Chapter 2 (EDITED)-
I stopped my bike a few blocks away and hid it behind some bushes. Quickly glancing around, I walked up to the graffiti filled wall; my footsteps barely audible. I stopped at the door and pressed the buzzer while tugging my hood tighter around my head. The small upper part of the door instantly opened to reveal a pair of dark eyes.
His eyes widened in shock and fear when he saw me and the door flew open. I didn't bother acknowledging the guy as I walked past him and stepped into a mad world. The place was completely illuminated with a bright lights and many drunk people were cheering at two men fighting in the ring.
I skilfully made my way to the bar. The people around me were too busy screaming profanities to pay attention to me.
I sat on a chair and faced the bartender, Thomas.
"Hey, kiddo," his usual cheeky grin was plastered on his face. Thomas was the only person who didn't cower or bow down to me which made me more at ease around him. There wasn't one wicked bone in his body. He was a good guy and he worked at the bar only because his Uncle was the manager.
I gave him a tight-lipped smile, "Hey, Sonic."
He automatically rolled his eyes. "You have got to stop calling me that."
"Why? It goes well with your...look," I bit my lip to stop the bubbling laugh that was waiting to break through. The first time I had seen him, I had immediately thought of Sonic the Hedgehog because he had extremely spiky hair that was dyed a light blue at the end.
"Urgh, if I didn't like you so much, I would hate you," he pouted.
"I think you're too old for me," I chuckled, making his jaw drop.
"I'm 23! That's far from old!" He protested.
"Whatever you say...Old man," I added.
"That's it, we're no longer friends!" He shrieked before giving me his back.
"Who said we were?" I smirked. He instantly whipped back around to face me.
"I'm joking! I'm joking!" I quickly said.
"You better be," he narrowed his brown eyes.
"Yeah, yeah-" But my voice was drowned out by a sudden up roar in the crowd. I twisted around to observe the ring. A guy in blue shorts was sprawled on the floor while the one in red shorts was pumping a fist in the air. Huh, he must've won.
"AND BURRITO WINS AGAIN!" The announcer bellowed. Burrito? I nearly burst out laughing at such a name.
"Oh my god, who would name themselves Burrito?" I shook my head in amusement making Thomas bark out a laugh.
"WHO IS WILLING TO BRING DOWN THE GREAT BURRITO?" The announcer yelled again. In the corner of my eye, I saw Thomas doubling over laughter.
A small smirk on my lips, I lazily stood up and made my way through the throng of people.
"I will," I said as I lifted myself up the ropes and gracefully jumped over it to land into the ring. The whole underground went silent. I stood up tall and kept my eyes on the Great Burrito. He was a well-built man, my guess- he was in his early thirties with dark hair and brown eyes. Nothing I couldn't handle.
I took a step forward, making the crowd suddenly erupt in drunken cheers.
"WOW! THAT WAS A TOTALLY UNEXPECTED VISIT FROM THE BLACK HOOD!"
My eardrums nearly burst at the announcer's scream. Urgh, stupid guy and his stupid loud microphone. Why did he even have to use a microphone? I was sure that he could put good use to his naturally loud voice without the fucking mic.
"THE FIGHT BEGINS!" My left eye twitched as I restrained myself from bashing the guy's face for bursting my eardrums.
"Huh, pathetic," The Great Burrito snorted. My temper instantly flared up. He obviously hadn't been here before, because if he had, he wouldn't have underestimated me. Ever since I moved to this town, I had beaten up every single one of my opponents and since I always wore a black hood, they called me 'Black Hood' which is seriously lame as heck. But who cared? It wasn't like my fighter name needed to be that awesome. All I needed was the cash.
"If I were you, I wouldn't have said that," My words were cold and emotionless as they cut through the air. He visibly flinched. Wimp.
"You're a girl!" he exclaimed. I internally rolled my eyes; was he that blind that he didn't realize that any sooner?
"I'm pretty sure I am, yeah," I tilted my lips into a smirk and took a step forward. He instantly went in defense position.
"Yeah and you're weak. Why don't you just go cry to your momma?"
Wrong choice of words, Burrito. You just committed a huge mistake.
Before he could even blink, I had thrown a massive punch at him. In a second he was on the floor, clutching his now bleeding nose.
"Not so weak now, huh?" I growled staring down at him with my deadly blue eyes. He quickly scrambled up but I karate kicked his shin and he fell flat on his back. He suddenly threw one leg out at me but I had already seen it coming and leapt into the air before his leg could swipe my body down.
Now it was time for my final attack.
"Goodnight," I gave him an icy smile before doing a roundhouse kick and knocking him out. The underground erupted in screams and cheers but I could care less.
"AND BLACK HOOD DEFEATS THE GREAT BURRITO!" The announcer screamed.
Could he be any louder? It wasn't like the whole crowd hadn't seen that I had won!
He leaned forward and slightly removed his mic before silently asking me, "Are you willing to go for another fight?"
I briskly nodded. I needed money if I wanted Mia to have what other kids had and for that to happen, I would have to fight hard.
"OKAY SO WHO IS WILLING TO FIGHT BLACK HOOD?"
All of a sudden, a door slammed open. All heads- including mine- whipped back to see who had just entered. I instantly regretted my decision of coming here tonight because standing next to the door were my school's five badboys. Just because I was anti-social didn't mean that I was clueless to the people at my school. Okay so maybe I was...I mean I didn't know their names but- oh whatever! Like knowing their names even mattered, the point was that I actually knew that they were the 'Badboys' of the school.
Before I could jump off the ring and duck out of their sight, one of the boys called out:
"I want to!"
That bastard! Couldn't he shut his pretty little mouth? Now I risked being found out!
"Leroy! We just came here to look around, dude. Not to fight!" The boy closest to him slapped his head.
"Ouch! Careful with my hair!" Leroy glared.
"Forget your hair! You shouldn't have volunteered in the first place," the boy who had slapped his head glared at him.
"I can do whatever I want! And I want to fight! Plus it can't be that hard right?" Leroy scoffed and climbed into the ring. My eyes narrowed into slits and for once I wanted to remove my hood and let him glance at my reaction. He would have run back to his rich kid home while screaming.
"Leroy..." Another guy warned but Leroy just rolled his eyes and instead turned to face me.
"Heyya! I'm Leroy and this is my first fight, handshake?" He grinned excitedly and stuck out his hand. After blinking once or twice at his hand, I slowly took his hand in mine. Was he for real? He shook my hand vigorously before clapping his hands and facing the announcer.
"Hi! Can you please start the fight for us?" He grinned widely, making the announcer just as bewildered and shocked as I was.
"Uh...yeah..." he said before clearing his throat and talking in the mic, "Ladies and gentlemen, I present you the fighters: Whatshisname and Black Hood!"
Leroy looked ready to protest but gave uo when people started clapping and hooting. I, however, was eternally grateful that the mic-man hadn't shouted.
"THE FIGHT BEGINS!"
Spoke too soon.
Sighing, I faced Leroy. To my surprise, he was bouncing up and down like a hare while circling around me. I quickly pressed my lips to prevent myself from guffawing.
Oh my god, did he go in overdose of sugar or something? Because he seriously looks ridiculous jumping like that with a grin as wide as the cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland.
"Come on...come on...I'm ready...I'm ready," he jumped from one foot to the other and he was already visibly panting. From the corner of my eye, his friends were all face-palming and letting out exasperated sighs. I'm guessing that they are used to seeing him act as crazy as this...
I cocked my head and stared at him as he suddenly stopped jumping and leaned on his knees while huffing, "Wait...let me...take a break..."
I'm going to ask again: Is he for real? Okay so THIS guy is definitely not what I call a 'badboy.' Well that's in my definition of badboy at least.
As I 'wait' for him to catch his breath, I get the time to study his physique. He had very light blonde hair which was just above his sparkling bluish grey eyes. He had a very boyish smile and one dimple. It was obvious that he didn't have any shaped abs but he wasn't fat, he was just...Fit? Like, he did have strong arms but they weren't impressive or large biceps.
From the looks, I would say that he was slightly above middle class since he had expensive track shoes but normal clothes. Urgh, I don't even care. It's not like I judged him.
"Okay, I'm ready now," he stretched and then gave me a grin. Shaking my head, I forced myself not to leave the ring.
"Wait. You're a girl?" He suddenly shrieks while pointing his finger at me. My eyes trailed down to where his finger was currently pointing and it landed on a long curly strand of my black hair. Oh shoot! I quickly stuffed back the hair into my hood. Oh my god, how could I be so careless not to have noticed that my long hair was in plain sight of every person in this underground.
I mentally face-palmed.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I thought you were a guy so that's why I volunteered to fight you- I had no idea you were a girl, otherwise I wouldn't even have considered of laying a finger on you!" Leroy wailed. A wave of anger swept through me and I refrained myself from punching the crap out of this douche bag.
"What would the difference be if I was a guy or girl?" Compared to my cool and calm voice, my body was visibly trembling in fury. Leroy's eyes widened at my state.
"No! I mean- I- I- didn't mean to offend you! I just- just meant that- I-"
"Shut the hell up," I growled. My mood did a complete one-eighty as my shoulders tensed and my hands curled into fists. The nerve of this guy! I didn't judge him for his appearance or gender so why in the world did he have to judge me? Why did everyone have to judge me?
Every time a fighter sees me, they think I'm a guy but when they learn that I'm a girl, they gasp and act shocked. I mean for the sake of god- what was there problem? Was it really a surprise to see a girl fighting? It's not like our physical differences from boys determined our strength.
My body trembled as I took a quick step forward. Leroy instantly took two steps away from me. His move ignited my anger. Don't hit him. Don't hit him. Don't hit him- before I could stop myself, I had thrown a right hook at him. He let out a cry as he hit the floor and blood splattered from his nose.
I guess I'm aiming for noses today.
"Leroy!"
