Chapter 18

Secrets and Thunder

I yawned and stretched, careful not to hurt my sides and back to much, but I had to move. We had been working on this project for over an hour. I laid back on the floor and sighed. Luka chuckled.

"I think we got a lot done tonight" he said. I nodded and sat up.

"Yea, I have almost everything I need, accept the pictures of you with your friends and family, and the football game, but I can get those tomorrow" I said. He nodded. A small silence filled the room and I felt my nerves rise. I looked down at my hands, to afraid to look him in the eyes. My mind kept wandering to the kiss. Did he only do it to stop me from freaking out? Did he regret it? He didn't act like it, but I knew people could act like they were fine, only to collapse behind closed doors. I yelped when I was lifted from the floor and placed on Lukas lap. He turned me to face him and rested his forehead to mine.

"Hey" he whispered "stop over thinking it, ok" he said. I sighed.

"I'm sorry" I said. He shook his head.

"Don't be" he said. I smiled.

"So what are we? What are we gonna tell your gang" I asked with a small blush. Luka chuckled and ran his hand through his hair.

"Damn" he whispered. I nodded.

"We won't tell them" I said. He look at me with sadness in his eyes.

"I'm sorry" he mumbled. I shrugged.

"Doesn't matter" I said. He sighed and buried his face in my neck.

"I want to tell everyone your mine, but I'm a gang leader, a boss. If anyone knew then you would be in danger constantly. I can't let that happen. Dating me would be like signing your death" he said, kissing my neck lightly. I shivered.

"Maybe I want to" I said. He pulled back and shook his head.

"No, I will not let you die" he said.

"Then what are you so scared of" I shot back. He sighed.

"I don't want to have this conversation. We need to go downstairs. It's almost midnight, you need to go home" he said looking away from me. I sighed and stood up. As I was walking out Luka grabbed my hand.

"Please don't be mad" he whispered. I shook my head.

"I'm not mad" I said and gave him a small fake smile. I walked out before he could say anything else. When we entered the living room everyone turned to stare at us.

"Are you all done" Ash asked. I nodded.

"For tonight. I'll get the rest of the pictures I need tomorrow at the game" I said. They nodded and Day stood up.

"Ok, then I guess we better go" he said. I nodded.

"Hang on kids" Damion, Lukas father said as he walked into the room.

"I don't think it's a good idea for you to leave" he said. I frowned and turned to Day.

"Why" he asked. Damion sighed.

"There's a big storm coming through and I really don't want you kids out in it" he said. I gasped and turned to Day, he nodded and pulled me to him.

"I know, I know" he whispered.

"What's wrong" Luka asked stepping closer to us. Day sighed.

"She doesn't like storms and the thought of her mom out there scares her" he said. Luka nodded. He walked over to me and pulled something out of his pocket.

"Call her" he said. I shook my head.

"She doesn't have her phone" I said.

"Then call her boss" Ash said. I nodded and took the phone. I dialed his number and waited. It rang three times before he answered.

"I know. She will not be leaving the building" David said. I sighed.

"Thank you" I said.

"It's fine. We have spare bedrooms down below. There for a tornado, so she'll be safe. Her only worry is you. What do you want me to tell her" he asked. I looked around and saw Day had his arms wrapped around Night and smiled.

"Tell her I'll be staying at Damion's, Lukas fathers" I said.

"Alright, stay safe" David said.

"I will. Just keep her safe" I said.

"I will. Goodbye"

"Goodbye" I said before hanging up and handing the phone to Luka. I turned to Damion.

"Thank you for letting us stay" I said. He nodded.

"Its fine, but we don't have any extra rooms. You'll have to sleep in the same room as someone" he said. I nodded and turned to Day and smiled. He chuckled.

"Oh no you don't" he said. I giggled.

"What" I asked innocently. He shook his head. Ash frowned.

"Did we miss something" he asked. Day laughed.

"Yes. Little Miss Devil over there is thinking of sleeping by herself in here, or on the floor somewhere and letting me sleep with Night" he said. Night coughed and buried his red face into Days chest. I smiled.

"I have no idea what you're talking about" I said. He shook his head and sighed.

"Come on Anna" he said. I smiled at the nickname but shook my head.

"You're not changing my mind" I said. I turned to Damion.

"Do you mind bringing me a blanket and I'll be fine down here" I said. Damion nodded, but before he could move Luka stepped in.

"I'm not letting you sleep on the couch. It's uncomfortable" he said. I shrugged.

"Oh well, I've slept in worse" I said. He shook his head and walked off in anger. I shrugged.

"Well it's almost midnight. Goodnight everyone" Damion said before walking off. We all said our goodnights and they went to their rooms. I smiled as I saw Night lead Day up to his room. They were good for each other, and I was happy Day had found someone and didn't have to worry about me and my mom any more. I sighed and laid down on the couch.

I had been asleep for a while when thunder started to rumble through the night and lighting flashed outside the window. I sat up and looked around the dark room as another flash of lighting lit the sky. I saw Luka laying on the ground by the couch. He was laying on his back, one of his arms slung over his eyes. I gasped. What was he doing here? Had he came down to make sure I was ok? Thunder rumbled again and I jumped. I looked down at Luka once more. He was only in boxers. I blushed but couldn't take my eyes off him. He shifted and I gasped again. I had to wake him up. If he slept on the ground like that then his back would hurt tomorrow, and he didn't need that before a game. I climbed off the couch and kneeled beside him. I tugged on his arm trying to wake him up, but he didn't move.

"Wake up" I whispered. Still, he didn't move.

"Come on, you need to wake up" I said once again, but nothing happened. Just then a loud thunder clapped and shook the house. I yelped and fell on top of him in fear. He gasped and sat up, throwing me down onto his lap. He rubbed his eyes and looked down to see me sprawled across his lap. He chuckled. I rolled my eyes.

"Oh shut up. The only reason I woke you up was because I don't want your back hurting before the game" I said as I stood up. Luka stood as well and stretched. Giving me a show of his muscles moving and flexing as he moved. I blushed and thanked everything that was good in the world that it was dark and he couldn't see it.

"Well I'm not leaving unless you come with me" he said. I sighed.

"No. I'm going to sleep here" I said. I didn't know what would happen if I was in the same bed as him. Even though I wanted to find out I knew it would be a mistake in the morning. Luka sighed.

"Then I'm sleeping on the floor" he said as he began to sit back down, but I stopped him.

"Fine, fine" I said. He smiled and took my hand, gently kissing it.

"Thank you" he said as he led me up to his room.
