BETH'S POV

My eyes widened in shock as I entered the room. Caity was in the room with...Nicole, my best friend. The girl I had known for a few years now. The girl who I always have shopping trips with. The girl...who I have now betrayed. "N..Nicole?" I stammered. She quickly looked up and her jaw dropped. "B..Beth?"

Then, suddenly, a loud voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "DO IT NOW!!" Josh shouted.

I took two huge steps towards them. Nicole looked at me with a hurtful expression, tears streaming down her face. "Don't do it..please!" Nicole pleaded. I turned my back to look at Josh. He was impatient and keep looking at his watch. I HAD TO DO THIS. FOR THE MONEY.

I held the metal pole tightly. Caity looked at me sadly, with her head hung low. She sobbed. My heart shattered into a million pieces. It was his daughter for goodness sake! How could he kill her?

"BETH, WE DONT HAVE TIME!!" Josh "roared"

When Josh rages, its frightening and unbearable.

I had to do this, for the money and for my mum!

I raised the metal pole above my head and smashed it on Caity's head. "NOOO!" Nicole yelled. My heart swelled. Tears sprung to my eyes as I smashed the metal pole on Caity again. Blood spluttered out of her mouth and her skull was slightly dented. Regret rushed through my veins as I glanced at Caity's lifeless body. Nicole glared at me. " YOU TRAITOR! I HATE YOU SO MUCH. " She screamed and started sobbing. Josh pat my shoulder and whispered in my ear,"good job." before going over to Nicole.

"SHUT UP AND STOP CRYING!!" Josh demanded, before kicking her in the knee. She yelped in pain as she stopped crying, taking in short breaths.

"Beth, prepare the kitchen table." Josh instructed me.

"Sure thing, Boss." I answered back, before walking towards the kitchen.

When I walked out, tears started streaming down my face. I sank to my knees and started sobbing.

"Beth, are you okay?" Someone asked. I slowly looked up. It was the teenage boy, Ben, I suppose.

I wiped my tears away and said" I'm okay."

I gave him a faint smile and walked away, when suddenly, he grabbed my arm.

He stared at me in the eyes. "Beth, can we..talk for a while? Pretty please?" He asked.

"Erm..sure. But I need to set up the kitchen table first." I replied.

" I will help you."he said.

After we finished setting up the table, Ben led me to the nearby table at the side of the swimming pool. By now, I was feeling so confused. He didnt even know me..what could he possibly want to talk to me about?

He sat down on the bench and I sat opposite him.

"W..well. I have to ask you a question." He said, before sighing," Who is that girl?"

"Caity?" I asked, feeling uneasy.

"No..the other one."

"Nicole?"

"Yeah..is she.. Nicole Rose..Johnson?" He questioned, not looking at me in the eye.

Tears sprung to my eyes.

"Yes., she is. She has been my best friend for years but now..I have betrayed her. Why'd you ask?" Curiosity got the best of me.

"B..beth, I think that Nicole's my sister."

"Nicole told me she didnt have any siblings."

"Beth, please don't let Josh kill Nicole. Please." He then broke down in tears.

"I..I will." I said, still feeling confused. Wild thoughts raced through my mind.

Ben was Nicole's sister?

Why did Nicole tell me she didnt have any siblings?

Can I trust Ben?

Is he telling the truth?

"Please trust me, Beth." He said, before running out of the lab.

I had to ask Nicole about this, whether she forgives me or not. I had to.

I ran to the lab, but she wasn't there,

I frantically ran to the kitchen. She was resting her head on the table, her eyes closed and a glass of beer was on the table.

"Beth, please don't let Josh kill Nicole, please."

Ben's words played at the back of my mind. Somehow, I trusted him.

I quickly ran towards Nicole. She reeked of alcohol. She was..drunk.

How did this happen?

What did Josh do?

Suddenly, a wave of rage swept through me. I clenched my fists, and walked out of the kitchen, opening the door of the lab. Josh was in there, puffing a cigarette.

Then he looked at me. "Oh, hey Beth."

I took in deep breaths and tried to stay calm.

I forced a smile and asked him nicely. "Sir, what did you do to Nicole?"

" Well, I simply gave her alcohol and she told me where Alison is! She studies at Starz Academy. Once I get hold of Alison, the end is coming for our dear sweet Nicole." He said, before letting out an evil laugh.

I clenched my fists, but said sweetly, " That's great, sir."before I walked out of the lab.

I couldn't let Nicole die. No.
