The next morning when Lorenzo awoke the conversation with Elena the night before was still on his mind. No matter how much he tried to shake it he couldn't and the more he thought about it the more it pissed him off knowing her heart had belonged to another man. What made things worse was that he didn't know if she still loved the guy. Climbing out of the bed Lorenzo went to get ready for the day, knowing he wasn't leave the grounds unless he had to do so he opted to stay causal and not bother with a suit. Once he was showered and dressed Lorenzo ran his fingers through his hair as he walked out the room.

When he arrived in the kitchen for his morning coffee the staff quickly began moving around at the sight of him except one. "Morning sweetheart." Sara said as she looked up from the newspaper she was reading.

"Morning." He said as she moved towards the coffee pot and began pouring a cup for him. Sara and Martin had both been working with Lorenzo's family since he was born. When his parents went back to Italy they both opted to stay on with him in Miami. "What time does my wife normally come down for breakfast?"

"Mrs. Moretti has not eaten breakfast since she was moved in here." Sara said as she handed him the mug. "Lorenzo I don't think your wife is much of morning person. Ms. Angel said that Mrs. Moretti's appetite hasn't been well since coming here."

"Have Martin make her a healthy breakfast then have Diane take it up to her room." Lorenzo said as he started to leave the room. Diane's eyes had gone wide as she looked over at Sara, Lorenzo noticed the reaction and stopped. "Is there a problem?"

"No Mr. Moretti, there is no problem." Diane said with a nervous voice as she quickly walked away.

"Sara?" Lorenzo said in a questioning voice as he raised his eyebrow at her wanting the truth.

"Diane thinks that Mrs. Moretti doesn't like her very much." She said with a smile. "Poor girl is scared of your wife more than the men around here."

Lorenzo couldn't help the laugh that escaped his lips, he knew Elena's attitude was bad and knowing the staff was scared of her more than his men was a bit funny to him. The story of her shooting her own bodyguard probably didn't help any either. It may have been out of fear and self-defense but that didn't change the fact that it did happen and the gossip spread like wildfire through the compound staff. Gino had explained to him the day before that most of the times Elena snapped at the staff after they had scared her out of her wits.

"Sara can you take it to her for me?" Lorenzo asked with a sweet smile hoping she would.

Sara looked at the boyish smile on his face that he had used on her since he four years old. "Are you sure we should bother her?" Sara asked with a raised eyebrow and he just nodded his head. "Alright I'll do it."

"Thanks." He said still smiling at her. "You know you're my favorite."

"You have said that to me since you were able to talk." She said smiling back as he walked away.

Lorenzo went to his office to find Tony already sitting in there on the sofa talking on his phone. Listening to the conversation as he moved to his chair Lorenzo knew it was about Elena and what he wanted to know. Tony snapped at whoever he was on the phone with and Lorenzo raised his eyebrow as he sat down. After exchanging angry words both coming out in English and Italian Tony ended the call. He dropped his phone down on the sofa next to him while letting out an irritated breath.

"Well?" Lorenzo questioned as he sat back in his chair taking a sip of his black coffee. "Did you get me a name?"

"No one is being privy with the information we want." Tony huffed out sounding even more irritated as he ran his hands down his face. "Antonio is acting as if this is the first time he's fucking hearing of it. Maybe we should just ask Elena who it is. If she told you about the dude, then she should tell you his name."

"Not an option." Lorenzo said shaking his head, the last thing he wanted was Elena knowing that she struck a chord with him. "Shake up a few of Russo's guys, someone will fucking break."

"Antonio won't be happy about that." Tony said smirking at his friend.

"When has that ever bothered me." Lorenzo said as he leaned forward on his desk. "I'll deal with him."

"Is there a reason you want to know who it is?" Tony asked as he sat back and picked his phone back up. "This is not like you... why do you care? You got the girl in the end."

"Why is it so damn shocking to everyone that I fucking care?" Lorenzo snapped at him.

"Hey... I didn't mean it like that, I know you care about her."

"Find out who the hell it is then I want to see him."

Tony nodded his head and got up leaving Lorenzo alone in his office. He wasn't exactly happy to have Lorenzo's jealous side rearing its face when so much was already going on. He was still trying to find out who attempted to take Lorenzo out and now he had to find who this mystery guy is. Once he crossed paths with Gino Tony pulled him to the side then told him to go find Angel or Cora and find out what they knew about the guy. Elena may not have been an option to him but Lorenzo never said her sisters were off limits.

When Elena woke up she laid there in the bed thinking about the conversation she had with Lorenzo the night before. She didn't know why she had even told him about Dante and was beginning to regret it. She could have easily just told him there had been a couple of guys and left it at that but she didn't. Having Lorenzo interested in anything about her had thrown her thinking completely off. They had never talked about anything personal before and now she was worried he would dislike her even more now that he knew something about her past.

Elena hadn't seen Dante in almost two years, she told him it was best for both of them if they stood away from each other. When she first told Dante that her father was forcing her to marry Lorenzo Dante had begged her to runaway with him but she couldn't bring herself to do it. The year that followed he had found little ways to see her and after she married Lorenzo he had still not given up. Once she told him that he had to stop Dante got mad at her and said things that broke her heart the last time they saw each other.

Elena was broken from her thoughts when there was knock at her door. She quickly sat up in the bed and looked towards the door. "Mrs. Moretti are you awake?" she heard the elder voice call out.

"Come in." Elena said softly and Sara open the door and backed in the room while carrying a breakfast tray with her. "What is this?" Elena asked wondering why Sara brought that with her considering she hasn't eaten breakfast since moving in.

"Lorenzo said to bring you breakfast." She said adjusting the tray on the small table in her room. "He asked me what time you normally woke for breakfast and I explained you didn't eat it."

"But you brought it anyways."

"Lorenzo insisted you eat and well Diane was afraid of waking you so he sent me up." Sara said as she moved about Elena's room straightening it up while Elena walked over to the table. "You seem to be in high spirits this morning, did you sleep well?"

"Yes, thank you for asking." Elena said with smile as she looked over the food. "I'm going to wash up then I'll eat." Elena said as she walked towards the bathroom.

"Alright sweetie, just call downstairs when you're done and someone will retrieve the tray." Sara said with a smile as she went to leave and Elena went into the bathroom.

After washing up Elena sat at the table and picked at the food on the tray. Not feeling very hunger she gave up and went to shower. Once she was dressed Elena lifted the tray and took it back downstairs to the kitchen placing it on the counter. Sara glanced over at Elena and when she noticed the food on the tray she gave her sad smile.

"Was there something wrong with the food?" she asked softly as she walked over to Elena. "I can make you something else."

"No, I just wasn't very hungry."

"Maybe you'll be a little hungrier at lunch." She said with a smile as she took the tray.

"I'll let you know. Thank you." Elena said with a small smile as she left the kitchen.

Glancing around the house as she walked the placed still seemed quiet so she decided to take advantage of that and went to the library to read. After grabbing her book Elena went and lounged on the sofa. She missed the peacefulness of the other house, the guards weren't around all day long and she didn't have staff all over the place scaring her half to death. Life had seemed simple there even though she knew it wasn't and it was just a façade. Elena wasn't naïve she knew her life wasn't normal and never would be but the times it felt like it was she enjoyed it.

Lorenzo had been in his office for a few hours taking calls and making calls. When he glanced over at the clock he was surprised no one had come into the office once since Tony left. His threat must have been still sitting on all of their minds from last night. With a chuckle he stood up and stretched as he walked out and saw Sara walking through the foyer.

"Did Elena eat?" he asked and Sara stopped walking turning to him with a forced smile. The look alone told him all he needed to know. "Where is she now?"

Looking down at her watch first to see the time. "Mrs. Moretti is either in the library reading or out for a jog on the grounds but I'm sure she's in library." Sara said looking back up with a small smile.

"Can you make lunch and bring it in there?" he asked and Sara was about to open her mouth but he stopped her. "I don't care what Elena has already told you, just bring our lunch to the library."

"Alright sweetheart." Sara said as she went to the kitchen to tell Martin.

Just as he made it to the stairs he was interrupted. "Mr. Moretti." Lorenzo turned to the guy and nodded his head for him to continue. "Tony informed me to let you know that he had got word about the hit and left to get the intel and would be back soon."

"Alright." Lorenzo said as he nodded again and turned back to the stairs.

Lorenzo ran his fingers through his hair and went to go up the stairs but was stopped before he was even halfway up. "Hey boss." Vinny said coming into the foyer.

"What's up Vin?" Lorenzo asked as he turned watching Vinny walk towards him. "Sal was able to pull up some images of a few vehicles that were in the area the night you were shot."

"Alright you and Sal meet me in my upstairs office in an hour." Lorenzo said as he turned back towards the stairs and went up.

Just as he reached the top another one of the guys called out to him from downstairs. "Hey boss."

Lorenzo sucked in a deep breath and released it as he turned towards the guy. "What?"

"Bobby call and wanted to know what you wanted to do about the Mercedes?"

"Is it at the warehouse still?" Lorenzo asked and the guy nodded his head. "Just leave it, I don't want anyone doing anything with it."

"But..." he began to say and Lorenzo reached his end.

"You heard what I fucking said." Lorenzo snapped at him and turned to walk again just as someone else called his name. "No!" he snapped not bothering to see who it was as he continued walking.

Just the simple task of going up to talk with Elena had turned into a difficult one once he walked out of the sanctuary of his office. Being in the mansion full time now was going to take some adjusting. Lorenzo was used to being able to leave there and go home where he did have time to himself and no one bothered him unless it was dire. When he finally reached the library he opened the door and went in.

Elena looked up from her book when she heard the door open and was surprised to see Lorenzo walking in. "I didn't know you were still here." Elena said as she sat up closing her book while Lorenzo walked over to the sofa she was on and sat down next to her.

"I do most of my business from here, I'll be around a lot." Lorenzo said as he leaned back against the sofa.

"Oh." She said in an unsure voice.

"You don't sound so happy about me being around more." Lorenzo said as he rolled his head to look at her.

"I didn't mean for it... it's not like..." she didn't know what to say in response to him and was happy when there was a knock on the door that interrupted their conversation.

"Come in." Lorenzo called out and the door opened.

"Hey boss..." the guy began to say and Lorenzo stopped him.

"Is Tony back?" he asked and the guy shook his head no. "Is someone dead?" again the guy shook his head no. "Is one of my businesses on fire or under attack?" again the guy shook his head no. "I'm trying to have a conversation with my wife, can this wait a fucking hour?"

"Yeah boss." The guy said quickly backing out of the room.

Someone began to walk in before the door closed again and Lorenzo was about to snap again but stopped himself when he saw Diane bringing in a tray of food. "What is this... I didn't ask for anything?" Elena said shaking her head at the timid maid as she started to stand.

"Mrs..." Diane began to say but Lorenzo cut her off as he also placed his hand on Elena's thigh applying enough pressure to keep sitting.

"I had it sent up." Lorenzo said looking over at Elena then at Diane. "Place it on the table and leave us."

"Yes sir." Diane said quickly doing as she was asked then left.

When the door closed Lorenzo looked back over at Elena. "You didn't eat your breakfast so now you're going to eat lunch."

Lorenzo stood up and grabbed Elena's hand and lightly pulled her towards the table pulling out the chair for her to sit on. Not wanting to fight she sat down and watched as he pulled the chair out next to her and sat down. The two sat there and talked about random things as they ate lunch. No one knocked or attempted to bother them the whole time they were in there. Before Lorenzo got up to leave Elena had told him she had made plans to go out to dinner with her friend Lauren later that night. She explained to him that Lauren was going to be driving them and she had preferred not to have any guards. Lorenzo was reluctant on agreeing but gave in.

Once Lorenzo got to his office Tony had arrived with some good news for him. It had not been the name he was hoping for but they did find out who the mole was that tipped off whoever setup a hit on him. Then he found out that he needed to make a couple of personal visits to a few of his clubs. With his day filling up pretty quick Lorenzo wasn't upset Elena was leaving but having her completely without a guard still didn't sit well with him.

At around seven that evening Lauren picked Elena up and the girls went to the restaurant for a few drinks and dinner. After dinner was done they had opted to stick around and have a few more drinks. They talked mostly about Lauren's planned trip to Paris and what she was going to do out there. A couple of hours after sitting there a couple of guys had walked up to their table.

"Hello ladies." One of them said sweetly and Lauren smiled at him.

"Hey guys." She said flirting and Elena rolled her eyes while shaking her head. "I'm Lauren and this is my friend Elena."

"I'm Kevin and this is Tommy." He said smiling at her. "We noticed you two sitting her drinking alone and figure we should come say hi."

"How much longer will you two be hanging around?" Tommy asked smiling at them.

"Not long." Elena said quickly.

"Don't mind her... we'll be here for at least a few more drinks." Lauren said waving Elena off.

The guys stood there holding small talk with Lauren and Elena sat there quietly wishing she drove herself now. This wasn't how she had planned the night to have gone and sure as hell didn't want it to be this way. All she wanted was one night out without having to look over her shoulder wondering if she was being watched. When she heard the guy offer to buy them drinks she shook her head no but Lauren told him yes.

"Lauren what the hell are you doing?" Elena seethed at her closest friend in a low voice as the two guys walked away.

"I am just getting us a couple of free drinks." Lauren said like it was obvious. "It's not like I invited them to sit with us."

"If Lorenzo or any of his men even think I am talking to any of these guys they will lose their damn mind."

"You said yourself many times that you're not happy with him." Lauren snapped at her in a low voice. "What is the harm in a little flirting? Maybe you'll find another man you could be happy with."

"You have no idea what harm that would cause." She snapped back at her as the men began walking back towards them. "I'm going to the restroom... find a way to get rid of them before I get back."

Elena quickly stood up and excused herself with a small forced smile, she was beginning to forget what it felt like to have a genuine smile grace her own face. One of the guys had tried to escort her to the restroom but she was quick to say no thank you and left before he could protest. Lauren shot a glare in Elena's direction but she just ignored it and continued to walk away from them. She glanced around the restaurant hoping that Lorenzo didn't have her followed even though he said he wouldn't, none of the faces she saw looked familiar so she breathed a sigh of relief. Elena didn't even want to imagine how Lorenzo would react if he had seen her with those guys.

Lorenzo, Gino and Tony had stood to the shadows watching on as the two men talked with Elena and her friend. When the guys walked away from the table Elena leaned into Lauren saying something but none of them could hear or see what they were talking about considering their backs were to the men. Feeling the anger quickly building up in him was driving him to a place he had hope to never be with her. When he got the call not long ago telling him that two men approached her they had been only a few streets over. The three of them quickly got there and the sight he saw was his breaking point. Watching as the men cozied up to his wife had him seeing red and his hand itching to pull his gun right there.

When Lorenzo saw her walking towards the restroom he looked over at Gino. "Let that bitch know Elena will not be returning." He growled in a low voice then followed behind her watching as she went in.

Gino walked over to the table the three people were sitting at and pulled out the chair Elena had been sitting in. The two men glared at Gino while Lauren at him with wide eyes knowing exactly who he was. Gino unbuttoned his suit coat and leaned forward on the table letting it fall open enough to reveal the holstered guns he had. He knew exactly how to handle the situation and planned on doing it quietly.

"If either of you come within fifty feet of Elena Moretti again I will make sure both of you get a Italian necktie courtesy of Lorenzo Moretti." He seethed in a low voice, he knew the men would recognize the name and know he meant business then he slowly looked over at Lauren. "Elena left with her husband and won't be returning, I suggest you not call for a while."

Not bothering to explain any further Gino stood up and smiled at all of them as he re-buttoned his suit coat and walked away. The two men a had looked like they had shit in their pants and Gino enjoyed it. This was the part of the job he enjoyed the most and fed off the fear that he was easily able to instill on them. Unlike Rob Gino didn't take his job lightly and knew his life depended on keeping her safe.

Tony had fallen in step right behind Lorenzo knowing he need to stay close. "I'll be right outside the door, try not to take too long we got that other thing to finish."

"I know." Lorenzo stood outside the restroom door a few moments then sucked in a deep breath before pushing it open roughly scaring both Elena and the two women that happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. "Out!" he snapped at them and they quickly scurried out the restroom almost hitting Tony on the way out.

"Lorenzo... what are you doing here?" Elena said in a stunned voice as she turned to face her worse nightmare.
