I don't really know how to confront Jacob. I've never been one to be shy. Well, my real personality wasn't. It's just weird.

His file was categorized as "classified," if that wasn't suspicious enough. No, the next twenty pages were shocking. Jacob Smith was an undercover (and don't forget underage) agent for the CIA. Thank goodness I have an incredibly awesome and heinous best friend who can find out everything there is to know about this kid. He was recruited at a younger age, mostly due to the face that his father is the head of the CIA and his mother an active CIA agent. He's seventeen! That is illegal in so many ways-I've seen his résumé and he shouldn't be participating in such dangerous activities. Jacob is one of those super spies that defeat the bad guys or something.

I just so happen to be the bad guy.

But still, this is unreal. I thought this only happened in books or movies? Not real life. There are undercover spies and agents but I doubt they have fancy smancy espionage missions. Dude, he could be the next Alex Rider, except that he is from a fictional book.

I think I'm creating a hole in my carpet with all the pacing I'm doing.

To act normal or not to act normal?

What is normal?

Obviously, I want to know if I'm his next target. He could just be hiding here from enemies who want to kill him! Perhaps he is sick of the undercover life and wants to be normal? Those are my only reasons that I can think of.

I know I won't be able to find out if I don't get to know him more. I don't have enough time left here with only eight days left until I leave; I wish I could stay longer. I shake my head immediately after I think that, why would I want to stay here any longer? I've been dying to leave here, haven't I? The only thing I will here is the delicious food and amazing campus, but the people here suck (except the janitor and lunch ladies).

I hurry to my first class, dreading the opportunity of seeing Jacob. I knew he was suspicious! Now, I just don't know what to do.

"After you," Jacob bows as he opens the class door for me. Thanks Jacob, now it just makes me like you even more. You seem like a normal gentleman.

"So..." Jacob drawls the word out as he gazes at me. I still find it unnerving for anyone to stare at me; it's like they know something I don't.

"Thanks." I mutter.

"No problem princess." He winks. Since when did we get onto the nickname basis?

That must have shown on my face, for he ruffles my hair and says, "Oh, not princess?"

My hand reaches out to rearrange my wig, when I stop myself. I threw away my wig. I woud have burned it, but that would have smelled really bad.

"I like the hair. It suits you," Jacob compliments my lack of dull, brown hair.

"Thanks," I mutter once again. He really does look normal, but now that I've pored over his documents, I can see the discreet details. I noticed it before, but I never would have guessed it had anything to do with espionage. I'm still trying to process Jacob, this flirty and happy-go-lucky guy, could kill someone in cold blood if he had to.

I guess no one would really think a nerd like me could do the same too.

"Hello?' He waves his hand in front of my face. "Do you do that often?" I grab his wrist and stare at his hands; his palm and knuckles were those of an experienced fighter. I would know, but father and brothers looked just like his.

"Uh..." Jacob yanks his hand back uncomfortably. "I used to do a lot of martial arts for years." He explains to me.

"Really?" I look at him. "That's cool."

He blinks and frowns. "You don't find it gross that my hands are callused and scarred?" Is he insecure? I mean I don't think girls care as long as his face is gorgeous?

"I used to do martial arts too." I admit honestly, showing him the light calluses I had too. However, they aren't as noticeable anymore since I stopped most of my martial arts because I didn't want to have "man hands." It was a girlish thought back then. Still, I continued kickboxing and other fighting.

"Oh wow," he seems to look at me with a new appreciation. "You're really something Kerr."

"Um, okay. Thanks." I shrug. I guess I could always talk to him and try to get information out of him.

I hesitate, but I finally ask, "Jacob, have you seen the forest behind the school?"

"Isn't that restricted from students?"

"When has that let anything stop you?" I smile.

"We have a daredevil here, huh? That doesn't seem to be something a nerd would be saying," He smirks.

"What, so you down to explore, or are you going to wuss out?" I grumble, miffed at him calling me a nerd.

"Whoa there, I momentarily forgot you could be so heartless," he laughs. "Let's go."

"Wait, now? We have class now." I point out.

"Let's. Ditch." He gives a full grin, showing his two dimples. He has cute dimples.

"What a bad student. This is like your third day of school." I tsk at him.

"Eh, school, smool. Who cares about one day of ditching?" He leans back on his chair and puts his feet on the table.

I happen to like my first class, but I gather my stuff and start leaving. "Well, are you going or what?" I look back at him teasingly.

He stares at me with a slack-jawed expression. Why? I cannot fanthom. Maybe the sun shining on my back creates a glowing light around me or something. I can be attractive minus the dorky clothes, braids, and glasses. Still, it's just light.

The teacher barely looks at us as we get up and leave. I think he has given up on us. Great teacher huh?

"I'll meet you at the pool in ten minutes. Change and bring the stuff you think you will need." I wave and skip back to my dorm.

I change swiftly and weigh my choices. Should I dress and act normally? If I am his target, then he already knows who I am and how I look. There shouldn't be a difference, but if I am not even his target then it should also not really matter. I choose to play safe and keep my glasses, but put my hair in a bun rather than braids. I dress in jeggings and an oversized black crewneck with some random band I dont know.

I head towards the pool, spotting Jacob.

"Why the pool?" He is confused.

"We can't just jump the fence or walk right into the forest without getting caught. They have cameras everywhere. Sadly, the fences are all too tall and electrified. That's why we go through the pool because there's a secret entrance in the girl's bathroom. How? I don't know." I explain.

"Lead the way," he motions and follows me. I am amused he doesn't mind we are going to the girl's bathroom. And I'm being a trickster by making him go through here rather than the actual secret entrance. The actual one doesn't involve any climbing or flexibility. It's just a pathway that happens to not have any cameras at all, but he doesn't need to know that.

------

"You're kidding," he stares at the ground below us.

"Nope," I grin. The first thing we needed to do was climb onto the roof of the girl's bathroom. Easy and done. Then, we needed to lower ourselves onto the wired brick wall that divided the school and the forest. This was the part where there were no barbs sticking out of the fence. No risks whatsover as long as you had very good balance. if you were a mediocre tight roper, it would be easy. Take a few steps traveling across the fence and then leap down to safety on the other side. It's ony a ten feet drop and the only risk is electrocution or a spraned ankle. Otherwise, I think Jacob can handle it.

"Is this the only way?" He gulps.I cannot tell if he is truly nervous or not, I'm not completely fluent in body lanauge.

"That I know of." I nod. "It's perfectly fine. No one has died or been electrocuted. You have good balance right? And you can leap off from a tall fence?"

"I guess.." He sighs.

"See? You're fine. Here I'll go first," I offer.

"No, I will go first in case something happens. I can catch you then." He shoots my offer down. How chilvalrous of him.

"Alright, but be careful!" I add a nervous tremble in my voice.

"I got this. Don't worry." He reassures me. He steps onto the fence daintly for someone who's big. With an ease of a professional, he walks across the fence and then drops from the height, rolling out of the fall in a clean somersault.

"Whoa! How did you do that? Are you like a ninja or something?" I gasp in amazement. It's my turn now. I carefully walk across and then drop myself down into a crouch. I don't do any fancy tricks like he does.

"No, I just learned a lot from martial arts training," he says modestly.

"You should teach me! I can't even do a cartwheel!" Lie. I know that at least he's not a normal guy and isn't actually hiding it.

He pulls me behind a tree, "Sssh." His eyes shift left and right, searching the perimeters. A couple minutes later, a security guard passes by us on his patrol shift. I didn't even hear or notice him.

"How?" I gape at him. "Just how did you hear that? That can't be from martial arts!"

"I have had training that helps my senses develop with acuteness and accuracy." He starts walking deep into the woods. "Well, are we going to explore or not?"

I feel as though this is going to be difficult cracking Jacob. I need to do it soon. He's not hiding his secrets, but he's certainly not going to reveal it openly.
