AN: Look at me, I'm on roll... 2 chapters in 2 days... it's the least I could do after 2 years. Thank you for all the comments and for voting

While she had been sleeping in his arms Lorenzo had laid there vowing to always do right by her and to always give her what she wanted no matter if it hurt him or not. Her threat last night had not been a hollow one, he had no doubt she would have shot any man he sent in the room. The gun had been fully loaded, cocked and ready. Had he pissed her off anymore than he already done she probably would have put a bullet in him.

The next morning Elena woke up still wrapped in Lorenzo's arms. It had been a long night for the both of them and neither were complaining on how it ended. Lorenzo had been the first to move, he placed a soft kiss to Elena's forehead then slid out from under her. Her hungry eyes watched as his naked body walked across the room to their bathroom.

She laid there long enough to hear the water running before climbing out of bed and following him in. When Elena walked in the bathroom, she found Lorenzo holding the shower door open for her with a smirk on his face. Lorenzo knew very well what she wanted when he saw her watching him walk away

After a very satisfying shower they both got dressed for the day. Knowing she did not want to be locked away for the day Lorenzo decided that Elena would spend the day with him. More than doubling up on the guards they went about his day. There were a few meetings and a couple of business stops he needed to make.

Things were going smoothly considering what happened the day before. Lorenzo met with Enzo and the few guys he still had in Miami with him. They talked about the ambush and what needed to happen. He had also stayed away from the restaurant the shooting happened at knowing it would be crawling with cops. Lorenzo let Tony handle the cops knowing he knew how. Then they would meet with him before going to the island they were currently renovating for a nightclub.

"Whenever you want to go back home just tell me." Lorenzo said as they climbed back in the SUV heading to another meeting he had. "I'm not going to make you spend the whole day with me if you do not want to."

"It's actually nice spending the day with you." Elena said leaning over to place a kiss on his jaw. "Can we take a walk on the beach when we get home?"

"That sounds like the perfect way to end our night." He smiled as he pulled her close wanting to hold her to his side. "We just have one more meeting then we meet with Tony and head to the island for a walk through, after that I'm all yours."

The next meeting had not gone the way he wanted it to go. The Gallo family was not happy with the war that was raging through Miami. Things were getting hot with the cops causing a lot of issues for all illegal businesses. Even though they knew Lorenzo had good reason for the war it did not sit well with the others. They just wanted it to end whether it was with Vargas' death or his own.

Elena had been waiting outside the office with Gino while Lorenzo was in the meeting. Things were still on shaky ground between them, but she had not been hostile towards him. He looked a little banged up and she was concern. She may have been mad at him but she was not heartless.

"Are you alright?" she asked, Gino glanced over at her a little shocked she spoke to him.

"I've had better days, but I'll be alright." He said with a small smile.

"Was it from yesterday?" she asked and he nodded. "No extra holes in the body?"

"No extra holes." He laughed lightly at her way of asking if he had been shot. "Just a lot flying debris and a tumble over a moving car."

"Why are you out?" she was completely shocked. "You need to rest."

"I will tonight when we get back to the compound." Elena shook her head and he just smirked.

An hour later Elena sat on a boat with the guys making their way to the island. It was a good distance from the mainland which was nice. Elena sat back watching as the guys joked around with each other. This was a side of them she had never got to see before. It was nice seeing them all relaxed even if it was just for the ride. Once they reached the island all of them had gone back into serious mode.

"It's getting dark so I want you to stay by my side." Lorenzo said as he held Elena's hand. "I'll bring you back during the day later in the week to really show you around."

"Ok." Elena said as he lifted their joined hands up to place a kiss on the back of her hand.

They walked around the lower level as Lorenzo explained what he wanted changed, he would look over to Elena asking for her opinion on things. He was almost tempted to level the building and start fresh. Just as they moved to the stairs to go up to the second level things took a turn for the worse.

Elena had just began going up with Lorenzo close behind her when shots rang out. Lorenzo knocked her down on the stairs covering her body with his as he pulled his gun firing back. As all the guys started shooting back Lorenzo pulled Elena to her feet again.

"Run." He screamed as he pushed her up the stairs then he fell forward again as he felt a bullet rip through his thigh. "Fuck!" he growled punching the stair with his fist as he climbed back to his feet and went up behind her.

When he reached the top Elena was standing there wide eyed not knowing where to go. Shots rang out throughout the building and he glanced down the stairs seeing one of his guys take a shot to the chest.

"Lorenzo?" she questioned trying to stay calm, but he could see her shaking body was anything but calm.

"I have to find a safe way out for you." Lorenzo said grabbing her hand and pulling her to follow him.

The wound to his leg hurt more with every step he took but he knew he could not stop. The upper level had several small rooms and one large opening for the second floor bar. Just as they were coming to the bar shots came from behind and Lorenzo pulled Elena in front of him as he returned the shots again. Glass was breaking all around them but she kept running with him.

She slowed for a second to kick her heels off before running again. They entered the bar area and he shoved her behind the bar then he went back to finish off the guy that was following them. Once he saw the guy fall Lorenzo hobbled back to Elena and sat next to her on the floor behind the bar.

There was two opening that led out of the bar from where they were and he was trying to figure out what he needed her to do. He could not stay hiding when his guys needed him, but he could not leave her alone either. Taking her with him was not an option either. By the sounds of the shots Lorenzo could tell that they were just about surrounded. Options were running low for him.

He quickly pulled his phone out, scrolling to Vinny's number as he leaned over placing a kiss to her temple. Once Vinny answer Lorenzo quickly told him what was going on and that he needed all available men to converge on the island. When he hung up he looked over at Elena, this was going to be the hardest part he had to do.

"Elena we are both not going to make it out of this." Lorenzo tried to calm his breathing, the bullet wound to his thigh was still bleeding pretty bad and it hurt like hell. "I'm going to draw them out and towards me, I want you to run. Get the hell out of this building then get as far away as you can."

"I am not leaving you." Elena snapped at him in a low voice. "You are not allowed to die; you cannot leave me."

"Sweetheart, I have to do this." Lorenzo shook his head, hoping she would listen. "I'm not letting you die like this."

"If you die... I die." Elena said looking into his eyes. "You want me to live then we both need to get out of here alive, that is the only way I will leave."

Just as Lorenzo was about to say something to her they heard Juan's voice echo through area they were in. "I know you're in here, Moretti. Your blood trail led me right to you." He said as he slowly walked through the second floor of the island nightclub. "How many more people do we have to lose before one of us gives up?"

Lorenzo nodded his head at Elena as he gave one of his guns over to her. He didn't want her anywhere near him when he revealed himself to Juan. Even though she was being stubborn he was not going to let her die. His only mission at that moment was to keep Juan's attention on him so Elena could at least get away from them.

He didn't want her unarmed when she left his side and that was the point of the gun he gave her. He nodded towards the opening and she nodded back at him. Lorenzo watched a few moments as she moved away from him and snuck out one of the side exits of the room. When he could not see her anymore he sucked in a deep breath, it was now or never.

"Just one more." Lorenzo growled as he stood up holding his gun steady on Juan.

"You killed my son, Moretti." Juan snapped at him.

"Your son kidnapped and assaulted my wife, he had to pay for that." Lorenzo growled. "You know very well that's how things work in our line of business. You would have done that same had it been your wife."

"And you would be doing what I am about to do." Juan yelled at him.

"The vicious circle of our life." Lorenzo said knowing what Juan said was true.

"I want an eye for an eye."

"Kind of hard to do that if I don't have a son." Lorenzo snapped at him.

"But if I kill that beautiful wife of yours then you never will... at least with her. I can settle for that seeing as she is the reason we are in this mess and my son is dead." Juan said with an evil laugh that reminded Lorenzo of Jacob Vargas.

"Your son is the reason we are in this mess, not my wife." Lorenzo seethed through clinched teeth. "His greed and obsession with her and my life is what got him killed."

"We are business men, Moretti. Let's make a business deal, I kill your wife as you had done to my son then you hand your empire over to me to make up for what you have done to mine and I'll let you live."

"Not going to happen, my wife... MY QUEEN is not dying tonight and most definitely will never die by your hand." Lorenzo growled at him. "You on the other hand will be dying."

"I think you're delusional, Moretti." Juan snapped at Lorenzo.

"In the next ten minutes this place will be crawling with my men." Lorenzo snapped at him as he shifted his weight off his wounded leg.

"You won't live long enough to see that." Juan said sarcastically as he noticed Lorenzo favoring the bleeding leg. "Unless of course you just tell me where your queen is hiding, I know she has to be near. You wouldn't let her out of your sight if you were smart."

"You're wrong... he will live, you won't." Elena growled from the side of Juan and he quickly looked over at Elena with wide eyes long enough to watch as she pulled the trigger on the gun she was holding aimed right at his head. "Join your son in hell."

Lorenzo screamed no, but it was too late she had pulled the trigger. He didn't want her to ever have someone's blood on her hands. He stood there with his eyes glued on Elena as she stood there watching as Juan's lifeless body fell to the ground. When she turned and her eyes locked with his, Lorenzo was shock to see that she did not look scared or upset about what she had just done.

The blood splatter across her angelic face killed him inside. The only thought going through his head was that he needed to get to her. He quickly limped his way towards her but couldn't keep the weight on his leg any longer. When Elena noticed he was about to fall she dropped the gun and quickly ran to his side letting him lean on her.

"Are you ok?" she asked.

"I'm fine, are you ok?" he asked trying to hold as much of his own weight as he could.

"We are both alive." Elena said looking up at him as they walked over to one of the chairs so he could sit down.

"I know but you just..." he began to say.

"Killed a man." She said finishing what he was about to say and he grunted. "I killed the man that wanted to kill me just to hurt you... I killed the man that wanted to kill the man I love." Elena said sternly to him as he pulled her to stand between his legs. "I will always stand by your side through anything, if they want you dead then I want them dead. Your Queen needs her King."

Lorenzo looked up at Elena and saw her in a new light. He had all he ever wanted, his queen would always stand tall next to him through anything and he would all in his power to protect her. Reaching up Lorenzo held her face gently as he pulled her lips to meet with his own. They kissed softly for a moment before he pulled back and used the sleeve of his shirt to wipe the blood from her face.

"Sweetheart, we are still not in the clear." Lorenzo glanced around the room. "Juan's men are still out there." They both heard the faint gunshots that were not close but were definitely in the building. "I don't know who on our side is still alive out there and I need to find out."

"Tony and Gino have to still be alive." Elena said shaking her head, she refused to believe otherwise.

"I'm sure they are but I can't stay in here knowing our men are fighting out there." Lorenzo said as he pushed her back a little so he could stand up again. "I'm going out there." He said limping over to her discarded gun and picked it up. "You hide behind that bar and if anyone that you don't know comes in here you kill them, I don't care who it is. You keep yourself alive, that is all that matters to me."

"No!" she snapped at him. "I told you..." she started to say but he cut her off.

"This time I'm saying no." Lorenzo said sternly. "I will not have you out there fighting a war that I started and I have to end."

"But..." she began saying only to get cut off again.

"Elena, you are staying here that's the end of this." He snapped at her.

Lorenzo grabbed Elena's hand and pulled her to the bar, he walked her around it then kissed her lips softly. He pushed her down towards the ground and handed her the gun he picked up. Elena nodded her head as she took the gun from him and he limped away. Elena didn't want that to be last time she laid eyes on Lorenzo or felt his lips touch hers. She stood there listening to the gunshots that were ringing through the unfinished nightclub. Lorenzo had been right he did start this war but Elena knew she was the reason it started, that part Juan had right.

After what felt like hours of listening to gunshots and screams, which probably was only minutes, Elena stood on her feet. She glanced around the room she was in and sucked in a deep breath. Elena looked down at her bare feet and had wished to hell that she had wore flats instead of heels. She glanced across the floor to assess the broken glass but her eyes landed on Juan's lifeless body. His death should have ended this war but Juan's men weren't going to go out so easy.

Elena was snapped from her moment of daze when a gunshot echoed through the room she was in. She looked over to see Gino standing near the doorway slowly lowering the gun in his hand and few feet in front of him another man's body was laying lifeless. When her eyes went back to Gino he was walking towards her in a hurry.

"Where's Lorenzo?" Gino asked glancing around, he knew they had run off together. "That man was about to kill you."

"Lorenzo went back out there after I killed Juan, he went to find you guys." She said softly.

"You did what?" Gino said thinking he heard her wrong.

"He was going to kill Lorenzo and I wasn't going to let that happen." Elena said pointing towards Juan's body. "It was him or us."

"Alright, we gotta move." Gino said to her in a low voice as he grabbed her hand. "Stay behind me, I have to get you out of this building, that is what Lorenzo would want."

"I'm not leaving him." Elena said shaking her head. "We have to find Lorenzo first."

"Elena, we have men inbound to help." Gino turned to face her and saw the tears coming down her cheeks. "Alright, we'll go find Lorenzo together. Don't make me regret this, don't get shot and don't shoot me."

Elena nodded her head and Gino closed his eyes for a moment as he sucked in a deep breath. Gino knew what he was about to do was going to have her hating him, but her safety had to be his number one concern. He had to let her think they were going to search for Lorenzo when in reality he was getting her the hell out of there.

They exited the room; Elena was close behind Gino's back holding the gun in her hand tightly and ready. Gino walked slowly along the wall trying to watch the front of him all while still glancing behind to make sure no one crept up on them. The gunshots were beginning to become far and between but they were also getting closer. Getting down the stairs and out the building was going to be the hardest part.

When they got to the stairs Gino placed Elena between his body and the wall as they went down. He kept his gun raised and ready to fire as they slowly made their way down. They were just a couple steps from the bottom when a guy quickly came around the corner and Gino shot him before he could raise his own gun.

When they hit the last step Gino grabbed her hand gripping it tightly in his knowing she would try to pull away when he went for the exit of the building. He peered around the corner and seeing it empty, he looked back her and mouthed 'let's go' before pulling her towards the exit.

As he had expected she tried to pull away but he didn't let go and he got them out of the building, but he didn't stop there he kept going, dragging her away from the building. She tried her hardest to free her hand as she smacked his arm. He did not let up one bit until they were far enough and near the water front behind the building.

One more little note there is just one more chapter in this story... I hope to have it up in a few days
