"So, where did you go this time?" Drake asked when I walked back into my pack house. Relief filled his eyes as he looked me up and down to see if I was alright or not. He looked up at me and cocked his head, curiosity pushing the relief out of the way. "You didn't tell me where you were going, again." He raised an eyebrow, and I could tell that he was wanting me to tell him where I had gone.
I cleared my throat and looked away, a blush appearing on my face. I felt guilty for not telling him where I had gone to. However, I hadn't expected to go to Jerecho's house because of something that had happened. "Sorry, it was... unexpected. I was going to go on a run like I told you, but then shit happened."
"What type of shit?" Drake asked.
I glanced at Ben before looking back at my mate. I didn't trust him, not yet at least. I was still mad that he had sex with other girls and sent my Beta packing, but I knew that there had to be a reason to it. What that reason was, I didn't know, but I knew that I might find out sooner or later. "I would like to just discuss it with you, privately."
"Gee, I feel the love," Thomas said, sarcastically coming into the room followed by Ari, Bernie, and Reeves. He mocked pouted, causing me to roll my eyes at the "adult" male. "Why can't you tell me?"
I scowled at him, because he should know by now that I would have told him, before looking at the other male. "Reeves," I said, causing him to nod his head in greeting.
"Skylar, I was wondering where you had went," he said. "I thought you would be the one to greet me." He placed his arms around both of his cousins and kissed the side of Ari's head. He was relaxed, and I could tell that he was happy to have two of his three family members safe.
I studied Ari to make sure that she was fine with his hand on her shoulder before looking back at Reeves. "Had business to attend to. Did Thomas let you in?"
He nodded. "How's my sister?" he asked. Worry and fear filled his eyes as he studied me. He cared about his sister, and I knew that he was wanting to go after her himself. "Is she dead?"
I shook my head. "Valerie, m- ah... the new "Luna", is making sure that she is alive. I haven't heard anything bad nor sensed anything "ordinary"."
Reeves nodded his head. He didn't ask about when I was going to try to get his sister out, because he had seen me work. He knew that it was going to take me a while to set up a nearly "foolproof" plan to make sure that I had gotten the person out safely with little to no death. "Well, I need to go make sure that my pack hasn't killed anyone, so I will see you all later." He glanced at Benjamin and scowled before leaving the house.
"So, why is he coming and going?" Ben asked after he had left. He scowled at the door, and I could tell that he didn't like him. "I thought that he was attacking this pack."
"His sister is captured by Nathaniel. Nathaniel threatened to kill her if he didn't kill the pack. Be grateful that he just attacked and nor killed." I glanced at my mate and Thomas before walking to my room. I was sure that they knew that I wanted them to follow me.
They needed to know what had happened with Jerecho, even though both of us were confused as to what had happened.
***
"Well?" Drake asked, sitting in my room. He pulled me beside him and refused to let go when I shifted to the side. "Where were you?"
"With Jerecho," I replied. I licked my lips and cleared my throat. "Mahlkha took control over Nathaniel and talked to me through him. He wants me dead and to take control of the world."
"Which is no surprise there," Thomas said, sitting down in the seat across from us. He leaned against the back of the seat and studied me. He knew something, I could feel it, but I knew that he was not going to tell me what he knew. "What happened?"
"My powers burnt his wrist when I touched him," I replied. "He was reaching out to touch me." I elbowed Drake in the ribs when he tightened his grip on my shoulders. "He was going to touch my hair."
"Where was Jerecho then?" Drake asked, protectively. "I thought he cared about you."
"He does, but he knows that I can handle myself. He knows that I hate it when he pops around when I am in trouble."
"Most of the times, she can get herself out of it. If she needs him, then she yells for him, and he comes." Thomas looked at me and raised an eyebrow. "I thought your powers didn't burn anyone," he added.
"Apparently they do now," I replied, sarcastically. I looked at my hands before looking up at my cousin. "But, that is not the confusing part."
"What is?" Thomas asked, raising an eyebrow. He placed his arms on his legs and looked at me, giving me his full attention. Curiosity filled his eyes, and I knew that he was as curious as to what had happened.
"He talked to me," I said, furrowing my brows. "Nathaniel actually talked to me. It wasn't the controlled Nathaniel nor Mahlkha talking through Nathaniel."
Thomas frowned before he cleared his throat. "What do you mean?" he asked, excitement and nerves filling his voice. "Is he actually in there? Do you think..?"
I shrugged, my heart sinking. "A small bit of the real him is there," I replied. "But it is not enough to save him." I took a deep breath and touched my cheek, still feeling the softness of his touch. "He touched my cheek and called me his 'little piece of the sky'. His touch was warm."
"What does that mean?" Drake asked, furrowing his brows in confusion.
I shrugged my shoulder. "Don't know. Jerecho went to Luna for help, but she only threw a book at him and told him to either trust in the stars or look it up himself. Moria went to the Council, but they are taking their sweet time like everything else they do."
"Do you have the book that Luna threw at Jerecho?" Thomas asked, causing me to shake my head no. "Why not?"
"He wants to figure out the writing first. One part had a picture of me holding a sword and a dragon behind me blowing fire."
"Did he know anything that was written there?"
I nodded my head. "One of the phrases in there was "Godkiller"," I replied. "That is what the only thing he could read."
Thomas and Drake looked at each other. They looked as confused as I felt, and I was sure that they were wondering the same thing. "Who is the "God Killer"?" Thomas asked, causing Drake to nod his head. "Or did it say?"
"I think..." I furrowed my brows and took in a deep breath. It was weird to say this, even though I knew it was "true". I could feel it in my bones, and it would make sense as to why I had been blessed by three Gods and why Mahlkha wanted me dead. It would, also, explain as to why the Council didn't kill me to begin with. "I think that I am this God Killer."
