Oh my wow, I'm so sorry.
Also, sorry. I watched the Titanic.
Evelyn could tell he was uncomfortable just by glancing at him.
The usual men on the expedition were normal with him, small conversations and very understanding of his slight language barrier, however the other staff were not. Right now, the maid, Melissa, was talking to Angus at a much quicker, over excited pace. She was explaining her life ambitions from dropping out of university, but Angus was having a hard time keeping up with her fast pace.
He was sat on the other end of the small dining area of the boat, opposite ends to Evy. Evelyn was wrapped up in conversation with the lady captioning the boat and couldn't find a polite way to dismiss the conversation to talk to Angus. She noticed the way he couldn't even hold attention to her and whenever she glanced over at him, she was always met with his brown eyes already looking playfully at her. If she was lucky, he would pull a face at her causing her to blush, her cheeks heating up as she tried to contain her laugh.
"Anyways dear, you enjoy your stay tonight." The lady finally said after fifteen minutes of talking. "I have a boat to guide and you have some research to look over." With a quick goodbye, Evelyn raced over to Angus. As soon as she was near, Angus stood up, wiping off Melissa completely and walked to Evelyn with not even a glance back at the confused girl.
"Angus," Evelyn scolded him. "You don't just leave people like that." She had already noticed from the small time he had been around people, his actions had appeared on the rude side but she couldn't blame him, they are understandable.
"But Gus, I was not understanding her." He said, his eyebrows furrowed as he tried to see what was wrong leaving something that was uninteresting to him. He had only sat there and listened to this Melissa talk about god knows what while as he waited for Evelyn to finish her conversation with the lady.
"That's fine Gus, but in the future don't walk away from people. It can be rude." Evelyn hated telling him society's morals like this. He was kind and courteous, just not in the way society wants him to be. He held doors open for her, he smiled (even though it was sometimes forced) to those who waved or greeted him, he paid attention most of the time and he always made everyone smile, however from his lack of concentration sometimes he appeared rude and somewhat cocky.
"Sorry," Evelyn peered around Angus tall frame to Melissa. "He didn't mean anything personal about it." Evelyn couldn't help but apologize to the girl who looked slightly red and awkward, wondering why Angus had just abruptly walked away from her. Melissa knew of the basic story of him being shipwrecked and this was his first time in civilization from what they knew and how he and Evelyn adored each other and she couldn't help but swoon over the two. She was completely understanding however she now felt uncomfortable, like she was intruding.
"No, no don't worry about it. It's not an exciting story anyways." She laughed. "I've got to get back to cleaning anyways. Have a nice night." Evelyn smiled at her and Gus stared blankly at her, only smiling in goodbye when Evelyn nudged him on his hip.
"Come on." Evelyn said, grabbing his large hand with both of hers and dragging his body out to the outside of the ship. "I want to try something."
With a push, the heavy door swung open and instantly, the pair was hit in the face by the cold sea breeze. The salt littering the air instantly filled Evelyn's nose and a grin crept over her face. With only one hand, she pulled a willing yet cautious Angus behind her and she ran bow of the ship. The wind harshly slapped their faces and while Evelyn was loving the feeling of living on the edge in a perfectly safe condition, Angus was weary of the still forging contraption he stood upon to return to Evelyn's home.
The grip on the small girl's hand tightened and he slowed down slightly, making sure she didn't near to close to the edge. The large boat swayed slightly on the water and both of their legs felt slightly wobbly, but it only added to Evelyn's joy. The smile on her face wasn't enough to reassure Angus though when he eventually pulled her backwards into him and she neared the edge.
"Evy not go to close." He said. He wrapped his arms over her shoulders and he pulled her into him, not letting them walk any further to the bow.
"It's okay Gus." Evelyn peered up at him with a smile. Her hands snaked around his back and she peered up at him, his hair flying around obstructing his face. A small laugh left her lips as she observed the pout forming on his lips from annoyance of his hair. "Here, let me." She smiled and turned him around.
"Down." She instructed and tapped him in the shoulder. He knelt himself down slightly and felt her small hands delicately pulling his rough hair back and off his face. He didn't know what she was doing but he felt as though Evelyn was pulling his hair in funny directions. Grunting, he tried to stand up not knowing what she was doing, but stayed put when she poked him on the hip and told him to stay down.
Evelyn pulled the hair band off her wrist and made a low bun for Angus. Angus felt strange with hair not flapping in his face. It was even off his neck and he wondered how something as simple as this was so relieving. He stood up and towered over Evelyn a small smile on his lips.
"Thank you, Evy." He said gently, his husky words almost flying away in the wind. Slowly he leant down and pressed his lips to hers, lingering for a moment before pulling away.
"Gus, do you trust me?" Evelyn asked, looking down as she looped her fingers with his.
"Yes." He replied, almost instantly. He watched as mischief filled her eyes and once again she led him back to the bow of the boat, and this time he followed.
"We have this thing back home, it's called a movie. So my camera what we took photos of can take moving pictures then you out it on a screen." Evelyn tried to explain quickly, only creating a basic and very brief concept. "It will make more sense when I can show you one, but for now just know that they exist." Evelyn couldn't help but laugh at the look on his face, the excitement when she said they had moving pictures.
"We have this movie called the Titanic." She said and she pulled Angus closer to the bow. She didn't explain the rest, she only pushed him to the rail at the front of the boat. She could feel the hesitation in his step and she pressed a kiss into the exposed skin on his back before he relaxed. He took another step forwards, his hands gripping the rails and Evelyn held onto his waist but she knew it wouldn't do much.
Evelyn was like a typical girl, wanting that special someone to create the infamous titanic pose and what a better person to recreate it with then Angus. She felt giddy inside as she peered up at his tall body in front of her, desperately wanting to reverse their positions soon.
The wind whipped in his face and he had to squint, the sun long gone and the sky now replaced by a dark blue with many of the stars filling the sky and the moon shining brightly behind them, making the water below them shine. He felt Evelyn's small hands leave his waist and travel to his arms, a small pressure from her encouraging him to lift his arms.
Like the reverse titanic, the two stood together as they felt like they were flying across the ocean as free as they had ever felt. He wasn't sure when, but he and Evelyn had swapped positions and he didn't know it, but they mimicked Jack and Rose. He held her from behind, keeping her secure as she laughed in utter delight. A wide smile on her lips and her eyes crinkled at the edges.
Tyler watched from above, a smile on his face as he observed the two. Quickly snapping a photo of the two lovers, he closed the camera and walked away, happy that they were happy.

Sooooo, rant time. I know this chapter wasn't amazing and it shits me to be honest. As much as I loved Gus in the wild, this story is about him adapting to civilization and to see where it leads him but I have so many ideas that I can't write them. I wrote him in civilization and hated it, so I settled for a filler chapter and it's equally as shit, so I apologies but I'm working on a better next chapter. To be honest, when I read this before I uploaded it while editing, I cringed.
I know I don't really need to do so, but I feel like justifying myself for such a long time to update; the amount of SAC's, tests and assessments I've had on top of my sport and work has left me little to no time, so sorry one again haha!
Never have I felt so poorly about a chapter before so please bare with me :)
