Leon took care of the cheque immediately. And we decided to leave. I wanted to leave instantly now knowing who is the owner of the restaurant. Even if he wasn't here at the moment I just didn't care, I didn't want to be anywhere that belongs to that man. Leon and I went straight to his car as we drove off. I laid my head back on the headrest with my eyes closed.
"Lexi are you okay?" Leon asked.
"I honestly don't really know" I smiled slightly at him as I opened my eyes.
"Do you think its something you ate?" Leon asked concerned.
"No, I don't think so" I said to him.
"But you weren't feeling sick before" Leon said. "It was after we ate and all. Maybe it was the food, maybe your body doesn't react well to Italian food"
"I don't think that's it, my family is Italian so I've had my own share of Italian dishes" I told him.
"You're Italian?" Leon asked surprised. "I had no idea. You don't really look or talk like Italian"
"Do people have to look or sound a certain way to be of a particular nationality or ethnic background?" I asked him.
"What!? No, no" Leon said to me. "I didn't mean it like that, I just meant that.."
"Its okay I understand what you meant" I chuckled. "Don't sweat it"
"I hope I didn't offend you though" Leon said to me.
"Leon, I'm not offended. I'm not that petty" I said to him. "And you're right I don't look or sound Italian, because I'm not"
"What do you mean?" Leon asked confused. "You said you're family is Italian"
"Yes they are but I'm not" I said to him. "I was born in England so that makes me English. As for my ethnic background, well I'm sort of multi-racial. My dad is from an Irish and Native American background and my mom was Filipino and Chinese"
"Alright seriously Lexi I'm confused" Leon said to me. "Like really really confused. So you're Irish, English, Filipino and Chinese but you're family is Italian and you're not. How does that work?"
"Leon I was adopted" I said to him. "My current family is Italian but my biological parents were of those other backgrounds"
"Oh I didn't know" Leon replied. "I'm sorry if I was being offensive in anyway"
"You weren't" I smiled at him.
"I'm glad then" Leon sighed with relief. "Because I really wasn't trying to. And for what its worth you a very awesome mixed beauty"
"Thanks" I blushed. "I think you're pretty awesome too"
"Aww, you think I'm pretty?" Leon teased.
"I said pretty awesome as in so awesome not that I think you're pretty" I replied.
"You don't?" Leon said pouting and feigning sad. " I thought I was pretty"
"Well the truth is you are" I chuckled.
"I'm so glad to hear that" Leon said smiling.
When we reached my house Leon drove in before parking. I decided to thank him for the night as I turned to him before I exit his car.
"Thanks for tonight Leon" I said to him. "I actually had a nice time which I haven't really had in a long time"
"I'm glad you did" Leon smiled. "I also had a great time, well except for the part where you got sick".
"I'm sorry about that" I said to him.
"No, it wasn't your fault" Leon replied. "Not feeling well isn't something one can control"
"I know but I'm still sorry" I said to him. "But if you don't mind maybe I can make it up to you another time".
"You're saying you want to go out again?" Leon asked.
"Only if you're up for it" I said to him.
"Most definitely" Leon smiled.
"Good" I said to him. "We'll talk about that then soon"
"I hope so" Leon smiled.
"We will" I smiled before leaning over and placing a kiss on his cheek. "Goodnight Leon"
"Goodnight Lexi" Leon smiled.
I smiled at him before getting out of his car and giving him a small wave as I watched him drove back out. I sighed before going inside.
"So how was the date?" Dad asked after I reached in.
"Oh, hey dad" I said to him. "You heard about that huh?"
"Yeah, your mom told me" Dad replied.
"It was nice" I smiled at him.
"I'm glad you had a good time Lexi" dad said to me.
"Thanks Dad" I smiled.

"Aunty Lexi do you have any games on your phone?" Emily asked me.
"No sweetie I don't" I said to her.
"Then what about the other one? Don't you have any games on that one either?" She asked.
"No dear" I replied.
"How come you have two phones and have no games on them?" Emily wrinkled her forehead in confusion. "My daddy has a lot of games on his phone"
"Well I don't really keep games on my phones because I don't play them" I told her.
"You don't? That's really weird. Then what do you do for fun then?" Emily asked.
"Well I have fun working and going out with friends" I said to her.
"Like on dates?" Emily giggle. "Like you go on with my dad?"
"Emily, what do you know about dates?" I asked her as I lift her in my lap.
"Well... I know it is when people go out because they like each other" Emily said. "Do you like my daddy?"
"Uh..yeah I do" I nodded.
"Are you gonna marry him?" Emily asked.
"W-what!?" I choked surprised by this questions. "Em, sweetie you're dad and I are just friends. I don't think we'll be getting married"
"But you go out together all the time" Emily replied.
"Yeah, because we're friends and we enjoy each other company" I tried telling her.
"Oh" she said. "I thought you were going to marry him"
"Why did you think that?" I asked.
"Well because you like my Daddy and my daddy likes you" she replied. "And then normally people get married when they like one another"
"Em how do you know all this?" I asked her. This girl was really smart for a five year old.
"My daddy told me. And my grandma" Emily smiled.
"Oh, well not all the time people that like each other get married" I told her.
"But why not?" She asked confused.
"Well sweetie marriage are for persons who are in love with each other. Friends don't just get married even though they like each other" I tried explaining.
"I don't understand" Emily said to me.
"Uhm, how about I put it like this" I said to her. "I like you, and you like me but that doesn't mean we'll be getting married and do you know why?"
"Because I'm a little girl?" Emily asked which caused me to laugh.
"Yeah that and what else?" I asked.
"Uh...." Emily said thinking for a while before her face light up. "Because we are friends?"
"Exactly" I smiled at her. "You understand now?"
"Yeah I think so" Emily nodded.
"Alright sweetie, so do you wanna play that game now?" I asked.
"Yeah" she nodded happily.
"Here you go" I passed her my tablet with the learning game I had downloaded for her while we were talking.
So Emily didn't go to school today because earlier this morning she had a slight cough and fever. Leon was going to stay home with her but I told him to bring her by and that I'd take care of her and watch her for the rest of the day. My office could accommodate her and since I had my own business it was easier for me to look after her. The fever had gone since Leon had dropped her off this morning and she seems quite fine right now. Leon and I had gone out on a few more dates but still I just didn't think I was ready for another serious relationship right now. At least I just didn't know if I wanted to involved someone as innocent as he is in my type of life. I'd have to be lying to him constantly and that would caused problems, in addition he had an innocent little girl and I couldn't live with myself if I get involved with him and something happened to either one of them especially Emily. Even though I do like Leon, I just didn't want them to ever be in danger because of my type of lifestyle.
I had told Leon that I don't think we can be more than friends now and he had accepted it. I honestly thought he was going to be upset with me or accused me of stringing him along but to my surprise he totally gets it. Leon had however insisted that we still remained friends and if I could remain in Emily's life. He told me that strangely enough Emily had gotten really attached to me and if I just disappeared right now she'd be hurt. I couldn't bare for that to happen and I had also grown attached to the little girl, I couldn't imagine just disappearing from her life either. Even more, I was surprised that Leon had trust me enough to allow me around his daughter and to keep her considering we've only known each other for only a few months now.
I had allowed Em to continue playing the learning game on my tablet while I tried working. From time to time I'd look over at her on the couch to make sure she was alright. Leon had call twice to find out how she was doing, I had to reassure him that she seems fine now and make her talk to him. I guess that's what its like when you're a parent, you're constantly worried if your kid is alright even when you're being told they're fine. I was back to working when Dominic informed me that he was stopping by.
"Hey" I said looking up as he entered my office.
"I just thought I'd stop by and..." Dominic started before his eyes caught Emily who was on the couch and looking at him as well. "Who is this?"
"This is Emily" I said getting up and going over to her."Emily say hi to Dominic"
"Hi" Emily waved slightly.
"Hello Emily" Dominic smiled at her. "How are you doing?"
"I'm doing fine thank you" Emily replied.
"Well aren't you a brilliant little girl" Dominic said.
"He's pretty" Emily said to me. "Who is he? Your boyfriend?"
"No, she's my sister" Dominic quickly replied before turning to me shocked. "How old is she?"
"Em is five" I smiled. "But she's a really smart five year old"
"Who is she, one of your employees daughter?" Dominic asked.
"No, she's a friend's daughter" I said to him as I got up and watching Emily resumed to her game. "I'm keeping her today"
"A friend?" Dominic asked raising a brow.
"Yes, Leon" I said to him.
"Who on earth is Leon?" Dominic asked confused.
"Oh, you don't know?" I said realizing he must've not heard about him. "He's..."
"Wait, she's the guy you're dating daughter?" Dominic asked. "Why didn't you just say she's your step kid".
"So you've heard then" I said to him. "And by the way she's not my step kid, her dad and I are just good friends"
"Yeah sure, just good friends" Dominic said sarcastically. "That's what they all say"
"You mean like you and Kathleen" I said to him causing him to shut up. "You two are both just "good friends" too right?"
I did air quotes at good friends.
"That's different" Dominic said to me.
"Yeah right" I nodded sarcastically. "So what's up?"
"Well I'm supposed to have a deal finalized with Miguel Chavez tomorrow" Dominic said to me.
"You mean Spanish business man?" I asked.
"Yeah, he's coming by the office tomorrow" Dominic said to me.
"Well that's good" I said to him.
"I'm not so sure" Dominic replied.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Apparently based on what I've heard,he doesn't really like doing business with young bachelors" Dominic said to me. "I think he believe we're not as responsible"
"That's absurd" I said to him. "Every one knows you're a good business man".
"Yeah that's what I thought too" Dominic said to me."That is why I need your help with him"
"Help how?" I asked raising a brow.
"Convincing him" Dominic replied.
"By telling him you're a great business man?" I asked. "That I can do"
"I mean really convinced him" Dominic said to him.
"What do you want me to do? Tie him to one of you're conference room chairs and beat him with a gun until he signs over say yes he'll do business with you?" I whispered making sure Emily doesn't hear anything.
"No are you crazy? That way I'd never get the deal" Dominic said to me. "I was hoping you'd be nice"
"Relax I'm just joking" I said to him. "But I really hope you're not asking me to flirt with the guy, I mean I've always dated older guys but I'm not really the sugar daddy type. The guy could be my father".
"He may be bringing his son, he's around your age and since you're also a business individual and we're family. I was thinking you could come along" Dominic said to me.
"Let me see if I get what I think you're saying" I said folding my arms. "Are you somehow hoping that if Miguel does bring his son there and I'm there he'd be somehow interested in me and able to convinced his dad to do business with you?"
"Well when you say it like that you make it sound like I'm pimping you out or something" Dominic said to me. "Which I'm totally not doing but I may need your help just in case"
"You not having any confidence in getting a business deal? That's a first" I said to him. "By the way aren't you afraid of asking my help by now? I mean the last time you asked me to help I got involved with the enemy"
"Well I trust you this time" Dominic said to me.
"That's probably not wise" I chuckled. "But I'll be there tomorrow though".
"Thanks Lex" Dominic said to me.
"No problem" I said to him before going over to Emily. "Hey Em, come on time for lunch"
"I didn't know you were this good with kids" Dominic said to me as he watched me pick up Emily.
"Neither did I" I chuckle. "But I am apparently"
"Aunty Lexi, can we get pizza for lunch?" Emily asked.
"That's what you want?" I asked.
"Yeah" Emily nodded.
"Alright then, we'll get pizza" I smiled at her. "Hey Nic care to join?"
