I pursed my lips as I stood in a dress, wondering as to why I had let Drake coax me into it. I would rather be in some torn jeans and a shirt, but no that was not going to happen.
It was around five in the evening, and after the day that I had, all I wanted to do was curl up in bed and try to sleep. However, Drake wanted me to meet his parents before I meet the pack tomorrow and the High Rise Pack coming the day after.
"Sky, you ready?" my cousin asked, knocking on the door. He whistled when he caught sight of me. "Hot damn. I am sure that Drake will not be able to keep his hands off of you." He smirked and nodded his head, agreeing with himself that I looked all right.
I pursed my lips and looked at my cousin to see him in a suit I was nervous about the way it looked, because I wanted to give them the right impression. I knew that they might have heard of me and of my... deeds, and I didn't want them to think that I was some sort of slut. "It's not too... slutty?" I asked.
"Well, considering that I have seen in sluttier clothes, then no it isn't." He scowled and messed with his tie that was around his neck. "Do you mind helping me?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "I can't seem to get this right."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes before going over to him. "Be glad that Collin thought it would be funny if I knew how to tie a tie," I muttered, doing it for him. "Bastard kept houding it into me, because he thought it was cool."
"Hey, it worked," Thomas said, watching as I tied it. He fiddled with jacket and cleared his throat. "A lot of people paid you good money because you helped them get dressed and did stuff with the tie."
I rolled my eyes and moved a hand through my hair, pursing my lips. "I am nervous, Thomas."
Thomas raised an eyebrow and waited. He knew what I was trying to say, but he wanted me to say it. According to him, I needed to talk about my feelings, which I despised doing.
I growled at him and looked away from him as I tried to come up with the right words. "What if... they don't like me?" I asked. I grimaced and moved a hand through my hair, closing my eyes. "I have killed people before and am a feral wolf."
"Which isn't your fault but the sperm donor's." He growled, causing me to give him the evil eye. Anger filled his eyes, and I knew what was going to happen. He hated the plan of them coming here because of what had happened. "I can't believe that you are letting them stay in this pack."
"I can't let the pack members suffer."
"They all hurt you. They bullied you and ignored you. They should perish!"
"They are scared of him!" I snapped, my eyes flickering to those of my Wolf. I growled a warning, not even sorry that he looked down, submitting to me. "They didn't want what happened to me happen to their children." My voice cracked, and I hated that I was on the verge of tearing up. "You saw what he did to Katie."
He looked away, clenching his jaw. He knew that I was right. He knew that others would have suffered the same fate as me if they took it upon themselves to stop him from harming me.
One thing that he didn't know was that others did try to help me. They helped sneak me food, which I normally fed to Katie or my mother when she was still alive.
Thomas sighed and shook his head. "I can't lose you, Sky. I lost too much all ready." His voice cracked, and I knew that this had placed a strain on him like it did with Katie and I.
I shook my head, for the first time feeling jealous that his parents loved him. I knew that they would be happy to see him alive and well. "Your parents will welcome you with open arms if they are still alive," I said. I shook my head and chuckled darkly. "My dad won't."
He sighed, hesitating. "Do you think..."
I nodded. "I think that they are still alive. I don't know if they know that you are. But, I am sure that they are alive."
Thomas grimaced and was about to say something when there was another knock on my door.
"Are you ready?" I heard my mate ask. "And, is Thomas in there? I can't seem to find him. Snitch isn't even saying anything."
"Yes, I am ready and Thomas is in here, too," I said, quickly making sure that his suit and tie looked fine. "We're coming out now."
Thomas opened the door and smirked when Drake's mouth dropped because he was looking at me. "I guess the dress works," he said, causing me to growl out a warning. He held his hands up in mock surrender, a smile forming on his face. "I'll be outside. Don't keep us waiting for long." He winked, causing me to growl out another warning before walking out.
Drake shook his head and cleared his throat. "Wow, you look... beautiful," he said. He moved a hand through his hair, and I could see a small blush on his face.
I looked away and shifted on my feet, glad that I had refused the high heels. I knew that I would be able to walk in them, but I would rather have something closer to the ground. "I don't look like a slug?"
Drake shook his head. "You don't," he promised. He walked over to me and pecked my lips. "Come on, your cousin is waiting." He shook his head again and chuckled, amused. "I swear, he acts like your brother more than anything else."
I shrugged, silently agreeing with him. "Come on, let's not keep your parents waiting any longer."
Drake took my hand and pecked my lips again. He squeezed the hand that he was holding before starting to lead me towards his parents.
Goddess, let them like me...

"Is this your mate?" a female asked as we made it to the house. "My isn't she beautiful." Her green eyes took me in before she looked at Drake, jutting out her hip and raising an eyebrow. "Where have you been hiding her?" she asked.
"No where, Mom," Drake groaned. "She is just..." He glanced at me, and I knew that he was trying to find a way to tell her my situation without actually telling her.
"I am just... wary of new people," I said. "Your son was wanting to make sure that I was comfortable enough before I met you," I added.
His mother nodded her head as it to agreeing with me. "I am glad that he is looking out for your well being." she glamced at Thomas. "Now, who is this?" she asked, offering him a smile.
"He's my cousin, Thomas," I replied, gesturing to him.
"Well, nice to meet you, Cousin Thomas. I am Bea. Have you found your mate?"
Thomas smiled and waved, hesitantly. "No, I have not," he said, smiling apologetically. He was lying, and I couldn't help but wonder why. Thomas didn't meet my gaze, because he knew that I knew that he was lying.
Bea seemed to know that he was lying because of the look she had given him. "Mmhmm. Well, Chris should be done with dinner. The children are all ready at the table. They wanted to hound you, but I wouldn't let them."
"Is Ben and his dad there?" Drake asked.
Bea nodded her head. "Yes," she said. She raised an eyebrow when she caught the scowl on my face. "Is... there anything wrong with him being here?" she asked.
"Let's just say... he wasn't that welcoming to some of the members of our small group," Thomas said.
"Does this have to do with what happened this morning?" a man asked coming into the living room. His son looked like an exact replica of him, down to the exact look he uses when he didn't trust someone.
I nudged Thomas back when hr tried to stand in front of me and nodded my head. I ignored the soft growl that Thomas had given me, because I knew that if I didn't, then I would give him a louder growl. "Yes, it does."
"I expect to be called Alpha in my house, Rogue."
I arched an eyebrow, not really phased by the disrespect that he was giving me. I was used to it and liked to give disrespect back to those that disrespected me. "I am sure that you sense the rank beneath the... Rogue stench, Alpha." I bit back a smirk when he narrowed his eyes. "If you want me to respect you, then do you think you should respect me?"
The Alpha, Chris, folded his arms across his chest and glared at me. He was trying to intimidate me, but it wasn't working. A small smile flickered onto his face, and he nodded his head. "She'll do." And with that, he walked into the dining room, leaving me confused.
What just happened?
