"Wait just a minute. You mean to tell me, that both Sami and Jafar are working with the FBI!?" Rami asked in disbelief, and Emma nodded, taking a bite from a cookie.
"Yes!"
"And Issam and Laith, Jamaal's two right hand men are actually undercover agents?!"
Emma swung her legs back and forth, grinning cheerfully.
"Yup!"
Rami folded his arms over his chest.
"Woah."
"I know! Can you believe how awesome Jafar is!?" Emma exclaimed, and when both men just stared at her, she reddened slightly. "Uh and of course Sami too."
"Of course." Rami said with a slight grin, before he leaned back in his chair thoughtfully.
"Explain something to me though," Omar said reaching for another cookie, "So Jafar was undercover as well? Meaning he was working for Jamaal secretly?"
Emma shook her head.
"No, Jafar hasn't even met Jamaal. His job was to just keep watch over us and make sure nothing happened."
"Well he did his job wonderfully." Rami said sarcastically, and Emma glared at him.
"It wasn't his fault! And he feels guilty enough! You better not make him feel worse!" she warned, and he shook his head.
"Okay I won't. But why are we here? Why can't we go home?"
"Well like I told you before, they need Jamaal to actually try something against Muhsin before they can arrest him, so they are doing the whole plan tonight, and actually Jamaal should have been at the apartment already."
Rami's face paled, and he stood abruptly.
"What!? Why!?"
She shrugged.
"I guess to take Muhsin."
"You don't seem too concerned." Omar said.
"Of course I am. But I trust Jafar, and he assured me that everyone will be safe."
"Everyone!? What does that mean everyone!?" Rami demanded. "Are Rana and your sisters okay?!"
"They should be. Jafar left to go bring them here actually."
Rami let out a sigh of relief.
"Well that's good. For a second I was about to have a panic attack." He distractedly started to twirl his wedding ring around his finger. "So after they get Jamaal to try to kill Muhsin, they will arrest him and his little gang, and then everything will be okay?"
Emma nodded.
"I hope so InshaAllah."
They were silent for a few minutes, absently eating cookies, before the sound of footsteps caused them to look up, and as Maria and Sami came into the room, Emma jumped off the counter.
"Emma!" Maria exclaimed.
"Maria!" Emma exclaimed, and as the two sisters embraced, Maria put her hands on Emma's face.
"Are you okay?! Oh my God I'm so happy to see you!"
Emma laughed, and kissed her sister on the cheek.
"I'm happy to see you too!"
"We were so worried about you! Alhamdulillah you are safe!"
Emma smiled.
"Jafar saved me Maria. He was like my knight in shining sunglasses." Emma whispered in her sister's ear.
"Sunglasses?" Maria whispered back in amusement.
"Well he wasn't wearing armor!" she exclaimed, and as they both looked over at Jafar, they hurriedly turned back around when he turned to look at them.
"Where is Rana?" Rami asked.
"I'm here!" Rana exclaimed as she came into the room, Sami behind her, and Rami bolted from his seat, pushed Rana against the wall, and kissed her.
"Aw come on! Stop it! Stop it now!" Sami protested, throwing his arms over his face, and after another couple of seconds Rami let go of her face with a laugh.
"Hey Sami, she's my wife!"
"Yes but she's my baby sister, and I don't want to see that." He said sternly, and Rami shook his head in amusement.
"Well when you have a wife you will understand."
Sami snorted.
"Yeah, like that's going to happen."
Rami laughed, before turning back towards Rana, putting his hands on her hips.
"Are you okay? I haven't been able to stop thinking about you."
"Aw habibi." She went to kiss him again, but after her brother shot her a glare, she transferred her lips to his cheek. "But I have to tell you something!" she glanced over at Jafar. "Jafar is it okay if I tell Rami?"
He nodded, his jaw clenching slightly.
"Yes."
"Ali is the traitor." She said, and Rami's jaw dropped.
"Are you serious!? Ya Allah how did you know!?"
"We were at the top of the stairs, and we heard Jamaal telling one of his men to take his hood off, and he was all being a jerk about it, saying that he and Jenna already knew each other, and then when the dude did take his hood off, Jenna gasped and was like 'Ali!?' and then we were like 'oh my god!' and then Ali was like 'I'm so sorry Jenna' and she was like 'oh my god!' and then Jamaal started laughing and was like 'betrayed by your own cousin. Ouch. Or is it cousin in law?' and then Jenna was like 'shut up' and then he was like 'wow feisty!' and then Jenna stomped out of the apartment, and we came here." She said in a rushed breath, and Rami laughed.
"Breathe honeybee." He said before wrapping an arm around her waist, and pulling her against him.
"Wait, so if Ali is the traitor what does that mean? What exactly did this traitor do?" Jafar asked, looking at Rami.
"Um, well considering he was the only one of Jamaal's men who had access to the house, he probably was the one who blew it up and started the fire. And he was probably the one who told Jamaal that Hud and Jenna were going to Egypt. And that they were getting married in the first place. He probably was also the one who set up all of those roses with Jenna's picture on them. Don't ask." He said when Rana looked at him questioningly.
"Oh my God!" Jafar exclaimed. "Ali?! My brother! How!? I...what!?" he stammered out, and Sami put a hand on his shoulder grimly.
"I didn't know it was Ali. I didn't even know there was a traitor, but if I had known I certainly would have knocked some sense into him!"
"Wait I'm confused. Ali, Hudayfah's own cousin, was betraying him to this freak that is causing chaos in our lives!?" Maria exclaimed, and there was a brief silence before eventually Rami nodded.
"I guess so."
"I can't believe this." Jafar said, slumping slightly against the wall. "Why would he do this?! I don't understand!"
"Maybe Jamaal offered him money? I know that Hudayfah had been giving him loans for the past few months." Rami said, and Jafar's eyes widened.
"What!? Why?!"
"He lost his job, he probably needed it for rent and student loans and stuff."
Jafar's eyes widened even more.
"Are you serious?! He lost his job?! He didn't tell me any of this! Why wouldn't he tell his own brother?! I would have helped him!"
Rami shrugged.
"Maybe he was too ashamed." He said gently, and Jafar shook his head.
"I just can't believe this. It's horrible!" he turned to look at Sami in horror.
"He's going to go to prison isn't he?!"
Sami winced, before nodding.
"Yeah, he is."
Jafar slumped into one of the chairs, staring at the kitchen table in shock. After five minutes of solid silence had passed, Emma sat in the chair next to him.
"Jafar? Can I get you anything?" she asked gently, and he shook his head, briefly flickering his eyes to her face.
"Um, no thanks." He said a bit hoarsely. "Actually I think I need to be alone. I'll catch up with you guys later." He said quietly, and as he left the room, the others exchanged glances.
"There is no chance for saving Ali?" Rami asked Sami, and he shook his head.
"Unfortunately no. He might get a lighter sentence," he shrugged, "but no."

"Home sweet home!" Jamaal exclaimed as he unlocked his apartment door, his hand gripped securely around Jenna's wrist.
"Let go of me." She hissed, yanking her arm out of his grasp, and stepping away from him as they stepped inside, Muhsin and the others behind them, and he chuckled softly.
"Maybe you and Emma aren't so different! She's feisty too!"
Jenna rolled her eyes.
The whole ride over here, Jamaal hadn't slackened his hold even the slightest, and had jabbered on nonstop as if they were old friends. The entire time she was seriously contemplating just jumping out of the moving vehicle, but then she thought about Hudayfah, and remained in her seat.
"Where is Hudayfah?" she asked as he pulled her out of the hallway, and he looked down at her in slight irritation.
"Really? No 'wow Jamaal what a nice place!' or 'thanks for the ride!'" he exclaimed sarcastically, and she glared at him.
"Let me see him."
"You really want to see him?" he asked, and as she nodded, he gave a slight smile. "Very well, follow me." He walked a few paces down the hallway, Jenna at his heels, and as he came to a halt in front of a door where two very tall men stood, he opened it, motioning towards the room with a hand. "He's in there."
She paused for a few seconds, trying to calm her beating heart, and as she entered the room, one of the guards that had been standing outside the door, gripped her arm, and for a second she was glad for his hold, for as her gaze fell on Hudayfah, she almost lost her balance.
"Hudayfah! Oh my God! Hudayfah!" she whispered staring wide eyed at where her husband lay slumped on the ground, bound and gagged. "What did you do to him?!" She yelled at Jamaal, and as she lunged at him, he stepped swiftly out of the way, waving a hand so the man would restrain her again.
"Calm down love, he's just sleeping. Hopefully." He said with a grin.
"You monster!" she screamed, and he rolled his eyes.
"A bit dramatic aren't we? I have some things to attend to, put her in the room next door." He said towards the guard, before leaving, and the man started to pull Jenna out of the room.
"No! No please! Please let me be with him!" she cried, and he ignored her, pushing her inside one of the rooms. "PLEASE!" she shouted, and he hurried to step inside the room, closing the door behind him.
"Be quiet!" he hissed. "If you keep drawing attention to yourself, he will come back. Hudayfah is fine okay! He was just playing the part for Jamaal! If you calm down, I'll let Hudayfah come in here for a few minutes and I will have Jamaal distracted. Okay? But you have to calm down!"
"W...what?" she stammered, wiping her eyes.
"I'm Issam." He said, and recognition dawned on her.
"Oh."
"Are you calm?" he asked, and after a few other shuddering breaths, she nodded.
"Yes."
"Okay good. I'll go get him." He said stepping out, and she sat anxiously on the bed, wringing her hands. After the longest three minutes of her life, the door opened, and as Hudayfah stepped into the room, she gasped, jumping up from her seat, and within seconds, they were locked in a tight embrace.
"Oh my God. Oh Hudayfah." She exclaimed, and he gathered her against his chest as she began to sob.
"Hey darling. Shh it's okay." When her response was to cry harder, he leaned his forehead against hers. "Jenna darling, I'm here. Please don't cry! Habibti Jenna please." He pleaded, and she swallowed hard, trying to compose herself.
"I missed you. I missed you so much Hudayfah." She whispered, trying to pull him closer to her, and as he lost his balance, they stumbled slightly, and he caught her, sitting them both down on the bed, before cupping her face in his hands, and kissing her deeply. A couple of minutes later, he pulled away from her, both of them breathing heavily.
"Okay my brain is protesting the lack of oxygen right now." He murmured with a laugh, and she laughed as well, before her mouth dropped in horror as her eyes roved over his face.
"Oh my God! What happened?!" she exclaimed. His left eye had a black bruise ringing the entirety of it, he had a bandage on his nose as if it was broken, and his bottom lip looked like it had recently been split open. As she gently touched his eye, he winced slightly.
"Um, Jamaal didn't take it very well when he found out Emma was gone."
"Oh Hudayfah. Habibi I'm so sorry." She whispered, and he tightened his hold on her, kissing first her cheeks, then her forehead, and finally her lips again. "Doesn't it hurt your lip to kiss me?" she asked, and he laughed slightly.
"I don't care." He paused to kiss her again. "I'm just so happy to see you."
"Me too. You were all I could think about." She said tearfully, and he smiled.
"You consumed my every thought. It was like half of my heart was gone. I am so proud of you." He whispered, brushing away a few of her tears. "I'm so proud of how strong you are being."
"I haven't been strong. I've been so scared Hudayfah."
He shook his head, putting his hands on her arms.
"I can't even imagine how scary all of this has been for you, but being strong doesn't mean you can't be scared. It's about doing what you have to do despite the fear. And here you are, willing to do the right thing no matter how scary it gets."
She gave him a watery smile.
"Thank you." She put her hands on his chest. "I was so worried about you."
"And I was worried about you. It killed me to be away from you." He said pulling her onto his lap, and she laid her head down on his shoulder.
"Hudayfah?"
"Hmm?"
"Just hold me."
He chuckled softly.
"That, I can do." He said, before leaning back against the wall, and wrapping his arms around her.
"You know Ali is the traitor right?" she asked a few seconds later, and he winced slightly before nodding.
"Yeah I found out. I should have known though."
"How could you have possibly known? Never would any of us have expected your own flesh and blood to betray you."
"Well i guess there are surprise every day." He said with a bitter laugh. "But I should have known it was him, because about two months ago he stopped asking for loans. I should have inquired into it, seen if he had gotten another job, or at least be suspicious where he was getting his money from now." He shook his head. "But I was too consumed with you."
"You cannot blame yourself. What he did was entirely his own fault." She said, and he nodded.
"I know. But let's not talk about that now." He said quietly, tightening his hold on her. She clutched onto his shirt, stretching slightly to kiss his cheek.
"Did he treat you horribly?"
He winced slightly.
"In the beginning yeah. But eventually Issam started to sneak in and give me extra food and water and help me to the bathroom and such. Did Laith tell you what was going to happen today?"
She nodded.
"Yes."
"I don't like it. I don't like it at all. I think it's too dangerous to be putting you and Muhsin into his trap." He sighed. "But if this is the only way to get Jamaal out of our lives for good, I don't see any other choice."
They were quiet for a few moments, Jenna listening to his breathing from where she lay on his chest. She pressed herself harder into him, letting the steady beat of his heart soothe her, and after a few minutes, she sat up.
"Hudayfah," she said, brushing his hair back, before she paused, staring into his face, as if trying to memorize every detail, before she brought her hands down to his neck, leaned forward until their foreheads were touching, and swallowed hard.
"I love you." She whispered.
He was silent, staring at her a bit shocked, before his eyes flashed with emotion, and he brought up his own hands to cup her face.
"Oh darling. Oh Jenna. You don't know how that makes my heart soar." He kissed her. "I love you too. I love you so much. I hope you know how much."
She gave a small laugh, wiping at her eyes.
"If you love me even half as much as I love you, then I consider myself the luckiest girl in the world."
He shook his head.
"I'm the lucky one." He smiled a bit sheepishly. "Can you say it again?"
She laughed, allowing him to steal another kiss.
"I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you."

Emma stood hesitantly in the doorway of the balcony holding a tray of food, wondering if she should approach Jafar or not. He had been sitting outside for the past three hours, just staring absently out at the street below, and hadn't even come in for dinner. She felt horrible for what he was going through, and she wished with all of her heart that she could help him somehow. After another few seconds of internal debate, she stepped outside, aware that Rami was watching them like a hawk through the window, and as Jafar heard her footsteps, he looked up briefly, before turning back around.
"Hey." She said quietly, and he nodded slightly.
"Hello."
"I um, brought you dinner." She said placing the tray in front of him.
"That's very kind of you, but I don't think I'll be able to eat."
"You should try a little something. It might make you feel better."
He shook his head.
"I don't think anything will make me feel better."
She took a seat across from him, making sure to leave a distance between them.
"You've been out here for a while. Do you want to talk about it?" she asked, and he sighed.
"I wouldn't know where to begin. My mind is in such a jumble."
She watched him for a few seconds, before she reached into her pocket, and pulled out a penny, extending her hand towards him.
"Here." She said, and he looked at her skeptically.
"What's that for?"
"A penny for your thoughts."
He cracked a small smile, allowing her to drop the coin into his outstretched palm, before he closed his hand around it, resting his fist on his knee.
"I feel like I've failed as an older brother."
She pulled her knees up to her chest, and leaned against the railing.
"What do you mean?"
He ran his hand through his hair, and sighed.
"I didn't know anything was going on with Ali. I didn't know he had lost his job, I didn't know he was getting loans from Hudayfah, and I certainly didn't know that he was involved with Jamaal. Even though he wasn't acting any differently, I should have picked up on it!" he exclaimed in frustration, and as he turned his eyes up to look at her, she felt her heart pang at the sorrow in his face.
"I think you're being too hard on yourself."
He shook his head.
"I deserve it. What kind of brother am I that he couldn't even tell me he was in trouble!?"
"You know what I think?"
"What?"
"I think that you are such a good brother, that he did everything in his power to hide this from you because he didn't want you to be disappointed. I've seen you two together, and he obviously looks up to you."
"Yeah right."
"No I'm serious! Take it from me, I know how hard it is to feel like you've let down your hero."
He regarded her for a few seconds.
"What do you mean?"
She sighed, and gave him a small smile.
"Even though she's never said anything about it before, I've always had this feeling that I've disappointed Jenna because I don't wear the scarf. But it's just something that I struggle with." She shrugged. "One day I want to InshaAllah. I love the Hijab. I love how it looks, I love what it represents in Islam. But I'm just not strong enough not to care how people react to it. I've seen people harass Jenna and Maria, call them names, call them terrorists and yell at them to 'go back home.' And it scares me sometimes to think that that could happen to me. But I've never been able to talk to her about my feelings on this matter because I didn't want to disappoint her."
He didn't say anything, watching her carefully, and she let out another sigh.
"But I know that she still loves me."
"She does love you."
"I know she does. And Ali loves you. He just chose the wrong road to go down, and was probably too ashamed to ask you for help out of it. And now that he will have to face the consequences, he needs you more than ever. This isn't your fault, and it isn't your burden to bear, but you have to decide if he is still going to have his amazing big brother to help him get through this."
He was silent, staring out at the sky again, before he turned back to look at her.
"It hurts though."
"I know," she said softly, "and it probably still will hurt for a while. But you'll get through it. Hey, you jumped through a wall of fire to save me, and you broke me out of Jamaal's little prison! You're pretty much Superman!"
He laughed, before turning the penny around in his hand, staring at it thoughtfully.
"You're right of course."
She grinned.
"I usually am." She said teasingly, and he smiled a full blown smile, causing her heart to beat erratically.
He was so handsome.
"Alright you guys, you've been alone long enough. Get inside Emma!" Rami called through the window, and the two of them laughed.
"Eat," she said as she stood up, "I know you said nothing will make you feel better but still."
He smiled, picking up his fork.
"Thank you for making me feel better Emma."
She blushed slightly.
"It was my pleasure Jafar."
