" Alright Tif. Have a fun day." I kissed her cheek and left her at her table in her preschool class. I waved at the teacher and smiled as I left.
" Bye Jessica I'll see you this afternoon." Mrs. Scott called out to me.
" Yep, I'll be here at 11."
I walked straight to the high school after I dropped her off. My school started only 30 minutes after hers did and it took me about 15 to get there.
While I walked I kept my head down. there were people fighting and laying passed out on the streets everywhere. I saw them every day. The same low life's that drink themselves to death. I swore that I would never be one of those people. No matter how bad things got. I wouldn't allow myself to get to that point.
Once in sight of the school I couldn't help but sigh in relief. There wasn't much difference between being on school property and the streets. There were still fights and stuff like that. It was just easier to stay away from it.
I opened my locker only to have it slammed shut by none other than my dear sister Olivia Jackson. " Hey buzz kill how was walking that little brat to school today?" She sneered, while all her little slut friends laughed behind her.
The more they laughed the angrier I got. " Your calling her the brat! Take a look in the mirror before you go calling other people that you bitch!" I yelled.
None of them were laughing now. " how dare you. When I tell mom she is-"
" Ohhh." I cut her off. " need mommy to protect you again. Why don't you just stick up for yourself instead of hiding behind her." I narrowed my eyes at her and waited for her comeback.
" You just wait." Then she turned around and left. Coward. I thought about yelling after her to come finish what she started, but I didn't want to make a bigger scene than I already had.
I opened my locker again, grabbed my books, then slammed it shut. I hugged them to my chest then stalked to my first period.
" Hey." Some kid said as I sat down behind him.
" Uhh. Hi." I said and tucked a strand of my brown hair behind my ear.
" I'm Cameron. I saw that little fight you had with Olivia. That was pretty badass." he said nodding his head.
I cracked a smile " thanks. She had it coming. She was always terrible at making up comebacks. She just hides behind her mommy and relies on her to protect her. She can't do much on her own." I said shrugging.
" Your really cute." he said poking my left dimple. " I like your smile. Hey you should come to my game tonight." he put his hand back in his lap then leaned back on his desk.
" Hmm." I said stroking my chin pretending to think about it. " depends on what you play. I don't really like football." I raised my eyebrow.
He laughed and let me tell you it was the sexiest laugh I ever heard. How had I never noticed this kid before. " well it's a good thing I don't play football then." He leaned closer and put his elbows on my desk.
" Well what do you play?" I asked truly curious.
" Basketball. The game is at 6. You should come. There's a party afterwards. You should come to that too."
" Alright. I'll be there." I nodded just as the bell rang. He winked and turned around. I bit my lip and smiled. He was hot as hell.
I looked over and saw one of Olivia's wannabes glaring at me from across the room. I rolled my eyes at her she was probably jealous.
The classed dragged on while the teacher taught about all the confusing rules of Calculus. Once it was over I gathered my things and headed out the door. " Hey hot stuff what's your next class?" I looked up and met Cameron's Deep forest green eyes.
" Hey Cameron." I smiled. then I remembered he asked me a question. " uhh I have drawing next." I nodded awkwardly then looked back up at him. "What about you."
" I have h-." he started to say.
" Hey Cameron. Me and the girls are coming to your game tonight. We're soooo excited to see you play." The same girl that was glaring at me in class said as she basically hung on Cameron's arm. lucky for her he had biceps bigger than a football.
" Uhh good that's great. I'm sure the boys will be excited." he smiled an award winning smile down at her and I couldn't help but feel jealous. I had no right to feel jealous, but I did. I think I was developing a huge crush on this guy.
" I'll umm see you tomorrow in calculus Cameron." I waved to him as I walked past him and speed walked to my drawing class. I vaguely heard him say wait, but I ignored it. There was no point a guy like him would never go for a girl like me.
Once I sat down at my seat in my drawing class I relaxed. I never liked crowds. There wasn't many people in this class, so I felt like I could just let go. like I didn't have to worry. There was also no one that judged. The teacher was cool. He was an older man in about his late 50's early 60's maybe. He mostly let us do whatever we wanted. He gave out the occasional project but it was never anything serious. He was a really down to earth guy. I liked him.
"Alright guys I'm just gonna let you have a free day. Think of something creative." he said then sat down in his chair and got on his computer.
I started by drawing the entire page black with charcoals. then started to erase a tall building with windows and lights and decorations. then I erased out stars in the sky for a background. by the time I had finished the bell was ringing.
I turned my paper in and exited the class room. " woah." I said as I almost ran into someone. " Sorry." I half smiled.
" Watch where your going." the girl spat. " Stay away from Cameron too. He's Kathys man." Then she shoved past me and bumped my shoulder.
I shook my head. I'd already gotten into one fight today I can't get into another one. Even if she really deserved it. Taking a deep breath I calmed myself down and walked away.
I cursed under my breath as I saw Olivia and her boyfriend Kent coming down the hallway towards me. To tell the truth Kent was the reason that I didn't like football. He was the captain of the team and he and his little jock friends always bullied me.
Kent was huge. He was only about 6 feet, the same height as Cameron, but Kent made up for it in bulk. I mean the guys arm was as big as my leg. Seriously he was a monster. He could probably knock me out with one hit. It was impossible not to be intimidated by him knowing that. That's why when he stopped in front of me and started to say rude comments, I kept my mouth shut and my head down. I'm sure that if I looked up at Olivia's face she would be smirking. Oh how I would love to slap that snarky little smirk off her face.
" Hey Kent why don't you pick on someone your own size?" I whipped my head up so fast that whiplash was deffinetly going to be plaguing me later. Cameron. He was coming to my rescue.
" What was that scout." Scout? I thought to myself. That must be his last name.
" I said why don't you pick on someone your own size." he said stepping up. I heard a chorus of yeas behind me. I turned and saw the whole basketball team standing there. I knew there was a reason I liked basketball.
" Well I would but there is no one my size." Kent folded his beefy arms and stood there with a smug look on his face.
" You wanna go Kent!? Outside right now." Cameron said. my eyes widened. He couldn't fight Kent. Kent was pure muscle. I started to panic. He was going to mess up Cameron's handsome face because of me.
" I will pummel you." Kent growled like those pro boxers do before a fight.
" I dunno, it's not football season. Your looking pretty out of shape." Cameron said and stepped forward a little. Olivia and all her little Barbie sluts behind her gasped and covered their mouths. I scoffed.
" That's it." Then Kent lunged at Cameron and sent him flying right at me. Oh shit. I thought to myself right as I was pulled out of the way while one of his teammates behind me caught him before he could hit the floor.
He looked at me and winked before he got back up and sent a quick punch to Kents face.
I soon realized that Kent was big and he had a lot of power behind him, but he was not in any sense fast. That was the only advantage Cameron had. He was tall, lean, and had muscle on him too. They were both bloody messes by the time the principal arrived and broke it up. There was blood running from both of their noses and mouths. It was rather gross, and yet Cameron still managed to look really attractive.
" I want both of you to get clean up then be in my office!" Principal Burnham yelled before storming off.
Cameron stumbled a little and I rushed to his side and put his arm around my shoulders to help support him.
I smiled softly at him " c'mon I'll help you get cleaned up." I said softly. He smiled and toothy/bloody grined down at me and I laughed.
Once we we're in the bathroom I told him to sit on the counter. he shuffled around awkwardly. " Why do we have to be in the girls bathroom."
I raised and eyebrow at him. "Really. Your a bloody mess, you probably have a broken nose, and your worried about being in the girls bathroom." I put my hands on my hips. He nodded sheepishly and looked down. Damn if that wasn't the cutest thing I ever saw. " You can lock the door if want." I stated as a compromise.
A relived smile overtook his face as he turned and locked the door, then came and sat down on the counter like I had asked him to.
I took my little bag of tissues out of my school bag and ran hot water over it. Carefully I dabbed at his cheek. I pulled back when he winced. " I'm sorry. Did I hurt you!"
He laughed weakly " no no. keep going."
I shakily returned my hand to his cheek and dabbed carefully. I was on my tippy toes and had my hand down next to his leg holding me up so that I was able to be tall enough to see his face. The closeness of our bodies made me nervous and twitchy.
" Thank you." He whispered.
I looked up into his eyes puzzled. " why are you thanking me? It should be me thanking you. You stood up for me. No ones ever done that for me but myself. So thank you." I smiled and looked down slightly embarrassed.
" Hey." He grabbed my chin and lifted it so I was looking up into his eyes again. " I'm happy to stand up for a beautiful girl like you."
I licked my lips, and his eyes trailed down my face to my now wet lips. Then he leaned in and looked into my eyes again. His lips molded to mine perfectly. The kiss was so soft and sweet. It was my first kiss, and it was mind blowing. He slid off the counter and his hands slid down to grip my hips. I smiled as he pulled me closer. Suddenly he flipped us around so that I was leaning against the counter and he was pushing me against it. I gasped and he took that as an invitation to slip his tongue gently into my mouth. That felt even better if possible. I ran my fingers through his soft hair and gently fisted it in the back. He moaned and lifted me up and placed me down on the counter and caressed my back with one hand while the other held my face.
I could have stayed like that forever if there hadn't been a loud knock that vibrated the door. " Hello. Is there someone in there." I jumped off the counter and stood next to Cameron. The pounding eventually stopped and I turned to look at him. He was smiling. That made me smile too, because even though his face was bruised and probably hurting. I made him smile.
" I have to go to the principals office, but can I have your phone number?"
I smiled " yeah." He handed me his phone and I typed in my name and number then handed it back to him.
I bit my lip while he stood there and scratched behind his neck nervously. " Sorry I'm not usually so nervous about these things." He dropped his hand back down to his side and took a deep breath.
" You don't have to be nervous you know." I said as I leaned against the counter.
" I know. I just really like you and.... oh what the hell. Will you go out with me on Friday."
I smiled big and nodded. "yes. Why would you be nervous to ask that I would obviously say yes."
He grinned and hugged me tight against him. I wrapped my arms around him. So warm was all I could think.
" I don't know." he laughed. "ok I really have to go. Burnham will be sending her minions to find me if I don't show up soon." I laughed at his reference to the other office ladies.
" Alright." I untangled myself from him. " I'll see you tomorrow then."
" Yea." he whispered and pecked me on the lips. " Tomorrow." Then he left. Leaving me with a tingly feeling running through my veins.
