?Caity asked nervously.

''I promise,'' I said, smiling at her as i did so.

Caity brought her legs over the window. She closed her eyes as she fell down and I caught her just in time.

''Come on!'' I said.

I held her hand and we ran as fast as possible towards the jungle.
