A/N:

So as I've stated, this book is inspired by Tarzan. I, for some reason, have gotten overly excited when I found a picture on the internet of what disney cartoon characters would look like in real life and there was one of Tarzan that I am completly inlove with. I adore this so much. And while looking at some real life Tarzan men, I found this photo.

I'm fan girling so hard right now.

Confession- I keep thinking on how Tarzan looks when I'm writing and I completly forget to say how Angus has facial hair. He does. There's no razors in the jungle.

"So, Gus." Evelyn said slowly, her stomach raging hard with nerves. Like usual, his opinion on personal space was next to none so as she sat on a rock covered in vibrant green moss, Angus sat on the ground right next to her with his broad shoulders occasionally brushing against her knee every now and then.

Evelyn glanced down at him, his long body sprawled on the ground. His legs lay lazily out in front of him, the limbs so long and strong that it has Evelyn swooning. His torso was on full display as usual, the tanned skin having next to no body fat. Evelyn wondered how he was still alive and healthy with his athletic ability from the conditions that he lives in. His strong arms supports his weight and his eyes were closed as his face pointed towards the sun. She loved the moment Angus' shoulder would brush her leg accidently.

"If you like everyone, would you consider staying at the camp?" She felt the nerves bubbling in her stomach and her previous conversation with Mike really stuck with her. Obviously she found Angus attractive, I mean who wouldn't. He wasn't perfect, not even close. He smelt not the greatest from having no cleaning products and his long hair was tangled and dirty. His nose sat slightly to the side, perhaps from a break at one point and some features of his body was incorrect, like the collarbone that jutted up in the wrong position.

However his brown eyes, so caring and such a unique colour infatuated Evelyn to a point where she sometimes found it hard to look away and the tall, fit frame Angus possessed made her swoon. His strong jaw line was so sharp and evident, Evelyn fingers itched to trace the feature. She had always had a thing for jaw lines, and arms. His arms appeared so strong and muscly, like he could lift anything as he proved when he carried her across the bridge and into his hut. His torso had the details of a true endurance athlete. His abs, although there, were not prominent and didn't look like a body builder yet he had the deep v line that trailed off into the small brown cloth that he called suitable everyday attire.

The attraction was merely physical, however she wasn't lying when she said he was smart. His ideas were like those in the cities. Houses, windows, pulleys, bridges, weapons even a cupboard to contain spears was all constructed here. The ideas probably came from his mom and dad but the fact he could expand on them and tried his hardest to communicate with Evelyn made her stomach flutter the both times she was around him.

She did however feel a pity for him. He was here all alone with nobody to talk to for god knows how long and had to suffer the loss of his parents all by himself. Her heart stings tugged at the mere thought and wondered how he could be so sting to continue on.

"Will Evy be there?" He asked, his eyes still closed but his face turned slightly to Evelyn.

"Yes, yes. If you want me to be that is."

"Yes. Please." Angus replied and Evelyn felt over the moon. She knew her dad and could play on his weakness to allow him to share a tent with her, given it was the only tent with room. Since Evelyn was the only girl on this expedition she got a tent to herself with everyone sharing a two man tent, Evelyn has one all to herself.

"But you come home with me. Gus." He said after, making Evelyn falter. He had opened his eyes to look at her, the deep brown boring into her soul as he studied her reaction.

"We'll see." Evelyn replied slowly, placing her fingers on top of Angus' head when he frowned. She has known that the action was calming for him, and Evelyn loved the look of bliss and content on his face when she carried out the action. Angus forgot to question her reply as she played with his hair.

A deep groan unintentionally fell from his moth when her nails lightly scraped his scalp, the actions causing his body to tighten. He eyes flew open, wondering what the sound was he just made, he looked at Evelyn, confused and embarrassed but the feeling melted away when he saw her face reddening. She stifled a giggle behind her hand and looked away, her hands going with her.

Angus didn't want her to stop. It was giving him so much pleasure that he felt as though she could do that forever and he wouldn't get bored.

"I, sorry." He mumbled, watching her reaction. When she laughed even more, he couldn't help but smile up at her. Did everyone look like this? He wondered. Are they all this kind, pretty and caring?

Angus really hoped so.

"Evie, Hunny?" Her dad's familiar voice cut her small moment of staring at Angus and taking in his features. After his apology of embarrassment, they fell into a peaceful silence with one another, taking their previous positions however instead of Angus relying on his arms to support his body weight, he was now leaning on the rock Evelyn was sitting on as her hand was on his head once again.

Angus jumped, his eyes shooting open and Evelyn didn't look at her dad as she studied Angus making sure he was okay. She rose to her feet when Angus did, her hand on his elbow just barley touching, the light feeling making Angus want to shiver.

"Angus, this is my dad. His name is Brad." Evelyn spoke softly.

"He small." Angus mumbled to no one in particular but he knew Evelyn heard him. Evelyn's finger pinched his elbow slightly, making Angus snap his head to Evelyn who was clearly trying to get his attention. The small frown and shake of her head made him think his comment was something to stay silent. He was about to apologies to her so she wouldn't be upset with him but a laugh stopped him from doing so.

The small man who was Evelyn height was laughing, his cheeks red and his hair a white colour. A bulge came from his stomach, a heavy stomach that Angus didn't know could happen with his species. His eyes looked the same as Evelyn's, a pale green that was lit with happiness and joy.

"Angus, you have no idea how relieved I am to meet you. Look at you, such a strong young man!" The bubbly old man cheered. His voice was loud with excitement and Angus tensed under Evelyn touch. "Tell me boy, or should I say man, how you've adapted to life out in the jungle. I mean look at you, you're fit as all heck!"

"Dad," Evelyn hissed, her voice harsh compared to her usual soft voice. This too made Angus wary and he straightened his stance, inching over in front of Evelyn from her anger towards her father.

He just didn't want her hurt. He had to protect her.

Angus stance became much more intimidating and Mike beside Brad also took a stance, wondering what this man was doing and if he was going to snap. Brad's smile faltered at the action, wondering what had put him so on edge.

Mike has explained to Brad the situation, the infatuation and protectiveness Angus had over Evelyn. Brad said that that attachment was to be expected in a way. In the animal kingdom, the male's natural instinct was to watch over and protect the females in order for reproduction amongst them. Evelyn being the first female around him for such a long time, the connection Angus felt must have been stronger. Evelyn is his first taste of the modern world and the spawning of his human emotions felt on a day to day basis that must have disappeared as his instinct to survive took over all other urges.

"Gus," Evelyn gently said to him as she reached out to place her hand on his upper back. When he stepped in front of her, her hand had lost contact with him and it nerved her. Evelyn wasn't stupid, she knew that her touch comforted him as she hasn't had soft touches in an extremely long time and that they made him loose track of reality, bringing him down from his worked up state of mind.

"No.' He snapped at her, his stance becoming even more aware as he watched mike take a step in, ready to make a move. "Stay." His husky voice sounded so intimidating and dangerous and he felt her hand stiffen on his back. He didn't realize that he was the one to cause the action and assumed it was Mike or the dad who had made her feel uneasy.

"No, Gus it's okay.' Evelyn spoke, her hand now latching onto his and tugging to get him to face her. She couldn't move his body though so she settled for manipulating her way around to his front. Or at least tried to.

Angus saw the movement that would expose her to the other two men and instinctively wrapped his strong arm around her waist. It wasn't much of an effort for him to scoop her off the ground, but her squirming in his grip irritated him. Why wouldn't she let him protect her?

Evelyn knew that Angus wouldn't hurt her and what he was doing was from worry. As his arm was wrapped around her, she squirmed intentionally in order to spin around and face him. Getting his full attention would made it much easier for him to calm down.

"Mike, please stay back." Evelyn spoke gently to Mike as he made another move forwards and towards them. Angus took a small step back to increase the distance between Evelyn and him. Was it finally now they would battle for dominance and possession over Evelyn?

"Angus, stop it." Evelyn spoke loudly, her voice firm. "This hurts." She finally cried out. The tight grip on Evelyn he had to prevent her from moving from his grasp and so he could make sure she would stay protected behind him was jabbing into her stomach, the fatless strong forearm crushing her bottom ribs. It didn't overly hurt but the words was loud enough for Angus to instantly put her on the ground and he gave her an inspection to make sure she was okay.

"I, Sorry. I sorry.' He mumbled, his fingers reaching out to prod at her stomach. She didn't wince and he gathered it was just a momentary pain but the guilt still ate him up on the inside. He remembered her wrist being in pain and he hesitantly reached down and grabbed ahold of it. A small black bruise was sitting on the underside of the wrist and his thumb gently ran over it.

"I sorry." He repeated again.

"I'm," Evelyn said gently, looking at him. His eyes didn't leave the bruise. Sucking in a deep breath, she pushed the nerves aside and with her opposite side reached her hand up and grabbed his chin, angling his face down to her until their eyes met.

"I'm sorry?" He repeated and Evelyn smiled and nodded her head

"Everything is okay Angus." She said with a small smile. "I didn't want dad to make you nervous and wanted him to stop so you're comfortable, okay? Everything is good."

"Evy didn't want Gus nervous?" He repeated, his mind relaxing knowing she was okay and these people meant no threat to her, she nodded her head with a smile.

"Overwhelmed," he said. Evelyn's stomach exploded with butterflies as he proudly said the word. He was paying attention to Evelyn the whole time and his English was improving slightly but it was the fact that he tried hard to remember these things that Evelyn said that made her dizzy with joy.

"Yeah, overwhelmed." She beamed up at him. Angus smiled proudly, glad that all his paying attention had paid off and he remembered what Evelyn said. Every time he did something Evelyn taught him she was always very pleased and Angus liked seeing that, and the fact that the reason she was so happy was from him.

Angus got lost in her eyes, so much care and love dancing around in them all directed towards him. His insides melted and although he was focused on Evelyn, he still had the corner of his eyes focused on the other two males watching in pure shock and wonder at their interaction.

When Mike cleared his throat, Evelyn snapped out of her trace, her cheek heating up as her hand dropped him Angus' face. He frowned, a dislike for Mike brewing in the pit of his stomach. The whole time today they had been together he was always there to interrupt them and he hated that.

"This is Brad." Evelyn repeated again, her face still flushed as she gestured towards her dad. Angus was silently thankful for the reminder as he had forgotten the name, the words of names sounding funny to him.

"Sorry about before Angus, I was just excited." The small man laughed. Slowly he stepped forwards, very cautious to make sure Angus stayed comfortable around him. "It's very nice to meet you." Brad continued on and held his hand out to shake.

Angus just stared at the out stretched limb, a blank look on his face as he wondered what the cubby little old man was doing. He didn't mean to appear rude and as Mike was about to comment on the rudeness of Angus, Evelyn burst into a fit of giggles.

"Dad," she laughed. "He doesn't know what that means." Again she burst into a small, cute fit of giggles as she swiped a few of the black frizzy part of her pony tail behind her ears. The sound was like music to Angus' ears, one that he would never get sick of.

"Oh," the older man dumbly said. Brad Miller is a very intelligent man. He's the best at his job however this new discovery of Angus had muddled his mind and made him so over excited that he isn't thinking about his actions.

"I apologize Angus." He chuckled.

"Ahh, dad?" Evelyn asked.

"Yes dear?"

"If I promise to keep the satellite phone on me, can I go with Angus and get some more photos and evidence?"

Brad hesitated for a moment before he smiled. He saw the protectiveness of Angus towards his daughter and how he could calm him down so easily. He saw how he felt horrible from accidently holding her to tight. He knew that he wouldn't allow Evelyn to become in danger or hurt and exploring with a man who lived in the island would benefit most by finding the best flora and fauna.

"Be back before dark." Was all he said, a mysterious smile on his face.

Maybe Tyler wasn't needed anymore, he thought to himself.
