"Skylar?" a male asked, his voice causing my body to shiver because of the stupid mate bond. "Can we talk?"
I turned my head to look at Drake and nodded. My heart pounded in my chest a bit before I got it back to normal. I was nervous as to what he wanted to talk about, and I hoped that he wanted to give us a chance. "Just let me get everyone to eat before we do."
Drake frowned, looking confused. He furrowed his brows while he tried to think of a reason as to why I had to make sure that my group was eating before we could talk. "Are you in a cult?"
I shook my head and snorted. "Jerecho, the God that has been taking care of us, likes to taste what food we eat. He's a cook in his spare time." It was funny to see him in an apron, but the kids loved it when he wears an apron they had given him for one Christmas.
"But I thought-"
"The Moon Goddess isn't the only God there, Drake. There are other Gods as well as Goddesses," I interrupted him. "Met the Moon Goddess once. She's nice. Doesn't care that I give thanks to Jerecho, but she is jealous of his Beloved."
Drake scrunched up his brow, and if I was being honest with myself, I thought it was kind of cute. "How..?"
"I travel," I replied. "I just don't stay in the states while I travel." I started to walk towards the dining room, following my nose. My stomach clutched in hunger, and I tried to make sure it didn't growl, which was close to impossible. "Places have different beliefs and different Gods and Goddesses. The Gods and Goddesses that people believe in are real. It just is a memory overload for them."
"Then why do you know about them? Don't they kill people that have found out?"
"Some of them," I replied. I moved my hands close together and blew into them. The power from Jerecho appeared in my hands like a golden orb. "I am his... apprentice, if you want to call me that," I said, clapping my hands together to have the ball disappear.
"Wow," Drake said, causing me to nod.
"Don't tell your pack. They could try to use the power against me."
"Why are you telling me?"
I looked up at him, keeping my face and emotions and feelings guarded. "Because, I have to learn to trust you, and you have to learn to trust me. We can't have trust without conversation and us being on the same page."
Drake thought about what I had said and nodded. He took a step in front of me and stopped causing me to glare. He only smirked, holding out his hand. "Then we talk about our feelings and not hound each other. I smell Alpha Blood coming from you, so partners as well as mates?"
I was shocked and speechless. My eyes searched his face, and I couldn't find any hostility about me kissing him when I knew I wasn't supposed to. It was still too soon to act all in love with each other, but I could see myself with him in the future. And maybe, just maybe, giving him my heart.
I nodded, shaking his hand. "Partners as well as mates," I replied, enjoying the sparks that went up and down my arm. I furrowed my brows and frowned. I couldn't help but think about the kiss and the disgusted look he had given me. Was this all a hoax, or was he actually being genuine? "But..?"
"We'll talk about the kiss after dinner. You need to eat, also. I made enough food to fill you guys up three times, so you shouldn't have to wait to eat."
I frowned. I was confused as to who told him that I normally ate last, sometimes giving up most of my meal to the other people. "How did you...?"
Drake smirked. "It seems to me that Snitch doesn't only snitch stuff from people but give him the right stuff, he'll talk about anyone."
I shook my head, a small smile playing on my lips. I had no idea what I was going to do with that young boy, but I was grateful that Snitch had told Drake that I would eat just a small handful of food at a time. I wasn't going to tell him that, however.
