Emily's POV

"Deklan, I have to go, I promised my sister lunch tonight!"

"Oh come on, stay. You promise your sister dinner every night since we got back." he whined, trying to pull me back on the couch. For the last hour I had been tolerating his mouth on mine as the sound of Fast and Furious played in the background, and I wanted nothing more than to get out of his disgusting embrace. The images of my scared brother popping into my head every time he kissed or touched me was making it even harder for me to carry on with the act.

"Well this time, Jordan will be there. It's girls day!" I exclaimed, pecking him one last time before running out of his house.

I drove silently back to the lair, my mind recalling the memory of last night. I had finally done what I had promised myself I would, I had opened up Logan Miller and figured out the reason why he was the way he was. I cringed at the mere thougt of his past, and suddenly, I pitied him. Logan Miller was a dangerous criminal, but on the inside he was as human as any other human. But the more deep I fell into the trap, the more I realised how wrong it would be to be with such a man. Focusing on the original mission, I walked into the lair, keeping my head high. Upon entering the coffee room, I squeaked by the sight in front of my poor innocent eyes. Larissa was sitting on the coffee table, Jack stood between her legs, as they sucked each other's faces. Now this was a sight I hoped I never had to see.

"Jesus Christ! My eyes! My eyes! Stop! Stop! Oh my god my eyes!" I backed away, covering my eyes.

"Emily? I'm so sorry! I didn't know you were there!" she exclaimed with an apologetic tone. I looked back slowly, finding Larissa off the table and Jack standing two feet away from her with his hands behind his back, looking down.

"Oh my god, I'm never going to get used to this. I think I need to puke." I turned around, walking out of the room, meeting Austin on the way to Logan's office.

"Ok please be honest, are they making out all the time?" I asked him as he approached me.

"Pretty much"

"Great" I cringed at the mental image "Where's Adam?"

"On a date with your friend Jordan"

"Oh perfect. So my sister dates one criminal, and my best friend the other. Fan-tastic" I replied sarcastically.

"Yet you don't seem to be doing anything about it"

"What am I supposed to do about it? Larissa is my older sister, I can't just tell her who to date. And as for Jordan, me telling her not to date Adam will only make her hate me. What can I do?"

"Well then maybe you should let whatever is happening happen. You know, it's kind of curious how your sister and best friend seem to be dating the people they want to, despite us being criminals, and you aren't." I froze at his statement. Why would he say that? He can't possibly know anything.

"W-what do you m-mean?" I stuttered, trying to get away with it.

"Don't play dumb with me Emily, I think it's pretty obvious what's happening between you and L-" I thanked the gods as he was suddenly interrupted Logan. I sighed of relief as he didn't get to finish his sentece.

"Emily, I need you to come with me." Austin smirked at me before dissappearing round the corner. I walked towards Logan and stopped before him.

"What's going on?" He stopped, his jaw clenched, as if he were mentally fighting himself on something. He then grabbed my wrist, dragging me out the lair. I didn't utter a word as he continued taking me to his car until after ten minutes of driving, I got really curious.

"Will you tell me where you're taking me?" His eyes lingered in my direction for a short second before they drifted back to the road.

"You'll see"

Soon, he parked outside a large gray building, but didn't exit the building. I looked at him as he stared at the building ahead of us. But still didn't move.

"Logan?" I called his name, successfully catching his attention. He looked back, then exited the vehicle as I did the same.

"Where are we?" he tucked his hands into his dress pants as he continued walking, ignoring my question. I followed, still not knowing where the hell we were. When we entered the building, I noticed the board on the wall. It was a rehabilitation center. I looked at Logan, who didn't look back as he walked ahead, dragging me through the passages of the interior, passing by many old people on the way. There were plenty of rooms in the building, each one had a small window in the center of the door. He stopped at one particular, Room 301. A young woman was inside. Her face looked exaclty like Logan's, except she had blonde hair that cascaded down to her shoulders. She held a brush in her hands and was facing a blank canvas. In that minute, I realised who she was.

"Is that your-"

"Mother" he finished for me. He nodded, his eyes still focused on his mother.

"She's so young" I commented.

"I see her every weekend. But I never dared to talk to her." he now leaned against the wall, facing me. "I don't even know why I brought you here. This was a bad idea, I'm sor-" I cut him off by knocking slowly on the door and pushing it open. Logan was about to protest, his eyes filled with worry, but I grabbed his hand, dragging him inside the room.

Her eyes snapped to us, and her eyes widened. We walked in slowly, closing the door behind us.

"Mrs Miller?" I questioned. Her eyes didn't move from Logan's as Logan stared at her. My doubt was a cleared a minute later when she spoke.

"Logan?" I looked back at Logan, who was as surprised as I was.

"You remember me?" He questioned in shock. Her eyes filled with tears as she dropped her paintbrush.

"How could I forget my son?" She stood up and walked slowly towards her son, I stepped out of the way.

"They said you had lost your memory-"

"It was only temporary. I regained my memory after five months" There was a minute of silence before I spoke up.

"I'll give you two some privacy" No one said anything as I slipped out.

Logan's POV

"How did you know it was me?" I questioned her. My mother. My own mother who I hadn't talked to since I was a little kid. She looked the same, except without dark bruises that would cover her body.

"You're my son Logan. I might have seen you as a kid last, but I will always remember what my boy looks like" She caressed my cheek with her delicate hands, and in that moment, I lost it. I bent down, hugging my mother close to me. She hugged me back, sobbing slightly on my shoulder.

I sat her down on the bed after we parted, her smile was back on her face, making her look more lively.

"How have you been mother?"

"I couldn't be happier. This place has given me peace, it has given me a reason to smile, and now that you're here, even the more reason to be happy."

"I missed you mother" her hand reached up to my face once again.

"I missed you too my boy. But look at you now, you've grown into such a handsome looking man" I smiled, my eyes suddenly snapping out of the door window, watching Emily as she played with the tips of her hair. "She's beautiful" I heard my mother comment as I my eyes popped back to hers. I couldn't help the smile that came to my face as I thought of her.

"She is" I agreed. But I knew I couldn't be with her. As much as I wanted to. It ached my heart to think the truth, but it was the truth.

"Then what's wrong?" she questioned, obviousley sensing my worry.

"I can't be with her" I replied. My mother smiled, holding my hand in between hers.

"Logan, I don't need you to tell me the reason why you can't be with her. Just know if you truly love her, there should not be any reason for you not to be with her. Remember that true love always wins, every time." I smiled, picking my mothers hand and kissing it as I hugged her once again.

"I love you mother" I said into her back.

"I love you too my boy" Guilt suddenly consumed me as I realised that I was her son, and I was a criminal. Her son was a criminal, a person who had done bad things to people. I finally realised that I was no different to my father. My mother thought I was good, but I wasn't. I was filled with bad, bad that I now saw in me. Bad that I now wanted to change. But it was too late.

I parted from my mother, bidding her goodbye before leaving the room. Emily looked back at me as I exited the room.

"How was it?" she questioned. I smiled, nodding my head.

"Amazing" I answered honestly. I looked back up to her "Thank you" She smiled. And that was the first time I had ever said those words to anybody. Only she could make me. Suddenly my phone buzzed in my pocket, I picked it out, looking at the caller ID; it was Adam.

"What?" I answered.

"We found out how to open the cell" My eyes widened and my smile faltered.

"We're on our way" Emily looked at me, still confused. "They found a way to save your brother"
