I followed the direction that Jay gave me. I don't look back at all. With my heart full with worry and nervousness, I enter the last room.

Faces turned to me but I wasn't paying attention to that. All I was thinking about was my mate who- in a last attempt to protect the pack and myself, went all the way to the remains of what used to be the Blue Bloods pack. He probably didn't think than an attack would come soon or he would not have gone.

"Luna," one of the many guards surrounding me calls out. "Are you alright?"

"Yes," I reply while nodding. Suddenly, I am dizzy. All I want is my mate here. I am tempted to cry but the faces of my pack member's watch me closely. I have to be strong for them.

"Luna," a young child calls out. "Where is the Alpha?"

I don't want to worry them anymore then they are so I stand up tall and take a deep breath in. "He was in the nearby town, but he is here now."

Relieved sighs escape from many. Glancing around the room, I notice my parents huddling in the corner with other people. They both glance at me before observing me heads to toe. Just to make sure I'm OK I presume.

I then notice Beth with her sister. Savannah seemed oblivious to the danger outside the room which made me comforted. Beth on the other hand was watching me intently as is she was trying to convey a message. She suddenly mouths Rose.

Rose? What about- I suddenly stop right there when I notice she isn't here; and so was Mason.

I turn to the guards around me. "We need to count everyone here. I think they're people still outside."

One of the guards glances at the other. Turning back to me, he answers solemnly. "Luna, we already checked. There are a total of three hundred and forty people in the pack. We only have one hundred and seventy people here."

"We are going out there to get the rest."

"But its war out there Luna and the Beta told us to make sure everyone stays here; especially yourself."

"Well I refuse to sit around while our pack members, old and young, die out there. Now I need three guards to come with me or else I will leave by myself."

Everything was silent afterwards. Everyone was watching me now with looks of admiration and. Even my own parents which I thought was pretty cool because for a second I thought they were going to stare at me in disappointment.

As the silenced continued, I felt myself becoming nervous. What if no one wanted to come with me? I'd have to hold onto my promise even though that scared me now.

Luna, the enemies want you for Brayton. Brayton is only here to kill you. He has no more interest on getting his old members back. He- and everyone he brought along- is here for you and you alone.

I take a startled step backwards. What? Why?

The guard was definitely uncomfortable and so were the rest. He didn't respond immediately but afterwards he did. "You're the Alphas mate. You are a target to everyone outside this pack."

I take a shaky inhale before releasing it. I glanced at everyone here realizing that I had already made up my mind. My parents, Mason's parents, Beth and majority of people were slowly shaking their heads no, telling me that I shouldn't do it. Slowly I turn my head towards the guards glancing at each and every one of them.

"So who's coming with me?"

Beta Jay

I growl loudly when another wolf tries to attack me on the side. I leapt on top of him and bite down on his neck. He tries to growl intimidating but it doesn't work on me. In fact it only angers my wolf more. I bite down hard until he stops breathing and is now still. Throwing the dead wolf to the side, I glance around at the pack.

Suddenly I hear a loud growl behind me. Turning around I am faced with none other than Brayton. His dark brown wolf was obviously bigger than mine but I know I have an advantage. I am faster and have been training since early childhood. He hasn't even done anything but growl at me. Watching him closely, I notice he holds a proud look in his eyes. He thinks he's going to win.

Baring his canines at me, he lunges just as I side step him. Turning around quickly I see him lunge again for my neck. I step to the side growling viciously at him. As we begin circling I notice another wolf come from behind him.

I bare my canines at the wolves in front of me. Just as I lunge at the closest two more wolves appear. Growling loudly I look at Brayton who looks too proud. He couldn't even fight his own battles.

Slowly walking backwards, I access my chances at hurting the four wolves now surrounding. It doesn't look too well.

When one leaps at me I roll to the side and sink my canines into the closest ones neck. The wolf instantly begins squirming and when I hear its heartbeat begin to slow I stop in time to dodge the third wolf. Suddenly one of the wolves clench onto my hind leg. Holding in the whimper I wanted to let out, I kick backwards knocking whoever has my leg in their jaw away.

Turning around I scratch the nearest wolf on the face tearing open flesh. The wolf lets out a howl of pain just as I feel a bigger wolf-Brayton- on top of me. His canines are near my neck and I suddenly know that he's got me in a fatal position. One wrong move and he'll be tearing my neck apart.

I remember teaching the kids to never get into this position or else it was the end of their life. Too bad I didn't take my own advice.

His canines sink into my neck just as another pair sink into my uninjured hind leg. Letting out a howl of pain I know this is the end for me. My eyes are closing as I suddenly feel too tired to move. The life is being drained from me and I'll I can do is wait.

"Jay!" My eyes snap open just when I hear that voice. No, it can't be...

Annabel leave! Staring into the eyes of my Luna I try to get her to leave because she's in danger. With all the energy left inside of me, I growl at the guards who were supposed to keep her safe.

I feel Brayton climb off of me and growl at the new party. His main focus was on Annabel and Annabel alone. Get her away from here! I state towards the guards.

With her were four guards and they were now all trying to get her back inside but she wasn't having it. When I try t stand, I am shamefully taken down again; one wolf on top and another tearing out my fur.

I growl in warning but that just sends a message to Brayton because he takes off, his intentions pretty damn clear. Annabel!

All guards shift at the same time leaving Annabel who didn't shift. Damn it Annabel Leave NOW!

She looks at me with tears glistening in her eyes. But you're dying...

Leave! She flinches as if I had actually hit her before turning around and running straight for the door. Just when she is near it though, two wolves pour out from behind the house blocking her entrance. Feeling rage inside of me, I stand up despite the major blood loss just as the wolf on top of me is thrown off. The one tearing up my flesh is removed as well and just as I turn around to see my savior I watch as the rogues throat is sliced open.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I see that my savior is none other than Dan. I nod at him and let him take care of the rogue that was on top of me. I am taken out of my moment of relief when I hear the cry of my Luna.

Spinning around, I see a wolf on top of her. More wolves keep piling out and soon that guards that were with Annabel are fighting for their lives. Rushing towards them, I suddenly freeze up. In fact, everyone in the area freezes when the angry growl from my Alpha reaches their ears. I see Brayton even still for a moment before he is now charging straight to Annabel.

Before he reaches her though, I see a blur of movement and the wolves surrounding Annabel are now lying dead. Thaddeus stands tall with his canines bared in between his mate and Brayton. I take a deep breath before moving around the two and go to Annabel who is shaking in obvious fear.

Nudging her side with my nose, I tilt my head towards the front door of the Alphas house. As she gets up, I take notice of our pack members tearing into the fleshes of rogues as they bleed to death. Satisfaction blooms inside me but thinking of the deaths on our side have me sagging my shoulders in despair. Just then a howl full of anguish and pain tears through the night, a sign that means someone lost their mate.

With one last glance at the war in front of me, I suddenly collapse on the steps in front of the house.

Mole

I run as fast as I can away from all of the violence. I didn't want this to happen I just didn't.

I go straight towards the location he sent me to. I was finally going to see my parents again. A small smile escaped from me at the thought of seeing them again. How would they look and are they excited to see me again?

Coming to a slow stop, I notice the footsteps behind me. Turning around, a hand is suddenly wrapped around my neck squeezing the daylights out of me.

"See I knew you weren't going to succeed at leaving without anyone following you," the man in front of me now says letting go of my neck, "which is why I followed you here."

"I thought you said you were going to meet me here?" I asked taking a ragged breath in.

"I'm here now," he replies taking a step backwards with his arms stretched apart.

"Where are they now?" I question nervously.

"Don't worry kiddo; nothing happened to them," he says, "yet."

My eyes widen in fear. "That wasn't the deal!"

"I know but kiddo, I want you to make this even more interesting."

I watch him curiously. How? He doesn't need to hear my words of curiosity because he is already explaining.

Pulling out something from his back pocket, I stumble away when I see it. "What do you want me to do with that?" I ask quietly staring down at the weapon.

"Two silver bullets," he says holding up two fingers, "one for the Alpha and one for the Luna."

Shaking my head I try and distance myself from him. He already knows what I am trying to do and before I could blink he has his hand fisting my hair and slamming me to the ground.

He motions to something behind me. I hear a gasp and a cry and before I turn around I know who they belong too. I see the faces of my parents. My mom is bawling her eyes out begging for him to release me while my dad is bleeding from his head. Tears attack my vision and soon I am bawling as well.

"It's either the Alpha and Luna or your parents' kiddo," he mumbles against my temple. "Choose wisely."

When Jay collapses I see Thaddeus turn his head briefly just as Brayton attacks him with full out fury.

I am afraid of the outcome of the fight which is why I turn away with a heart full of hope and focus on Jay.

I feel my hope diminish when I see the blood everywhere. Jay was losing way too much blood and I need a doctor soon. I glance around the bloodied area and noticed that everyone has stopped fighting except for Thaddeus and Brayton.

I caught the eye of one of the guards who I beckoned forward. He saw Jay who was still in his wolf form and rushed towards us with a few more people in tow. I was relieved when I saw a pack doctor amongst them. "We need to get him inside Luna," she states.

The people around me each help with picking up Jay. I lead them towards the only surface big enough to accompany Jays wolf; the dining table.

I cringe of how Thaddeus might react when he finds out. Thinking of Thaddeus I bolt out of the room and towards my mate, knowing Jay is in good hands.

My breath is knocked out of me when I see him lying there completely still. I hear no beat from his heart. I know right then and there that he is dead. Somewhere inside of me though, I feel no emotion towards his death. Brayton knew what he was going up against when he came here but he still tried to go up against the most feared pack in the country.

I remove my gaze from Braytons torn up body and towards my mate who stood a few good feet away from me. He was trying to figure out how I might react to all of this. His dark eyes scanned my face as I scanned every inch of him ignoring his very large anatomy. He put some clothes on that someone hands him from the side.

He was hurt no doubt. As he placed his clothes on, I could see the bloody rips and bruises all over him. He wasn't dead though which was all I wished for. After he is clothed he walks the last few steps towards me and wraps me up in his arms exhaling in relief. I relished in the feel of his body so close to me and the rhythm of his beautiful heartbeat.

"I am-" I was cut off by the sound of something clocking. Thaddeus turned his head and growled at whoever he was staring at. When I try to get out from behind him that only seemed to anger him more.

"So you're the mole?" His words made me pale. Here was the person that betrayed the pack and I couldn't seem him or her because of my mates Viking sized body.

"I'm not the only one."

That voice. I found it hard to breathe all of a sudden. No, it can't be, I thought.

Thaddeus stops trying to shield me from her and moves slightly away. He gives me enough space to see her but is still situated in front of me.

"Rose," I breathe out.

-

"Why?" I demand. I ignore the gun she is pointing towards us. Rose has a sad look plastered on her face. Her hands are shaking as she is holding the weapon.

"It's complicated," she replied quietly.

"How is what complicated?!" You betrayed this pack!"

"He had my parents. How was I suppose to ignore that?!"

A flicker of surprise crosses my face. I take a step forwards as she explodes in tears but is quickly pulled back by Thaddeus. He gives me a stern look before shoving me behind him. I don't know what happens next but I guess Thaddeus mind links some people because in a matter of seconds Rose is surrounded.

"She won't hurt anyone Thaddeus," I say weakly but I know deep down she will.

"I'm sorry Annabel," she retorts sadly just as she points the gun at me and pulls the trigger twice.

Everything happens in slow motion afterwards. Frozen on the spot, I watch as she mouths sorry. I close my eyes and wait for the pain. I don't feel it though. I open my eyes in time to see my mate collapse in front of me, eyes trained on me.

But then they close.
