The quick fifteen minute drive to Angus' apartment felt abnormally longer than usual. Evelyn was nervous and anxious, but most of all excited. She didn't know what it was, but she just wanted to forget about everything and go back to how it was before all of the drama.

She wanted the sweet kisses, the raw moments. The joy filled days followed by late night conversations hiding under the doona covers and whispering the night away. The long runs they would go on, when Evelyn would get tired and sit back and watch Angus release all of his energy and the trips to the park to play a poor game of football that always ended up with going to the supermarket for Angus to try new food.

The flowers that had lay on the ground, so helpless to survive by itself and without aid reminded Evelyn of Angus and how he so desperately tried to fix this. His only savior at this moment was Evelyn, and he was hers too.

As she raced up the stairs to his apartment, feeling too agitated to take the stairs, her heart was hammering in her chest as she knocked on the door. But she was only met with silence. She knocked again, and again, but still no answer.

"Gus?" She called, hoping he was there. "Gus, its Evelyn. Are you there?" Again she was met with silence, her stomach dropped as she felt disappointment flood through her. Because she hadn't felt relief with him Angus not being home, it only meant she was making the right choice in wanting to finally fix this. She wanted him to be there and it only fueled her further to want to find him.

But now, she was left with the task of actually finding him.

Turning on her heel, Evelyn racked her brain to where he could be. It was a Tuesday, she thought as she jogged back down to her car, forgetting about the elevator once again. That means he's not at a lesson or a appointment, and won't be shopping because the supermarket tends to be busy Tuesday (for some strange reason) and Angus tends avoids the crowds.

Clicking the power button on her phone to check the time, the date caught her eye as it appeared on the screen.

"Shit."

Realization finally set in. Angus' interview on the television show was today, starting in half an hour. She mentally kicked herself as she raced into her car.

How the fuck could she gave forgotten about this?

<><><><><><><><><><>

"Please welcome the man who survived alone all these years by himself, isolated on an island. It's Angus!"

A small hand pushed Angus towards the stage, reminding him it was his queue to start the interview. They had already talked through the questions with him, explained to him what was going to happen but now that it was happening, Angus was nervous.

His long legs carried him out to the stage, a small corridor opening up to the stage with bright lights shining on him, happy music in the background motivating the audience to get excited. They were all clapping and cheering, for what he wasn't sure, but there was tonnes of them. More people then he would have expected to see him.

He forced a tight smile onto his face, remembering to smile as he was told to, and made his way to Jonathon Phillip. The man was short, slightly chubby and balding from his older age but owned a bright smile to make up for it. He knew how nervous Angus is about his public appearance and talked to him prior the show, assuring him that he will take care of him.

Angus took a seat, along with a deep breath to calm himself. Together Angus and Jonathon sat in silence, waiting for the crowd to stop cheering and to begin the interview. Angus knew he had been in the news lots due to his 'remarkable survival story'. People were interested because no one had heard him tell his story before. People wanted to know how he did it, what happened and how life in civilization is for him.

Due to his story breaking out, a large fundraiser occurred a few weeks back where the community donated to Angus to help him start a life here. From the money, he could pay his rent, buy food and go places like a regular person, and due to the media attention, he had a lot of it left over from all of the excess support.

"Angus, how are you?" Jonathon asked Angus after the applauding had calmed down.

"I'm well, thanks." Angus replied. He glanced out at the audience, seeing people smiling at him. Some girls whispered between each other, not taking their eyes off him with red cheeks and smiles as they giggled to one another.

"That's good, that's good." Jonathon smiled. "So Angus, tell us what we all want to know. How did you survive all by yourself for all that time?"

Remembering the way he was told to answer the question, Angus replied.

"It was a challenge. It was all about surviving and staying alive. With that being said, I loved my home. It was peaceful, quiet." He looked out at the audience briefly, "It didn't smell like shit."

The whole audience laughed, knowing very well that compared to the wild, the city smelt of gas and not of nature.

"So how did you end up on the island?"

"I couldn't tell you. All I know is it was me and my parents until I was about thirteen. They died in an attack, so it was just me after that."

The audience awed at his reply.

"I'm so sorry." Johnathon said with a small frown. Angus looked at him confused.

"It wasn't your fault."

"So, what was a day to day basis like for you?" Johnathon changed the topic.

"Gus, uh. I would wake up at light, hunt. Find supplies. Wash. Nothing too hard."

Johnathon smiled, then turned to the camera. "Alright folks, we will return after a small break to talk some more with Angus."

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

It had felt like forever. Angus could feel his palms turn clammy only 5 minutes into the interview, his underarms sweating slightly too. Today, he was only dressed in a pair of denim shorts and a white buttoned down shirt with a pair of converses. Typically, this is what Angus wore daily in public, however a plain t-shirt instead of a button down, but in front of so many people, he felt restricted and trapped.

Thankfully, Evelyn's mom had spoken with the company, stating only short 5 minute segments could take place, and because it wasn't a live taping, breaks went for 5 minutes too. In total, this interview was supposed to go for forty minutes, and he was to talk about everything. His daily life, his challenges, how he found peace, how he was discovered. Everything.

It was a challenge for him. As much as he went to answer truthfully, Angus was told to not talk about particular things, same with the presenter. The bright lights and constant eyes focused on him made it difficult for him to relax too.

"So Angus. We know of the challenges you faced, what it was like but tell us, how did someone find you?" Everything was silent and like before all eyes are on him. He swallowed nervously, dreading have to talk about his Evy. He wasn't even sure if she still liked him, but all he wanted to do was gush about how she was his, however not tell too much so she would remain only his and so others wouldn't want her too.

"Tell us the very first time you saw another human, what was it like?" Jonathon prompted him on. Gus nodded small at him in thanks, not sure how to start it off.

"Uh, I heard screaming from my home. I didn't know what it was, but I knew whatever it was, was in danger. It wasn't something from my island, so I had to go and check it out." Angus swallowed, playing with the rip on his jean shorts as he recounted it.

"I got the cliff and looked down, and there was my girl. Evelyn. She had fallen, about two bodies." He mumbled before clearing his throat. "I climbed down and got her."

"Two bodies?" Jonathon questioned him.

"Ah, yeah. I didn't know about meters and all of that, so I used my height as a measurement. It's something I'm familiar with, and know pretty well."

Small murmurs from the crowd sounded from amazement at how he had lived isolated from everyone, but still remained smart enough to productively function like in civilization.

"Amazing." He voiced. "I just find it absolutely incredible that living away on a deserted island, and you still have modern ways to function. Literally, you're so smart Angus." Jonathon said in awe.

"Thanks," Angus mumbled shyly.

"How tall are you?"

"I'm 6"5'."

"Wow, that's about a thirteen foot fall." Jonathon exclaimed, quickly doing the math. "Was she okay after that?"

"She got a sore wrist. I wrapped it for her."

"With what?"

"There are these vines and thick leaves, good for compressing sore limbs."

Jonathon's face was in shock from how smart Angus is.

"So you met Evelyn then." Jonathon said, going back on topic. The audience awed at the screen behind him, and Angus turned in his chair. Up on the large screen was a picture taken on one of his first says in the camp. He was sitting at a folded table, a plate with shrapnel of chocolate cake in front of him, his Evy to his left. While she smiled somewhat awkwardly at the camera, Angus just stared blankly at it, still not used to the idea of photos.

The fold out chairs were very thin, but the bright green of the grass and trees in the background stood out as the vibrant colors looked beautiful. The photo was in great focus, nobody else in the photo apart the lower part of a leg from someone sitting a few away from them. Angus eyed the photo and Evelyn's hiking boots, the distaste for them and their bulkiness making him screw his nose. He looked at his own feet on the photo, seeing the bare feet caked with dry mud.

He was in his jungle wear, the baggy brown shorts and no shirt showing off his survivor's body. The muscle looked hard as some sunlight came down and hit skin making his skin looking extremely tanned, especially next to Evelyn who looked significantly paler. He observed the small rolls on his stomach, much smaller than now and much more unhealthy, after eating substantial food for a few days straight, how his hair looked somewhat knotted. A chunk was either side of his face, the rest falling down his back and he honestly looked ridiculous. His Evy though, was in her hiking boots, typical black tank top and hiking pants. Her hair was tied high on her head, frizzy bits of hair flying everywhere as they had just came back from exploring for hours.

He stayed silent for a moment, just looking at the photo it was the first they had ever taken together, and although they both looked awkward, the actual day had so many fun and loving memories. He smiled slightly.

"That's awfully cute." Jonathon commented. "It's amazing what a shower can do to an appearance, you can go from good looking to one of the most attractive men." The whole audience laughed and cheered, supporting his joke and compliment to Angus as he felt his cheeks light up.

The only person he liked calling him attractive was his Evy, from anyone else it sounded insincere and was plain embarrassing.

"So, Evelyn showed you the ropes. How to survive?"

"Ah, yes." Gus nodded.

The audience cooed again and he turned, looking at the next photo that went up. This time, it was of Mike and Angus. They were out in the jungle this time, nearing the end of their stay. Angus looked smaller next to Mike, but once again much more tanned. The locks of Angus' hair contrasted to Mikes shaved head, making them look polar opposites despite how well they got along. Once again, Angus was blankly looking at the camera in his jungle wear but this time with a pair of shorts in one piece he had obtained from someone. Evelyn had captured this photo, to both of their distaste.

Angus knew Mike would throw a fit with this not-so-flattering-photo appearing in a news story that will be viewed by millions of people. He laughed at the thought.

"And who is that?" Jonathon asked.

"Mike. He was one of the leaders on the camp for the physical stuff."

The photo changed again, and this time Angus' heart skipped a beat. He had no clue this photo existed, he had to make sure it was him for a moment.

It was the night of the ship coming to civilization. He was on the front of the ship, Evy in front of him as they recreated the titanic pose. Their hair was flying about everywhere, the deep blue water looking black as the night sky was filed with tiny starts and the moon in a corner. It was practically the silhouettes of their figures, but Angus racked his brain to figure out who took this but came up blank.

"That's sweet." Jonathon commented. "The modern life Jack and Rosie." Everyone laughed, understanding the joke but Angus had yet to see the movie. To be polite, he smiled and glanced to the side but his face dropped instantly.

Standing off to the side, a worried but proud look on their face, was Evelyn.

She stood there, dressed up in her skirt and sandals, her hair naturally dried, he could tell by the slight frizz to the curls, falling down her back. He was confused why she was here, the other night he thought she was done with him. But now, now he was ecstatic and didn't even care about her reasoning's. He wanted to stand up and leave, going straight over to her but he couldn't. He could feel eyes on him as he just started at her. She was so fucking gorgeous, eyes looking only at him.

What made him feel like he was flying was the past week and a half, her eyes looked pale and like she didn't want anything to do with him. But now, even from a distance, Angus could see the familiar look of love in her eyes. He could see it in her, he could practically feel that she was ready to move on. His legs flinched as he went too stood up, but Jonathon's voice snapped him back to reality, announcing another break.

Once again, the music played on the audience clapped, and Angus felt himself growing sick of this. The noise was getting too much and it was taunting him that his Evy was so close, yet he couldn't go see her.

"Okay Gus, you're doing great." Jonathon said. "Last segment, about five minutes again and you're free to go." Angus nodded.

"Can I go for a sec?" He looked over across at Evelyn who was still looking at him, a nervous look on her face.

"Not this time sorry Gus, were going back on soon... this is a short break because we've already gone over time and needed to wrap this up.

Trying to be polite, Angus nodded his head. "Just, one minute?" He pleaded.

"20 seconds," the camera crew yelled. A female appeared to start powering Jonathon's face, doing the same on Angus.

"Sorry mate. It's just a few more minutes though." Jonathon felt sorry for the lad. He could tell he was over this and not comfortable with all these people. He knew he would do the last bit quickly so he could leave.

Evelyn stood watching out at Angus. She understood why he couldn't come and see her as they were about to film again, but she wondered if it was the right thing to do, to come and stand at the side. Angus kept looking at her, a blank face and she couldn't tell if he wanted her here or not. When the intro music starting again and Angus as still looking at her, she knew she was only being a distraction.

With one last look at him, his tall body sitting laid back on the couch, the front part of his hair tied up off his face and muscles straining under his shirt, she left to go backstage. Without her there, she knew he would be able to concentrate.

Angus stomach dropped as he watched her retreat, not glancing back.

<><><><><><>><>><><><><><><>

He was counting down the seconds he could leave. As Jonathon thanked him for being on the show, time froze. He needed to leave, to find his Evy, to do something other than sit here. The last ten minutes had dragged on longer than expected and he just wanted to leave. As soon as it was over, Angus quickly thanked him and left.

His body felt hot, he felt agitated and like he just needed to get out all of his energy. His plan was to just leave, but he was made to stay and talk to other people. He didn't care if he was being rude, Angus just left. He felt like the walls were closing in on him as he raced to his dressing room. He slammed the door behind him, his mind whirling and not paying attention to his surroundings. He ripped his shirt off, the bottom breaking and already he didn't feel as restricted.

He was breathing heavily as he kicked his shoes off, walking to get his water bottle and slugging down all of the water. His hands rose, pulling at his hair and dragging down his face, frustrated as to why his Evy would just leave again. Did he really fuck up that badly, so she just came here to taunt him?

"Angus?"

It's like he could hear her sweet voice taunting with him with what he fucked up and lost, he just craved her.

"Gus?" He heard again. But this sounded real. He looked up and his eyes immediately locked on hers. Relief flooded him. She was here she hadn't left him. But he was still scared she would leave.

"Hey, Gus. Are you okay?" She looked so worried. Her pale green eyes were filled with worry as she hesitantly took a step towards him.

Angus broke. He rushed forwards, pulling her small frame into his body and hugging her so tight he was afraid he was squishing her.

"It's okay Gus." He heard her sweetly whisper into his ear.

"You did so well out there." Evelyn praised him quietly, no specifically knowing why he was so agitated when he stormed into the room. He felt her fingers stroke through his hair, scratching on his scalp soothingly. He breathed in, her familiar scent flooding his nose. He picked her up, loving the shriek she made, and walked over towards the wall. He slumped down against it, pulling her in even closer and just holding her to him.

Evelyn provided him with the comfort he needed. She calmed him, she brang him peace and he knew he was never going to let her go. She made him feel whole and content, the addictive feeling he knew would break him if he didn't have it forever.

"I'm so sorry," Gus whispered, his voice raspy and raw with emotion. "I'm so, so sorry, Evy."

"Don't be," he felt the small puff of warm air on his neck and he felt his body shiver. He had missed the contact with her, the simple things he had taken for granted. "I'm sorry Gus, I shouldn't have left you. I should have explained everything to you."

She pulled back, her hands cupping his face as they looked into each other's eyes. His hands were resting on her waist and they both felt themselves get lost within one another.

"I love you," Angus whispered. He couldn't hold it back, he needed her to know.

"I, Angus," Evelyn broke eye contact with him, her hands on her face loosening. He felt her retreating but he wasn't going to let her, not this time. His hands flung up, holding her arms in place to keep her hands at his face. Her eyes shot back to his, eyes wide and confused to what he was doing.

"I know what you, you're going to tell me. I know love, I felt it with my parents. But you different. Evy-You. You make me so fucking happy. I felt fucking defeated the whole time you weren't with me, but now. I, you make Gus feel happy again."

She stayed silent, taking in every word. Her heart was thumping at his words, his confessions. Evelyn didn't think Angus knew how big the step of saying I love you was. She didn't think he knew the significance behind it but she was realizing he didn't need to know, he learnt it on his own and found his own meaning for it.

"I have never regretted anything more in my life than that night. If I could take it back I would, just to make sure I never made you cry, but it taught me something. It taught me that I do love you. I took you for granted, I thought being happy was what happened here but I realized that I'm only happy when I'm with you. I love you, so much Evelyn and I need you to say it back to me. Please."

Angus felt scared after his confession. He knew his Evy loved him because of the fact it broke her so much. Their time apart really taught him how much he wanted her, how much he loved and treasured her and he wasn't letting her go now.

"Gus," she started but he cut her off.

"No." He said firmly. "Tell me, please." He whispered, pleading for her to feel the same way as he hoped.

"I do love you Gus," that's all he wanted to hear. He quickly pulled her in, his lips crashing on hers as the welcomed butterflies erupted in his stomach.

He felt her pull herself in closer, a hand traveling to his hair, and his hands slipped down to rest on her waist.

Angus had never regretted something so much, and it was right here in this moment when she said she loved him, did he promise he would never take Evelyn's love for granted again. He knew he had to earn back her trust, and he was going to. Angus would make sure of it, even if it were the last thing he could do.
