His arm dropped quickly as though her skin was scorching hot, a shocked look on his face. When his eyes locked on her frightened ones, he felt another stab as she took a step backwards, her arm clutching her opposite upper arm where he had just hurt. Even he could tell she was afraid of him and he had no clue how to fix this.

He dropped to his knees, lowering his head as he had observed a sign animals did around their own to show they are of no harm, his intimidating figure no long posing as much as a threat. Evelyn stopped, her wide eyes staring at him as her heart beat raced frantically.

She couldn't just turn around and leave, it was a long walk from the cliff and she was sure to get lost out there all by herself. So she just stood there.

Slowly, Angus shuffled his body closer and closer to hers at a very slow pace careful not to scare her but he wanted the addicting feeling of warmth and happiness back and for him to forgive her. It didn't take long for him to reach Evelyn's frozen body and gently he lifted his arms and placed them on her hips, his face falling forwards so his cheek was resting on her soft stomach.

"I sorry," he muttered loud enough for her to hear him. Angus felt tense also as he was met with silence, only the sound of nature playing in the background. His body relaxed however, when he felt a small, delicate touch in his hair. His body melted into her still stiff one, the gentle massage of her fingers threading through knotted hair, a comforting soft touch he loved.

"It's okay." She said softly, unknowing once again on what to do in this bizarre situation. After a few minutes passed, her hand movement passed and she retrieved her hand.

A low growl came from Angus as he immediately missed the soothing touch. Evelyn didn't understand what she had done wrong and she took a small step backwards, an action Angus didn't approve of.

His dominant side arose as he gently grabbed her hand and pulled her back, rising to his feet as he placed her hand back into his hair, her shorter frame only reaching the ends of his hall falling around his shoulders. Finally understanding, Evelyn watched with amazement as Angus closed his eyes, a relaxing sigh leaving his parted lips from her soft actions. An unexpected movement led to him pressing his lips to her cheek softly, an action he had once again see animals in their kingdom perform to show love.

Evelyn halted, frozen in her tracks.

This man was unpredictable. She sensed no real physical threat from him and maybe that was why she was so foolish to follow him here. But there was the unknown factor what she only realized now was a problem to her health and safety. Clearly to Evelyn, Angus has never been around humans for a long, long time so he doesn't know boundaries and morals like the rest of society does. He invades her personal space and also does small actions like the kiss which may be deemed normal for some, but her family raised her to believe against it.

He had no clue what he was doing right or wrong, his actions and behaviors clearly observed from nature as he knew how to appear less intimidating but become dominant when his way wasn't approached.

She looked up at his tall frame, her eyes locked on his once again. He looked puzzled as to why she reacted that way to his sign of affection and felt offended where Evelyn just stood in shock.

"You stay?" He questioned her, worry in his eyes he may be rejected and be forced to protect her by sheer power, something he doesn't want to subside to but will if necessary.

"Will you stay." Evelyn replied, correcting his grammar. If she was going to stay for a small while later and potentially return home with Angus so he can take up a civilized, tame life then he would need the basics in the English language. She was by no means making fun of his punctuation but felt as though she should help him get back to his feet.

When Angus cocked an eyebrow wondering why she had just repeated his question Evelyn knew he was confused.

"When you ask if I will stay, say will you stay." She said, feeling stupid as she didn't know why the English language uses the work will. "It implies it's a question."

"Implies?" He asked. A small smile fell onto Evelyn's lips as he couldn't comprehend some of the words she used. She found it adorable how such a strong, intimidating man could appear so innocent and harmless in the basics of understanding.

"Means," she suggested instead of implied. She watched as he thought about it for a moment and when he smiled she knew he understood now. With the debacle cleaned up, her eyes wondered to the amazing structure in front of her and she stared at it with awe.

"Will you want to see it?" He asked, proud he remembered to say will to imply a question and even emphasized the word in hopes of recognition.

She stifled a giggle, thinking just how difficult teaching him the language would be but a part of her was up for the challenge, loving the thought of partaking in helping this man. She let him be and didn't correct him to save his pride and to allow him to believe he was wrong. Evelyn was just thrilled that he listened to her, showing that maybe this man was in no way dangerous to her.

"I'd love to." She smiled up at him. He mirrored her smile with one of his own, his teeth surprisingly clean and only a tiny bit crooked. He hesitantly took her hand in his and loved how she didn't pull away, and begun leading her over to the bridge.

He was glad that only a few weeks ago he decided to remake and reinforce the bridge, making it safer so it wouldn't fall apart and was safe for Evelyn to cross. Angus had learnt the hard way that every month or so a new bridge needed to be put up because from the constant use they wear out. One day he had fallen through as the vines holding it all together snapped, and he plummeted into the water below. Thankfully his father had taught him how to swim and he could make it back to climb the cliff however he landed on a rock and hurt his shoulder for a few months, making survival that much more challenging.

Just to be sure, his large hands were placed either side of her waist and he walked close behind her as they crossed. Evelyn's steps were stiff as she showed her slight fright, the bridge having no support rails at the side and the suspended bridge giving her an unsteady balance.

Her heart was once again racing as she crossed, the ten meter bridge wobbly and unstable. Glancing behind her, Angus was already looking at her with encouraging eyes as though he knew how difficult this was for her clumsy self. However throwing her head back made her loose balance as she stumbled back, a scream piercing through the air as her body fell.

The scream was gut wrenching for Angus as he quickly swooped into save her, his reflexes all that much quicker from living out in the wild.

Evelyn let out a small whimper as she gasped for air, shock coursing through her body. Her hand had a death like grip on Angus' hands securely gripping around her waist, putting more pressure on so he wouldn't let go. She didn't want to fall.

The water below them was a least a fifteen meter drop and she could even see some rocks gutting out from the edges of the bank, making the fall even more deadly. Her hands were shaking as adrenaline coursed through her, her breaths coming out jaggered and loudly.

Angus hated seeing her like this, so effortlessly he scooped her up to his arms and carried her across just as he would with a deer he caught for meat on the special occasion. Her arms wrapped tightly around his neck and she closed her eyes as she pressed herself even closer into his body trying to calm herself down.

Angus bathed in the close proximity of her, the soothing and calming feeling giving him the sense of purpose once again. His hand tightened on her as he pulled her in closer to himself. All too soon he stepped off the bridge but didn't put her down. Instead he kept on walking straight to the stairs he helped his father build all those many years ago and walked up them eventually leading to the wooden box perched on the thick tree branch high off the ground to stop any prowling predators from attacking him in his sleep.

The only nuisance was the monkeys.

Evelyn wasn't placed down yet as they entered the box, still tightly wrapped in Angus arms as she peered around in awe. The wooden box made from a bunch of small tree trunks bound by vines was small, a cozy place for him to live by himself. In the far corner was large, bright green leaves and dry grass wrapped up creating what Angus though was a comfortable mattress. In the corner was a small hole cut from the ground with what looked like a makeshift pulley, a bucket and a rope leading down to somewhere.

A poorly yet intriguing shelf was in another corner, with spears and sharpened rocks and lassoes all piled messily into the corner and Evelyn automatically assumed they were for hunting.

She was fascinated. How could someone living so far off civilization live like the rest of them in poorer conditions without any knowledge of the real world?

"Angus," she murmured, so many questions and compliments to the home running through her mind but not being able to be verbalized.

With reluctance when Evelyn squirmed in his hold, he gently lowered her to the ground with a grim expression as her hands unwound from his neck. Very slowly her touch left him and she walked to where the pulley was to settle her curiosity.

Angus appeared fine with her looking around as he stood just in front of the door and looked at her with an intensity trying to determine if she like it here or if he had to change it to fit her likings.

As she neared the hole, Evelyn peered down it and saw a large body of water covered in massive green leaves with a bucket on the end. This is his water source, she thought.

The pulley when raised could sit inside the room and flapping down and outside the home was a rough square to close to keep the door closed when it wasn't in use. Her eyes traveled over to the self and she went investigating there next.

All different shaped sized rocks sharpened to penetrate and wound was messily littered on the top shelf and picked one up. The stone was very large and she struggled to fit it on her hand. The top of this one was slightly blunt and the top was stained in a dark red, indicating it was a hunting weapon. She placed it back down noticing most were stained in the dark red, including the spears next to her. Her hand ran over the sticks of them, them too carved into a circular handle with stones attached to the top with vines.

"Wow," she said to herself and next moved to the bed.

It really was a poor excuse of a bed and empathy for Angus rose inside her. He was living in horrible condition yet has somehow managed to survive in a luxurious condition for a jungle. The bed however was thin and dry grass the resembled hay stuck out from underneath the large green leaves. What surprised her was the old, scrappy blanket resting on top. Somehow, he had contact with other humans at one stage in his life, she decided but didn't question about it.

She spun back around and gasped when Angus was standing right behind her, almost next to no space separating them. He had moved with suck skill and quietness that she hadn't heard him sneak up on her until now.

"Will you like it?" He questioned her with a nervous expression.

"Do," she mumbled under her breath but he picked up on it.

"Do you like it?" The question now wasn't on her thoughts but on whether or not his grammar was correct. She nodded her head and smiled at him, wild butterflies in her stomach at his interest to please and learn and she repeated the question.

"It's amazing, Angus." She gushed. "I don't understand how you knew how to build this stuff. It's like back home, only more jungle like."

The whole sentence didn't make sense to Angus but he understood she liked his home and that she was amazed at how he had built it.

"Me, been here, long time." He shrugged, his cheeks tinting pink from modestly making Evelyn coo at his innocence. Angus wondered why he felt his face heating up and placed a hand on his cheek in question, confusion running through his mind.

"It's okay Angus," Evelyn said with a grin as she peered up at him. "That's perfectly normal." She couldn't comprehend how fantasy yet realistic situation was.

All she wanted to do was travel to an island in the middle of the ocean to investigate the flora and fauna. Her and her father had been trying for years to get the grant to allow the research and now that it finally was accepted, she found a man living her whom she could converse with.

It was surreal and an experience Evelyn knew she would never forget, not even one moment of it.

Okay, so I've gotten a few questions about the ages of the characters and thought I'd clear it up.

Angus is currently 26. He was shipwrecked at birth, and lived with his parents on the island until he was 13. After their death, he lived alone by himself for another 13 years before Evelyn comes along :)

I throw a few numbers out there, so it can get confusing but Angus is 26, and Evelyn is 23. Angus is not 16, he is a full grown man with facial hair (even though I forgot to describe that on him), real muscles (not that tiny thin arms and legs but strong muscular body). He also remembers some English as that's what his parents spoke, but he is VERY rusty. Once he starts leaning it, it all comes back to him :)

Other than that, enjoy :)
