It seemed like the longer I was in the hotel the better it seemed to get.
The boys and girls had obviously been separated and wouldn't be sharing rooms.
We were put into groups of four per room and Megan and I were sharing a room with two other girls named Dawn and Becca.
I recalled speaking to Becca a few times throughout high school but couldn't bring myself to even recognize Dawn's face which was odd because she just seemed to draw attention.
She had shoulder length auburn hair and stunning green eyes that I'd definitely consider killing for. Becca on the other hand had less striking features compared to Dawn but she was still gorgeous with brown hair and eyes to match.
"Oh my gosh this is so exciting! Aren't you guys excited we're rooming together? It's going to be so much fun! It'll be just like a big sleepover! We can stay up and talk about boys and eat tons of junk food and watch Netflix all night." Becca squealed and I mean that literally, before she quickly grabbed the room key from a stunned looking Mr.Frazier and unlocked the door to our room and skipped inside.
Dawn shot me a sideways glance like she was trying to figure out if I had just witnessed what she had.
"That girl obviously needs to lay off all the red bull." Megan muttered before following Becca inside.
Dawn stared after Megan for a few seconds before blinking a few times and then followed her in.
I simply shook my head and was about to follow suit when a hand grabbed my arm, stopping me.
I turned, expecting it to be Archer but was disappointed to find Cade instead.
I instantly shot him a glare and snatched my arm away.
"What do you want?" I demanded.
Cade was looking at me with those big blue eyes of his, one of which was blackened thanks to Archer, and he kind of looked like a sad beaten puppy which I figured was what he was aiming for.
Well too bad for him because I had a thing for green eyes.
Cade rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"Gemma I wanted to apologize for earlier. I don't know what happened."
"Well I thought it was pretty obvious what happened." I murmured.
I watched as the tips of Cade's ears turned pink.
Hmm.
"I'm really sorry. I didn't mean for it to happen. Just... please don't hate me okay?" Cade pleaded and my anger was momentarily replaced with confusion.
"Why do you care whether I hate you or not?" I asked genuinely confused.
This time it was Cade's face that turned pink.
"I...I just don't want you to think badly of me. I've never ever hit a girl in my life."
"So I was the first? I'm honored." I replied dryly.
For a second Cade's mouth twitched like he was trying to suppress a grin but as soon as he noticed the look I was sending his way it vanished.
Cade cleared his throat and shoved his hands in his back pockets.
"You can hit me if you want." Cade said sounding hopeful.
I blinked and frowned at him.
"What?"
"Go ahead. Hit me. I deserve a lot worse for what-"
I punched him.
"Shit!" Cade yelled and cupped his nose causing a lot of the students who were still waiting to get their rooms to look over at us.
"Oh God. I can't see." Cade said blinking furiously.
I couldn't help the small laugh that escaped.
Cade stopped and peered down at me over his hand which was still cupping his nose and gave me a small smile.
"Feel better now?" He asked.
"I do actually. You should let me use your face as a punching bag more often."
Cade huffed and then proceeded to stare at me until it got awkward.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"I didn't think you'd do it."
I cocked my head to one side.
"What, hit you?"
"Yeah, I mean I know I offered but jeez... Is it bleeding?" He took his hand away and looked down at his nose crossed eyed and I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.
I wasn't supposed to be laughing! Cade was a woman beater.
Okay maybe woman beater was a little excessive but he did slap me and I shouldn't have been talking to him anyway given his past with Archer.
I sighed heavily and crossed my arms.
"Look, Cade how about we just forget the whole thing ever happened? If you don't talk about it and I don't talk about it then we can both just forget about it and then we won't have a reason to talk to each other."
A pained expression crossed his face before quickly vanishing.
"I really am sorry Gemma. I don't regret much but I'll regret this for the rest of my life."
The rest of his life? That was bit dramatic. He was laying it on pretty thick wasn't he?
Cade stared at me for a moment longer before he turned and made his way back down the hallway with the rest of the students waiting for their rooms.
I watched Cade's retreating figure for a few more moments before grabbing my suitcase and headed inside the room and closed the door quietly behind me.
What was I suppose to make of that?
"Hey Gemma could you come here for a second?" Megan's voice called out, bringing me from my thoughts.
I walked farther into the room where I found Megan and Dawn both standing with their backs to me.
I took a minute to appreciate the room. There were two large beds with white sheets and red and yellow pillows pushed up against one wall, while a dark wooden desk and flat screen TV were on the other. Another door, which I assumed led to the bathroom was placed near the beds and another which was probably a closet sat next to it. A night stand that sat between the two beds held a sharp looking white and silver lamp which cast a soft glow around the room. There was even a small cherry wood table with matching chairs with red and yellow cushions placed in one corner.
I was really liking Hawaii so far.
"What's up?" I asked curiously as I came to stand beside them.
"That's what's up." Megan said as she pointed to Becca who was standing a few feet away with what looked like a make up bag clutched in her hands.
I frowned and looked back at Megan.
"I don't understand. What's the problem?"
Before Megan could answer Becca squealed again and rushed up to her and latched onto her wrist.
"We're going to do makeovers and Megan's my partner. You can do Dawn's makeup can't you Gemma?" Becca asked with wide, excited eyes.
"Ugh-"
"Great!" Becca smiled triumphantly before dragging Megan over to a set of pillows she had set up on the floor.
As Becca was dragging Megan pass she leaned back.
"Get it off me!" she hissed in my ear.
I simply gave her an apologetic smile and shrugged.
There was no way I was letting Becca near my face with that much energy and a mascara brush.
That was an accident just waiting to happen.
I glanced over at Dawn who was looking at Becca dig around in her makeup bag with a small grimace on her face.
"I'm sure if we make a run for it now we might be able to get away." Dawn muttered quietly.
I laughed and shook my head.
"As tempting as that sounds I can't. That blond over there is my best friend and unfortunately that means I can't leave her."
Dawn pouted.
"That means we're stuck with the energizer bunny then?"
"Yep."
I grabbed Dawn's arm and started to pull her forward.
"Now let's get this over with."
