I sat against the headboard with my knees held tightly to my chest. The memories of me being helpless, as I sunk to the bottom of the pool replayed over and over in my head like a broken record. I could still feel the panic as all of my air reserves were used and replaced with chlorinated water. I would scream but only more water rushed in. I rocked back and forth trying to keep myself together. I closed my eyes and blocked everything around me out, focusing solely on pushing the haunting memories out of my head. I could feel someone holding me and whispering things to me in what I assumed would have been a soothing manner, but my brain couldn't process the words.
Somewhere in that time my body drifted off into a dreamless sleep needing some time to process what had happened without my conscious thoughts getting in the way.
I was awoken by the sunlight streaming in through the open window. I blinked a couple times before pulling the covers over my head to shield my sensitive eyes from the sun.
"Jessica?" I heard the curtains shut and I slowly peeled the covers from my face recognizing the voice.
"Dad." I said as I finally saw his face. He sat down next to me and I instantly wrapped my arms around him. The comfort that enveloped me made my body relax into his.
"Hey baby girl." He rubbed his hand over my back. "Joseph called me last night. He was really worried about you." He said pulling away from me. I missed the calming feeling that faded away as soon as his arms weren't around me. I hugged myself and nodding. "You look a lot better today, how are you feeling." He talked softly like he was speaking to an abandoned puppy that would bolt and panic at any sudden movements or sounds.
"Yea." Was all I could think to respond with. I didn't feel like I couldn't breathe anymore so I guess that meant I was feeling better.
"Ok. Well Joseph asked me to give him a call when you woke up. He said he had something important come up or he would've stayed." My dad said getting up from the bed to retrieve his cell phone from the dresser across the room.
My mind started to panic when it saw him getting up. I jumped forward with wide eyes. I opened my mouth to say something but no words came. He turned around when he heard me moving. "Hey it's ok sweetheart I'm not going anywhere just getting my phone." He soothed when he saw my wide panicked eyes.
I nodded as relaxed back into a sitting position. I watched him type in some numbers and then bring the phone to his ear. He said something and then seconds later he was hanging up the phone. "He's on his way." I nodded keeping my mouth shut.
My dad continued to make small talk with me, completely avoiding the whole almost dying thing altogether until Joseph opened the door to my room. My dad shut up as soon as Joseph was in the room. I held eye contact with Joseph until he sat down on the bed next to me. He pulled his leg underneath him so that we were sitting face to face. He pulled my body into his chest molding my body into his. The calm feeling that engulfed me when my dad hugged me before was nothing compared to the feeling I was having right now. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my head in his shoulder.
"Are you alright?" He whispered. I nodded and hugged him tighter to me. He sighed and pulled away. I tried my best to keep myself from pouting and acting like a child, but I couldn't help being disappointed at the loss of contact. "I need you to tell me what happened Jessica." He looked me straight in the eye. His expression wasn't his normal icy cold it was stern and serious.
"I-.." I trailed off tears coming to my eyes. I then looked over at my father who was looking at me curiously concerned. I bit my lip and looked down. Joseph seemed to catch the hint and asked my father to give us a moment. I could tell that my dad was hesitant by the way he opened and closed his mouth. Joseph stared him down until the door clicked shut down behind him.
"Alright, now I need. You to tell me what happened." He said looking directly into my watery eyes.
"Well we were playing that game, and I can't swim. So I was moving around so you didn't catch me and I was getting close to the deep end but I could still touch the bottom so I didn't think anything of it. When you got close to catching Olivia she swam over towards me and I don't exactly remember what happened but I guess she bumped me or pushed me I can't quite... Anyway I slipped and my head went under and I panicked. I opened my mouth and tried to swim to the surface but I just kept sinking and then everything just slowly faded until I woke up on the side of the pool." I kind of recited the story in a daze. When I finished I looked up at Joseph. His jaw was clenched and he's eyebrows were furrowed. It would've been hot if I didn't know that meant he was furious
"So you're telling me that you're own sister is responsible." His green eyes met mine and the darkness of them almost scared me. I nodded slowly in response. He nodded, shook his head and then got up.
"Where are you going?" Asked a bit worried.
"There is no way that she is getting away with this." He stormed from the room. I quickly got up and followed him down the hall. I found my father in the hallway outside my room he was watching Joseph as he walked. He looked at me once he saw me running after him.
"Jessica what is going on?!" I heard him yell. I looked over my shoulder.
"Stay here dad!" I then took off after Joseph trying to catch up because he was already out of sight.
I found him finally when I turned down the hall Olivia's room was in. He didn't knock he just walked in.
I ran down the long corridor and gasped loudly when I saw Joseph had a gun to my step sisters head. "Joseph! Stop! What are doing." I yelled.
He glanced at me and then back to my crying sister. "She tried to kill you. It's only fair I return the favor." He growled.
"No! Please! She's lying I didn't do anything she just fell or something." Olivia cried desperately. Her makeup was running down her face in streams as her tears washed it all away.
"Joseph." I said softer. "She's my sister. I can't let you do this." He looked at me for a good minute. I could see from a good 10 feet away that his hand was shaking from rage.
He closed his eyes and clenched his jaw tightly as he threw the gun to the side. It landed on the bed next to Olivia. I held my breath as I knew it was loaded and cocked. "Fine. I won't kill you now, but I want you the hell out of my house right now and I swear if I ever see you again I'll kill you." He said looking her dead in the eyes. She whimpered and nodded looking down.
"What is all the commotion in here?" I whipped around and saw Mandy standing there with her hands on her hips.
"Mandy get out. Now." I looked her dead in the eyes, hoping to get across how serious this situation was.
She cocked an eyebrow and scoffed. "Don't tell me what to do." She proceeded to look past me at Olivia and Joseph. "What is going on."
"Amanda get the hell out. You're lucky I'm not kicking you out too." Joseph said he voice dangerously dark. I scared even me to hear it, so I couldn't imagine what it felt like for Mandy.
Mandy left with her tail between her legs. "Mandy." Olivia cried.
"Don't speak." Joseph spat at Olivia. "Just get out." I guess this was the side of Joseph everyone was talking about when they said he was a cold hearted bastard.
He pulled me along with him down the halls until we were in his room. "Jose-.." He crashed his lips on mine effectively cutting off my sentence. He pulled my hips forward so that they were touching his.
I went to pull away but he gripped my face with both his hands trapping our lips together. He pushed my body hard into the wall grinding his lower body into mine. I gasped opening my mouth, his desperate kisses left my already abused lungs deprived of air. He moved his mouth down to my neck and sucked up and down the entire length of it and down to my collar bones. I gasped and whimpered pulling my hands against his that were holding mine next to my head.
"Joseph." I said breathlessly in an attempt to snap him out of what ever frenzy he was currently in. "Joseph stop." I said a little more sternly.
He abandoned my neck and moved up to my ear. He licked a strip along the rim and blew on it softly. I shivered as he blew the cold air into my ear and sucked softly on my ear lobe. He pulled gently with his teeth. I bit my lip to keep myself from moaning not wanting to encourage him further. "Just let go." He whispered before moving back to my mouth and pulling on my bottom lip. I contemplated those three words in my head. My thinking was getting cloudier and cloudier the more his hands moved around my body.
I gasped as his hand squeezed my butt roughly. His hands wrapped around my thighs and he lifted my up around his waist. I couldn't hope to stop the moan that escaped when he pushed and grinded his hard on into me even harder. I felt him smile against my mouth. I grinned as well and captured his bottom lip between my teeth and tugged gently giving him a taste of his own medicine. The smile instantly dropped off his face and he groaned. He walked over to the bed and dropped me down on it tugging his shirt over his head as well.
A strange sense of dejavoo washed over me and I remembered the last time we were in this position. I remembered what went down that night and I suddenly wasn't feeling so turned on anymore. Backed up on the bed, not wanting to continue our previous actions. He followed me thinking I was playing some sort of game. When he reached me I put a hand on his chest to stop his face from reaching mine again.
"Don't." His green eyes were dark and swirling with unsatisfied lust.
"Please." He said and grinded his hips into mine desperately. I could see his erection through his dress pants. It made me wonder just how big he was.
"Stop Joseph. Please. I don't want this. Not right now." I said pushing him away from me.
He groaned and rolled to the side off of me. "Well I guess the good news is I don't feel like killing someone anymore. Bad news I'm more sexually frustrated than I was when I was a teenager." His voice was strained.
I felt bad for going that far and then making him stop. But I was a virgin and I wasn't going to have sex until I was ready. "I'm sorry." I whispered to him.
"Don't you ever feel sorry. I'm sorry I shouldn't push you if you aren't ready." His eyes were getting lighter.
"I'm a virgin." I blurted. Turning beat red after the words left my mouth. I sat up and covered my face with my hands.
"Hey." He pulled my hands away from my blushing checks and looked my in the eye. "I'm sorry. I didn't know. If I had I would've gone a lot slower and more careful." He chuckle softly. "Don't be embarrassed little one." He said and pulled me into his arms. "I don't mind. It just means I get to teach you."
