7 Years Later

I stared at the snow coloured dress adorned with diamond-like beads and the loveliest lace design before me. The feeling swallowed me like I was drowning in all my fantasies. I would never forget it. It was the most cherished memory I had. The cool, Caribbean Sea breeze had tousled my hair to perfection as I walked along the isle towards my new life. I remembered every detail. How the waves crashed along the shoreline , the innocent giggles of the little girls as I walked along and the nervous blush that kept creeping up my face as I looked towards my future.

It was perfect.

The sudden sound of soft laughter snapped me back to the present.

Standing from the chair, I tucked my long dark hair behind my ears, adjusting my pink flowing dress neatly and scanned my eyes around the room to find the source of the noise that I knew too well. That angelic little sound.

With a smile, I slowly walked across the room and spoke in a playful tone, "I wonder- I wonder- who could that be? Who could be hiding from me?"

The giggle got a little louder and hushed as I said that.

"Hmm..." I continued, playing coy that I did not know where the person was, "Wherever will I find her?"

"Is she....Behind the door?" I playfully pretended to look and acted disappointed, "Oh dear, she isn't."

With a playful sigh, I neared the bed and smiled knowing the person was under the bed, "Maybe.. just maybe...she's under the bed!" I exclaimed and caught the little four year old angel who screamed happily as I hugged her.

"Amelia," I sighed as I sat her on my lap and pushed her dark hair away from her face to reveal her sterling silver eyes much like her father's, "What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you to sit still until I come back?"

"I was bored." She pouted and stated in that sweet little tone as she got off my lap.

When she did that, I noticed that the side of her white dress had been torn.

"Lia!" I pulled her back to examine how the dress got ruined, "What happened here?"

She said nothing and I sighed tiredly.

"You never listen, do you?"

"Ron pulled me and tore it." Amelia answered quietly.

"Is he with daddy?"

"No, Ron and I were playing."

"And where's Anna?" I sighed.

"With daddy. She's asleep."

"Mommy!" I heard a soft cheerful sound call out to me and hug me gently from behind.

"Ronald, what did you do to your sister's dress?" I frowned at the six year old with eyes like the colour of the earthy ground and hair as dark as the night sky.

"It was her fault, not mine." He pouted in defence.

"You're just like your father." I sighed, standing up and taking both his and Amelia's hand and sat them on the sofa, "Stay here and behave, I'm helping Lily. You knew it's her special day today, and she would like for you all to be good children."

Like angels, they listened. Thankfully. I went into the second bedroom with the dress in hand and came into sight of the young girl sitting at the edge of the bed nervously.

"I'm scared, Julie." She stated in her soft gentle voice.

There was this sweetness that lingered of it like drizzled honey from the heavens. She was so innocent, so naïve, she was unattached from the darkness of this cruel world yet she pushed her way successfully through it without falling victim. The way her light brown hair tumbled gracefully down and her green eyes reflected the purity that laced within her blood. Now I know why Finny fell in love with her.

Placing the dress to the side, I sat close to her and gave an assuring smile, "You shouldn't be, Lily."

"What if everything changes? I've heard stories of people who get married and everything gets ruined."

"You're having second thoughts about this marriage, Lil?"

"No! I- I'm just..." she closed her eyes and took a soft breath, "I don't know how to feel."

"Lily," I smiled taking her hands in mine, "Isn't that what love is about? Isn't that how you felt when you met Finny? Do you regret that?"

"No, of course not. I love him, Julie. I really do. I'm glad I took that chance. I love him."

"Exactly. Sometimes, you have to take a risk to find and be with the one you love. No true story is simple. If you don't feel the way you feel right now then how will this day ever be memorable to you?"

Lily looked at me and within a second threw her arms around me, "You remind me so much of my older sister. Now I know why Finny is so fond of you."

"Hey," I playfully pinched her cheek, "Let's not get so emotional, you can do that when you're in labor."

"Julie!" she blushed.

"I'll call someone to help you with the dress, okay. I have to change Amelia's dress."

"Okay." She smiled and I walked out the door to find my angels falling asleep on the sofa.

"Amelia, Ron... come on babies we have to get to the hall soon okay. Don't you want to see uncle Finny getting married?" I said as I pushed their hair away from their faces and held their hands while walking out the room.

Shutting the door, I turned around to notice Ricardo walking towards me, holding a sleeping child.

My child.

"Ric?"

"I was just about to take your little one here to the room." he chuckled.

"I thought Anna was with Adrian."

"He had some work to attend to."

I frowned at that as I took her into my arms, "He's so difficult sometimes."

"Having twins don't seem that bad when I take note of both of you." He smiled.

"You should definitely think about having your own, Ric."

Hearing that, he laughed, "I'd rather not. At least, not yet."

"Well I can't wait until you find that special person. I mean if Donnie can find someone, I'm sure you can."

"God knows how your sister puts up with him."

"That's true. Oh," I paused to ask, "Are you heading back to the hall? Can you take Ronald with you?"

"It's not a problem," he stated as he took his hand.

"Thanks, I'll be there soon." I tiredly smiled and made my way through the hotel to the room with the two girls.

As I was about to open the room door, I realized that it was already unlocked and there was a voice from inside.

A voice that I knew too well.

He ended the call and sat on the sofa brushing a hand through his thick dark hair. His scorching grey eyes dimmed a bit from being tired yet his features were as strong and graceful as a diamond.

"Love." He subtly smiled towards me.

As much as I wanted to scold him for stressing himself out, I held myself back because that would do no good for either of us.

"Adrian," I breathed after placing Anna on the sofa.

"Daddy!" Amelia beamed as she ran into his arms and he placed her on his lap.

"Were you a good girl like you promised me?" he asked and kissed her forehead.

"Her dress is ruined, I came here to change her." I answered as I went into the room and picked out a new dress quickly dressing her again as I came back out.

"I'm sleepy." She whined as I fixed the dress neatly.

"I promise you that it will be over soon, okay? And after, we'll have ice-cream. Sounds like a deal?"

She said nothing but smile brightly. That was a yes.

"Mommy," the faint sound of a child cried again.

Anna tossed to the side and rubbed her eyes as Adrian went to her side and picked her up.

"Look who just woke up." he playfully stated.

In that sudden moment, there was a knock on the door.

"Jules?" I heard my sister's voice call out to me.

"Jen, it's open. You can come in."

"I came to call you all. The ceremony will start pretty soon." She smiled as I sighed, "Want me to take the kids? You look like you need a minute."

If it's one thing I loved about Jennifer Greene- it was the fact that she knew me more than I knew myself.

As she left with the kids, I went into the kitchen and took a bottle of water for myself. I was honestly exhausted. Today was more than tiring for me and that was no joke. Someone's arm suddenly wrapped around me as I felt the rocklike body against my back.

"You look terrible, Miss Greene." He chuckled teasingly into my ear. That never failed to send a delicious shiver down my spine.

Every time Adrian spoke to me I felt as if we were the only two persons on earth. I feel as if my body freezes as a deep nostalgic shiver blankets me with goosebumps. And my heart suddenly trembles as his words seem to kiss it in a way no man has ever made me feel.

"You say the most romantic things." I scoffed.

"Have I ever told you that you are a wonderful mother?"

Before I could have replied he spun me around to face him.

"What are you doing? We have a wedding to go to."

"I know." He stated as he pressed his lips against mine gently caressing his fingers into my hair.

"Adrian." I giggled as he pulled away.

"You're such a child." He laughed.

Something about his laugh seemed unusual. He was worried. It's something he does not do very often yet when he does I always notice the change.

"What's wrong?" I asked placing my hand to the side of his face.

"Why would you think something's wrong?" he brushed it off.

"Because I know you."

"Juliet," he breathed and cupped my face with his hands, "I assure you nothing will be out of order."

"Who did you speak with over the phone?"

With a sigh, he pulled away and turned to move towards the island. Adrian seemed frustrated as he leaned and rested his elbows there while rubbing his face.

"Mason."

"The guy you called off the deal with?" I frowned.

"Yes."

"What does he want?"

Adrian's hand clenched and hit the countertop almost murderously, "If I see him again, I'll fucking rip his insides out."

"What?" I stood there shocked, "What happened?"

"His useless threats aren't going to get him anywhere far."

"I don't mean to sound negative but people always threaten you."

"Yes, but they don't involve my family." He scowled.

"He- what did he say?"

Adrian's expression softened towards me when I asked and he walked towards me, "Nothing. I have everything under control. Don't worry about this."

"Honestly, I can't wait until we go back to our house. I love the hotel but I don't think it's such a good environment for the kids."

"I was thinking the same. After Finny's wedding, we'll leave.

"Good." I smiled.

***

The hall was decorated beautifully. Honestly, as each year passed the hotel developed to a new level of success. Adrian definitely went out his way on this yet at the same time he never gave me a reason to believe that he ignored his family. It must have been difficult. For a man who cared not for the world yet his own goals, for a man who did nothing but work and plan his entire life- he proved everyone wrong. He scheduled his life to include me. I know it was a challenge at first but he always looked at me and told me it was worth it. I loved that man for everything he was, is and will be. Nothing could change what I feel about him. He's the other half of my once broken heart and the vitality to my soul.

As the ceremony started, I couldn't help but notice the look on Finny's face as he saw his bride walking down the aisle. He seemed nervous yet prepared for his new start. It was a look similar to the expression Adrian held as he saw me on our wedding day. I was more than just happy for Finny. He deserved this happiness. He waited too long. I sat and smiled at how peaceful my life had settled down to. A happiness that I thought I could never attain swallowed me into a peaceful bliss. I'll never forget what happened, to be honest, I don't want too. It made me appreciate the simple things in life. The 'boring' things as some may say. Turning to the side, I noticed a familiar face. A face I never thought I'd see again. It's been seven years. I'd heard he's been out of the coma yet I could never get in contact with him. And I have tried so many times to do so. Lucas.

He stood at the door, away from all eyes yet he stared at me with such a painful longing. Getting off my chair, I made my way towards him with a heavy heart. It was as if gravity was against me that moment. I stood before my brother in utter silence.

"Juliet." he seemed to whisper my name as if it was something so valuable to him.

"Lucas." I blinked and threw my arms around him. At that moment, I didn't care again. I didn't care if he pushed me away or if he hated me. I was just so darn happy to see him again. His blonde hair seemed longer and his face that perfect structure as our father. He seemed to be keeping himself quite fit and healthy and of course he never left anywhere without his classy attire. I was happy for him. I'm glad he didn't let himself go.

The strangest thing happened, I thought he would never do this but he did- he threw his arms around me and returned my embrace. My brother hugged me. The only blood I had was right in front of me and hugging me. He cared for me.

"You look... older." He said with a soft laugh.

"I'm not sure if that was a compliment or an insult." I pulled away with a mirrored laugh.

"You look lovely. Well, sorta."

I was about to say something in response to his teasing remark but I felt a little tug at my dress. Anna stood meekly behind me and stared at Lucas with curiosity.

"Is this?" he asked with a gentle rawness in his voice.

"Yes," I smiled and he knelt down before her.

"What a beautiful little thing you are." He smiled and kissed her forehead, "I don't believe we've met."

"You could have met us sooner." I sighed.

"It wasn't as simple as you thought, Juliet."

"What do you mean?"

"You saved my life and somehow his ideas." He stated as he stood again.

"His ideas? Who are you talking about?"

"He isn't dead, and I can't find him."

"Rocille?" my breath went a little short.

"Rocille." He confirmed.

I wasn't sure how to feel about this. I honestly didn't. No words could sum this peculiar feeling that consumed me.

"You mean he broke out of jail?"

"I don't think he did. It happened too clean. Everything was done and calculated so perfectly."

"I don't understand." I frowned.

"Father has a lot of connections. He has too much dignity to go down in such a dirty way. I was trying to find him, since I came out the coma."

"You could have met me Lucas! Do you know how much I have been looking for you! Ever since you got out of it, I was searching so much for you." My heart ached.

"I know." He smiled sadly, "No one ever made so much effort for me in my entire life. You gave me a new life, Jules. I'm happy because of you. I truly am."

"But you're lonely, Lucas."

"I keep myself occupied, searching for him. I'm not going to stop."

"Every once in a while I got in contact with the officials who had Father under their watch. They called me five years ago and said he's dead. I was devastated honestly, Lucas. I felt alone when I heard he died and you still being unconscious."

"When I came out of the coma a year after that 'death' of his, a lot of things didn't make sense and I decided to investigate a bit. I've always been looking after you. You just didn't know it. You're my little sister after all, aren't you? It's my job. I swore I wouldn't meet you but I just couldn't do it again. You tried so much to find me. Your efforts are adorable. I owe this to you, Juliet. I owe you so much."

"Then promise me you wouldn't leave. Promise that you won't. Please." I took his hand and squeezed it gently.

"I promise you. I have no intention of leaving. Besides, I have three more reasons to stay." He smiled and ran his hand through Anna's hair.

"Will you stay for the rest of the function? There's a party after, you know. I'd love if you meet everyone."

"I wish I can but I really can't. I promise you, we will meet again soon. Plus, I wouldn't like to steal the spotlight at a wedding." He chuckled, "It happened too many times in my young days."

"You have an interesting story, Lucas. I'd love to find out more about the 'Great and Terrible Young Rocille' one day." I smiled.

"We have a lot of catching up to do, kid." he replied and made his way out.

***

Everything just seemed to happen so fast. Why is it that the moments that we cherish the most occurs the fastest? Life is strange indeed but it's beautiful with the right people.

Finny smiled and walked towards me when the ceremony was over.

"Julie," his soft voice kissed.

"So, have you decided how many kids yet?" I teased playfully and made him blush.

"Eight." He laughed.

"That little, kid?" Donnie chuckled walking towards us in the hall.

I looked around to find out where Jenna was, as she was always with Donnie most of the time.

"Where's Jen?"

"She took Ron outside for some fresh air. He was getting a little unsettled. Much like you, Kit Kat."

"Oh God, she could have told me."

"Where are the girls?" Finny asked.

"With Adrian." I sighed, "I'm going to find Jen."

I hope they're fine. Jen does so much for me with the kids. I know one day she'll be a wonderful mother. The best actually.

"Julie!" someone startled me as I made my way out the hall.

My little sister Nina stood there with frightful eyes. Except, she wasn't that 'little' anymore.

"Ni? What's wrong?"

"Jenna, she's hurt."

"What?" I exclaimed as shocked laced through my veins poisonously, "Where is she?"

"Just out the door of the elevator to the lobby, ground floor."

"Oh God. I'm going. Call Adrian, now."

"O-okay!" her voice trembled as she rushed away.

My heart ached as I made my way down to where my sister was. The door to the elevator opened and I saw her frantically looking around with blood on her forehead.

"Jen!"

"Julie, he's gone! Ron, someone took him. I- I can't remember." She sobbed placing a hand on her head almost as if she was in pain.

She stumbled and fell on the sofa.

"Jenna!" I rushed towards her.

"We- we were outside. There was a man- he- he hit me and grabbed Ron. I tried to stop him, Julie. I- I tried." She cried, "I just- I think I lost consciousness for a little."

"Greene." Adrian's cold voice edged as he rushed towards us on the sofa, "What happened to her, Juliet?"

"My- my baby's gone, Adrian." My eyes swelled with tears, "Someone- oh god- Adrian- they hurt her and took him."

I heard Adrian swore under his breath and stood with so much rage that it almost burned through his eyes.

"I'd kill the fucking man."

"He-"

"Julie- Julie calm down." Finny rushed towards me, along with Ricardo and Donnie, and pulled me into his embrace.

"What happened?"

"W-where are the girls?" I panicked.

"Jule- Julie relax, they're with Lily and Nina." Donnie explained and he held Jenna.

I ran my frustrated hands through my hair and felt hot tears burn on my cheeks. Wiping the pain away I tugged into Adrian's shirt.

"Do something- Adrian he-"

Without another second, he took out his phone and made a call.

"Juliet?" I heard a soft frail voice from behind, standing near the elevator.

"Mrs Dawnly!" I ran to her, "Ron-"

"I heard- Julie, we'll find him."

"I"

"Let's just get some fresh air for now?" she touched my cheeks.

"How can I-"

"Go with her Juliet, trust me. I have everything under control. I promise you. I have an idea who took him." Adrian said to me in an assuring manner and turned to Mrs Dawnly, "Take her."

Before I could have protested again, she gently pulled me along with her.

***

My heart thumped so fast that it was almost hard to keep up. Mrs Dawnly and I sat on the park bench and I constantly kept checking my phone. I felt so uneasy and frustrated so I stood and paced back and forth.

"I'll be back." I frowned and walked further along the park.

Honestly, I had no idea where I was headed. I just had to walk the worry away. I was about to call Adrian when my phone rang the same time.

'Did you find him?' I almost shouted.

He didn't answer.

'Adrian!'

'I'm not going to lie. I found the man who took him but he wasn't there.' Adrian replied in an icy tone.

'What?' I breathed in disbelief.

'Mason- I found him unconscious near the hotel but Ron wasn't there.'

'Oh God.'

'I'll find him. I will.' He stated and disconnected the call.

I stood on the bridge with teary eyes and tried to calm myself. This couldn't be happening. I couldn't believe that it was. I wished we were back at the beach house where everything was simple again.

I looked across the bridge and through my blurry vision, I swore I saw Ron standing in the middle of the bridge. I blinked confused at what was happening.

"Ronald?" I whispered.

"Mommy!" he smiled and ran to me.

"R-ron." I hugged him tightly, kissing him continuously.

I wouldn't let him go away from me again. Never.

"What a lovely little boy you have there, darling."

That voice.

I felt myself tremble at his words. Slowly, I drifted my eyes onto him. That attire that always screamed perfection. He stood there as if he could take on the world. High and mighty, even if the world was taking him down. Even if hell was sucking him in, he probably would have never changed that expression of his. I watched that man face death as if it was nothing. He was the definition of impossible. He was a mystery. He was his own class.

My father stood before me.

I tried opening my mouth to speak but couldn't. It was dry and I was speechless. All these years. What has he been up to?

"Y-you?" was the only word that escaped my mouth.

"How are you, Juliet?"

"Why did you take, Ron?" I shot up and stood in front of him.

"Oh heaven no." my father chuckled, "Why on earth would I do such a putrid thing? Surely your perception of me still is quite disdainful, I presume?"

I frowned as he neared me. Honestly, I wasn't sure how to react to what was happening right now.

"Mommy, he's a nice man." Ron suddenly stated as he tugged at my attire, "He helped me."

"I saw he was in a bit of a situation with a man I once used to do business with. I believe his name was Branwell Mason. And how could I allow my grandson to be handled like that?"

"You knew about us?"

"I know everything, darling. I even know that your brother is looking for me."

"Why are you doing this? What happened when they took you away? They told me you were dead. Do you know what I went through?" I replied in frustration.

"Forgive me but I don't think things would be very pretty if I appeared before everyone now, would it?"

How I wished he was wrong but he was right. A part of me always wanted my father to be with us but knew that would never happen due to the situation.

"Things are better this way, dear." He answered, almost reading my mind, "Besides, there are a lot of things I need to take care of."

"What do you mean?"

He smiled at my question yet didn't reply, "I should be going now. Take care of yourself and my grandchildren, sweetheart. We'll meet again."

And with that, he kissed my forehead.

I wasn't sure what to think of that but somehow I know I needn't be worried. He was my father after all.

I walked back to the hotel with Mrs Dawnly and Ron. As they entered inside, I stood there and looked at everyone exchanging hugs. Adrian fixed his gaze on me and gave a subtle smile.

From that moment on, I decided to always move ahead in life and not investigate what isn't my business. In other words, don't look for trouble when there is none.

Heh, I'll see how far that gets me.

And so, my story continues.

Ana

The scent of smoke tickled through my nostrils. I coughed and twisted, feeling cold and damp. My heavy eyelids peeled itself open tiredly. My heart stopped at the image before me. The snow haired man sat before me, observing me in my sleep, while smoking a pipe nonchalantly. A flush of blushed panic shocked through my body.

"You creep!" I shrieked, threw a pillow at him, and missed in reflex. I was mortified. Did he really sit there watching me sleep while my clothing thinned upon my body due to the rain? What a perv.

Unbothered, he exhaled a cloud of smoke. "What is a perv and why are you screaming?"

I blinked. How did he...?

"You are quite an ugly creature, I must admit." He continued.

Did he just call me ugly? My eye twitched. The nerve of this guy.

"Oh, says the one who's trying to observe and take advantage of the poor helplessly soaked sleeping lady on your sofa."

He frowned in confusion, "I do not see any lady, only a filthy little rug rat perched with drool from her mouth staining my sofa." He stood and turned, "However, if it makes you feel any better, you do not have much for me to observe in order to 'take advantage' of."

"Lady Alois!" a little boy suddenly ran towards me and fell into my arms. "I'm so glad you're staying with us." He purred softly and kindly. His little body was so small and soft and warm.

"Staying?"

"Oh yes," he smiled, "Master Yuri said you'll be staying with us. The letter said you are lady of this house. Master Yuri's significant."

Panic flushed over me.

"I'm what?"

"You heard me," the little boy giggled, "According to his brother, you are entitled to everything here- even him."

"Tomai, get away from her. You could get sick." Yuri scolded, irritated at the young boy's blatant words.
