"Angus, it's a pleasure to meet you." Evelyn's mom Angie welcomed the new arrival, a soft smile on her face. Angus, who still was holding Evelyn's hand, smiled back and muttered a hello. His eyes widened in discomfort as he watched Angie approach him. She placed a hand on his arm just above his elbow and pecked his cheek in greeting as Angus just stood there passively.
He knew not to react outwardly, after all it was his Evy's mom, but nobody could kiss his cheek exempting Evelyn. She was the one who he shared the loving moments with, not anybody else. A small frown appeared on his face but nobody noticed it due to the excitement of being reunited with family.
"Evie, how was the trip?" Her mom greeted her daughter, wrapping her arms around her. Evelyn returned the hug with only one arm as Angus grip wouldn't let her go and restricted her from embracing her mother freely.
"It was amazing." She replied, squeezing Angus' hand and glancing up at him lovingly. Her gaze lingered on the man next to her and she thanked whatever god was there that she was blessed to be the one to find Angus. They understood each other and even in such a small time, they clicked, creating a bond between the two that made them both feel needed. A small smile was on his lips as he observed her, his eyes looking down on her in complete admiration.
"See what I mean?" Brads voice interrupted the moment, snapping Evelyn's attention back to her parents. "The whole entire trip." He teased. Evelyn squeezed her eyes closed momentarily, completely embarrassed by her dad outing them to her mom.
"That's good hon." Angie smiled knowingly, taking a step back and ignoring brads comment to save Evelyn some awkwardness. "Go and get settled back in, I can't imagine the boat ride was too amazing." She said with a laugh. Angie glanced up at Angus for a moment, thrilled that her daughter found such a good looking man. A small smile played on her lips. "Angus can stay in here or the spare room in the garden house with you. Need I remind you however that you're still my daughter and I don't want grandkids?"
The room fell silence, in shock. Evelyn's mouth dropped open, mortified by the fact her mom would say something so forward, not only to her but in front of her dad. Brad froze scratching his balding head from his wife's random comment and Angus narrowed his eyes, wondering why the tension in the room had grown. He didn't know what was going on.
"Angie, honey. Evie is 23 years old, she doesn't need this talk." Brad said, breaking the silence and grabbing his wife's hand. "Come now and I'll show you all our findings." With that, the awkward comment was put behind them as the jolly little man started rambling about the scenery, the PH levels and the findings he found while out on the island.
"You okay?" Angus asked Evelyn, concerned why her face had lit bright red.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm great." She nervously laughed. Angus felt like something was wrong but he ignored it as he pulled her in for a hug. It wasn't enough though, he felt too distanced from Evelyn. Unexpectantly, he scooped her off the ground and into his arms in bridal style, holding her body to his. The way from shock she clung to him, her arms around his neck pulling him in closer satisfied him. A small smile went onto his lips and he kissed her softly, his stomach dancing from the feelings of belonging she provided him with.
"What's a garden house?" Angus asked softly as he pulled away.
"It's like a mini house out the back, disconnected from this one. I got sick of my parents nagging me and I didn't plan on moving out, so I claimed it." Evelyn said.
Angus nodded his head, semi understanding what she said.
"Alright Gus, put me down." She laughed, tapping his chest twice with her hand. We need to move everything out back." Reluctantly, Angus lowered her gently to the ground and watched as she picked up her bag on wheels. Evelyn shyly reached for his hand, intertwining his fingers with hers and tugged him to follow her out to the garden shed.

"Hello Angus, I'm Doctor Smith."
Angus sized up the man in front of him. He was just shorter then himself, a mop of dark black hair cut short sweeping over his head. He was a middle aged man, his eyes wrinkling slightly at the edges and a large nose. He was a chubby man, a small beer belly protruding from underneath his snow white doctor's coat.
Angus nodded his head once, his face passive as he looked at the happy man.
"Thank you for seeing us Doctor Smith." Evelyn answered for him.
"No, thank you for coming to me. I must admit that when I was told I was doing a general checkup on someone who had lived in isolation he's whole life, I became so curious these past two weeks have had me slightly anxious." The doctor said with a laugh.
"Now, let's get into this. Angus, these papers are going to need your signature. All legal obligations or consent have been filled out by Mr and Mrs Miller, however this one is stating I am to keep all of the finding and diagnosis I make today and in future private." He continued to explain and go over the fine details with both Evelyn and Angus, Evelyn consenting and explaining to Angus what they properly meant. Angus didn't really care, he just scribbled an identical line multiple times already wanting to leave the blinding white room.
Not even ten minutes later, Angus had stripped down into just his underwear and was sitting on a table. His muscular body sat proud on display, the tanned skin looking prime underneath the bright lights illuminating the room. The small roll on his stomach captured Evelyn attention and she found it enticing for some reason. Although still muscular as all hell, the small layer of fat developed made him look even stronger, even more intimidating yet at the same time even more adorable.
Angus started blankly at everything the doctor did to him. Cold metal things were pressed to his skin, he was pricked by needles, told to stand and sit still as he was poked and prodded. He wasn't enjoying it really, but he knew that if Evelyn was the one poking him he would have. He looked over at her blankly, not particularly amused as his body swayed forwards and a particular hard poke was implemented at the shoulder.
"Angus, can you tell me if you ever recall hurting your collarbone?" Doctor Smith questioned. "Right here." His finger swiped over the protruding bone that was dislodged, pointing up and clearly not properly in the socket.
"Yes," Angus spoke. "Long time ago."
"And did it hurt? Were you still able to use it and function properly?"
"Angus, I couldn't hunt good for long time." He looked over at Evelyn who is sitting in a plastic chair near the desk. She shot him a reassuring smile and the questions didn't faze him as much.
"Angus?" The doctor spoke, snapping him back to reality.
"What?" He confusedly asked, his eyebrows furrowed as he brushed the doctors hand away from his collarbone in annoyance.
"Does it still hurt?"
"Not really."
The doctor nodded his head and typed something on his computer. For a minute, the room was silent apart from the tapping of the keyboard as he furiously typed notes.
"I'm going to take an x-ray of that later." The doctor informed them. "It's the end of the bone so I'm assuming the socket was torn as the collar bone pulled out. Where the socket is, the area feels healed over so I'm thinking the bone didn't sink correctly back into place."
Evelyn frowned. "Do we need to fix it?"
"No, no. If that is the case then a surgical procedure would be pointless. It's already fused back together and breaking it to place it back into the original place would be pointless and only cause more discomfort for Angus."
"What?" Angus asked again. He had no clue what a collarbone was, he didn't know what fuse meant and he didn't know what the fuck a surgical procedure was, and he sure as hell didn't want one.
Evelyn could see the frustration evident on his face from not understanding and she hated that he felt that way. It wasn't long until he was seeing a speech pathologist and aide worker that was recommended to redefine the English language to him and to ready him for the world and its ways. The amount of money that they had from the fund her grandparents left them was enough them to hire an expensive worker. Their speech pathologist was average, however the aid worker was also a therapist, so they were killing two birds with one stone in that sense.
"Your collarbone is this." Evelyn said, standing from her seat and walking over to him. Her fingers softly brushed over the bone, so gently it caused his to shiver slightly from her touch. "This one here, you must have broken." She looked in his eyes and waited for him to nod, showing he understands what she was talking about. When she got the nod, she continued. "It's supposed to be like this one though." She moved her touch to the other side, her fingers running over the flat bone.
"Okay.' His husky voice spoke. His eyes locked on hers and it was that moment when he was entirely thankful for her. She brought him back to civilization, where he was supposed to be in the first place and although it was going to be a challenge to adjust to, he couldn't even think of a way to express how grateful he was that Evelyn would be here with him.
