Clara-

After four years of collage and saving up money I'm finally able to afford the small two story condo I always wanted.

My best friend Jess has been helping me move in for the past few days.

"Since we are finished getting you unpacked, we should go out tonight." Jess said.

"Jess, I've never been to a club before I don't think it's a good idea." I shook my head as I sat on the new black leather sofa I put in the living room, Jess sat beside me.

"Clara you're 21 years old, you need to have fun but you don't uh have to...get drunk."

What Jess said reminded me of my parents. they were killed seven years ago in a head on car accident with a drunk driver, I was the only survivor.

"No," I shook my head, "it's not a good idea. you go, have fun."

"Not unless you go, listen just think about it. I'll call you around 7 okay."

"Okay, see ya."

She walked out the door, I heard her car turn on and drive away.

When I checked my phone it read 4:25 pm.

I had a couple hours so i decided to take a nap. I laid my head on a pillow and laid on the sofa. Once I closed I was Immediately welcome by the surroundings of my dreams.

*the sound of laughter filled the car as we drove.

"Where did ya come from where did ya go, where did ya come from cotton eyed joe!" my dad sang jn his best/worst hillbilly accent.

"You're embarrassing." I laughed.

My mom turned down the radio some. her chocolate brown hair was the same color as mine, only her eyes were brown. my fathers eyes however were emerald green like Mine.

"Mom are we there yet?"

"Almost sweetie. 10 more minutes and we will be there.

We were on the way to a cabin up in the mountains. Here in Vancouver the winter is always snowing and in some parts of the mountains it never stops.

"Dad what's wrong with that car?" I squinted my eyes to get a better look at the swerving car ahead.

"I'm not sure."

"MOM LOOK OUT!" I squealed.*

I sat straight up from my couch. my whole body drenched in sweat.

Most nights since the accident, I always dream of what happened, it's more of a nightmare really.

I was only 14 at the time and still didn't understand the meaning of death, but when I woke up in the hospital with IVs in my arms and a breathing tube down my throat the doctors told me what happened and from then on I understood what death was.

Somehow I had cheated death but my parents perished.

I had no one else to live with, the rest if my family was dead or on the brink of death.

The only person I had to turn to was Jess, we practically grew up together, she was who I lived with when I was released from the hospital, so technically she's more of my sister.

Jess' mom passed away last year to cancer, and her dad left before Jess was born.

I was drawn out of my thoughts by the ringing of my cellphone.

"Hey Jess." I already knew who it was. her Ringtone is 'really don't care' mainly because she doesn't care what other people think of her.

"So have you made up your mind?" I knew she was trying.

"Yes I have. pick me up in an hour." I smiled.

"Awesome. trust me you will love Dejia Vu."

"Okay."

I hung up and put my phone on the charger.

I ran up I my room and picked out a red knee length dress with one long sleeve and the other exposed my shoulder and arm.

I quickly showered and curled my hair and added a light layer of make up.

When I put the dress on I realized it was the first time I was actually going to wear it.

The sound of my door bell dragged me out of my thoughts.

When I opened the door I saw Jess in a short black strapless dress.

I grabbed a black leather jacket and slipped and my silver flats, receiving a weird look from jess.

"What? it gets cold here and I don't like heels."

"You never have. come on we'll take my car."

On the way to the club as I sat in the passenger seat I noticed it was started to snow lightly.

"I can tell you're nervous." Jess said.

"Just a little. I don't know what to expect."

"It's different everytime."

we pulled into the parking lot of a large black building with different color neon lights flashing.

"We're here."

The music was so loud, you could hear it faintly in the parking lot, as we got closer to the building the music became louder.

There was a very tall, masculine, bald man was standing by the door with his arms crossed over his chest. He was wearing a plain black shirt, black pants and black shoes, he also had an ear piece in his ear.

"ID." he huffed.

Jess and I showed the security out IDs.

He opened the door and let us in.

"I don't have a purse so could you hold my license."

"Sure." Jess nodded.

Once we entered the music was so loud you could barley hear our own thoughts.

Jess said something but I couldn't tell what she was saying.

"What?" I yelled.

She came close to my ear.

"I'm going to get a drink, want one?"

"Water."

We were both yelling as if she was across the parking lot.

"Okay, there's a booth over there." I looked over and saw a large booth near the back if the room and started making my way over to it.

As I was walking through the crowd of bodies, I bumped into something, actually it was someone.

The person turned around, and may I add he was quite tall.

"Sorry." I yelled, then lowered my head and walked to the booth and tried to hide my face.

The music wasn't as loud where I was. there weren't any speakers.

"Here you go. what's wrong?"

"I bumped into someone and he look pissed and I'm certain he spilled his drink. I told you this isn't my sort of thing."

"What did he look like?" Jess asked smiling.

"I don't know I didn't see his face I was too embarrassed. I'm not you, I'm not going home with him."

"I know."

I started drinking my water, when Jess was taken away to the dance floor by a blonde headed guy.

So much for hanging out.

"Excuse me, you're the one who bumped into me earlier?"

i could barley see his face due to the lack of lighting.

i could feel my face getting red with embarrasment.

"that was you? oh my god, im so sorry."

"it's okay, relax im not mad." he chuckled.

"okay, good." i sighed in relief.

"it's your first time out, isn't it?"

i nodded. "that obvious huh? actually its my first night in a club."

"not much of a party animal?"

"no, never have been. its complicated. uh you can have a seat if you want."

i took a sip of water as the guy sat down.

the lighting was a little better, but this time i actaully got to see what he looked like: short blackish brown hair and green eyes and pink plump lips.

"are you checking me out?" he asked.

"n-no i wasnt."

He chuckled in response.

"so are you here alone or..." he trailed off.

"i'm here with a friend. she practically dragged me here and now im guessing she is danicng with someone, i don't even know. shes the party animal."

"well im glad she made you come here."

"why is that?" i asked.

"no reason." he smirked.

"you're shy arent you?" i heard him ask.

I tucked a curl behind my ear nervously.

"a little."

"dance with me."

my eyes widend in response.

"i-no. i cant."

He stood and gently grabbed my hand.

"i wasnt asking." he smiled.

He led me throught the crowd of dancing bodies until we were in the center of the dance floor. there was little room there.

I shook my head and looked down.

He grabbed my other hand gently making me look up in suprise.

the song blasted through the speaker and neon flashing lights were in every direction. my gaze never left his, and everything seemed to move in slow motion.

He spun me around, and once again our gazes met and his hands slowly moved to my hips, I was shocked by his quick movement and my hands went to his biceps in surprise and so I wouldn't fall.

"relax." he mouthed.

even though the song was fast, like all the songs, we slowly moved to the beat of the music. I was getting lost in the music, the lights, and everything.

After what seemed like hours the song ended. we just stood there, not saying anything.

"That wasnt so bad now was it?"

i shook my head and smiled.

for hours after that, we sat at the booth and just talked and laughed. my first night at a club turned out pretty good.

"what time is it?" i said between laughs.

he glanced at his watch still laughing.

"3:45."

"a.m.? i have to go. im sorry"

I ran outside looking for jess' car but couldnt find it and i started to panic.

"she left me?"

i ran my hand through my hair, frustrated and started walking down the sidewalk, due to the poorly lit streets I was a little scrared.

As i was walking i heard a car behind me.

I casually turned my head and saw a black range rover following behind. my speed started to increase and I got even more panicked.

"Hey!"

I turned and saw Him in the car with his window rolled down. he pulled up beside me.

"Need a ride?"

"N-no." I stuttered.

"Come on, I can't let you walk it's freezing."

"It's fine I live 20 minutes away. I'll survive. plus I don't even know you."

"You scared?"

"N-no."

"Yes you are. come on I promise I'm not going to hurt you."

"I'll be fine."

"I'm not taking no for an answer."

I rolled my eyes. "fine."

I walked around to the passenger side and got it and was instantly greeted by the warmth of the car.

Once I buckled up he started driving.

"What's you're address?"

"54 oak ridge road."

"Oak ridge road? So your not far for mimi's diner?"

"Only a couple minutes from it, I work there actually."

"Maybe I'll have to stop by sometime."

After a couple turns and stops we finally arrived at my condo.

"I only see one car."

"I live alone."

"Oh okay. well I guess I'll see later."

I went to get out but he stopped me.

"Wait I didn't get your number."

"I'm not giving you my number."

"Why not?"

"I don't know you. how about this if we ever see each other again, I'll give you my number. deal?"

"Deal."

I got out of the car and I saw him drive off.

I reached under the mat, where I kept a spare key.

When I got inside I locked the door back and saw my phone light up.

Seven missed call and four text messages, all from jess.

All the messages said was that she went to the blonde guys place, she said his name was Eric. and that she has my keys and license.

I told her just to swing by my place tomorrow and give me my keys and license.

Once I was in my bedroom I close my door, slipped on my night shirt and and crawled under my warms covers.

*the smell of smoke filled the air, I couldn't move I was trapped. the next thing I hear are firemen trying to figure out a way to help.*

I shot up from my dream, sweating.

I looked at my clock which read 7:02 am. I don't have to be at work until 8, so I got up showered, got dress straightened my hair and put it in a high ponytail, put on a light amount of makeup.

I ran downstairs grabbed my phone and my spare key and placed them in the back pocket of my jeans.

I have to walk to work since Jess has my keys.

Once I reach the diner I saw jeff, the manager unlock the door. I checked in then started wiping down tables.

"So why were you almost late? usually you're here before me."

"Jess had my ID and my keys."

He arches a brow.

"We went out last night."

"That's a first."

"Yeah, I know. can I please get back to work."

The morning rush was pretty hectic. Jeff already went home, and told me I had to stay until 10pm since everyone else is out of town. Which is the biggest load of bullshit ever.

The door chimed signaling someone was entering.

I walked over to the table where the person was and got out my notepad.

"Welcome to Mimi's what can I get you?"

"I'll have a cup of coffee and your number."

He put down his menu to reveal Him smiling.

"I'll get you that coffee, but I think we are out of phone numbers."

"Seriously, a deals a deal."

"Be right back." I smiled.

I went to the kitchen and poured some coffee into a mug and went back to Him

"Here you go and by the way it's on the house."

"No I insists on paying."

"Okay."

" I'm Andrew by the way."

"Clara."

I changed the 'open' sign to 'closed' and went to the booth where Andrew was and sat in front of him.

"Since my shift is over I can finally sit down. what? why are you looking at my like that?"

"Like what?" he took a sip of his Coffee.

"You're just smiling at me."

"I know."

"You're so confusing." I muttered.

"Good. now about that phone number."

I rolled my eyes and took out my pen and note pad and wrote down my number.

"There. happy."

"Extremely."

I took his mug to the back, washed it and then lead him to the front, turned off all the lights and locked the doors.

"Let me give you a ride home."

"Um..."

"Please."

"Fine."

He drove me home and left.

On the way to my condo I revived a text from Jess.

Jess: I'll bring you're stuff tomorrow around lunch.

Me: okay, that's fine. see you then.

Once I was inside I locked the door the went upstairs and Changed Into my night shirt.

Right before I was about to crawl in bed when I heard the sound of glass breaking.

I grabbed my metal baseball bat from behind my bedroom door and slowly eased downstairs.

Everything seemed fine. I looked around the room and found nothing.

I jumped when I heard knocking at the door.

I opened the door and saw no one, but when I glanced down I saw a picture on the door mat I picked it up and examined it.

It's was a picture of me, changing.

I quickly closed the door and began to panic.

Someone took a picture of me. while I was changing.

I need to call the cops. now!

I reached for my home phone, but when I went press the number but I heard no sound, the line was dead.

I walked over to the light switch and nothing.

My electricity is out as well.

Then suddenly everything turned on at once.

"Jess this isn't funny!" I yelled.

But I got no response.

I don't know what's going on but all I know is, I'm not getting any sleep tonight.
