"Hey" Gio said as he opened my door and stepping into my office surprising me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked quickly shoving my gun that I had in my hand behind my table into one of my desk drawers.
"I'm sorry" Gio said approaching me.
"Uhm... About what exactly?" I asked discreetly closing the drawer.
"About yesterday, running off and leaving you like that" Gio said to me.
"Oh" I nodded uninterested.
"Come on Lexi, you've been cold towards me and ignoring my calls since yesterday. You got to understand that I had to go deal with work issues, I had to" Gio said to me. "You cant keep being upset with me".
"Well why don't you shoot me then!" I yelled at him standing up throwing my hands in the air.
"What!? What are you...what are you talking about?" Gio asked sounding frightened and alert.
"For being upset that every time we're together and I'm thinking we got that time together you have to run off to go take care of mysterious business issues that you can't explained" I said to him.
"Listen..." Gio sighed but I know that it was a sigh of relief as he came towards me taking my hand in his "Lexi, I'm really so sorry about that, its just that of late I've been trying to make some new business deals and I haven't been that lucky with all of them of late so its just that every chance I get to make those deals successful I have to take it. I'm really sorry about that again, so will you give me another chance to make it up to you?"
"Is it always going to be like this?" I sighed looking up at him.
"I really hope not" Gio replied.
"Am I gonna regret this?" I asked him.
"Probably" Gio chuckled causing me to smile. "But I'd still like a chance".
"Alright" I sighed.
"Alright?" Gio asked surprised.
"Yeah" I nodded smiling slightly at him.
"I won't let you down" Gio said putting his hands on the sides of my face bringing my head to meet his before placing his lips on mine.
********************************************************** I was here looking up at the ceiling as I laid beside Gio not able to sleep. It was after one in the early hours of the morning but I just couldn't sleep. I laid there just thinking about everything that has happened over the years and the past months. Its just surprising how my life had turned out for me. Never in a million years had I ever imagine or thought that I would witnessed my parents being killed, put in a orphanage for girls, run away then get adopted into a family that treats me more than a real daughter. Or even more that I'd end up in a mafia connected family, become ruthless killer myself and now fallen in love with the enemy.
I turned on my side towards Gio watching him sleep. I couldn't help but smile as I looked on his sleeping face, he was just so handsome and looked so peaceful and innocent. This is why people always said that looks can be deceiving, because under a all this innocent looking face was a ruthless Mafia boss. My eyes trailed down to the tattoo on his shoulder. Sighing I started tracing the tip of my index finger along the pattern. It was then I felt the scar beneath the tattoo. I know well that was a scar from a bullet wound, it was small and almost unnoticeable but I still figure it out. Gio had gotten shot that week when he had left for Chicago, he didn't want me finding out that was probably why he got the area tattooed. I looked at my tattoo then back on his tracing my finger along it once more, I guess both of us had something hidden by these pattern inks. I looked back on Gio's face only to realized that his eyes were wide open as he watched me intently.
"Sorry" I said sheepishly withdrawing my hand. "I didn't mean to wake you".
"Its alright" Gio said to me. "What's wrong? Why aren't you sleeping?"
"I don't know, I just couldn't sleep" I told him. "I've been trying to sleep for the past hours but its impossible".
"What's on your mind?" Gio asked as he started caressing my cheek.
"I was thinking about life" I said to him. "Have you ever wish things were different and that life was just perfect?"
"Lexi, bambino non esiste una cosa come una vita perfetta" Gio said the words just rolling of his tongue with his Italian accent.
"What?" I asked looking in his eyes. "You know I don't speak Italian right?"
"Sorry, I was just saying there is no such thin as a perfect life" Gio said to me.
"I know. Its just that I wish there were such a thing as a perfect life" I said slightly yawning.
"You're tired" Gio smiled. "Come here, you should really get some sleep" he said pulling me into his chest with his arms around me.
"I like this" I said to him.
"What?" Gio asked rubbing my arm.
"Being here with you in your arms" I said to him.
"I love having you in my arms, just the same as how I love you" Gio said placing his lips on my forehead.
"And I love you as well" I said closing my eyes.
~|~|
"Buongiorno bella" Gio said to me as I walked into the kitchen.
"I'm guessing that means good morning right?" I smiled at him.
"Its actually good morning beautiful" Gio smiled back at me.
"Am I going to be needing to get myself an Italian translation dictionary?" I joke.
"Probably" Gio chuckled coming towards me. "Si guarda così bene indossare la camicia"
(You look so good wearing my shirt)
"Alright now I think that is an overkill" I said to him.
"Nah, I'm just saying you look really hot this morning" Gio said as he stopped in front of me putting his hands on my waist.
"Oh really?" I smiled seductively at him placing my hands around his neck.
"Sì così caldo" Gio smirked lifting me up on the counter and standing between my legs.
(Yes, so hot)
"I don't have a clue what you're saying and even though you're being spiteful and a show off right now, I just love hearing that sexy Italian accent of yours" I said to you.
"In that case, I'll just keep talking some more" Gio chuckled bring his head closer to me and hiking up one of my leg up to his waist and placing his other hand around my waist making me extremely close to him. "Just as soon as I'm done doing this"
And with that Gio's lips were on mine. Even if there wasn't a perfect life, there were perfect moments and now right here, this moment was one of them.
