I was back to my second home. Back to the place I had first met Blake.
But I was back for the last time.
The noise was deafening, the crowd wild and the pungent smell of alcohol imminent but the place still enveloped me comfortingly. For the first time I found myself entering the underground with no hood, with no weight on my shoulders, with no quest for money.
I was floating.
When I was a few meters from the bar, my gaze slowly landed on a familiar figure- but this time he wasn't alone. I bit my lip to stop the huge smile from breaking out and stepped forward. His eyes leisurely turned in my direction and when they finally landed on me, he blinked.
A small smirk pulled at my lips and I laughed, "Long time no see, Sonic."
"H-Hayley?" he screamed and several heads snapped in our direction. Before I could react, he leapt over the counter and engulfed me into a huge hug. I wrapped my arms around his waist tightly and relaxed. We stayed in that position until we had to release each other to breath from that tight hug.
He smiled the biggest smile ever and I grinned back.
"What the hell happened to you?" We both asked at the same time before bursting in laughter.
Sonic was no longer Sonic- his hair was naturally brown and he had removed all his piercings. He definitely looked more boyish and mature for his age.
"Where have you been?" He asked.
"Everywhere," I groaned and he rolled his eyes.
"I was so worried and you were gone for the longest time ever! I thought you had left the country without saying goodbye," he scolded.
"Well..." I winced, "Technically I did leave the country since I was kidnapped and all-"
"-What?" He shrieked appalled.
"The story of my life," I laughed.
"You were kidnapped? By who? How? When? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Yes, by my ex-boyfriend, by car, last week, because I was quite busy being tied and all," I shrugged.
His jaw dropped and he gaped, "Your ex-boyfriend kidnapped you by car last week and he tied you up?"
"Basically, yes," I nodded, "It's a really long story and I wish I could sit down and tell you all about my life but...someone's waiting for me," I smiled wistfully and held on his arm tighter.
His smile dropped, "You're leaving?"
I slowly nodded, "Yeah, I'm going to leave the country- and not because of kidnap," I quickly added.
"Why? With who?" He stared at me bewildered.
"With my boyfriend and his family," I grinned.
"Your boyfriend? Please don't tell me its your ex!" He gasped.
"What? No! He's in jail," I exclaimed, horrified.
"Thank God," he sighed before suddenly jumping, "I know! It was the guy I saw at the bar who was glaring at me!"
"Yeah, he's kind of protective but he's my match, literally," I laughed.
Sonic gave me a weird look before grinning, "I'm really happy for you- it seems to be serious between you two,"
"It is," I nodded.
"Speaking of couples...I want you to meet someone," Sonic stepped away from me before turning to the girl behind the bar. She stepped forward and gave me a soft smile, "Hello, I'm Sophy."
She had wide light brown eyes, wavy brown hair pulled into a ponytail and a soft smile.
My grin widened, "Hi! It's nice to meet Sonic's girl- I'm Hayley, his friend," I extended my hand out for her to shake and saw Sonic redden in embarrassment.
Sophy shook it and smiled, "He talks a lot about you."
"Do you really, Sonic?" I turned and gave him a sly smile and he rolled his eyes.
"Why do you call him Sonic?" Sophy cocked her head in curiosity and I nearly cooed. She was so cute- no wonder he fell for her.
Sonic's head whipped towards me and he shook it violently, "Don't tell her!" He mouthed and I laughed.
"For no reason," I told her and she shrugged. Something suddenly struck me and I faced back Sophy.
"The hug Sonic and I just shared was purely friendly by the way."
To my surprise, Sophy just laughed, "I kind of figured that out when you mentioned your boyfriend-" her eyes widened and she shook her head, "-I wasn't spying on your conversation! I just overheard...I'm sorry," she mumbled.
I leaned over and patted her head, "It's okay, I was quite public about it."
Sonic came around and slung one arm over her shoulder. Sophy instantly leaned against him and they shared a loving look.
I smiled softly, "I wish you guys all the happiness possible."
Sonic grinned, "Thanks,"
I straightened my back and reached into my pocket for the letter.
I handed it to Sonic, "Here, this letter tells you all about my life and what I couldn't tell you before when my world was upside down. T-thank you for being my friend and supporting me when I first came here,"
His eyes watered up as his fingers closed over the envelope, "I-I'll miss you Hayley."
"I'll miss you too, Sonic."
He gave me another hug and I waved to Sophy who waved back. And just before the door closed he called out, "Don't forget to come visit!"
I smiled to myself as I made my way to Blake's car. I will, Sonic. I will.
"Everything okay?" smiled the most gorgeous man on earth as I swung the car door open.
"Yup," I nodded before sighing, "I'll miss this place."
Blake smiled ruefully, "I know and we'll go and visit them soon, okay?"
I grinned, "Okay! So is everyone prepared?"
"Yes! I'm pumped!" He whooped and I laughed.
"I don't even know why I agreed to this trip- you never did tell me," I stared at him questioningly.
It was true! Three days after the kidnapping episode, he told me that he was going to move to California and I had blindly agreed to come with him. I definitely wasn't in my right mind but I guess that's what love mixed with the mate pull of a werewolf did to an innocent human like me.
Blake glanced at me before turning back to the road. A slow smirk tugged his lips, "You know how werewolves have a pack?"
I frowned, "Yes? It's Tyler, Sheldon, Leroy and Chris."
Blake barked out a laugh, "That's not a pack, that's just my beta and my best fighters."
I blinked. "Huh?"
"I only came here to study human life, haven't you realised that it's not normal when a 22 year old guy goes to highschool,"
Realization dawned on me and I gasped, "What the hell are you doing at school?"
"My father gave me a mission to make a report on human life. It took me two years to complete it- I was going to leave one month ago but then I met you in the underground."
The information sunk in my head and I slumped back into my seat in shock, "Your dad lives in California?"
"Not only my dad, my whole pack," the car stopped and he got out. His whole pack? There were more?
The door on my side opened and strong arms wrapped around me to help me out. I couldn't help but smile as he gazed down at me lovingly. I would go anywhere with him.
His arms went around my waist and I was pulled up against him.
"So what happens now?" I whispered softly, glancing at his lips. My heart beat increased at the proximity and I stood on my tip-toes.
"Now..." he leaned closer, his minty breath fanning my face and I instinctively closed my eyes.
"Now you're going to have a family,"
And he sealed it with a kiss.
